Guys im grinding hard for the party animal trophy, does 2 v 2 custom matches with a friend count at 1 stack win??

it may seem like you're grinding a lot, but when I measured it with a friend, (where we were just insta-dying in the smoke rift) the average time it took us to do one loop was 36 seconds

which equates to 5 hours for 500 matches
so at best you're doing a full hour of just dying and dying and dying, to get a 5th of the way there

Let everyone aware, on xbox is 1000 rounds to get 500 rounds 1% do custom 1 ringout. do one fast map you need 5 rounds to get 1% would show up on xbox achievements. Mines was 60% I did so many rounds 5 to get 1%. 10 rounds 2% 100 rounds is 10% good luck. they really messed up the achievement. If you don't believe me count your rounds

why do devs always seem to go just a little too high with their trophy/achievement requirements? first 25, then 100, then 500. travel 100k km on the world map. reach 1000 jumps. and so on. there's a point where it passes being a challenge or something to invest some time into and instead just becomes a slog, an annoyance, a seemingly insurmountable obstacle

Yes, with the right management and gameplay accessibility, Multi had and still has great potential. Unfortunately, it seemed to fell into the micro-transaction rabbit hole which I think is a rather huge blow in terms of gameplay enjoyment.

I still love this game, and I played it despite of its flaws, it has some major qualities that stand out from other platform fighters. However, my optimism can only go so far without dwelling into pure delusion. This game had some big problems that unfortunately hindered its success.

Yeah, because who cares if they add a character that people want when they find out that the grind to unlock them is really obnoxious, and even the fighter road made unlocking newcomers an absolute pain in the bum, so they don't even bother and just log out.

That's what REALLY killed the game. I was super lucky and had the Beta roster already unlocked, so I also got Jason and banana guard for free right away, so really the only character I spent a lot of time grinding for was the joker and then the season 4 characters, because I did not feel like spending my fighter currency on them because I thought that there would be better down the road (which oops there wasn't). So many people had an infinitely worse time getting the characters they wanted, so they just stopped playing the game.

Unironically, after the game got taken offline, it's actually pretty fun now, since all you can do is just play the rifts, which aren't as greedy anymore and let you use any skin, and play against bots locally and turn on fun modulators to mess around, so the game finally understands why platform fighters are fun. Gameplay is still probably a little too simple, and it's basically platform fighter junk food, but it's not a bad thing since it is pretty fun even if it is a little too simplistic, so I don't really mind. It's like how Chernobyl had a catastrophic meltdown that made it uninhabitable for humans, but the local wildlife returned to it and lived happy healthy ecosystems, despite the massive tragedy occuring.

MvS hot takes:
The game always had bad gameplay, like I looked footage from the beta, and it looks SO unnatural and fake. I honestly think the middle ground during season 5 is better than the Beta, because it feels more grounded (even if it isn't the best still), but it also feels fast unlike the initial relaunch.

The roster was always terrible. Even right from the start, you're telling me you're gonna pick harley quinn over anyone else from DC outside of the big three? You're gonna add velma, but not Scooby Doo? You're gonna have a second SU character with Garnet before you add someone from regular show or gumball? really? I think these character inclusions are just as bad as some of the later ones like banana guard or nubia.

I don't think better character choices would have saved this game, and people would still be complaining that they're leaving out characters. If they added ben 10 instead of nubia and the Wicked Witch or Scorpion instead of BG, there'd still be characters that were left out were missing that people would be complaining aren't in the game yet, Like Daffy Duck, Gumball, and Scooby Doo, but every other inclusion was really good. So it's just a case of "you can't please everybody", especially with the huge lineup that warner brother has, before it's inevitable closure.

Honestly, I could agree with some of the takes here, and with those that I don't, yeah I could honestly see happening also. While I never played the beta, I preferred the slower feeling of the full release and I think it got better as they improved on it later in the seasons.

I'm in the minority who actually loved the addition of shields, because the big problem with multiversus is that it was a slower game that had all these massive moves that, without shielding were just so unnecessarily hard to call out and made the game feel so much more braindead, and the addition of shielding just makes moves so much more manageable. Can you imagine dealing with marceline's down special without the shields? That would be so much more obnoxious, and she's already the most annoying character to fight in the game as is. The lack of grabs is kind of unfortunate, but you can do the shield break and assign it to a button, which is a fast get out of shield tool that also leads to a massive punish if you manage to the hit a shield with it. The only issues are that you can't do it out of a run, which is unnecessary, and the lack of shield pressure due to how they work. If someone's holding down the shield button and you charge a big scary attack, there's literally no reason for them to let go or do anything other than just stick inside until you're done because there's no shield pressure, which is an important part of shields in plat fighters

You can break shields, but it takes quite a good amount of hits to do so if you don’t have an attack that ignores it, and even when you do, the shielder doesn’t get stunned for too long.

Punishing it is not hard at all if they're overly predictable, though it can get a little bit tedious. Because it has so much end lag, all you have to do is just shield it and then hold your strongest charged normal. Most of the frustration for me was how much priority the startup has so if I accidentally touch even just a little bit of it, I die.
The thing is, it's a very manageable move because of how much shields counter it. It still would be punishable without shields, but it would just be more unnecessarily inconsistent to do, especially considering the fact that if you do it high enough, you could just decide to cancel it if it's not gonna land, which is always fun.
