Hello! I'd like to suggest that additional roles be created for every character with colors that represent that character and members could react in a #roles channel to choose that color as their name (if they don't choose one it'd be how it looks now)

Is there is a specific reason for why this Discord is so limitated ? No embed content, no reaction, no use of outside emotes, no gif etc...
I guess some of them aren't a huge problem, but the embed content make it so much easier to share things (especially tech related stuffs) and reactions are also a neat way to... well, react to messages and act as an "content highlight" when scrolling through the channels. Being so limitated, especially when there is already a whole team of moderators, is too bad and highly restrain the possibilites of Discord (especially community wise) 😕

Edit : oh and I was also automatically muted for some time because of the use of the word "*nalogue". Maybe there is some tweaking required for the mod bot 😄

I feel as if something has to be done about the #975468391118823484 channel. I'm fully aware he's a controversial character because of one part of his toolset but the amount of people coming in just to rage type NERF TAZ and spam their salt gets in the way of having any meaningful discussion about the character e.g. match-ups, potential changes, perk setups and so on. No other character channel is this bad. I don't have any suggestions but if you compared that channel to any other it's like night and day.

There's a slowly-building toxicity problem here in general, I'm seeing, and I'll be honest the limp-wristed "keep it civil y'all" is being trotted out in favor of taking actual action more than it should. Just take that Sentinel Taz dude in #general, they were harping on and on about how they were the best and everyone else was trash - for literal hours. I'm sure a lot of it is uncertainty in the mod team and will ease with time, but in the here and now it's rough.

I think a questions channel could also be good. Right now there’s only a new player help channel and general for that. New player help is typically for people confused about getting the game, or what certain things mean. General has too much in it to get a question seen and answered well.

Discord only allows push notifications for @everyone and all messages if a server has <2500 members. Since this server currently has >100k members, we can’t get push notifications for @everyone or messages in channels we choose. We should create a @rain basin role to allow news articles and tweets to be posted in #announcements that will allow those with the role to receive push notifications by using the @rain basin mention whenever a news article/tweet is posted. This is important because players can keep up to date with MVS news in the announcements section as it happens with no delay.

Someone suggested custom roles earlier and I get why they're not a thing but maybe we could set up a bot that automatically assigns like character roles or something? either if you use a command or react to a specific message. I'm pretty sure I've seen that before.

The game is likely gonna have more characters in the future and since many people have asked for roles for specific characters. Can I suggest just roles base off character's type (tank, assassin etc)? There isn't that many class types, so i figure this would be a better solution.

Another suggestion is region roles. It would help with people who are just wanting to play with people who are from the same region (connection issues, etc).

Lastly adding System roles (PS, Xbox, PC).

Character roles would be cool. The Mario Party server has roles for your main Mario Party character, and even "special roles" that are the Power Stars that you collect in the game.

We could have colored roles for your main in this game, for example. Although I could see it getting a bit too colorful, but still, some color is always nice on the eyes

Can the slowmode of 15 seconds in #new-player-help be reduced? It really is too much to use the channel as its intended. When the channel is busy it really doesn't allow anyone to answer multiple people at once and some questions do require some back-and-forth, which is also made more difficult.

Edit: Well either way, hang in there peoples! You're doing the best you can. Moderating such a pain lol. I've only moderated for like 2 different high traffic pages/games in the past and I wanted to ALT+F4 my life it got so ridiculous.
Downside to F2P is you bring in EVERYONE. Give it a few weeks and it will probably tone down a bit after all the biggest troublemakers are banned/ip banned.

@median cedar Highly recommend using private discord calls with the people you plan on playing with. With the sheer volume of players and inability to really filter who comes in and out you're going to get a LOT of toxicity that's a lot harder to moderate if you introduce voice channels to the discord.

Hi there! I would definitely turn off emoji reactions to announcement for most community members, the mods or admins should manually add emojis and this would prevent similar problems to what you're describing in reaction to announcements.

Psychologically, allowing that type of stuff to continue would just encourage continued trolling so I think it's a good idea to change the announcements/reactions

That's a bad idea. Even at the speed it's at now messages are going by too fast. Fighting games are always like this, and it's bound to slow down after a while. When strive released they had to have a 1 minute wait in the discord until now where they're at a 10 second wait in the discord. Also helps to discourage those annoying dudes why type one word at a time for dramatic effect or against spam

  • Add new moderators. I've read that there are only 10 moderators in total and considering that this server keeps growing and growing, it would be overwhelming for them to be everywhere.

  • Create a new role called Helper and add players that are interested in helping others with game-related questions (Maybe even discord related questions too). This would make mods job lighter

For a more productive feedback channel, add a bot that allows users to post suggestions that can be reacted with ✅ and ❌ by other users. This would help game devs to see what people are most excited for and possible changes that the fanbase supports (Ofc every change is decided by the devs no matter the amount of upvotes)

If possible, make a template that users must follow to post a suggestion so everything is more organized.

I think that the Wishlist channels ( #character-wishlist and #stage-wishlist ) should introduce a voting system where one channel people can list characters/stages (with a long cooldown between suggestions) and another channel for only voting 🗳 via ‘Reactions’

That way mods won’t have to worry about people spamming the same things over and over as well as have a more clear and organized system to see what people want.

having a huge chunk of chats dedicated to each character is unnecessary. a roles channel could easily be created with a reaction role system so that players who play certain characters may choose said roles. this would honestly make it so you don't have to scroll through 20 irelevant channels just to get to music

with that also being said, voice channels would create more activity in the server. as hard as moderating them is, not having them takes away alot of what a community discord is. users sending reports, either to mods, or to a modmail/ticket style system would most likely suffice for keeping it clean

I'm gonna assume they don't want to add VCs because this server is directly affiliated with Professional companies, i.e the companies would be liable for them. VCs pose a risk to corporate so they likely won't get approved for the time being.

This is unfortunately the issue with official servers.

I'm not affiliated with the admin or moderation team in anyway, this is just my guess for why some things that Discord users have come to expect in large servers aren't present here
