Tbf there's nothing really 'quick' about the bucks being made off palia like it is a 6 year long f2p development. When I think of game devs making quick bucks over a his product I think of mobile games that are pushed out in a few months and stuffed with progress blocking macro transactions

i think that depends on the studio themself and not the players as much, if it was for “love of creating” everything would be free but because they have server(s) to keep up they need to make money (and also payback whoever it is they need to) so yea things are going to be worth money, as mentioned the shop itself isn’t bad but (personally) i think prices are a tad high but i don’t buy them atm just because i can’t (irl sucks and to me that comes first) but as you mentioned some ppl have issues where they have that “i need to buy this now”

they do( now) but the issue with that is it’s not a new pop up everytime you play the game, it’s in an announcement that (for me) i have to navigate to the announcement tabs in the game itself

Yes, it is. And I have personally chosen to stop playing Palia altogether until they rethink that choice.
Palia might not paywall gameplay itself, but they paywall 99% of the things I would want to engage in that gameplay for.

It's not about playing dressup, even. It's about seeing that one really awesome looking player as you're exploring the world, and thinking "woah, they look awesome, what do I need to do to be able to look like that??" and making it a goal to strive towards.
But... if the answer to that is, every single time, "just go buy from the cash shop" then there can't be a goal to strive towards, because premium items aren't earned. They're just bought.

all we can do is talk tbh as players, yes some stop playing, some wait for more content to be added, for it to be out of beta, for various other reasons. we as players can want what’s best for the game but as it is currently in the hands of S6/Daybreak the only way to “hold them accountable” is not to pay and not to play but for many (myself included) i love the game too much to just drop it, even if it is repetitive atm because it’s a small world

I guess I'm just tired of seeing the same demands in here, seeing the same people asking for the same things over and over. Players with great feedback not even being acknowledged. S6 making little effort in getting their players involved with their game. You want to know why I have an axe to grind with S6? Because I'm tired of loyal players being treated like dirt across the industry.

While yes, there are the holidays to contend with, December has been their biggest drop in average players to date.

Earnable end-game rewards for grinding out skills and various challenges, as well as repeatable content that offers some sort of actual challenge or team-based gameplay. We've given so many ideas for what that might look like, but until people actually get a reason to keep playing after the initial charm has worn off... I don't see Palia being successful long-term.

It's an RNG grind though, so like you said it should have a pity system otherwise some players are going to get burned out and quit the game after 100+ hours of hot pot.

If people are not playing, then they are not paying. Simple as that. No one is going to log into a game JUST to browse the cash shop- there needs to be other gameplay that keeps them invested, in order to be able to justify buying anything.

Home decor is fun, for a while, but I got bored of it being what feels like the -only- earnable thing to work towards. There's a reason most successful MMOs don't focus on one, single thing as the only endgame activity or type of reward, and there's a reason why most games that focus their monetization on cosmetics still let you earn some.

your first mistake was trying to do anything nice for traumala

for anything oyster-related, i recommend not trying to grind it, cos that’s how it gets frustrating imo. once you get oyster meat/pearl/green pearl, you can at least request them. my personal favorite way to get oyster drops is ingredients bags from hot pot wheel, cos i really like the mini game. unfortunately it won’t help with einar’s pebble 😞

because the devs made the game way to grindy for some to be bothered to play the normal way, when you get garbage like ingredients, fireworks, and gold (all things you can easily get from just playing the game -ingredients and gold, or are completely worthless outside of selling -fireworks) most of the time instead of the pirate set items or the large plushies. spampot can get you more coins within the time frame of the hotpot game

not really. a few characters have dialogue lines suggesting they don't like you dating certain other people (like reth isn't a fan of you dating tish and vice versa, which is... understandable) but other than that no. you can date everyone if you like.

yeah... but even then, reth doesn't make you break up with her or anything so it doesn't really matter in the end. hodari doesn't say anything about your other romances afaik, the only other one i had a negative line from was ||hassian, about being disappointed you're wearing someone else's pin. however he'll say during tamala's lvl 4 romance quest that he's fine with you dating others even though he's monogamous|| so shrug

being poly is pretty normal in palian culture apparently. ||jel|| is explicitly fine with you dating others, and you can be part of a poly relationship with both ||nai'o and kenyatta (or break them up if you prefer)||, the others afaik don't say anything about you dating others

!hello! i want to discuss something about gardening, if 1 soil (3x3 positions) is going to have a variety of seeds, or all same seeds, the "pointed soil" should/could add the ALT button to ADD the "on-hand" Fertilizer, so the soil (3x3) 9 spots adds the fertilizer just like the apple tree does! so the soil can identify the apple tree or the ALT button? maybe?

for Prove Sua Devoção you need to plant 3 trees. you'll only get tree seeds by chopping medium and large trees, though. you might need to upgrade your axe or get help from someone who's willing to party up with you (as loot is shared when in parties)
for Como um pássaro: you can make both leather and fabric in your loom. you'll need cotton (buy seeds at zeki's and grow in your garden) for fabric and sernuk hide (chance drop from hunting sernuks) for leather. edit forgot the planks: just feed some sapwood (alburno, the light-colored wood) to your sawmill. it'll cut your logs into planks.
for that last quest, you won't be able to access the Underground from the store, yet. that's something you'll unlock after that quest is complete. to access the Underground, open your map and look for the Remembrance Garden. the entrance will be right under the garden. if you follow the river along the shore going towards the garden, eventually you'll find a big sewer door. but Zeki will only be there after 9PM in-game time

I honestly got roped into Palia from a few irl buddies I met playing RS decades ago. Back on the topic of the recent update, beekeeping would have been a cool feature to have in Palia. But we know that S6 doesn't come out with those.

One of the major failings of S6 is that they are evidently deathly allergic to having any open communication with players. So how can you figure out what players want the most in your game, or what can be improved, when you only implement what YOU want to be in the game?

Not to get too off-topic. But one of the reasons I will praise OSRS until the end of the time is that they have a polling system where they vote which updates they want into the game. If it fails the poll, it doesn't make it into the game. It's not perfect but it has been a good faith gesture by the Jmods to the community for years. They have Jmod livestreams where they showcase future content and answer questions. They communicate with plugin developers and wiki editors to get QoL plugins and drop rates. In my opinion, this is the future of MMOs.
