Why is my Discord laggy?

The most common cause of lag is poorly written CSS.

To see if this is the case for you, try temporarily disabling all themes and your QuickCSS.

If that indeed fixes the lagging, you'll have to figure out which theme / part of your QuickCSS is causing the lag.Just slowly remove parts of it until it doesn't lag anymore.

You can only use plugins made specifically for Vencord.

Is there a way to remap Ctrl + Tab/Ctrl + Shift + Tab via a plugin from switching to the next/previous server(like Chrome does with tabs) to going in the order of recency the way Firefox or Windows with Alt + Tab does it? Or is it an Electron thing? I'm assuming it might be since that's what Chromium does.

Hey there, I'm having an issue where I get "DTLS connecting" forever while connecting to a call. I've found that vesktop connects fine on ethernet though, it's specifically on wifi that it doesn't work. Also I've found that it works fine when I disable Tailscale. Has anyone had this specific issue before? I'm nixos and have tried both stable and unstable vesktop packages.

Client modifications are against Discord's Terms of Service.

However, Discord is pretty indifferent about them and there are no known cases of users getting banned for using client mods! So you should generally be fine as long as you don't use any plugins that implement abusive behaviour. But no worries, all inbuilt plugins are safe to use!

Regardless, if your account is very important to you and it getting disabled would be a disaster for you, you should probably not use any client mods (not exclusive to Vencord), just to be safe

Additionally, make sure not to post screenshots with Vencord in a server where you might get banned for it

  1. press windows+r
    • if using discord desktop: paste %appdata%/vencord/settings, then enter
    • if using vesktop: paste %appdata%/vesktop/settings, then enter
  2. there is a file called settings.json, delete it
  3. Reopen discord/vesktop

hello! recently started using vesktop and i'm a mullvad VPN user. however, when i connect through the VPN i can't access discord. this is troubling because vanilla desktop discord, vencord modded official discord, and browser discord would work with my VPN just fine, even on the same server, and across multiple platforms--this problem only affects vesktop

Discord started blocking Linux VPN users, for whatever reason.

You have two options:

  1. Disable your VPN
  2. Spoof your user agent to a windows one. This may trigger more captchas. You can do this by launching Vesktop via vesktop --user-agent-os windows.

Today I got hit by Dyno's spam filter on a discord I moderate (but am not admin on, I don't have all permits), when I used Discord's built in Forwarding feature to link another discord user's post, containing only a .gif image (discordapp url) to a moderator only channel for further disciplinary action.
Audit logs made it seem like I'd tried posting that same .gif myself atleast 3 times into that moderator only channel, rather than posting the regular little vanilla 'this is a forwarded message from [server/channel] message.

I'm not sure if this is a vencord issue or not. I don't have any other discord plugin.

The anti-memory leak bandaid that discord made where it is supposed to restart the client when AFK, it still crashes when I am in the middle of a call even though it isn't supposed to do that.
