The thing that most attracted me to Palia when I first heard about it was the housing, so many games have no housing or as an afterthought 'lets give the intern something to do, get them to work on housing for us' type of situation

Then again, Star Wars Galaxies gave me thousands of hours of decorating, pixel by pixel shifting things in 6 dimensions and rotations, so I am spoiled

I think the biggest concern people have who I spoke to is, will they have enough adventure. A valid concern. A goal to achieve beyond ones daily lives, beyond your neighbors.

Time will tell what they have planned

The fact that they stated from the beginning that it will be an ongoing story and expansion of the world, lore, and game systems is a big selling point for me. So many games have the attitude of 'we'll think about adding that if we have time at a later date'

I know going into designing systems for a game, you always have plans. Whether they come to fruition is always up in the air, until it fails or makes it

Some studios excel at releasing early access products, but fumble after release a lot

Wildcard has had that issue profusely over the years.

That is actually something I get angry over at times. Especially when you know the main reason is, the lead wont listen to the devs concerns.

Well its a community simulation MMO. Think of games like Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing but with a massively multiplayer online social system put in as well.

hi, animal husbandry has been the talk of the devs office so it's a possibility. If not on release then maybe as an addition later on in the games life [S6] WhoaNonstop — 06/05/2021 I'm not sure if that is technically true - there are long-term plans for looooots of things; so many that we'll have to listen to ya'll to figure out where to focus. I think I can state that animal taming and/or husbandry is a common topic for us at the studio. 🙂

The game is still early in its development. There isn't an official release date yet but there was an estimated time frame of less than 2 and a half years. Closed Alpha is expected sometime in the first half of this year. Amelia will likely post more info on that soon.

We get weekly snippets of information ( barring the 2 week break over the holidays ) and a Q & A every month. The next Q & A is due the end of this month and more info on critters and crafting and maybe more is coming over the next few weeks.

You can relax, the algorithm isn't sentient. It just scans input behaviour, time, position, and vectoring to mimic human levels of interaction. It has no ulterior motive beyond the scope of the game and it's function!

Pre Alpha had 1.4k out of 80k people .. and at the moment we have over 117k .. even if we have 14k this time its still a small percentage so be aware of the potential for a really low chance of getting in. We still get to see some of the stuff ( reveals - not usually gameplay ) but not in game if you miss the invite waves

I experience irrational joy in games where there's hanging moss or plants and a SECRET TUNNEL behind them. Actually hidden areas of all kinds give me this joy. Unexpectedly deep water in a natural body like a lake or pond, or a well that bottoms out into a series of passages. Climbing through an intricate jumping puzzle to reach a door that leads down into a spacious underground dwelling. Trapdoors, invisible entrances, that kind of thing. Makes me feel very sparkly. ✨
