ok well i suggest that instead of keep trying to steal the ball, you get up close to the player you're defending, make sure that they don't have any open spaces to sneak by you and shoot, or pass in a flashy way. when you see him about to shoot, you try to block as much as you can so he won't get it, that way you won't get a defensive breakdown. i say the only times you should try to steal are if the player you are defending is not near the basket, so they won't be able to shoot any free throws

Leadership skills are in the MyPlayer Progression tab iirc. You can get the points completing other quests in the story . They activate by completing whatever task is associated with the skill you choose to equip. Further right more expensive the skill and higher requirements for activating.

The one I used for easy activations was a defensive one. Something like hold match up below 12 points in a quarter.

I kind of like the leadership skills. They kind of seem to overlap with takeover. I guess the idea is play well and get yourself and teammates bonuses while tying into the 'leader' aspect of the story.

If your new to playing 2k try going into Play Now and doing 2kU. It'll walk you through executing the controls. Turn on shot feedback in settings to see if your releasing early or late

This probably leans into the more philosophical on the right way to play but defense is more than steals and blocks. You'll probably do better with staying in front of your match up. Steals are a 'gamble' and once your out of position/unable to react it gives the offense an opening.

Let's take the pessimistic version of that question to the next stages. What would you be willing to remove from the next gen version so that it was compatible with the current gen consoles? PGA Tour and WWE have just one version, but those games may be losing out on some next-gen potential functionality as a result.

You'd have to assume that at worst, the "one version" method would result in what the current gen version of this year's game on next gen consoles, maybe with PGA's graphical vs performance setting attached.

There are already some bugs in 2K22 Current Gen. Now, the 2K23 Current Gen has more bugs.

I have to disagree with that. It was pretty disappointing. Even the changes to draft don't move the needle all that much. Drafts in other Ultimate Team modes don't stack all your good players at one position of their choosing. Instead, they give you similar tiered options across positions. Why 2k hasn't realized this simple tweak is beyond me.

That said though, I don't think it's necessarily lack of effort. I do think that at some point they need to punt on this particular draft format and retool it to be more in line with other draft modes. They've tried something different, and I respect that, it just doesn't work quite as well as other, similar offerings.

I put this in #🧪myteam yesterday, but it's relevant here as well. The Show is probably the shining example for just how to do a draft mode within a broader Ultimate Team game mode. This is what their drafts look like. Notice how all the same tiered players are from four different positions: 2 position players (a catcher and an infielder), a reliever and a starter. Whatever the user chooses to emphasize for their personal play style is the way they'll go. If they want to dominate with pitching, they'll choose a pitcher. If they want an amazing, middle of the order bat, they'll take A-Gon. If they want a good all around hitter and solid glove behind the plate, they'll take Posey.

Even with this new update forcing users to choose the players they're comfortable with, 2k is still leaving the draft user with a glut of the same-tiered players at one certain position. If I get PDs in my PF pack, but prefer to run through my PG where I get only rubies, I don't really get the choice that I'm promised in the premise of a draft mode. Likewise, if my PD round gave me someone like Garnett and a PG I'm less comfortable with, I might choose to take Garnett and focus more on backcourt offense in my lower tiered rounds. Again, I don't really have that conscionable choice. There are some semblances of that choice now, but ultimately it's still 2k's RNG that truly decides your team rather than you the user.

Even just presenting the user with a choice between three cards from the three different broad position groupings (point, wing, big) in a given gem tier/round would be a vast improvement in terms of user choice within the draft.

My best advice would be to watch your animation and to have a good, visible upper cue that you know. Learn how to release it on that cue, rather than via timed muscle memory. Latency, game situations and such can change how these things are timed a little bit, so knowing your jumpshot animation is key

Yes, that's part of the issue for sure. The thing is, I did like the Pack and Playoffs format in 2k17. It's fun and different. It just doesn't quite measure up to other draft offerings.

This is a bit much though lol. We can be dissatisfied with elements and not trash the company. S3 doesn't look great, but there's hasn't been a better NBA game on the market than 2k23 since... well, probably 2k16 frankly.
