ive always been one to only do farming aspects in mmo's like... i remember i played this weird mmo one time and i spent hundreds of hours outside this town killing random wolves to get meat, then sell that meat on the player market, no reason, just liked farming and getting moneys... and then black desert fishing happened... thats another story

They definitely have a long term plan for the game - They aim to release with a smallish world and grow it as the story grows with 'our' the players help for many years to come .. maybe even decades. Here are some dev responses in this regard.

@dire creek #game-suggestions message I agree, Mabinogi has a type of novel writing mechanic and other players can buy that book from them. They are called MabiNovels. I would like to rather see the book in front of my face or in my inventory however instead of just a script on a UI. It'd be nice to read off of the pages themselves and not just text on a box window. You got a good idea and I would REALLY love to go to a library and find players' books everywhere on the floors or in the shelves.

Oh absolutely. Although based on the small information we've received or that I remember. The game already has... 3+ years development and although a beautiful game with lots of mechanics. I dont think they were aiming to make a MASSIVE world initially. Some comment where they said we shouldn't necessarily expect the size to be the same as some open world games, atleast initially.

I feel like the game is perfectly grounded in that its not trying to achieve something near impossible like some games (star citizen).

Based on my perception of the game and what their supposed goal is. It doesnt feel too far away now. And I remember quoting them saying that they're not that far away either. I'll have to find it.

Hm yeah star citizen was too ambitious. Had good animations and pretty rigorously tested for bugs. Yet had many flaws and bugs in the making such as inventory issues.

I would love to be able to write a book and possibly illustrate it too. Imagine writing a story about your adventures, then you turn the page to a drawing of the mountains you went to explore, you turn the page again and it’s filled with dried flowers from your adventure. Full credit to @Dragom [Chapaatle], Auto Cootie for the dried flowers idea. Maybe you could even use photos your had taken if there is a camera mechanic and write a description on the back of them. I’d love to make a recipe book and pass it along to friends, or read stories around a campfire.

I'd rather avoid posting replies in game-suggestions, so i thought i'd reply to you here, hoping you'll see it. The problem with any game (especially online games) allowing images or custom made drawings into the game is the nightmare of the devs to regulate it. We've got games like PSO2 allowing this and because of it you got a bunch of adult content being posted in chat by players and it's often been said to be near impossible for devs to properly.

But the idea of taking photos with a camera in-game is definitely a good idea. Just anything that allows custom images or drawings is a big no in general though.

One thing im mildly worried about. Although I LOVE the concept of the game and its very friendly and beautiful world. No other game has really managed to make me interested in farming/cooking. I have very little interest in flowers etc.

I wonder what sort of rewarding mechanics they'll have for those of us not necessarily interested in those... grounded mechanisms. I'll obviously try everything the game has to offer. I just dont see myself enjoying planting flowers and cooking all too much unless there's an actual rewarding incentive for it.

I've lost count of the number of suggestions I have made .. but my important ones were regarding farming and animal husbandry .. the rest would be nice but the suggested elements of game play for my preferred activities ( amongst the ones known that is ) would make the game interesting to me

I think in the end I hope they make each profession(?) feel useful in some manner of farm beyond just making gold and cosmetic. Although im not entirely sure what else one can do since the game wont be combat/levels focused like other games.

Ideally i'd hope for something like genshin impact which is one of those games which i will never forget in my initial playthrough. A rather big world, but you'll obviously explore it all in a few days, or probably a few hours since this game wont be restricted to levels and difficulty. But hopefully a big enough world to explore, hopefully there's some meaningful ways to gate you from exploring everything, but in the end they've said they'll keep expanding the world with updates after launch.

I see alot of this in Warframe and Warframe is not open world however has open world instances such as plains of eidolon. Some of the areas have been abandoned such as fortuna's lobby. Sometimes it isn't. The player activities fluctuate like a hive mind its crazy.

Absolutely. And the worst part about those games is no matter how successful they are. I mean genshin impact was worldbreaking successful. They dont use that money to make new impressive content (not as much as they could atleast). They store it in their pockets and release very slow and miniscule content whilst focusing on gacha characters for more money.

Why not try to make an expansion or update that actually UPDATES the world. Silvermoon is supposed to be under construction since TBC expansion like 20 years ago. I'd make both "rosters" seperate but add about 3 starting slots for beginner tamers and then add on as you level up. If you were to need space however before that time or even after, you can still let go of some of your animals, furthering your progression exp or likeness of that one particular animal. Then once you've hit a certain threshold of likeability, it could be easier to tame that certain animal.

Sorry for seeing this so late, but I completely agree. Perhaps there could be an event every month, where you can submit a book with drawings and 5 get published. No one else could see your book with drawings until it was published. That way there could be a filter for the images, it could also be something fun to work on if you ever ran out of things to do. Basically, you are not tied to a single server, and you do not choose a server. You just click play. They use some sort of machine learning to 'match make' you with players you may want to play with but if you friends don't get put on your server ( or vice versa ) there will be a way to fix that so you can.

We had 2 invite waves (1400 total ) for pre-alpha last July/August and 2 invite waves (estimated 3k+ full total not known ) for the first alpha test around Feb/March. Amelia posted on the last invite wave that many more tests will be happening this year so there will be more invites. Hopefully more than the first alpha invite waves 🤞 . We just have to give them time to look at the feedback and apply at least some of the changes they had in mind for the next test phase before letting people back in to break .. I mean test it

I'm actually trying that in real life .. have a few different colours of butterflly bushes and hoping enough of them in the same area will cross pollinate and produce a different colour/flower shape

I think I need to Terrace out some areas of my yard if I wanted to do the same. We have a lot of wildlife coming through our yard anyway, so I'm not sure how well I'd be able to protect the garden

We have not been told otherwise .. so assume we are still in that general time frame. Amelia herself mentioned before the alpha that they think about 4-5 tests before its ready for everyone to play. Whether that means release or a full access test is hard to say. But .. if we take Whoa's responses seriously .. we are down to about 2 years assuming nothing has altered his last response.

In what way will you acquire new furnishings? Will there be multiple ways to earn them, for example daily quests, story based rewards, in game shops?

By extension, will you craft these furnishing yourself with gathered materials?
There will be plenty of ways you can acquire furniture in Palia, and there will be lots of furniture, period. For launch, you’ll acquire many of them through the Furniture Making skill. The more you craft, the more experience you earn, which then unlocks more learnable recipes. As an alternative, these pieces can also be purchased as they appear in the furniture store (on a rotation).

Beyond that, we’re also making a number of pieces and sets available in unique ways apart from crafting. For example, unlocking an item when you complete a certain questline. This will unravel as you explore more of the world of Palia, and can be acquired as complete items, rather than from crafting off recipes.

I imagine the methods for clothing will be similar. Realistically they need to make money to continue to create the game for years post launch, so things need to be attractive in the store, but they will hopefully strike a good balance

I'm pretty sure anything wise, in order to avoid "pay to progress/win" they're separating the systems. But I could've misinterpreted.
There's also a distinction between an ingame shop selling furniture, and an ingame shop selling furniture. One for ingame currency one for real world currency, so by the sheer word choice of "purchasable" it's not clear for what currency

I can confirm that the idea of the monetization system is that what you buy for real cash cannot be acquired in game and vice versa .. this is the separation. You will be able to recognise people that used money to get what they have and those that worked for what they have.

So, for those people that like to see who is best at something only need to look at those people that acquired the items via the same route.
