Something needs to be done with the star quality system. I was helping some newbie friends with cooking last night, and some of them ran out of ingredients. I couldn't help because i literally only have star quality crops because of the level 25 buff. They either need to make it so you can gift star quality or make it so i can choose to harvest normal quality.

Requesting star quality would help a lot, in these scenarios, the higher level player should start the recipe, enable star items, and then the newer player can still use their regular items and the higher player can still use their star items too.

That's what we started doing after.

There are also a lot of like, granular level things that are not apparent in this game. Like how you can use regular quality items in a starred dish, but not the other way around.

Oh yes, it's not clearly explained at all. There's many, many panicked newbies in the help channels who ask how to prevent starred crops because of these reasons.

So... some grievances I would like to file with no one in particular. Regarding the "Petite Stack o' Sacks"

** 1] **can someone please get the developers a French to English dictionary so they can look up what exactly **"Petite" means...
Then 2] **would it have been so hard to make the "Petite Stack o' Sacks" a stackable item? The asset that they used for it can be seen in multiple stacks out in the world so... yeah.
Lastly 3] The Sacks are obviously made out of some kind of Burlap... which as someone who majored in textiles for a brief time. One definitely would not make it from the skin of an amphibious creature... you would use... ya know fiber of some kind.

It's from one of the new items that came in the new Umbraan Decor set that was released in this last patch.
I put a Builders Crate next to it so you can get a sense of scale. &just how large these suckers are. I.E the opposite of "Petite"

i really need to complain about the nerfing of Froggie plushie drops, we hunted for an hour today for normal ones at g9/f9 for just 1 plushie and only 2 will'o wisps, earlier i was getting 5 plushies at a time at a4 with flame rockhoppers. like I get why they nerfed it, but this is too far imo. i will say though, having hoppington right there to sell to is a big plus

Though this does bring to the point that the missing info in patch notes can sometimes cause players to doubt if there's been any changes to certain things, I suppose.

They could've adjusted it to match the other bug plushie drop rates at 1/125 and 1/250. It did seem the frog plushies were set at a lower drop rate but the re-balance to bug might have fixed it. But we don't know since we don't get patch notes that actually tell us what they did, just what they want to tell us they did

Everyone is going to have a different plushie drop rate experience due to how big they set the drop rates. I get muujin plushies by the armfuls yet I know someone who gets the disco deer plush every other deer they hunt. Then sometimes we go weeks without seeing a plush. The 1/250 doesn't gunateee that in the 250 you'll get a plush. It could take you 2000 to get one, but that's how RNG works

Think this is the trickling down effect with the honey lures, changes weren't specified in patch notes, now people are also left wondering if something else was changed too.

But again, hard to tell in this situation. Most likely it is just RNG being bad, this game has TONS of it. I can definitely see why some people would think there's been a change, doesn't necessarily mean there's been one though.

But they aren't negating that? They are just saying that they have had something different, so it really could be the case of luck and RNG-- since.. that is how luck and RNG is and can be.

There can genuinely be cases where you have good luck some sessions, and then bad luck. Mine is always bad-- to the point I wondered if sernuk plushes were bugged (the basic one) because of how often I hunted. But it wasn't. It just differs and can change from person to person, due to how RNG and sporadic it can be.

Honestly, it's a better rng system than last year. It used to be for things like the basic sernuk and muujin, 1/1000, now I think they changed it to 1/250 (I don't actually remember the drop rate, just that it was drastically changed thus why people see more of those plushies)

rng is just finicky and stuff. Kinda how, on WoW-- there's a quest item (like one to start a quest) is a very rare drop. Dropped for a friend, not for me on our characters. Next session, different characters, it dropped a total of four or five times. Like two or three times for me, and once for him.

It just.. is finicky and can change. I know that's not the same game, obviously, but was bringing it up to compare the RNG and how random it can be and different between sessions.

i get what rng is and how diffrent it can be from person to person and session to session. but when youre in a siuation where multiple people are saying the same thing about drop rates, and we have no actual info from devs, you can see why we think things were tweaked

This made me think of the pets that drop in OSRS. One time a guy got the agility pet at level 3, some people have thousands of hours in game and it's never dropped for them. And those are even more RNG because you need to be skilling, not just obtainable by hunting a specific creature.

Like I said, I think this is a symptom of the overall problems of comms in Palia. But we're at a point where we can't tell for certain if they have changed it, so your only options are to either report it to support/feedback in hopes of getting a reply, or hope Lacie or some dev adresses it directly. Not at all, it's just that for some people they're esentially locked out of msq because Gales gives them motion sickness or other issues. I don't dislike the concept of it but back then it was very hard to navigate around and definitely didn't help the map was very broken.

no, i love gales as well i think some part is all the quests for it takes a village being active so markers aren’t correct/are confusing, and most it’s hight/and other accessibility issues from what i heard,

Anyway. The three extra quests from Zeki Elouisa and Caleri was incredibly annoying. Like, I felt like the other NPCs actually wanted to help me with the temples but those three were just in it for their petty grievances and greed.

agreed, i had to keep opening and closing the map, going by "clues", like "oh there's an orange tree, there are only orange trees on this island, I must be on this island" "oh it's East of this other island so I'll track backwards to figure out which direction etc..."

because sometimes (at least to a new person) they get mixed up

I'd think the Cicadas are different, as they're visible on the trees when they spawn. Golden Glory Bees, Bahari Bees, and Proudhorned Stag Beetles don't spawn naturally - they only appear when harvesting other resources, so they're probably coded differently.

It would make sense to add them into the pool for Honey Lures for sure, though.

A suggestion I shared to Palia's feedback page, but I wanted to share it here to hear what y'all think:

I LOVE collecting Star-quality Bugs and Fish in Palia, and I'm really eager to display some at my house, but I wish there was a way to make a proper aquarium or terrarium for them. If there were aquariums and terrariums which would be both decorative and functional, where you could add multiple fish/bugs to them at once, it would be amazing! I love some of my fishies, but I feel so sad about how small their little tanks are.

I think that this would make collecting critters soooo much more fun and decorative!

It’s just a generalised set order. In game the position of weekly wants changes often as the 1st tier is accessible from the start where as 2nd,3rd,4th are not

I got my first apple tree seed from Zeki's friendship quest. Either 1 or 2 I think. ||He'll ask you to test his machine that clones things, and he gives you an apple seed to try to clone. he lets you keep it after||

Proudhorn Beetles DO spawn on Lures, as do Bahari Bees (Bahari Bees are ON trees like Cicadas though, not IN).

Golden Glory Bee is the ONLY "Secondary Spawn" to not work on Lures as far as we can tell from testing. Hence the need for clarification. X

To reiterate, Golden Glory Bees are INSIDE Trees in the same way that Proudhorn Beetles are IN rocks, or Ladybugs are IN Forageables. The latter two spawn on Lures.....

If Proudhorn Stagbeetles are spawning from Lures though, then yes the Golden Glory Bees definitely should as well.

Reminds me of the Raspberry Beetle / Vampire Crab being MIA during early tests. They were spawning beneath the ground or something because we could never find them :/

Okay so my complaint about the game is the lack of ability to get dark essences in huge spurts. i shouldnt have to fork out hours of my time (some people dont have alot of free time like me) to get thousands of essence for like one piece of the new set. Or that one piece that costs alot of essence i forget what it was called. There should be a way to have an event like the piksii bounce etc and allow us to get seeds and lots of dark essences. Only then will i see the need to finish my side quests that arent connected to the story. I like grinding for plushies i have no problem with that. But since ew came out and seeing more grind on top of more grind its like a big hamburger sandwich of pain. It pushes me off the game cause i dont want to always have a headache attempting to progress futher into the game.

Like there's un official etiquette stuff like waiting till 3am to chop a grove, calling out rare resources, waiting in line for the wheels underground or in the markets, or not joining a spam pot table.

But they're not written down anywhere. So some players don't know and there are players who don't have the ability to follow them. (Like in switch you dont always see other players so you may be cutting in line at the wheels without knowing)

And lately some players have been so rude about people breaking the etiquette or not being "helpful" that it's just been really bad and turning people off the game

Basically what Rain said. They started out as "kind gestures" players would agree on doing out of good faith, as a way to cooperate with others. But later down the line, and in part due to the way certain resources are designed, some players started becoming very cutthroat about people calling out resources and such.

It doesn't help most of these "rules" mostly started on discord, so if you're not on the server, you're not really privy to them unless you hear them from someone else.

Honestly, just play as you want. They're not rules, so they can't be enforced, no matter if people threaten to report you for them. As long as you're not being actually rude to others, you can simply play the way you want.

I think you're completely right. I think most people will forget about these situations and move on.

I have had many poor interactions with players in the two years I've been playing this game, and I only remember one of them specifically. The rest of them, I couldn't tell you their name. I likely couldn't even really remember what it was exactly they did. All I know is that there had been times where someone did something or said something to me that made me upset.

The one I do remember is the one where I was the one acting like an 🍑 . I don't remember the users name, but I remember exactly what happened and what I said, and I regret it. I was not my best, and I said something that was harsh. I wish I could remember who it was, and apologize, but I can't.

I'll just have to forever feel bad for what I said, and hope that it didn't cause that player to decide to stop playing.

For trading purposes and things, it's depends on the person. Sometimes it's about collection and wanting to get 1 of everything to have on display. Some people like decorating with them on their plots (esp like, for example, i love the sernuk ones bc theyre just the right size to put on stools/chairs imo).

A huge thing tho is def just the collection, and the 'feel good' feelings and vibes. it's about the only thing (imo) that you can earn currently, so i can def see how it's nice to work towards those for some folks.

anyway the short answer is that the CM who'd started the program, moved on to a new opportunity, and not long after there was significant studio downsizing. some of us are still bopping around! but unfortunately it didn't see much support after that, so we all just kinda helped out how we could or went our separate ways

i'm hopeful with Lacie's recent announcement that we might be able to revive it, there's certainly space for a community ambassador/ helper program to flourish, even if it takes a new form under new leadership

Maybe I'm just too old, but I feel most of the younger NPCs act more immature than they should. I just assumed that's how their society works. Most of them are college age or older (early 20s in human) but they still act like teenagers. I don't feel she's any less mature than the others her age. Maybe it's just how they're written.

I have some food for thoughts here but i want 3 things in the near future.

1. Bring old Twitch Drops like Rugs or Plushies back in Zekis Capsule.

2. Get new things in the Guild Store like give Auni all flowers and maybe let us buy plushies there cause why am i doing weekly quest if i cant spent my coins for better things like maybe a plushi or the mixed hydrogenia flower no i need to buy my 100th treasure chest.

3. Give us things to buy with renown. Maybe a shop where you can buy the npcs Cloths with renown when we got max friendship with them or the old friendship rewards from the refer a friend reward. So you would reward player that play the game a lot and often.

I ask because while I don't host often, I want to have the option eventually.

For recipes like the celebration cake, you'd want to have more than two stations so each person gets their own. (i.e, there's 3 bakers, so 3 ovens)

The other reason is for overprepping, so more people can participate by throwing in extra ingredients and still get credit in the recipe.

Elderwood expansion will probably be part of the next story update ||Ulfe is talking about the Umbraan Village/Zendruu Tree||

Bahari City seems too unlikely honestly, would require a ton of work, NPCs are a heck ton of work and a city would need lots of them, especially the ones mentioned already
and at best a generic NPC system as well

I think they're very much aware it exists, it's just one of those things that's very divisive in the community. But just like the player etiquette, there's no written rules against it. As long as no one is being rude about it and let others play the way they want.

Because honestly, I've seen it come from both sides, people getting upset at those playing spampot and viceversa. Best you can do in that case is just to report the rude behaviour.

Usually they join the table at the corner or they'll say "spampot at x table". The loading issue doesn't help for sure, but that's more on the game than players.

We've constantly asked S6 to enable us to do private hotpot parties to avoid these issues but alas

It does, but it sometimes takes a couple weeks before they're actually punished (or at least it used to -- it's been a while since someone came into tech complaining that they couldn't get into the game because banned)

It does if you have a legitimate, serious issue that you are reporting and aren't reporting something that isn't against the rules, but only your personal ideals.

I've definitely had in-game reports followed up on personally when I was being harassed by someone.

Has there been anything said about if they plan on making cooking like.. Not miserable? Such as being able to cook more than 1 thing at a time?
And maybe a way to recycle/sell unwanted furniture?

I love this game so much so far! But the cooking system especially makes me not want to dive deep into it at all lol. I have like 8 campfires setup atm.. But i dont think that should be the solution xD

cooking mechanic wise is easy for me, but the ui can be a little confusing with the ingredients. it took me a while to figure out when i first started

there’s a bug i hope you don’t encounter with cooking where your character can freeze up while you’re stirring/mixing/what have you. you can try to send /unstuck in the chat at that point (or open the menu and choose the unstuck option, depending on your platform) that will reset you to the front of your plot, which allows you to run back in and resume the activity. cooking also has some accessibility issues i’m hoping will be addressed.

another thing you can do is go into settings and turn off cooking animations.

the pan frying mechanic is also the least intuitive to me, so definitely ask questions if you run into issues with it!

have had this happens more times than i'd like to mention while i enjoy the cooking minigames for the most part, i can definitely see some of them (specially chopping green onions) being overwhelming for some folks and agree on cooking needing some more accessibility

still got flashbacks from the days of jumping ui while making celebration cakes

i couldn’t do green onions on controller, i had to swap to kbm to have any chance of doing it i don’t even have accessibility issues with my hands beyond temporary disabilities (mining gave me a repeated stress injury when i was doing it for too long — can’t imagine what it’s like for folks with chronic pain, etc.) really hoping the microsoft team-up will help alleviate some of these problems!

ooo sliders are a game’s best friend! and yeah, from the screenshots i’ve seen, the size of the pinned quests and stuff is… i’m glad that it’s bigger from an accessibility standpoint, but it seems really disruptive for small screens? switch users in particular must be struggling. options are the most accessible thing you can provide and i hope they start giving more of them!

||crowded is a good word for it! i’ve been super busy lately so haven’t been able to play much, unfortunately. mostly just hop on to help folks with (irony not lost on me here) cooking i also felt like the new “obtained a thing” notification (like when you forage something and it shows a thing on the left side of the screen) seemed really big. i don’t have any quests pinned, which is why i’m going off of screenshots for that opinion. but i do hope the adjustment has been helpful for people with vision disabilities that were unable to see things like quest status previously. i think it shows that they’re listening to feedback. accessibility is difficult cos there’s no one size fits all. options are always the way to go ||

i 100% agree on all this! i definitely also find the new pop ups to be a bit big and makes it easy to miss out on what you've picked up (so im constantly checking my inventory now ) but im sure its been helpful for others too, and that's a trade off im willing to take
