April's Fools is a mostly American holiday as well so I imagine for some people this must've really been a surprise based on how many thought their game was bugged.

As is, it's fine and funny with the unfortunate side effect that some people will have to skip the game for about a day.

I really like the idea that Palcat mentioned-- with Zeki to talk about the potion while also giving an antidote, for those folks who don't want to use it or anything.

Accessibility settings are so important, even if they are "temporary". I know WoW has like, some 'potions' to remove camera shaking or a lot of visuals happening on screen (like, if youre on a.. idk, a flying ship, and you see clouds go by. it removes the movement of the clouds), and a potion to darken the screen!

They could definitely do something like that for this. Also, I think considering what kind of game this is, is why people are quite thrown and confused by this all lol! And probably why people are hoping just for a little bit of... i guess, options? to opt-out of those kind of things!

Sadly most of the discourse was from people who reported not being a fan of the joke being dismissed by others. Cause again, many commented on them thinking it was fun for some time, but the repetition of it and unability to toggle it off was what was not enjoyable.

I believe it's a mix of it feels early compared to other games (most games I play, they still wait until midnight PDT), and this is the first game for some people with Palia!

I think the other thing is just because of what kind of game this is. More... I don't want to use the word "Cosy" lol, but just way more relaxed compared to some other games. I'm not sure how else to explain it. But, it just makes people want a little bit more options in that way, even if it's temporary.

I think it's also just a lot, since Palia already can give some folks motion sickness, and adding with some 'headbob'/'Bobblehead' effect, it can definitely increase that by a lot. It's just a bit unfortunate in those cases!

I'm not really sure how drastic the bobble-head affect is in Palia, lol, but I know bobbly-ness and headbob stuff can mess with me sometimes, so I get it. I don't really mind though, but I can understand. Esp if this is the only game that some folks play!

It's why I liked the idea that Palcat had a lot. Zeki giving an 'antidote' so you can just turn that stuff off! Would also open up for them to ptoentially do other effects if they wanted to in the future, and having an antidote for those too. (And... being able to see if they can toggle off vfx 👀 )

i did what i could to minimize the bobble, but it's still about half as bad (effect not magnitude of motion) as having camera shake enabled. I really wasn't expecting it to effect me so quickly (might also be that i need new glasses making it worse)

I did try to interact with my venerated ranch animals to see how it'd be with the bobble head,it wasn't the worst but I have heard the zoom effect is worse on console.

I think the only other time I got motion sickness in this game was when trying to hunt/bug hunt with controller (which wasn't the smartest choice anyways lol)

I use controller and haven't felt anything different (at least pc wise), but the graphics might have been what affected it. If the head wasn't bobbing all the time, it probably would have no affect. Like I can kind of manage if my character is doing an activity that requires movement like mining, but just walking/standing with head moving is what really makes me feel ill.

The big heads are an effect that is on a 30 minutes timer and gets reapplied with every server change. Thus, if you're in the same server for 30+ minutes, you'll eventually look normal again. There isn't any known way to get out of it beyond that unfortunately.

Honestly, what disappoints me the most about today isn't the joke itself but how it's really highlighted some issues within the community. I personally am not bothered by the buff, but after spending long enough at my farm, I actually forgot about it and was startled when it refreshed because I wanted to go to town and buy seeds. It would have been a lot more controlled if people were able to eat a food item if they want a big head, rather than it being forced (or constant if you move maps often)

In fairness to the devs, it would be impossible for them to know how something is going to impact every single one of their players since everybody has their own abilities / conditions / experiences. If no one in their team experiences any issue with a certain aspect of a game how do they put themselves in someone else's perspective and then multiply that by however many people play the game.
And I am no game developer but maybe a blanket approach to this was less likely to break anything else in the game than something that was opt in / opt out or a recipe that people could then hoard and use later down the track.

The “joke” is players have a giant bobble head for 30 minutes. The head-timer will reset if you travel, change servers, or if there’s a server reset. It has been causing issues for some players with motion sensitivity, so please be aware of that.

We get monthly small content/seasonal updates. We just got a story update within the last month and we are getting a whole new area/map very soon. I would say we get updates of some kind pretty frequently

The game updates roughly every month, give and take a week or so. Some updates "feel" small, especially when they don't advance the main storyline, but there's always enough to keep players busy doing SOMETHING. As with any game with a passionate and invested playerbase, there's going to be some honest criticism. However if you're new, you're in for a treat, as there's a lot for you to discover.
The limit of farm plots IS a pain. We've been complaining about the limit since before they added peppers.

Bug catching with lures is very frustrating when folks don't give party invites to the person who put down the lure

I'm on my last starred Duskwing and while my lure was running someone came in and sniped it from me, I saw it at the last second before it disappeared

There needs to be a better way to do this, especially if there's going to be bundle goals that require near-impossible bugs

Many people have suggested to make it so the person who places down the lure gets all the bugs, you can drop it in feedback if you'd like the devs to possibly consider it.

Personally I think it's part of multiplayer games, but I understand it can be frustrating. There's many reasons someone may not reply to party invites (they can be buggy/already in party/etc), but changing the way lures work could help in alleviating most of the issues surrounding them.

I don't bug hunt much but I have heard there is a strategy of placing down multiple lures to spawn more of the duskwings iirc. But yeah, I can see why that'd be frustrating/odd.

I get that's part of multiplayer games, I've played a bunch of more aggressive MMOs. This one is specifically supposed to be chill and about working together if at all, most of the time I see cooperation go well, but this is one of two aspects that do not center around fairness and cooperation.

I can mine the same rare ore someone else just did. I can fish independently in the same spot as someone else. Flow trees are shared only if you tap it yourself, but that's easy enough to do if you've been around a bit - you can prevent it being taken. But bug catching is somehow the only thing that does not have some sort of sharing insurance to it

I'd been using multiple strategies. I watched the last one I needed get taken from me because I couldn't see the thing until right before it disappeared from being bombed by this other person

So uh... Idk in what channel exactly to ask this but something is bugging me. 1 or 2 weeks ago, a player (I wont name) sent a friend request, I accepted. I was trading plushies at that time so I thought its one of the players i'm supposed to trade with. Then this player whispered to me. Just usual conversation starters like 'hey', 'how are you', etc. I replied to them. I checked out the profile and its a level 1 player with all skills at level 1 as well. So, a totally new account. I whispered back if they're a new player. I would gladly help a new player. They didnt answer that question. I went on about my day.

Just now, this player joined my server, after a few mins, somehow found me on the map, came to me and whispered again 'hey'. I didnt remember the name from last time. I checked the profile . Same level 1 in all skills and player level 1. Then I instantly recognised this is the same player who whispered to me a while ago. I thought something was off, because you level up really easy in Palia. By the time I was gonna reply with a hi, they went to a nearby player and started trying to get their attention with emotes and 'hey' in nearby chat. The other player kind of ignored them and walked away, and the mystery player followed them.

Is there something I should be wary of? whoever it is, is not here for the game at all, but trying to just chat with other players for reasons beyond my understanding? Am I overthinking? Sorry for the long post

Edit: after this post, I continued playing and I see the mystery player again doing the same to everyother player nearby???

Sadly most ppl dont even know those rules or dont know that they only need to hit the trees once to get the loot cause the game doesnt tell you thats why a lot of old players want a proper how to behave on certain things tutorial for newer Player.

But you dont need to feel responsible for it cause you cant control how other ppl behave and what they do thats even more importent when it comes to irl.

Cause you shouldnt punish yourself for mistakes other ppl do. Cause this is the biggest burden you can do to yourself.

Not sure if this has been suggested before, but I think it'd be really great if we could 'sell back' things we accidentally buy from vendors for the price we bought them for, including when using the guild store (because we only get a finite amount of medals to spend and I have a hair trigger buying finger!!). But only within the time you're in the shop on that one occasion, so you can't leave and be gifted something and sell it as an exploit. Also, being able to buy stacks of items would be amazing, or just have a quantity slider like when you're crafting but in shops 🪙 Thank you for listening!!

Hey fellow Palians, so I've been playing Palia on Nintendo Switch for a lil over a year now, well March 2025. And I've never really thought about how many hours I've actually played so I looked it up. How on earth are you supposed to get tickets with only two activites, one of which is so off-balance that it's almost a demand to play it every time to even have a chance to get enough tickets to buy the stuff you want and for the minimal chance of getting a coin for the machine that refuses to give you the loot you want?

IIRC, ticket are kept from one month to the other, and stuff are pretty much always the same, it's just a 1 week every 4 weeks thing, doable in the long run.
Then, you got about 800 every market with the activity, yes, you won't be able to buy the entire market at once, but that's not the point either, long run and all that.
IMO, a bit frustrating, I wish to buy more, but a few chapaa's more won't make a big difference on the global ticket you got. Even with the stampcard.

The stampcard though ? Absolute garbage. lets do a bit of math : there is 190 chap every chase, for about 20 people, about ~10 chaps on average per person, you would have to reach 25... hm.
Then, let say you got 15 everytime because you're good & a bit lucky (25... Ahah, my god, how on earth) you would have to do 1000/15 = ~67 chase to reach the 1.000 needed for the last stamp, which is 67 hour, in seven days... you'll have to play 10 maji market, every days, to reach that number...
Baloon now, you'll have to pop 1K baloon, when the best strategy is to pop big brown and blue baloon (cause they worth 5 and 30 pts respectively) which won't lead to 1K... And that's not even counting how painful it should be to aim for console players u_u (hence diminishing global effectiveness to reach 1K)
Yep, ticket are fine, stampcard though ?... Not so much T_T
But hey, it's a game, and fortunately, people on it really make the game worth playing, more than the game itself, unfortunately

Was wondering if any of the veteran players could give me advice? I just got followed and scolded at the market for standing on people. But the problem is in full servers not everyone loads up for me (not even as the white ghost), and some people appear underwater in the dock. I don't ever mean to bother anyone, I just can't see them. Is there anything I can do about this aside from avoiding going to the market? Does not feel great to be scolded for something I can't control

Nope, you're good friend! This happens to me a lot too at the market. People are usernames in the ground. I literally cannot see them at all. I've accidentally stood on top of people while they were fishing and they've accidentally stood on top of me, too. Usually a quick oops hey I'm here in chat clears it up.

Def not just you! I've got an excellent PC set up and play on epic graphics, and I still have loading issues in the market or underground. Something about those server instances specifically, just so hit or miss on whether or not people load. And like you said, the fuller the server is, the worse the people being in the ground is! It's definitely something funky on Palia's side, lol.

And I hear that, sometimes it's nice to get reassurance for the unfriendly encounters. I was just chatting with someone else this week about unfriendly encounters, and unfortunately we can't read minds (yet, lol!), so we can't always know what other players want or need if they don't communicate to us directly. It's RNG (random chance) unfortunately. Some players RNG are better than others.

So I am back to Palia since my break in August, had a super traumatic thing happen but am doing much better now. Around June I bought a PC to start playing Palia because the switch was not handling the Elderwoods update well anymore. Because I was a newbie when I very first started Palia, I didn't make an actual Palia account and I had to start COMPLETELY over in June with a Palia account. So now I am in the early stages of the game all over again D: BUT the bright side is with the huge break I have taken I get to find my love for this game all over again. looking at this chart here, both standard and star quality do give you a net positive in terms of profit assuming you both sell the worm and the fertilizer, though the standard quality pickled tomatoes beat star quality in terms of profit gained, though if you are someone like me, you would sell the fert anyway and use the worm as bait and then sell whatever fish you caught, increasing profit from getting the fish

Takeovers that encourage yelling at people to GTFO OUR SERVER and the like? I know we can report but like, there needs to be a heavy statement made that if you are seen doing this that you will be banned or something bc I don't think some of these people are taking it seriously. I don't have a problem with takeovers/groups if they are nice, but a MAJORITY of the ones I have come across are rude if you don't do EXACTLY as they say. I remember when the game first came out and I played it people in groups would invite you, be nice, courteous that you are a single player doing your thing. Not now.

Chiming in as someone who tries really hard to be a friendly and helpful Palian!! We are def the majority in this community. That said, I completely understand feeling like the temperature of socializing changed, I now feel the need to ask lure parties if they are friendly before joining. I always use smoke candles, and sneaky bombs, but still ask before joining these days.

And, on the original message, **please ** do not be afraid to report people like that! I once had a similar experience where I joined a group/party on another server and they were like that, and I felt the need to make excuses just to leave voice chat. I couldn't report because it was said over VC and not in-game chat, but it stuck with me and I felt really hesitant to join random parties for awhile. Rambling, but I hope you get the idea! Here was it's beginning! Players eagerly cultivated their gardens to grace their garden with its green leaves. But when planted, it was noted that the lettuce looked strange. Grey and spikey, like it was not yet meant for this world. Players diligently tended their gardens, hoping the lettuce would soon take on a verdant hue. But alas, it remained grey, right up to the moment that it could be pulled from the fields.
Some players made more seeds, hoping that in time, the blighted crop would appear healthy, but it was not to be. Nearly two years have passed, and the humans still wait for a chance to make their own soup... 🥬 #LegendofLettuce

All the graphics updates they have been making these past several months are OUTSTANDING, the game is so beautiful these days.

I haven't played in months and went to open it up and check out some new updates but it is so slow and laggy I literally can't play? I am on the switch, so I get that it won't have the power and graphics that PC and other consoles have but to have it be entirely unplayable? I used to play for hours a day with minimal connectivity issues at worst.
It took me a solid 10 minutes to run just from my home plot to the center of town to access the bulletin board for the new mission and then I went to play some hotpot and the game glitched so I was technically in the hotpot game screen but nothing was operational and I couldn't leave the game or click anything so I just closed the game...
so disheartening because this game used to be my most played game, I have thousands of hours sunk into it 😔

Sadly it's very unlikely they will do QOL updates for the Switch 1, as the Switch 1 is considered old for a console and is "sunsetting"/being phased out now that the Switch 2 is out. As a Switch 1 player, I haven't really been playing much; sometimes the lag just makes me not want to play, and I can't afford a gaming PC or new console.

Well now you know that you can who could keyboard and mouse to the Xbox but it also depends on which Xbox you’re playing with. I think you can do it with the Xbox S and the Xbox 10 the two last ones.

there is barely anything when it comes to free clothing options besides the default
but they occasionally add new accessories which can be unlocked in ur wardrobe via tailor tickets (currency u get from daily tasks), currently a few hairstyles, makeup and sunglasses
and the Lunar Paths also have some type of free cosmetic piece (they are... not good tho)

as for full outfits, there is one u can get through the refer a friend program, but that's about it

Lunar paths are their version of a battlepass but without fomo, they are all here to stay, we get a new one with every patch (a bigger one usually with their "bigger" patches for the start of each season)

I think it would be cool to add a "recycle" feature or an "undo" button of sorts for when someone accidentally crafts something and they need to "recycle it" back to the original ingredients that were used to craft the item.

You'll collect the third daily, the 10M daily check-in! It should be collectable automatically, and give you a token that you can use to redeem the first level of the path.

Other than being able to have more cool-tone, dark color pallet friendly clothing options..., for both base game clothing & their swatches, and also premium store outfits... I would also love if we could have the option to change the hue of certain parts of the outfits... whether that is base game or premium!!! I'm a dark color pallet girlie who LOVES cool toned things and having some of my favorite outfits be ruined ( for me ) by having warm tone boots makes me very upset (for just one example) . I know it's a minor problem, but id love to be able to (if having the ability to fully change the color of certain things on an outfit i.e. boots/socks/pants etc. isn't allowed) to be able to at least change the color density like a Hue/Opacity slider ( I think that is the right word usage lol) So I can change some of my favorite outfits boots etc. darker! And PLS give us actual black options not charcoal gray "black" ALSO I would LOVE if we could tint the chests (especially the Palium chest!!!!) as someone who HATES bright colors !!!! xD and has a bunch of these chests around that totally throw off the theme of my plot XD and please please please give us better normal long hair options for girls 😄 side parts with straight/curly hair, braids, middle parts, more realistic looking hairstyles! even if they aren't too long but enough with the bobs! with much love, PLEASE CONSIDER and I hope someone also agrees with these things ❤️

You can plonk down another chest Dev, as long as the 8 palium chests are around somewhere 🙂 I use the iron one on my main plot, with the 8 palium ones on my second plot. It doesn’t affect how much storage you have.

just came back to palia after several months, stopped when alchemist cottage just came available as I wanted bay windows but the only way to do it at the time was through glitching. if there would be a masculine representing and feminine representing option (as nice as it would be) they'd probably release even less masc representing outfits

also for a lot of outfits it'd be highly subjective what actually counts as femine and masculine
for some those outfits would be neutral, for others they'd be too masculine or feminine

Well but it’s a fact ? I mean when u start Palia u can chose between male body or female body. Voice etc? So why just not do it also with the outfits maybe just for the mistery tho. Bc I know games when u pick a male “body” u can’t wear dresses 👗 skirt etc

yeah folks have said that even the dragon knight look is feminine when we know it was specifically designed as a masculine outfit. Since gender is subjective and gender expression norms vary so widely around the world there will never be agreement and it'd just shift the fight from "you should have to choose" to "they got the categorization wrong"

as for the type of horses i’d assume what they have shown in the pictures/video. but if you see lacie around during their working hours (it’s like around midnight i think for where their located) you can ask her for sure just nothing that’s not their ip

The question is, are the mounts going to be premium locked? I imagine the variants you breed in your ranch will be. But the ones they showed in the video are in the typical "three variants for the premium shop" style.

a simple: you can only use the base color of each palette or you can actually use every single dye would've been enough

same for the mounts, instead of listing the 3 species they could’ve mentioned something like: you can unlock the handler's license for the base dawnspur for free through a quest once you arrive in the royal highlands, while the others will be available in the premium store
