omg we brought bedbugs home from a trip to london once, i feel with you chairy 💔

I had to Google bedbugs and now I'm traumatized

Everyone called me paranoid when I got the same type of bites that bedbugs leave (because ya know, no visible bugs = no bugs at all)
so one day after coming from 3 day absence I wake up and I see him on my frickin fluffaloo plushie! I take the plushie and rush in to my roommate room and tell him "LOOK! I WAS RIGHT!"

and I purged them with all my hate. In the meantime, being paranoid freak I am, I learned everything about my enemy. What they eat, when they eat. How they look, how fast they are, where they hide.
and I gotta tell, no other living on this planet is as capable of parasitize on humans like these little fucks.

i found the first one and i thought it's just some bug from outside and i was like "🥺 hi little buddy are you lost? i'll carry you back outside"
then hell broke loose

They bite you when you are in you deepest phase of sleep. They inject you with painkiller so you won't wake up. And they don't have to eat everyday. They don't form hives, instead they group in multiple places in your flat.

They hate carpets tho. Their legs have little hooks and it makes them harder to walk on carpets and similar surfaces.
They also don't track the smell of blood so leaving a few drops to lure them won't work. They hunt using the CO2 you exhale as navigating point

as far as I know their NATURAL way of life is to feed on humans.

oh, you think some RAID or stuff would work? hell no! These monsters CAN HOLD THEIR BREATH.

Hmmm thinking about it, I wonder if climbing will be something like Breath of the Wild climbing where you have free reigns but just a stamina bar or if they'll try to control it somehow

It could be cool if they make it a bit more involved. Needing to actually set up rope lines and use consumables to make your way up a cliff. The rope lines will stay there for awhile so anyone can climb them for a limited time and they just go away after awhile, (assuming cleaning them up would be a chore cause everyone would just glide down from where ever they climbed to)

Could also end up becoming an interesting form of business. Expert climbers creating routes for people that pay them so those people can check out cool vistas

There was a blockbuster near me but it got turned into a yoga studio

what exactly was blockbuster? I'm always hearing it failed and flopped hard but what exactly was it?

So it was like a redbox or a netflix thing, only a store version. It had tons of DVD's for movies and games lining the walls, and you could rent it for a select number of days, then return it when you're done with said movie/game. It was before the mail in DVD's, and way before the eventual digitalization of games and movies.

Tons of people used it for entertainment, and they would also sell merch based on popular movies at the time. I remember buying an indiana jones hat and a Wall-e figure there, as well as some candies when I was a kid!

I believe if they went the route of digitizing their stuff like Netflix did (and at first, Netflix started out as a "we mail you your DVD, you mail it back to us!") and went the route of a Netflix app, we could have been saying "Blockbuster and chill" instead of Netflix. But they stayed physical unfortunately haha

And it was around long enough that they rented VHS and (occasionally) laserdisk before DVDs.

I think there was a big issue with late fees (when Netflix instituted their no late fees policy, that was a huge factor in their success), as well as something involving a 'rent all you want' program that didn't work out quite according to expectations. But insisting on people going to the stores and having late fees, when a competitor was mailing out discs, had no late fees, and was instituting streaming video, didn't work out well.

It's something I have been doing since I was 16, started off with just finding out where my ancestors came from and now where my DNA came from. Almost 35 years now .. started drawing family trees at 13 though so that aspect has always been there.

It's why I started creating a Palia family tree for the villagers

one of the wonderful things about these types of games is there doesn't have to be a built-in mechanic that is fixed for it to exist; players can create them to work within the game's guidelines and rule system

Hello my name is Wippit and I'm a non-alpha spouse. It's a milestone day to be sure: it's been 100 days since the Palia Discord channel was created by S6! The beginning of the beginning. But, more imporantly, it's been 61 days since pre-alpha took my wife. Sorry people, my constant pain trumps your celebration.

I'm starting to hate weekends. Because it's a guaranteed time that nothing game-wise will happen, and my pre-alpha separation must continue. And of course people have more free time on the weekends, so she spends more time chatting with people in-game, and less time with me. And I'm stuck playing games that aren't Palia - the game as of late is World of Tanks. Almost an anti-Palia. But what else am I gonna do?

I'll hook out the comment but .. the games narrative ( story line ) will decide whats get added next into the game .. biomes, locations etc. [S6] BuscoBear: Narrative makes most of the calls on biomes and areas that we add. Keep up with the evolving story for clues
