We've been very transparent about our stance: We don't mind being called a clone but if we just straight up copied it we would be doing a disservice to ourselves as developers. We are heavily inspired by Among Us and we love it. We just wanted to make it better. We saw a community wanting cool stuff and having to rely on round-about ways to get it. This type of game should be entirely community driven; with little or no closed doors. The more support and feedback we get the faster we can build it!

We have different game mechanics, and our classic mode has different roles and plays a bit more like a mafia game. The social deception genre is not owned by anyone really but Among Us did make it more popular. Why is apex legends allowed to make a game when Fortnite exists? How was Fortnite allowed to make their game when PubG existed. They all innovated off of the Battle Royale genre. League of legends and Dota, one of which was just a mod for Warcraft. The list goes on...

I mean we're a clone of among us in the sense one of our early access game modes does play similar to it but it was built with Proximity chat in mind. It was designed differently for that matter. We wanted to make it easy enough for players who learned Among Us to have a shallow learning curve. We loved all the mods that Innersloth never had a hand in making so we wanted to incorporate them but with our own twist so they work better in our game with larger lobbies. We also wanted to make it free, so we settled on an in-game economy.

The wheel would have been made/invented by mafia, Among us made it our of wood, and we made it out of synthetic rubber polymer. Someone will find a better design in the future.

We didn't steal anyone, we offered people jobs and wanted them to be rewarded for the work they do. they are EXTREMELY TALENTED developers that were neglected by the developers of the very game they were keeping alive. We were upset at what we saw and we had an opportunity to give them an opportunity. How we get painted as the bad guys for doing this is beyond me. Also let me tell you; we have NO WHERE NEAR the capital that Innersloth has. They had every ability in their capacity to offer these guys great jobs. The didn't. We wanted to make it right.

Beta testing isn't all about getting to see the content early, there's a lot of continually trying to find new ways to break the game, to make sure it's as smooth as possible for the players when it hits live. Out of all the builds I think I personally have tested (which has been a fair share of) we may have played 15-20 actual "for realsies" games. Sometimes testing is like, here's a new role, test it.. boom everything works, it'll be live in a few hours, so "advanced access" is very minimal. The recruitment team keeps a look out for very positive people, who are not only helpful, and knowledgeable, but are able to put in some decent hours for testing. While we do have an extreme amount of fun, it's not always the glamorous life that everyone thinks it is. If that still sounds like something you're interested in, my best recommendation is to just play the game, and have fun with it. If a moderator or dev sees you frequently playing, and likes what they see, they may "tap you" asking you to join.

We see the advantage of having one person in charge of making decisions. Some of the crew are definitely more heavily involved in what eventually makes it into the game than doesn't but there are constant debates and round tables about every aspect of the game.

We have a unique design process which is centered around speed; we are always looking for features that mean the most to players and if we can't get to those we make sure we couple our QoL(Quality of Life) updates with new stuff to keep the game engaging.

The last thing we want to do is wait months before releasing new content.
