FFXIV's is arguably simple in concept. The problem is its execution.

In order to play music without assistance in FFXIV, you must learn a new instrument via keyboard.

Having done this myself, and then lost my keyboard layout I was comfortable with, I cannot explain how absolutely awful it was as an experience to try to relearn.

Mabinogi's system was the inverse way around. It was complicated in concept, a barrier to overcome in learning; but once learned, it was very simple to use.

I would hope to see a happy medium of these two.

I was thinking more the concept of as you progress in your skills the way things are created changes from a simple tool to a more complex tool. Those that don't want to do the hard work can stop at the level that suits them .. they can make music easily .. but the masters will be able to compose. Say if we had skill descriptors Beginner, Novice, Journeyman,Master. Beginner and Novice could use the easier tool, Master would use the more complex tool and Journeyman would have a choice .. but using the harder tool will allow them to progress whereas using the easier tool will allow them to have fun. Similar to when I was doing fishing in wow .. the first few levels I had no problems spending time fishing up garbage to level .. but once I hit a certain point .. enough was enough. So I stopped. Mabinogi failed me here. I did not learn its system as I ranked up. Instead, ranking up meant that the Performance skill contained less and less "random missed notes".

Arrival Theory: Seeing as even now we are considering planetary expansion in the near future .. maybe .. just maybe, there was an anomaly appear in space that made the transport ship bound for Mars to a new solar system on the other side of the galaxy and this was Palia 🙂 However, on arrival they realised that the indigenous peoples were magical rather than technical so with no way to leave the planet they over time they settled and traded with the Palians. How long they were there before they disappeared .. well we know it was at least 3000 years since they disappeared but how long before that were they there.

Depends on how they handle it. Some companies keep that information under lock and key for the end of time, some companies are like (this is the final product now, so who cares if you share what it used to be)

I'm going to be honest, hope this doesn't get me in trouble. They have not confirmed if pre-alpha players will be in future testing groups or not. My "guess" is if you spent a decent amount testing and provided good feedback you would get invited back, but they haven't given us any guarantees (Hope that didn't break NDA)
