I can confirm that nothing is confirmed by a dev about mining ( I checked #❓│old-team-answers-pre-alpha , #❓│old-team-answers-alpha and the website ) ... but it can be implied by the forge and could be linked to the stonecutting we saw in the video .. like WOW has you get stone in their mining skill. It could be similar in Palia.

My landscapes are generated via a seeded random index pool which is used in conjunction with a coordinate generated pseudo random. The map is consistent but I don't have to generate the whole planet the moment the program runs .. I can load a section at a time specifying the coordinates and how many metres per display unit

Cattails on the nintendo switch (it might be on pc as well?). It is like stardew a little, except you are a cat.

There is also Spirit Farer (spelling?) On Steam which is on Sale right now

Also, I would recommend (though the art style is much different) Book of Travels - it is also a non traditional MMO that I feel like some folks interested in Palia would also enjoy

You could also play Hokko Life, which is basically an animal crossing bootleg on Steam 😆 but it is very cute and has its quirks

I also wanna mention that I LOVE the music in Book of Travels. It has wonderful ambience

Spiritfarer is a very emotional game...it is heartwarming but also deals with death (you're literally ferrying spirits) so I should put that disclaimer in there. Still a beautiful, really beautiful game though

Hokko Life has a new take on customization, focusing on furniture creation by putting resizable, rotatable pieces together from crafting materials.

So instead of getting premade couches and stuff, you figure out how to craft your own to your liking.

Personally, as someone who has an already tenuous attachment to Animal Crossing, I found Hokko to be a bit dull since the start is about as slow. But I hear it really opens up and gets quite fun.

I will also put a huge disclaimer on the opening for Cattails - if you have abandonment / loneliness issues of any kind, you should be aware.

There's an unskippable opening cutscene of your cat being adopted, raised, and then abandoned by the roadside.

Made me cry for a solid 10 minutes.

Ended up refunding the game because playing it after that just made me too upset, actually.

Wild / feral cats exist; it was completely unnecessary in my book to do that.

That is a good point. I think the idea of having the player character be an abandoned cat was an easy way to not make it seem dumb that you have to "learn to cat" early on in the game, as a feral cat would already know how to cat (unless they are a kitten, but the map is sort of dangerous for a kitten or a low level adult cat)

Learn to cat in the wild, that is - housecats obviously can cat but often don't fare well outside

I think overall the game had a good resolution as far as the happiness of the player cat, though but I understand why that cutscene is upsetting. Especially since it doesn't explain why.

And seemingly not over any actual...like...problem.

If you mean PvP in the traditional sense like fighting with swords, then no, that will not be in the game as far as we know.

Very excited for this game. Came across the website yesterday. Just a quick question, will this game be playable on very low end PC's (Like Stardew Valley) or will it require a mid-to-high end PC (Like Rust, No Man's Sky, etc)?

This second link is referencing a pretty high-end PC. i7 Processor computers aren't cheap.

What would be the required graphics/CPU to run it? E.g. Intel Pentium? Intel HD/UHD Graphics? Will there be options to decrease graphics such as low, medium, high, ultra high?

I ask all this as I'm an aspiring part-time interactive fiction web game developer. I like to see other dev's being very clear about their goals. Goals come before work.

If the computers they use are 'garbage', by my definition, that'd be computers running Windows XP lol.

If they can make the game playable with the very lowest of low computers, they'll get a higher player base which means more profit for them.

Seeing as their next step after pc is aiming for mobile will give you an idea but they haven’t specified details. And the I7 computer was running multiple copies at once, so running one copy should run on a lower spec theoretically.

The game is still early in development still within a 3 year estimated release window so it is likely hard to have anything more detailed than what they are aiming for.

Mobile is a tricky one. Solely due to many mobiles not being able to run moderate to high advanced games. Games like Albion Online would probably require an iPhone 11 or other such phone or an actual gaming phone.

The part about the i7 processor running multiple copies is a valid point. The problem though is that we can't fully know what one copy is able to run on. ie. i5, i3, Pentium, and that's just Intel. AMD is a whole other level that I know nothing about lol.

3 years is quite some time. Still, good games take time. Would be cool if there was a Wiki for the game.

That’s pretty much all there is documentation wise.

They have pointed out that they are planning on accessibility options such as disability and Color blind and ways to customise your UI in game so it’s possible that other options will be added along the way too.

And yes computer parts are not cheap. My computer isn’t windows 11 compatible so I have that wonderful task to sort out before the game comes out

That is why you build a crit-healer. Your unreliable to begin with, but you're success on crits makes you an asset.

I've done this a while, tried DPS, kept getting ragged on. Tank? Couldn't keep aggro, got ragged on. Normal Healer? Same deal, lag, couldn't heal in time.

Crit-healer. You're unreliable, but your ability to instant heal someone or the entire group to full health makes you a co-addition next to the dedicated healer.

Or run buff strats. Drop down an 'Over Time' buff like a totem or something. Then if you DC for a sec, no one notices.

Once again, though.

This is why I am hyped for Palia. Lag won't mean a thing.

Yeah, I know. I also know that S6 is probably aware of the recent resurge in MMORPG popularity given that a lot of people are still stuck at home. And that also means other teams and companies are looking to make new MMORPG's. Playing their features close to the chest allows them to make a unique experience, and stellar gameplay without being overshadowed by a larger company pumping out a games with features other smaller teams have confirmed their niche group like. Prevents a sort of player-base scalping, and allows them to make a stellar game without the kind of pressure of forcing out a release faster.

We all saw the WoW clones back in the day, and this game looks like it's going to be something far different than what's on the market right now.

We have a wide range of ages here. I think the youngest that have stated their age is 14 and the oldest is like my mum in her 70s . I would say the average age out of the ones who have said their ages that I am aware of is around 20-30. They have said although they won't be targetting children they will make the game family friendly.

There will be action in the game, adventuring and maybe even some traditional combat later on, at the moment it isn't the focus. Nearly everything you do is optional so you aren't forced to say kill stuff to progress if you don't want to.

We've already had a few people disappointed at the lack of danger in the game, so it clearly won't appeal to everyone, but then they weren't aiming to . On day 1 of the announcement they were expecting around 6k people signing up that day .. they had 17k . Within a month we were in the 80ks when the pre-alpha invites were sent out.

Yep, they have the idea down pat and where they need guidance from the player base they'll ask us to see what the consensus is. Like their monthly Q & A is based on which questions people appear to be the most interested in. And they do voting systems to liven up the reveals they give us each week. And of course they have the #game-suggestions channel for those elements of game play you think could make the game more fun. They do look at those and have made comments that some are really good ideas.

Honestly? For a lot of us it's either or both. The thing is that in our current situation, there's so much we want to share but also so much expectation setting we need to be careful of. Ultimately we want to provide an incredible gaming experience that we don't think is being totally captured right now, but it's a lot of work and there are a ton of competing priorities and unknowns. So for a lot of folks in the studio, it can be really overwhelming to think that players start to expect things that we can't deliver on soon or well or at all. The biggest thing that helps us out is if the community is kind and understanding as we try our best to deliver something you'll love, knowing we'll miss some things and make some mistakes along the way.

Seeing the general store I am I king the possibility that Zekis Store works similar to a auction house type thing. Sell to Zeki and he sells to other players with a cut of the profit etc. but then I also saw what looks like a market stall outside of the inn in the announce video. That would be a cool option for interactive online selling/trading. And they did say the transfer of items was unique so maybe you physically pass the items to each other
