The answer to both of those is that we don't know (though the game will probably take a while to come out since they're still running tests last we heard). I want swimsuits though. 👀 All kinds of them. i think the scariest part of mmos is when the value of outside factors exceed inside factors. i fear palia can end up like that because it seems to me that the worth of a player will be hard to gauge in game, and as such will probably be determined by stuff like personality and social skills

so if ur a weirdo even though you're a dedicated player you can still be excluded from team objectives and such like group quests because in game skill won't be gauged enough for a player's awkwardness to be exceeded by their worth

if someone's a rank 1 gladiator on wow for instance, people will still wanna play with them even if they're kind of weird and socially unskilled because their worth as a player is high enough to where they can make up for it with the value they contribute to ppl and thus can make friends even if they're weird or awkward

I don't think that will matter as much in this kind of game. Even the shy/introverted/offbeat players will find one another. That's how it always is in MMOs I've played, both with and without competitive or skill-based elements. And if Palia doesn't scratch the itch, there's WoW like you mentioned (and others).

I'm more wondering about subtitles for game sounds like Minecraft has different levels of sound control for mobs, weather, caves, friendly creatures etc. So I'm wondering if Palia would have diverse control of the sound as well so if we wanted to we could completely turn off the weather sound so we can hear animals if we are hunting. And also have subtitles with little arrows showing us where the sound comes from

Because I honestly have mobs turned up and weather down low and the creepers still get me 😭

Game is still fun, always will be. The community driven multiplayer aspect of it sorta died down

What made the game fun back in the early days was going on some random server and meeting some people, potentially meeting some good friends, or just messing around

There also wasn't an incentive for monetization for everything yet so all servers were more... pure? No kits, no plugins, just survival and the common sense you don't break others things

What we know of Palia’s lore is that Humans are an extinct race that is now returning to the world for some unknown reason
that gives humans a sense of importance, I like the idea that all the players and only the players are this important race
You could say “well both humans and elves were extinct” but that just wouldn’t feel as good

also it would mean the team can expend more time in Human Customisation and not split it into multiple races

It would be terribly romantic. There is a dichotomy I believe in people, that our old folk are of the youngest culture, and our youngsters are of the oldest parts of our culture. I think we are all naive and smart in our own weird way, but it'd be cool to see the Majiri, if they are the descendants of humans, to greet their ancestors and see what happens. Iirc the Majiri are described as welcoming to those with different customs, but also traditional. Conceptually this is pedantically nonsensical, but I ultimately think it's the correct thing to be.

Once we launch and folks have had a chance to play the game, we'll be rocking and rolling with that channel a lot more frequently 🎸
