Q for wizards, do you guys run ignite and dagger or zap?
I did ignite in first half last playtest, solos seem to run zap as its less in their face. Ignite has its places with a dagger
Q for wizards, is there ANY reason to play staff? I wanna play book/staff simply cause it looks hella cool. The globe/dagger technique as secondary with book as primary seems a bit more useful to me but i just kinda dont like how the globe looks in the hand. Its not bad, its just that i personally prefer the others.
Alternatively i could settle for book/crys sword or staff/crystal sword
no, staff is by far the worst, sword is second worse but can work with a book/sword build
Im not looking to be hella powerful but more for an immersion/fun kinda look, where i have a staff and a sword like fking gandalf and use primarly utility spells

Its probably kinda hard to implement and definitely not a focus rn as there are other more important things but if they make it so that only YOU see it and not the other players looking at you, it should probably be doable, right?

I always played dagger ball. Just felt by far the most flexible. If you got a fighter charging at you after you nailed him with a fireball and don’t have time to cast another spell just start shanking and you’re probably good

I think the only way that the staff would be viable is if it made you like much much stronger than the other things. I dont know how to explain it but it cold make casting faster or more powerful generally. Now youre not as versatile or agile anymore but when you DO hit your fireballs, 2 are enough instead of 4
That kinda stuff. I would honestly still probably take him even if it was super hard to play with the staff if it had atleast SOME advantage. But i feel like that would feel unbalanced for other classes that play against him
I agree if they wanted them all to be balanced, books could cast faster, staffs could have innate willpower on them and balls perk is obviously using a weapon in main hand. But I think they want staff to be objectively worse for some reason

agreed. make it harder for wizard to fully out maneuver every class. cause right now with haste ad invis nothing can really catch up to wizard beside an arrow. and its hard to hit those when you cant see the target
Would be nice to see your spell duration, wouldnt be against a concentration mechanic to limit spell potential hrm.
Be something like buffs require concentration, can cast multiple but moving shortens concentration so you can so buffs dont last as long hrm.
I still think wizard is in a good spot; For the lowest played class, with the highest skill ceiling. Its amusing to see everyone gripe about them.

Last playtest was alledgedly the second and third levels
Ignite was fixed, it was applying twice the intended damage. And ignite scales off of your teamates will/magical power not your own (not 100% sure on this but I know it doesn't scale with your stats)

It could work. But probably only if you also have a number pad next to it. That way you can use your abilities and switch between items. Would be kinda hard. Though if you have extra buttons on your mouse you could bind a few controls to them.

Magic missiles are homing but only if they just barely miss an enemy, then from that point they home in on them but can also be stopped because they collide with something else.
Their homing is far from perfect
its pointer tracking as the spell is released. Most cases you aim first two, and lead rest.
If you want to be a master wizard you put one in the head, one in the chest, and lead the legs.

Magic Missile actually homes in on the crosshair. In other words, so long as you keep your target in your crosshair, your missiles will "miss" but will then auto-aim after the target

Do skeletons have extra weakness against fire type spells? Like ignite dmg or fireball
No extra or less damage from specific elemental types that i'm aware of, honestly i'm not even sure if elemental damage types have been implemented
They do have some magic resist and projectile protection though to kind of balance ranged damage to be more in line with melee damage

There are no spell names and wordages that would endanger the game from WoTc. And if there were, it is easily fixed. I'd rather worry about abbreviation (D&D) than anything else.

Have the devs said anything about the UI being improved? The biggest annoyance to me right now is looting stuff and having to mouse over what you're looting and what you have, so you can compare the stats.
I'm assuming no. The best way to grind XP is to go down to the Inferno level every round and kill stuff down there. In fact, even if you go down to B3 and die to the first enemy you encounter, you still get some good XP just for using a Down portal.
Spider mummies don’t give xp, the spawners do, iirc. You do keep xp from killing mobs whether or not you die, portalling is better xp though as mentioned above. Looting is good xp also

Question Exp System:
I got the Impression that you get exp only if you either hit the target. For example the Cleric, if you play support gets little none.
There is no such thing as group shared exp? Is that true?

No shared XP, you need to kill the target. Pick up loose loot and portal; as a cleric play solo and use a solo xp-farming build so you’re more effective in team play.
@shell niche killing looting, but most importantly escaping will get you loads of exp
I just expierenced that during the last playtest i leveled so slow compared to a fighter. Idk i think if i buff someone and he makes a kill you should get some exp for it.
clerics in most cases will because your supporting the frontline who is mopping up exp from pve and pvp, try being more aggressive in your groupings and ask to lead the line to farm exp

honestly, Cleric is kinda OP. The only thing that's ass is the lack of ranged options for players
Molotovs and judgment do well with me just fine.
Judgement is better treated as a melee spell IMO. There are a couple scenarios where you can take advantage of the range, but it's just a free hit for your enemy if you try to use it as a "Ranged" option.
I keep forgetting about Molotovs/Lanterns, though.
You can hit someone with judgement without ever getting into melee range though. I don't think you are using it as optimally as you can.
4.5 meters is NOT particularly far. I'm not saying that it's bad; I'm just saying you sort of have to treat it like a melee weapon instead of a ranged one.
My main problem with Judgement is that it's too finnicky to use. Since moving cancels it instantly, trying to pop it with any reasonable amount of speed is impossible atm

I just wish it auto-rooted you while you were casting the spell, with the only other option to cancel being "F" like other skills. Magic Missile is also cancelled while moving, but it doesn't have this problem in the first place because only the spell is cancelled when moving, not the cast itself
Also, I don't think Judgement is as good as Smite, personally
Same. I did way more damage with smite since my main method as a solo cleric was just giving myself 5 different buffs before a fight.

I haven't heard anything like that, they haven't done item wipes mid playtest but you don't keep gear between them. I'd imagine they'll keep doing that until release

I have a feeling rangers next playtest are gonna be totally different those stats are insane for how many rangers killed the bosses
well most of the bosses were just easier to kill from range. so it makes sense that rangers did the most
They could just give the bosses an anti-range shield that either breaks or has a timer. So only melee or maybe magic can engage until the shield is down. Then rangers

It does stack. But the damage ignite gives is based off the persons willpower not the wizards. So I don't think it is that great. Cleric +10 weapon damage would outshine it for every class but wizard id think

I don't think that's it. They're reading the suggestions. I think they just want to stick with their planned deadline for full release by the end of the year, and if they start EA earlier than planned they'll need to postpone full release.

Do you guys plan on having some extremely rare and powerful loot with 0.001% of dropping or some % like that?
its best for the devs to keep it too a week so they can continue to focus on the games development. if they ran the servers for a whole month it would delay the Early Access even further. and subsequently the games release would be pushed back
The game already has Unique Grade items (gold). those are pretty powerful. I would hope for the sake of casual players that nothing stronger gets added as that would discourage them from playing as it would be next to impossible to fight a player with a higher than unique grade item/items.
i mean loot like in games like wow or mu online, where extremely good loot was available at any level at any map , but it drops 1 out of 100.000 skeletons killed. Its extremely exciting when something like that happens even if happens to 2% of the playerbase and once their life time only. And it wont be overpower becauses that item will be available to only 0.1% of the playerbase
true. guess well have to see what the devs say. they will probably do another q&a after this next playtest so you could ask them there
to be fair i have seen people lose purple and orange tier loot by lower levels it is possible

also I hope a few more changes to the player spawns happen. there are like 2 or 3 spawns on the map that make it really easy for players with longer load times to get spawn rushed. maybe that was the devs intentions idk. but it felt a bit dirty. even when I was the one rushing lol
also in that way D&D really separates from other game , in other games like any mmo , items and stats tops all , the guy with better gear always wins , here in D&D gear doesnt secures anybody from dying.

in a game as slow-paced as this one, adding items of that rarity and power would result in mmo-tier grinding and optimization for people to get their hands on it
not only that, but adding something that rare will inevitably result in some people wanting to pay real money for it, which equates to real-world-trade and all of the messes that that entails
and, all it takes is one duping exploit to absolutely ruin the value of the item
it could lead to a lot of problems, and it depends on if you think the dopamine that 0.001% of players will feel is worth the hassle
there is already a unique item tier which is gold so its already in game and its powerful and rare
duping could be a issue to deal with if players find out but you could easily have a system to where if u find a unique item its soulbound so its not tradeable
or if it is it has the original person who owned it

The item has 0,01% rarity and althrough the item itself is better than any other in the same level example : a golden rapier. It doesnt need to be super overpower it can be just +3 dmg better than any other rapier. And maybe have a different swings.
Basicly what i am trying to come up with its an unique item not overpower and very unique, to capture that feeling of special items that MMOs used to have. The item can be something to show off, like a cooking pan or something vintage that only lucky bastards can have . Something that when someone sees it they stop in their track completely shock saying " omg he has the ghost sword! O.O"

the closest I could see actually being added to the game would be a Claymore sword. its probably the largest sword that could realistically be used by a person (it does have historical use, just not frequent)

I think that what @opaque zodiac wanted to say is that you can't use this type of long sword in every situation, it's too big and will collide with walls for example. It's not like a rapier that is way smoother in general. And many will agree that it's not easy to master this type of weapon in a playtest, it's a lot of work but is a great feature to master for later probably

Indeed; I’m the first person to balk at circles. I have never liked a single game that uses them…yet I have always said they are super important to feel of D&Der. It’s a little hard to explain why but I’m glad the devs see them as such. I do hope we get some maps with slower circles. Like either B1 designed around it or the next test in B2 just being slower shrinks to get that feedback.
I definitely think that in the future the circles will be a bit slower moving which will be nice because it gives people more time too loot and the time to make smarter moves.

The devs have stated that they want to make a monk, it was briefly mentioned in a live Q&A that they were doing a lot of testing for how to render first person kicks and punches as well as other monk moves. So most likely. But it will take time.

Nothing is 100% confirmed as things are still being worked on but the devs have said that the start of the quest system will be included as well as more items and balancing. As well as working on the maps, with possibility of b1 (1st floor) being released. They are also improving the ad/mob ai to make them move a bit smarter but at the same time fix issues with things like ai attacks still going off after a player goes invisible.
This is all that I am somewhat confident of, I am sure the devs have a lot more to surprise us with soon.

If its just cosmetics, hey I can't blame a company for wanting to make money. The problem starts when things are made intently harder and you can buy something to make it "normal" again.
If there would be a store with some decent skins I could play for and get after grinding for a while I'm probably more inclined to buy a cool skin at Halloween too, I'm invested from grinding for my cool ingame currency skin so spending another 10/20bucks is fine with me as I'm enjoying their game, and I can enjoy it longer if there is revenue coming in.
But these devs seem to understand that more than anyone so I'm sure it well end up all good 👌

They don't attack faster except for a fighter with a certain perk. People dual wield for the stat bonus and different animation option. In my opinion dual wielding needs work. The current version is a super basic implementation of the mechanic.

More storage means you can hold more gear sets and more wealth. meaning you are less likely to be set back by dying. allowing people who play the game more to gain even further of an advantage over casual players

really hope they adjust values/rolls for rarity and types of stats relative to the classes that wear that armor

i remember seeing something in an interview with terry where he said they tried different lighting and people would just boost their gamma to see hidden rogues so they are sticking with the bad lighting
I remember that too. Though they will probably work more on keeping light from going through cracks in the wall to floor connection mesh and things of that sort.

The only benefit I've found as a rogue is like you said comboing beneficial animations of daggers or utilizing reach of rapier with damage of dagger quickly.
yeah. basically you would use two greens to get the stat bonuses of a really good blue or a decent purple. and usually cheaper and easier to get two greens

yes. daggers for pvp. rapier for pve as reach is better than burst damage when fighting the ai since they are much slower than you and its easier to dodge

Yes I would do this but I would use them in different spots and not dual wield so I wouldn't get the move speed debuff of holding both. I'd do em individually.
well. the only class that cant use two hands is ranger. clerics can use maces and shields. fighter can dual wield. wizards can use dagger and orb. barbs get dual axes. and rogues get dagger and rapier.

yeah. thats class balance. some classes will always be better at fighting others. that also has to do with positioning and game sense. in a straight fight with distance between the two wizard should win no problem against a rogue

I like the game how it is, but man the slow and tactical boomers are the worst. Been playing battlebit recently and they want it to be a tactical shooter even though you can run around at the speed of light lol.

And I do too. Finding combos like blessing wizard for +5 knowledge/will for chain lightning access. Or casting invis 5 times on a rogue with ambush/weak point bursts. Those combo dynamics are so fun.

hell yeah. my group did a bit of trolling a a wizard, cleric rogue combo. bless, divine strike, haste, ignite, rupture, weakpoint attack, backstab. all those buffs on one rogue with full purp gear and crazy rolls on the daggers
