@real crescent My guess is that they announced Palia early and gave us this Discord because community is going to be such a big part of the MMO when it launches. Normally a game comes out, people play it, and then the community-building begins, but here it happens in reverse. Think of it like a social experiment.

Doing it this way also gives us chances to impact the design and direction of the game (within the S6 framework, of course.)

Yeah, the MMO marketplace became so huge, that a lot of the community of new MMOs is just an offshoot of previous MMOs. It rarely exists until the game is playable by a large audience, at which point big portions of the community come over to try the new game at the same time.

What is different with Palia and why they announced it earlier in the development schedule to most other games is because they are using our input to help grow the game. Just because we haven't got into the Pre-Alpha doesn't mean we cannot offer suggestions/ideas and potential improvements of those items we do know. Some of which may get added to the game at a later date during its development lifetime which will befor the years to come with our help.

While I don't know what the changes were, I do know that 1 or more changes suggested by Passion were implemented in the game. i can only assume suggestions from other pre-alpha testers were also included, and that will likely continue throughout testing.

You know, people have talked about that game so much here and I'd never thought to look it up. That's not at all the art style I was expecting. The bobbleheadedness is kinda jarring. Must say I really prefer Palia's style. Stylized realism always hits better for me than surreal proportions.
