Hi I’m having an issue with my alerts and stream elements.live obs. I’m on my stream laptop (alerts work normally on desktop) and when my gifted sub alert goes off which is a webm file that i uploaded to the overlay editor, it freezes in obs.

The alert goes through normally in the overlay editor but in obs the alert video is completely frozen. Audio still plays.

Has anyone had this issues and knows how to fix it?

When I try to log in to my twitch account with SE. Live on obs it says "Oops! We encountered an unexpected error. Please try again.
Please try again." I tried to uninstall SE. Live and obs and it still doesn't work.

Hi, I'm having an issue and I'm not sure if it's from SE or OBS. I have streamed both to Twitch and Youtube in the past, but I believe I am going to be sticking with Twitch. Yesterday, I was able to stream to Twitch perfectly fine with no issue, and have done nothing to the software since then. However, when I tried streaming today, it said stream start requested, and pulled up the window to authorize streaming to Youtube. I checked settings, and it is still set to Twitch. I tried changing the stream to Youtube and back to Twitch, and that didn't fix the issue. I have also restarted the software multiple times, and it still is trying to stream to Youtube despite the settings being set to Twitch.

If you use a custom bot name, you won't need to have "StreamElements" modded anymore, but there's no harm in keeping it as a mod.

Hello! Hope you all are doing well! I have been trying to change the bot name but for some reason it was not working. I did connect another account, but the button still says "connect custom bot name". When i try to send a test message, it still has the "StreamElements" name. I tried logging out of everything and logging back on, I tried downloading and reinstalling SE.Live already just in case, same issue. Only thing i haven't tried is reinstalling OBS itself.
My OBS currently sits at the 28.1.2 version and SE.Live 22.9.8.69, in case this is relevant info.
Also, i tried to first use the "report an issue" function on the streamelements menu, but it was not working for me, the button doesn't allow me to send the report.

Not sure if anyone else is facing this issue or if it is an already know issue or i am just unlucky, but here i am lol

Update, they didn't find shit, even after running live tests for the tech in person showing the stability failures so I got an RMA on my modem, they sent a new one just in case it was the problem, that did nothing. I'm still here having issues and have absolutely no understanding of why or what's happening now that I've officially changed every piece of hardware connected to my computer

Yeah, it happens to me as well... Since I upgraded to the new activity feed. No media buttons for Stream Deck for ages, now the custom bot name... Its a shame. I am sure they are doing their best to sort these things out however I fail to understand how revamping things that are already working makes up for broken things left broken and breaking new ones. Don´t get me wrong, they have all my support but it´s still very frustrating to see things stop working even if you don't upgrade to make sure everything works as you're used to.

Hi there, I am having issues with streamelements overlay not looping in obs. I am trying to set a follower alert with a looping gif it works and emulates just the way it should on se but when I add it in as a browser source on OBS it only loops once I have also checked it via URL and it only loops once. Does anyone know a fix for this? I made sure it is marked as loop, saved, even extended the timer and it doesn't seem to work.

Hey there, hope everything's fine with you!

I'm having a big trouble, SE.Live is crashing my OBS. I've installed it from scratch twice and whenever I activate the Activity Feed on my OBS (v29 clean installation as well) it simply crashes, shoutsdown my OBS without any warning. This happens a couple of times till the Activity Feed simply disappears from OBS and then it runs normally.

Any clue about this?

I followed the instructions provided on inputting the command in console and each time I get an error that there’s a problem with the command because 1:1 is not defined. Please help. Hi guys! I have a problem with SE.Live plugin. I usually use OBS Studio on my second monitor but when I close OBS and start it again, it opens on my first/primary monitor and I always need to drag it manually to be on the second monitor. This happens only when I install SE.Live plugin into OBS. Before I do this, OBS opens on the last monitor it was opened on.

Any ideas? :/

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using SE.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In SE.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

So I see that you're using Activity Feed 2.0. There is a known issue with custom bot names and the AF 2.0. I recommend clicking the cog wheel then reverting back to the previous version of activity feed

Hey, I have had some issues with my custom bot name for the past two weeks now. I see just above, I also have a similar issue with setting up the Custom Bot Name.
Regardless of what I do, it defaults back to StreamElements bot rather than my own.

  • I've tried the 40404 log in OBS Studio > Right click > 'Properties' > Target > add ______40404 process.
  • I've tried logging out of both SE.Live and OBS directly and relogging in.
    Still nothing. 😦

Having issue with naming custom bot. it was working fine until the activity overlay got changed.

now when i click on "connect custom bot name" it opens the obs browser and i login and then the custom bot does not send test messages after i save it

When we start a giveaway using SE, the default message in the chat is :
"a giveaway has started "GIVEAWAY" PogChamp say !ticket 1 to buy 1 tickets. A ticket costs 0 points"

Is there any way to customise this default message, when we start or end a giveaway ?

Hey guys, I don't know if it's just or something else. I was working on my OBS Setup when I saw, that no labels or other Overlays are shown in OBS Studio SE.live. The I wanted to check on the dashboard and I got an SSL Error, that said, that the SSL certificate is in mismatch. A minute later I were able to access the Dashboard but I still don't see anything in OBS and also in the edit screen of my alerts it shows me the right design in the preview on the left but the wrong when I make an Alert Emulation.

It would be great getting a reply this time. I've been asking so often about the NVIDIA NVENC H.264 not working anymore after one of the recent updates and never had anyone from helpdesk answer. I'm sorry if I forgot some secret handshake or whatever.
I have to admit, I'm getting more and more frustrated with SE lately, as every update makes my streaming-experience worse. I'm afraid of updates by now, but had to today, as my alerts stopped working. The alerts work again, but now the desktop-capture doesn't, which I find frustrating and which made today's stream an embarrassment.

Hey there, I was trying to Stream Destiny 2 , While streaming my OBS display Turned Dim , I was playing Apex Beforehand and everything was okay, I went to play Destiny, it was okay for about 15 mins then everything Turned Dim, Barley can see anything on stream or OBS Display. So im having a weird issue. I have a twitch profile and a youtube one set up and the youtube one isnt recording mutliple tracks like it should. The twitch one does and if i go to that profile and sign into my youtube it works. But i want to keep both profiles set up. Nvm apparently duplicating the twitch one and swapping accounts fixed it

Hey. Hoping this is the right place rather than #helpdesk-twitch because my custom bot is connected to twitch.

I've been using a custom bot for well over 2 years now, had minimal problems. But now ever since the latest SE.Live update with the new activity feed (currently on version 22.9.8.69), I'm unable to use my custom bot.

Weirdest part about it is that my bot name still shows in the list but will continue to post as StreamElements in my chat. Tried both of the below messages to reauthorize my bot account, tried logging in and out at least 5 times but still cannot get it to work. Any help with this would be great:

My OBS has started crashing a week or two ago, anytime I switch scene.
-I click on a new scene
-the scene preview changes
-the "sources" window never change to the new sources
-after about 5-10 seconds, OBS shuts down.

If I run OBS without SE.Live - it works perfectly fine.

Have reinstalled OBS+SE.Live from scratch, and even completely reinstalled my computer yesterday.
Thought first the reinstall might help, but alas. I think it's since around when I updated to OBS 29.

Tested on my end and it worked in the editor and OBS. I would double check your audio settings to make sure that you have properly adjusted the "Control audio via OBS" option.

@heavy maple I have tested all my audio through the monitor output and everything comes through except for my item sound redemptions. I have uninstalled SE live to see if that was the issue but it did not help. I have tested the commands while live with my stream audio playing in my stream manager on twitch and the sound effects that are redeemed did not come through. I can hear all of my alerts in the editor and they are emulating fine but they are not making it to the stream or obs when they are being redeemed.

Hello! I'm trying to install the media request widget. I have it in an overlay by itself and added into my sources but when I run Media Request it says "No active widgets were detected for media request" I've even tried adding the widget to my existing overlays and it gives me the same error EVERY TIME. If your commands recently stopped working and you're using SE.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In SE.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

And also, the Hotkeys for Reload Overlays and Empty Cup keep disappearing and reappearing randomly with each launch of OBS, also, is there a possibility of getting a hotkey for playing/pausing alerts?
I used to use the function built into TouchPortal, but when SELive was updated a while back it broke the functionality.

i am having a time to get se to scale my scenes right. i use a 3440x1440 monitor. in my dash board i can change the resolution to 3440x1440. when i save and add the browser source the image is all goofed. i dont remember having this many issues with any of this when i first set it up

oh, not 1440p, slightly wider. If your overlay and the OBS canvas are the same size, you should be able to click the overlay and press CTRL+F to make it fit properly

To add your overlays to OBS, add a new browser source in your scene. Paste your overlay URL in the browser source properties, set the dimensions to 1920x1080 (unless you changed them on the website) and check Shutdown source when not visible and Refresh browser when scene becomes active, as shown in this GIF: https://imgur.com/a/2JhJD0S

Is anyone having issues with custom commands? I have a generic, run of the mill shout out command but it's not working anymore. It was working on Thursday, which was the last time I streamed. If your commands recently stopped working and you're using SE.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In SE.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

The output ends up being "please visit TheSemicolons at twitch.tv/thesemicolons. They were last playing Oregon Trail." But right now, it's outputting "please visit zerovektr at zerovektr. They were last playing (whatever game I'm playing)."

I would suggest using 28.1.2 (https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/releases/tag/28.1.2)

29 is incompatible with a lot of plugins at this time so it's best to revert until 29.1.0 comes out

How to separate Media Request (MR) audio in OBS:

MUTE MR FOR YOURSELF, STREAM CAN HEAR

  1. Make a new overlay in the editor, ONLY add the Media Request widget.
  2. Add a new browser source in OBS, add the URL and set the dimensions correctly.
  3. Tick the box for Control audio via OBS
  4. Go to Edit > Advanced Audio, set your MR overlay to Monitor Off. Note: This will play through the Desktop Audio, if you mute your desktop audio, it will mute the MR.

CONTROL AUDIO SEPARATELY FROM YOU AND STREAM

  1. For this you will need a VAC (use command !vac).
  2. Run your MR either in Chrome or in Ground Control (use command !gc). Note: Do NOT click on SHOW ON STREAM.
  3. Set Chrome or GC in the VAC as an audio input and output.
  4. Add the audio output from VAC as an audio input in OBS. Note: This will not be able to show the video in OBS.

Is there any way to control what audio output a browser source comes out of? I'm trying to use the Media Request browser source but the source will also play through my desktop audio if I'm listening to it as well as the stream. I thought I could get around this by muting the output of the browser source and only letting the stream hear it through the desktop audio, but that would mean I need to disable my desktop audio from playing on the VOD at all, which would delete the audio of my game as well, when I only want to delete the audio of the song requests. If anyone knows any way around this, please feel free to DM me as I simply can't figure this one out 😅

'StreamElements' menu shows up.
StrealElements bot added & granted mod on my channel.
Tipping page link panel is on Twitch. All verified.
Activity Feed -> Stream Settinsg -> Custom Bot Name -> Connect Custom Bot name -> login window comes up.
I log in with the bot account, succes -> but then nothing happens.
The activity feed window / custom bot name input is not being update with my custom bot information "Change to... <bot>" is not there. I tried to restart obs, logged in to 'custom bot at least 5x" - nothing.

Please advise.

Found the solution. Had to revert back to the previous version by clicking the cog wheel > Revert to previous in activity feed.

I've noticed a lot of features failing to work lately and it seems almost completely inactive support-wise (at least in this channel) the past few weeks. Not asking this as a bash to SE, just curious to know if SE will continue to be viable or not.

Hey! I have like 2 big problems, 1. Every time I open OBS I get a notification to update SE.Live, so I go trough the whole process, press 'finish' after the update said it was done, then I start OBS again and nothing happened, I get the same notification and i don't know what to do about it. 2nd problem, when I start OBS. My chat and/or activity feed push my cpu up to like 40% (not streaming or doing anything), when its not signed in it uses at its max. 20%. I already tried to reinstall SE.Live but that didn't work but i'm scared that if i reinstall OBS that i lose webhooks and stuff like that. I hope someone has a solution to this 🙏

SE.Live crashes on me on every available version, it crashes when I switch scenes or do anything. I've switched to StreamLabs jsut so I can stream. I would prefer using SE.Live since it is easier on PC's, but its not working right. Please help all of us. We want to use SE.Live.

hey friends! Ive found out a lot of the issues we’re having are due to OBS versions 28+ ! so i recommend rolling back to 27.2.4 and saving an export of your scenes. I dont know much about what you guys have, but you may also have to find an older version of your plugins as well.

but i did all that and now (even as a vtuber) my pc isn’t chugging so hard or crashing my OBS :)

alright so i made a overlay with a custom animated pop up for my follower alerts, copied the URL and set up my browser source and pasted the URL, followed all the step by step guides and my overlay is not working at all. doesnt show a preview or anything in OBS and even made a second twitch account to follow my stream as a test and got nothing, any help would be appreciated as i am a newb to this stuff

Hello! I seem to be having an issue when trying to change the name of my stream elements bot in the activity feed through OBS. I have linked the twitch account with the name of my choice but every time I run a test for it the name still shows up as "StreamElements" rather than the account name I chose to authorize.

Hey all, got a question! I'm dual-streaming Twitch and YouTube. I have alerts for both set up through SE.Live. Is there a way I can make sure that alerts from the different services won't interrupt each other, but instead queue so every alert gets it's due? Also, is there any way to combine the chats into one chatbox?

Has anyone experienced this problem? I've been having this happen for about... maybe 3 weeks, trying different things to fix the issue but it's still happening. I've tried disabling and reconnecting my Twitch account, checking for updates, refreshing my sources but to no avail.
Any idea as to what could be causing the problem?

Hi everyone, I am using a streamelements overlay called "3d Alerts - 3D alerts - by LX" and it is for notifications when people follow / sub / cheer etc. However in the last few weeks the TTS action and text people send is being filtered. I have looked everywhere to make sure messages and TTS is unfiltered but I cannot find where to change it, I didnt change it to begin with. Now even words like "assure" are being filtered in the text message and the TTS to a, asterisk, asterisk, u,r,e . Please help 😢

Does anyone know how to make it so that when i add a quote that it shows the game and the date it was added (i've seen that in a few streams and would like that for my own channel)
For example with my 1 and so far only quote on how I'm wanting it

The SE Live media share widget isn't working for me. For some reason, media requests work fine in the ground control app but any media in the widget in SE Live is freezing after about 2 seconds of playing. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling SE Live and the issue is persisting

If your commands recently stopped working and you're using SE.Live and a custom bot name do the following:

  1. In SE.Live, click on the hamburger menu (three stripes) at the top left of your activity feed
  2. Click on Stream Settings > Custom bot name
  3. In the Custom bot name field select Set custom bot name, not your already existing username (with capital letters). Note: If you already connected an account that way, the third entry will show as the account name (see image https://i.imgur.com/re4theQ.png).
  4. Scroll a bit down and click on the purple Connect Custom Bot Account button
  5. Log in as usual and Authorize the custom bot name
  6. Back in the Activity feed, click on the Send Test Message button and check if your custom bot name starts working again

I followed the instructions. But under bot name there are two check marks. One that says "connect and mod the streamlabs bot" another that says "add the tip link on panels" i have done both but the connect and mod bot check ark never turns green. So i cannot set a custom name

To whom it may concern: A few days ago I experienced several serious OBS disconnect issues on my windows pc while streaming which caused severe interruptions to my streaming and gameplay progression on Twitch. Upon inquiring in the twitch channel for StreamElements I was requested to implement twitchtest to help determine my connection stability. At one instance I was able to get replies from some local servers via twitch test but 4 minutes late I tried again for due diligence and all but one (including the ones I initially got success replies from) returned with Failed as a response. I have been asked to inquire here for further information and to know whether or not it is safe for me to continue my streaming with OBS. I would greatly appreciate a respone. Thank you for your time.

since the last se.live update (which i did yesterday) obs wont play my alerts (from se) on another audio device than the default one.
its all setup in windows so it plays on the special one i want it to be on, and these same settings worked before but now they are broken. All other alerts (pando extension, soundalerts) work fine.

I went to windows soundmixer and changed the default audio device of obs to the specific device & in obs settings under audio i changed the monitoring device.
both wont do the trick for the se alerts.

If you are not seeing the OBS Twitch integrations and have SE.Live installed, please follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you are on the latest and greatest version of SE.Live
  2. Exit OBS (make sure OBS is not running)
  3. Delete %appdata%\obs-studio\plugin_config\obs-browser\obs_profile_cookies
  4. Start SE.Live
  5. Settings > Stream > Disconnect > Connect

SE Live's Media Requests plugin still isn't working for me. It pauses audio and video after about 3 or 4 seconds and gets caught in a buffering loop while the same issue doesn't occur with ground control. Is this a known issue?

I stream directly from the xbox console. I recently altered my Twitch name. Stream Elements allows me to log in with new name, however, now stream elements chat commands do not work. Can someone help?

Having issues with the StreamElements StreamDeck Plug-in? Follow these steps:

  1. Open %appdata%\Elgato\StreamDeck\Plugins
  2. Delete the com.streamelements.obslive.sd plugin folder
  3. Restart StreamDeck App and reinstall the StreamElements plug-in

If you changed your name on Twitch, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://streamelements.com/logout and then log in again by connecting with Twitch.
  2. On the right side of the dashboard page that opens, select Join under bot settings. If it says Part select that and then select Join to send the bot to the chat. Don't forget to mod the bot by typing /mod streamelements in your channel if you have not already.
  3. Post your old and your new name here so that we can update your channel's chatstats tracking (must be done by staff).

If you are using the total follower/total subscriber widget, reset your session from the Activity Feed to fetch updated data from twitch. If you’re using goal widgets, you can edit the progress of any goal by going to Activity Feed > Widget Data > Goals. This can also be found in the Overlay Editor by selecting DATA (next to WIDGETS) > Goals.

saw the popup for the se obs plugin. installed it, attempted to login with fb account, chose to give it full rights to my page, t he next fb screen said the rights were successfully setup for SE, then it went to an SE error screen.. Now i'm uninstalling. nice
