yeah man, basically what everyone's saying... i'll lay it out in a way that helps me understand it and hopefully it'll help you and anyone else as well.
Last week i got 6 reactions (in total). 2 on number 1 / 2 on number 2 and 2 on number 4. This is with me posting on facebook, discord, X, twitter.
So basically - it's going to take me 5 + years to get 1k reactions on a single one... It's not worth your time and effort for all the votes you do and get absolutely destroyed at the end of the week when you realize the 15+ hours a day you spend decorating / gathering and voting other peoples stuff to help them doesn't get returned at all...
These are my thoughts and experiences. I hope you are able to find peace as i have done... i'm no longer voting on anything anymore to me Home Tours doesn't exist and i wish i hadn't put mine up this week but afterwards i wont be putting it up anymore.
I think you've hit the nail on the head. Should we start a petition lol? Maybe if enough people alll come together and basically submit one big "feedback," they'd listen... although, we shouldn't have to take those measures to be heard.
I'll be done with house tours after this week again too. I took a break already for a few weeks to work on my current plot and that definitely wasn't worth it seeing how things are going.
How are the devs srsly not hearing us? š
You're missing the point in thinking anyone else cares... they don't. These arguments have been thrown around everywhere since the home tours released. It's just one big popularity contest.
I'm aware, I've also been here since home tours released. I think people care. I was mostly joking about the petition. It's obviously a popularity contest, I just think it shouldn't be. And I think it's worth speaking up about how messed up it is.
you normally have to pay for it but its free atm so š ive tried it [paid for it], its a good change of pace from palia
The only way to "fix" it is to remove the trending entirely ... if they wanted to do anything like that it should be called a showcase and a person can't be on it for more than 24 hours, but it's like anything in any game people will find a way to abuse it the way they have with the trending and troll houses on purpose... it is what it is imo .. .
The game is still fun w/out the house tours and i'll keep playing with that feature turned off... This discord has helped me more than looking at any of the houses have on the tour section when it comes to getting "Inspiration" or copying some one elses great idea haha
if they would just change all of the tiered nameplates to achievements, where you give the reaction to count, it would solve the house tour problem imho
This!!! I know for a fact they've been getting tons and tons of feedback saying exactly this... yet they choose to ignore it. š¤ it would literally solve the problem for everyone. Those of us who aren't streamers or in big friend groups could actually slowly earn our nameplates...
exactly, doesn't matter if houses are on the board or not, as the player controls the reactions. it would fix the trending board to actually show amazing plots instead of empty ones as people will probably not vote for empty/plush plots. people don't have to stress because it will no longer just be a weekly thing and won't have to worry about losing the reactions
and yes, i have sent in this feedback
You get it. Palia should hire you!
I have also sent in pretty much the same feedback multiple times. Every time they update and don't fix house tours, they get another one from me.
Are you meant to get that many reactions in ONE WEEK?
Oooooo yes that is what I wanted. I need to find this stall lol!
@celest maple ^^
Yay! Thanks!
Yes. Basically the tier 4 plates are meant for content creators and lucky ppl
Bruh thats just dumb
Same, I already have the nameplate I want. It's just a nice thought that someone could visit and enjoy my plot š
Same, I always place a plot up in case anyone wishes to visit.
Same. I publish my plot if anyone wants to see even tho it's nothing special
I even specifically tell people they don't have to vote
I have my JP plot again
, did some Minor editing as I managed to get some extra space š
. It's not that visible
Iām not a mastermind like some players, mostly because I donāt know how to execute it or the game doesnāt allow for it, but I know how to decorate (irl and in game). I put in the work, so I want people to see it. I donāt want a āspeed tour.ā It also rubs me the wrong way that I think some people have an āelitistā attitude towards viewing plots. If itās empty, thatās one thing, but Iāll always explore, and if itās just an empty house, I move on.
Pretty sure I've seen that plot and LOVE it! I'll check when I get home
Yeah, I love looking at other people's plots. It's cool to see new ideas and creativity. I always look around before I vote, it's more fun that way š
I sometimes like to explore as well, especially if something catches my eye, no matter the house sizes or how much decor they have.
Me too! As long as this game has been out, and with all of the tutorials available, many people have glitched plots (whether itās minor or āall outā). I just think some people forget that just because you can do something cool doesnāt mean itās necessarily ābetter.ā
If I tell someone Iām going to their plot, Iām going to explore. Sure, Iāve stumbled on more that may be a bit plain (plain as in not much decor), but Iāll still look around.
Definitely guilty of having a few glitch builds
I do, as well, and thereās absolutely nothing wrong with that. I just think itās poor taste to crap on someoneās non glitched build (yep, there are folks with that mentality).
Sometimes the smallest things catch my interest. Like a simple shernuk placed in a certain way, sometimes it is so cute to look at the minor stuff and details š„°
I know that was an example, but those sernuks just look creepy to me. š¤£
Also I think I came up with an original idea cuz I haven't seen anything like that on other plots (picnic on cliff)
Lol. I like the little shernuk xd. I gave that as an example because I saw one recently and it was just so cute placed xdd
On one of the cliffs out of bounds?
Oh!! I saw when you posted pics in gen some time ago
The plushies, yes! I love the Sernuk plushies. The one that is craftable is just odd.
I have my waterfall tower š, haven't seen a build at the exit of Bahari. The plot is almost done, still thinking wat else to add
Iāve seen stuff on cliffs, but it wasnāt a picnic. I know thereās things that Iāve thought of on my own and later saw someone do the same thing.
I donāt know who it was, and at this point it wouldāve been a year ago, but someone did a whole build out of bounds in the back water area (default landscape), and it was the first time I was just speechless. I was like H O W? This was before the building blocks, before the gourmet bowl techniques, before any of the stuff we have now.
Oh yes, they were a few that did the float method and had tree houses out of bounds
The day they give us water, so we donāt have to dye furniture, will be the day I will be a happy peach.
Water cubes would be cool, I would have made a lake on this plot š¤©, with lakehouse
It was the first time I saw a build out of bounds, so I was just in awe.
I love the water, so Iād LOOOOOVE to build a lake house. Itās why shipwreck isles is my favourite landscape, but I dislike the building area being all sand.
I would prefer terrain tool, but I don't see that happening, maybe never š¢
That and itās the largest plot, but still has a small building area.
All plots have same building areas.
I was actually thinking to sugest to give us the ability to buy grid, so we can place it on flat ground. We would buy it with renown, and it can be like 1 square big (like the floor building blocks size 4/4) because so many new landscapes have such nice areas where you just want to plop even a harvest house or gazebo and decorate it.
I know, but what I meant is itās small in comparison to the size of the plot.
Or go back to square one: implement more writs that extend from edge to edge on all landscapes. That way the renown used is for a larger area than just 4x4
Yes, but not sure if possible because of the default landscape
Letting us place grid would be nice though. To be able to place anywhere there's flat surface.
Hi everyone, Can someone tag me on the channel where I can get house tour visitor ? I can't see it
Thank you, I can't see it, its weird. But ty
Make sure you have the channel checked off in here
id:browse
Anyone else not able to get the game to own at all š
I click play and it goes to a loafing screen then after a few minutes it crashes and closes
Thanks
Anyone experiencing major lag with the switch? I cannot even play anymore itās so annoying, itās never been like this for me before. Anyone have any tips to making it playable? š¦
Iāve had lag alone with half loaded buildings.
There was a update this morning any idea what it was
I haven't been on yet but I would guess Maji Market.
What happens when I replace a pin with another?
Nothing is there unless i need to restart my switch
Mostly nothing, the person you took the pin down will mention it in the next text
Ok thank you
Maji has been on since 3 h ago
Ok thanks
UNPLAYABLE š¤¬
I updated and restarted several times but im still getting stuck on this screen
Anyone else or is that just me? Not sure what to do :/
Clicking Y for announcements, going in and exiting finally got me through. No idea why lol
I have no clue, haven't encountered that bug yet. If you don't get an answer here, #š²āconsole-zone or #š»ātech-help might be able to help.
strange
Has anyone else had problems with chapaa chase? The round started and the chapaas ran, but it seemed like no one could catch them. I couldn't pick any up and from my end it looked like other players on the server were struggling to do so. When I tried to switch servers and shut the game down completely, I kept getting dumped back into the same server. Just me or maybe a switch thing?
nah it's a palia thing
That was happening the first time too.
Alr as long as it's not just a me thing
Iām sad that it the same maji that two weeks ago
Don't worry they took the time to give you a new outfit instead š only costs real money
it will be the same for the forseeable future until they maybe change the items available to the luna ones around the end of january
the return of the market was always aimed at the majority of the playerbase who started after the first maji market, at least we as longtime players got 11 new items to get, sure it sucks but we can't rly expect them to add 50+ items everytime, 10 is a good number to start with imo
I just want to new year one, it sad to get a maji each month but nothing to do because we have everything and when it Time for new year all will be reset and loose all this Time for nothing
i just wanna know when we can buy the cat pet with the witch hat x.x
in the next hour
oh snap
anyone else seeing the orange glow on the jaak o lantern puppy and thinking it's the chapaa dust cloud for a second? š
Bummed there wasn't a hotfix for the market š¦ chapaa chase wouldn't let anyone pick them up, balloon pop glitches
Yeah that was disheartening
i just crash everytime ill see if its the same but i havent been able to play maji since they pushed it last patch
Is the store drop, maji returning, and the potato pods the only new stuff happening today/tomorrow?
yes? today was not a patch, next patch is end of the month
That's what I thought, my bf is convinced we're getting more stuff for the fall shop/maji and I kept telling him that that's probably it until a dedicated patch we would see a few days before now
They really need to add a cash shop ping role or something. It's kinda annoying being pinged all the time about it /gen
-reads latest post in #š¢āpalia-news -
how my brain translated it:
Halloween is in full swing in Palia, and you can celebrate by [buying things from the premium shop], including the [cash shop exclusive items A and B!] And donāt miss the wicked-awesome [premium shop exclusive], [more premium store exclusives], [even more premium shop exclusives], and [MORE premium shop exclusives!!!] , available now in the Premium Store. Whatās the best part about Halloween? You get to [spend money in our premium store]! So check out the new [yet another premium exclusive item], also available now!
Yeah, it doesn't feel great always having the cash shop thrust on you. Especially when they don't offer alternatives. Doesn't feel very celebratory.
in august 2023 it was celebrate the maji market (by buying from the cash shop) and this year it's celebrate the real life holiday (by buying from the cash shop)
Especially when it feels like its saying "you don't get to participate in this holiday's main attraction (aka wearing costumes) at all unless you pony up cash"
How will the new trading mechanic work? I was looking for more information.
we don't know, all the information is in the posts on palia.com/news and that's just that it will start with potato pods but not stay exclusive to them
they will share more info when they'll introduce the system in one of the few patches left this year
Why they feel the need to mention it more than once in the announcement? It's like if someone just kept repeating the same lines
end of october & end of november, then the holiday/new year break probably
Think the trading system will be introduced in the next patch?
they didn't mention a specific patch for it, only "later this year"
Hey devs how about maybe we get one pet, outfit and tool skin for free?
sad its just a dollhouse outfit
if they will ever do that it would be something they'd keep for 1.0 100%
Theoretically next patch can be considered "later this year" since they said that.
December maybe
yeah and end of november patch is also considered later this year
That is considered wayyy later this year š¤£
"Whenever they feel like it" I guess
thank you!
Probably so š
The latest news post specifically mentioned the launch of Palia's trading system, so it made me think it could very well be this patch.
okay i'll be (im)patiently waiting!
Future patch better include bug and glitch fixes bc my god I'm ready to snap my switch in half
Oh goodness! Let's all hope these glitches will be fixed then!
yeah I know, so did the patchnotes, but they keep mentioning the launch of the trading system when they mention potato pods so its no confirmation at all
Well we got the chapaa outfit at the launch with beta and it's still obtainable through referrals. We got free outfit at launch of switch. It can be possible to get outfit at 1.0
We don't want the outfit, pets, and toolsskin or whatever else to be premium exclusively all the time.
Like the Halloween glider could have been free imo alongside the moon shop for example
I just hope they considered seasonal stuffs for free / logins etc
or even for coin
Yeah they often refer to the trading system when talking about the potato pods. I'm just hoping that it is this patch haha.
I hate to says it but, right now economic is not good right now due to irl stuffs happening
there's seasonal decor at the spooky moon register in front of zeki's store, but they've said no premium like items for free (referrals & twitch had a couple - so trading promo for premium like items)
anyone know or a guess? what we are going to be trading?
potato pods to start
what are you trading a pod for?
Possibly another pod so you can get ones you didn't get yet...
pod for pod between players https://palia.com/news/dev-blog-looking-ahead
Weāre also debuting Potato Pods! What are Potato Pods, and how do you get them? Weāre planning an entire line of these sweet, tuber-ular, and spud-tacular collectable plushies. There will be a significant number of Potato Pods to collect, and youāll have the opportunity to get a random Potato Pod periodically š¤«, adding an element of surprise to your collection.
But the best way to ensure you complete your collection will be to trade with your friends. Thatās right ā a trading system is planned for a future update (not currently planned for Patch 0.183), and the system will not be exclusive to Potato Pods! Stay tuned for more deets.
ok that makes sense but what else I wonder? Is it just food related stuff cuz most ppl aren't fans of cooking?
we don't know, they haven't said - pods are just the start/pilot of this new feature
Pods are one of the most useless things this game keeps hyping up in posts
I have been trying to put the clues together to see if I can guess lol
pods are nothing more than palian funko pops, change my mind
well I guess there isn't much else to put in the " omg hype Halloween" email
I wonder if 2 of the least favorite skills, bugs and cooking is what we'll trade for cuz maji market is giving out bugs and vegetable plushies
If it came out and it didn't include bugs, cooking, or fishing it would really be a slap in the face to the already ignored Disabled players so I have to assume it includes those skills
my concern is that they might end up putting so many restrictions on trading that it defeats the point of trading :x
Wondering if they will allow trading SQ items, as requests currently do not allow them.
But if they plan to allow trading plushies, that's a good sign furniture will be tradeable at least.
Would be cool if we get a t-shirt that says "beta tester" or something
Another ping, another pushy premium "update".
at this point i'm starting to wonder if we're ever gonna see actual new gameplay
Patience, Elderwoods is coming in early 2025. They're just pushing out filler content until then, I'm assuming that working on Elderwoods is taking up most of their resources
im super excited for that update cause the amount of lore that might be hidden is making my brain happy
Premium Cosmetics is filler content
i mean, it still feels such "up in the air", we have no idea of the real scope and at the moment, the regularity with how often those premium stuff comes out feel more like a cashgrab than anything else (personnaly)
Elderwoods is coming out early 2025, but that doesnt mean that such a high proportion of the filler should be almost entirely premium items + heavily RNG-based plushes.
I kinda wonder if they are going to allow us to trade ONLY the potato pods at first as a way of soft launching the trading between players. Itās low stakes. See how it goes trading something free. Then open up trading other items if it is successful.
I'm excited cuz there's probably gonna be new fish
are they gonna add legendary rarity fish
Especially when for months it's been an issue where patches are heavily weighted towards cash shop items
i wont be happy to fish again but i NEED all the fish!
I haven't logged in to collect any, been waiting 6 months for continuing of the story
or some kind of new things to farm that isn't plush
They're also doing bugfixes and optimizations. They bumped the plant and building block limits not that long ago
and thats okay to take long breaks waiting for content. I tend to play other games watching for patches
Does anyone know how the maths with bundles works? No matter what I do, I can't get the costs of the new frogs bundle fit with the original costs of the items and the reduction it claims to have... The math refuses to work and normally it's not that hard!
(I see a cost of 1997 for the entire bundle, sum of the items' costs as shown would be 4250. They claim a 52% reduction, which would leave me with 2040 coins cost. So, doesn't fit. Now, I already have the account link outfit, so 850 coins less according to the bundle's screen. That's 3400 coins, 52% reduction would be 1632 coins. Assuming a 53% reduction on the full bundle would give me almost the desired 1997 and I could see it as a rounding issue. Taking into account that I already have one item, it'd actually be a 41,3% reduction though...??)
it's going to be so fresh when that new map comes and all the new things we might be able to work towards
Bugfixes are great and all, but doesn't really do anything to account for a lack of gameplay. It's not like they've just done gameplay updates either, it's been months since there's been anything gameplay wise that's new that isn't a plushie (or the very buggy maji market)
It's easy to say "well it's coming" but that's been the saying for months. Obviously it takes time, but people are still allowed to be upset that they seem to be prioritizing certain aspects of the game (cash shop and rng to boost player metrics) than they do on creating substantial and engaging content
when does the Maji Market leave again? is it the 15th?
Yes, it came today and will stay for a week.
(Timezones and stuff might mess with the details a little, so if it came for you yesterday evening it'll also stay until 14th evening etc.)
My expectations for a f2p game ride entirely on how much they push their premium store and its prices.
If the f2p game doesn't ask much from me, then I don't ask much from the game.
If the f2p game is constantly asking me to spend tons, then I expect tons from the game.
And I don't mean just in terms of gameplay, I mean in terms of how the game is promoted too..... We just got an announcement in #š¢āpalia-news that can be summed up as:
"halloween is here, and we have premium mask, another premium mask, premium glider, premium tool skins, premium cat, a LIMITED TIME premium dog.... oh and check out our premium outfit too! ...oh and also a potato"
other f2p games, in my experience, aren't asking AAA prices for a virtual outfit and usually have ways for players to get those items without paying
If they added a way to grind premium currency my Palia addiction would get even worse
But would be awesome ngl, as unlikely as it is
It could be something like "exchange 100k gold for 100 Palia coins"
I would totally buy a battle pass for the game if they added a way to get limited currency each month for the sub
Well maybe it would be cozy pass in palia, battle part would not fit
The main issue (aside from the expensive prices) is just that they've paywalled cosmetic progression. Holidays in the game world fall flat because the only way to outwardly celebrate them is to feed the cash shop. They've made Jel basically just a cash shop viewer, and his whole building functionally useless.I mean pets could have really cool features, but they can't do anything because they won't add a free one.
And with the prices so expensive, and so many in a cost of living crisis, it does kind of suck that the only visual progression in the game is decorating
ah, this again
what does it matter if "0% of the gameplay is paywalled" if it feels like 80% of the content you would play the game for, is
The game is great if you just wanted to play an online multiplayer housing sim, but if you wanted something more, like, yknow, visual progression on your character, the game basically has nothing to play for or work towards, it just points you to the cash shop
I also just think that claiming you're in beta while having limited cash shop items is very gross
Also I dislike how the new items are not multiples of 425. Meaning that you will have leftover coins if you want to buy them. This is already borderline scummy practices
Personally I'm not interested in any of the new items, but it still triggers me
Oh yeah, on the topic of scummy practices, I want to bring up a little something called a broken promise
Remember in the monetization blog when they said that we wouldn't have to worry about FOMO and that items would always stick around? Let me find the exact quote
The whole nature of having to buy a special currency to buy stuff in game is just gross in general, especially claiming it was something they were forced to do by nintendo
https://palia.com/news/palia-business-model
The key takeaway is that you wonāt be forced to buy loot boxes, or be overly pressured by the fear of missing out (FOMO) to get that one item you wanted before it leaves a continuously rotating store. We think that by providing a shopping experience with high agency and low pressure, weāll hold ourselves to a higher standard of products and youāll leave the shop feeling great about your decision to spend (or not spend!).
If you look closely at that announcement in #š¢āpalia-news , they explicitly call out the Lantern puppy galdur pup as a "timed exclusive"
So much for no FOMO, I guess
Isn't the witch cat also exclusive?
The system with a virtual currency is easier to implement, since they only need to register however many coin amounts you can buy and not every single thing you can buy in the Nintendo/Steam store
only the galdur pup is mentioned as timed exclusive
Yeah, I get that. I just wish they were honest that it was easier instead of claiming that they literally couldn't have actual prices
Ahh
Well, new owners new rules I guess
I'm assuming it will come back every Halloween
Heck I already had fomo cause I missed the floating candles last year. No one knew if the Halloween stuff would be back so I was sad. And look at that...... Halloween season came again and that stuff is all back. So likely it will happen will happen with the pet
They also addressed the Maji Market fomo by making it monthly
Exactly
part of "fomo" is fear of missing out
you can still be afraid of missing out when there's no clear communication on whether or not we'll ever see a "timed exclusive" again
considering that, afaik, this is the first time they've made something in the premium store limited time, I wouldn't rely on maji market as setting any kind of precedent
So this is gonna sound like mad copium but what if the irregular pricing of the new items hints at Palia coins being earnable in game in the future
Very unlikely but one can dream amirite
I mean, it's a nice thing to dream about but yeah... I very highly doubt it'll happen
Even if they choose to do that, it's not happening until 1.0 at the very least
I'd say considering how unwilling they've been to lower the prices, I can't see them making coins earnable without increasing the prices of the cash shop
Because there's little incentive for them to do so. If you take a look at Kilima you'll see a ton of people wearing premium cosmetics. Which means people are buying
Just because some people can afford them doesn't mean lower prices wouldn't do them good. A lower price point will, more often than not, increase sales.
I'm not defending them btw, just trying to guess their logic
making currency earnable could only ever be a good thing imho
some people will never buy at full price because the price tag is too high, but let them earn a little each day and once they reach a certain amount they might actually be willing to pull out their wallet to make up the remainder of the difference
I think they're trying to coast by on whales, but don't realize that eventually those whales will get bored and there wont be any incentive to buy anymore if they aren't playing
Yes! Exactly
I would also love more cheaper offerings, like the Harness Your Power set.
Honestly the ability to purchase seperate pieces instead of the whole outfits would be great. They already have the functionality since they're already seperated into their respective categories
That's what we've been asking for
I think people have been fighting for it since alpha š„¹
They already had premium cosmetics in alpha?
Well I guess makes sense since the game is free and the devs need money
if they had cosmetics for alpha testers to use they were probably only for test purposes and not for money bcs of the progress resets in alphas
They were paid, actually. Testers were given the coins back, plus 10% but the prices increased after beta so they didn't have enough to rebuy the outfits they bought during alpha
(Here's a dev blog from 2022 btw where they mention the cash shop) https://palia.com/news/alpha-2-our-next-testing-journey
Hey everyone long time no see how's everything going in the world of Palia?
I know I don't play Palia anymore, but it's still nice to see some of the same faces and some new ones having discussions in here on the state of the game. I just hope you're all being kind to one another š It is just a game after all.
How much does the new masks cost?
WHY did they increase it??
They have said they will never do this sadly :/ could change but unlikely it sucks
No idea, was a bad choice tho IMO
We been knew that they're greedy š
Hey everyone, long time no see? Whatās new? Oh⦠more paid cosmetics⦠I seeā¦.
Did the Switch port ever get better?
nope. its gotten even worse
Please tell me you are trolling me? I literally havenāt played it since the Switch port cause I though itād get better
I havent played in a couple months. How is the game as far as bugs? is it still getting progressively more buggy?
From what I can tell by lurking here, it's the usual patch one bug, don't fix ten, create twenty more
There's also been another mass wave of layoffs and an aquisition by another company within the past few months so ig we'll see where things go?
If you're on switch it's nigh unplayable.
don't forget tons of missed opportunities for fun quests/rewards and a broken home tour that makes the game a popularity contest
Considering how many people I see saying "just wait for Elderwood, they're busy on Elderwood" for the past few months, that new map better be a miracle cure imo
It also better come with about a 178° turn as far as communication, transparency, and accountability goes with the "full release"
Doesn't seem like I missed much other than maji market then š¦ That's a shame.
Don't worry, it's back
I loved playing Palia until around the time the wind temple update came out. Decided to keep playing despite all the bugs that came with that update for most of the summer. I think what killed this game for me was when they came out with the pirate furniture and put hot pot in the Underground when I started to see a shift in the community. I started seeing some really nasty behavior and Hot Pot was less fun and felt more like a part time job.
It just didn't feel like my time was being respected as a player which felt awful because I made so many great friends on the game, but I had to move on to other games where I felt like my time and money weren't being disrespected.
I agree, mostly...same vibe anyway. The game itself is pretty fun, about half of the community is great. A lot of the community problems I think would be alleviated by allowing offline play or solo servers. For the gameplay problems...well, that would likely require the devs to focus on that instead of cosmetics.
Unfortunately, there's no money in fixing bugs on a free game...and the devs are people that need to eat, too
To be fair, Once Human, the game I went to seems to suffer from a lot of the same issues. They still DO come out with decent updates, but they usually end up being very buggy. But, my Dragon let me tell you about the cosmetics they throw in their shop every week. $200 gacha loot boxes (cosmetic only, of course and on average it costs $200 to get every prize) every 2 weeks.
I think the greed is just an industry-wide issue at this point. Let's hope it just sticks to cosmetics.
I think the day they start adding that nonsense into Oldschool Runescape is the day I quit gaming forever lol.
I think a major problem is that they can't find a balance for fixing bugs and developing new things far in advance, would be nice if they'd be able to do just a completely bugfix focused patch, but thats just not possible
and we are definitely at a point atm where we can experience the impact the layoffs earlier this year had on the development of Palia
which was to be expected when the company was basically cut in 3 pieces and 2 pieces were thrown away
what you think about new werk of Maji event, i am disappointment, i hoped There will be some new items for collect but no š
sorry for my bad english
Was the maji market really all the exact same items they had last time?
There were a few different things...the balloons, for example
And you can buy arches now instead of just getting one as a prize
I was hoping more things would be for coin instead of tickets
last time in last week or last time in last year?
they added 11 new items compared to the one we had last year
from last weeks there were no changes (mainly bcs we had no patch as well)
I don't expect them to add any items to it at all in the near future
the market is clearly aimed at players who started after the first one last year
But its same like Last week
Oh yeah it will be
why you make pause between event week when its same, make longer and its better
To give people that can't play every day (or even every week) a chance
So I could log in right now and get the maji market arch?
after grinding a few tickets yeah
For a boatload of tickets, yes
Is that a permanent thing they put in the game now so that people don't miss out? Because if so that's great!
yuup
the market is now every month for a week
Perhaps I'll have to dust off my account and check it out then š
I love the Maji Market drums...waiting on those to become available to buy....idc I'll grind the tickets
(No plans for it, just wishful thinking)
u can buy them tho
? I didn't see that...where?
at the chapaa stall sign I thiink
I rly like that we can get multiple of the items, which we only got once last year, now
the 1stmaji market items are the best decor items we have imo
It's possible, they just won't do it, which is inexcusable, imo.
Glad to see you back, but I totally understand and feel your viewpoint. Palia doesnāt seem as cozy like it once was.
A lot of people left but I expect theyāll come back with the Elderwood update
Yeah the cuts from 200something down to 50something very obviously killed their capacity/bandwidth for adapting and regular bug fixes
Is the nameplate that you got at the MajiMarkt no longer available?
it's at the baloon stand for 6k tickets
Oh thanks i will take a look š
it's at the dock by the drums
I wish there were more cosmetic rewards to earn in game via quests, puzzels etc.. instead of spending a lot of money for some cosmetics.
Lately, I'm also not feeling the new cosmetics.
what yall be selling to make gil? I need a better method lmao
How much are you earning from apple/potatoes? Because I saw you said you sell those.
Those are a good income from farming.
You could try coking party's
Sounds about right
If you want more, either go mining/fishing/hunting wat ever you like. And sell wat you get.
Also cooking party's have a good income/hour. Check #1143270926394335282
ooh! i'll look into cooking, my play time is limited
Make sure you do it in weekend then, or when you have time. A 60 cake party can take around 1 hour for ex. But worth it.
around what time can we expect the new potato pods to be deliver by mail? logged in today and have none yet, re-checked the post and it only says it will come today and we should collect it before oct 21st
<t:1728493200:t>
kk ill recheck then, thx
is Jaak-O-Lantern Puppy Galdur Pup only time exclusive or all 3 Galdur pup is time exclusive this event?
all halloween themed galdur pups, at least thats how they mention it in the patchnotes
my god
Still waiting for Hassian to finish that soliloquy about my eyes
The moment I wanted a break from collecting home decor was the moment I realized that there is literally nothing else to work towards reward-wise š
it's either A) home decor or B) something you use to obtain home decor
This. I'm not a fan of decorating (could be because it's cumbersome on switch). But if you remove decorating out of this game, you remove a HUGE chunk of the core content, especially in the end game.
the main focus of the game is and probably always will be decorating
it doesnt mean it should be the only form of endgame that players can have goals to earn and work towards
like lets look at ffxiv for example. FFXIV doesn't make the entire goal of endgame about collecting stronger equipment. (and before anyone brings it up, yes, I KNOW FFXIV isnt a f2p game. That's not the point.)
What happens when you get the strongest equipment? What is there to do then?
Maybe you can collect some outfits to wear, or find some cool glams for your weapons, or perhaps you could collect different pets or mounts. Or perhaps you could decorate your house/apartment. There's a lot to do even after you finish getting the 'best' equipment for any given patch.
In Palia.... What happens when you finish decorating your house? What is there to do then?
Collect outfits? Nope, it's all cash shop.
Collect pets? Nope, it's all cash shop.
Find some cool skins for your tools? Nope, it's all cash shop.
Upgrade your glider...? Nope, there are no upgrades, and all the skins are cash shop.
but yeah thats why I still think a battlepass (a well designed one without pressuring the player to complete it but to be open end once selected) would be a good thing, they could include a free cosmetic at the end of the pass, boost player numbers with the pass, would also add something to do in the game with daily activities etc.
yeah definitely, hopefully they will figure it out within the next year
like... I have no issue with a cash shop, they gotta make money somehow.
and "you can't buy what you can earn, but you also can't earn what you can buy" is a fine stance to take... when applied on a per-item basis.
Palia is applying "paid only" or "earned only" to entire categories of items and that's why it's having issues with lack of rewards for anything other than home decor
maybe
but they dropped it in their marketing already so we'll have to see what they do with it
Nah, this is a solo game with other people running around. Really, it's whatever you want it to be, depending on how you play.
the definition of MMO as a genre is vague anyways so they are one to an extent on a technical level (perfect match with s6 and their vagueness lol)
their given enddates for login rewards were always clear tho?
except for once which ended like a day ealier than announced, thats the only one I can remember atm
same happens everytime they do twitch drops
We wanted bug fixes
We got lingerie
S6 What are y'all doing?
outsourcing their cosmetics so they save money on them
so they can use the money they save and earn with said cosmetics to pay their devs somehow I'd say
cosmetics don't interfere with bugfixing
but I rly hope they can use the 2 months no patch time from end of november until end of january (- their winterbreak) to fix some of the more annoying bugs
I'm not mad about the cosmetics existing...I'm concerned about the outfits offered.
Children play this game, too.
I'm grown and I don't want to see people running around in these barely covering outfits
It just seems weird to put that kind of thing in a game where the vibe is "cozy"
Just poking my head in as I absently scroll through my discord servers in the morning, this game will never beat the Spirit Halloween allegations imo with their cash shop offerings
part of why I feel this game has an identity crisis really
Anyone else have a problem with how some of the furniture looks nothing like the clip art and is also not modifiable...? I'm wasting hard earned resources on stuff that looks like it got fished out of a dumpster. š
Yeah, that's been an issue for ages
their outfit choices are questionable anyways sometimes
femme fatale would probably the best example for barely covered I guess
they probably have the concept art, then make a furniture based on that, then just use the concept art as a thumbnail
I really want to like this game but the more I time I invest in it the more I feel scammed. Like I'm giving you my money in the premium store, please make the game you promised us
they really take away from the immersion. when you're talking to an npc and they're wearing tunics or overalls or clothing you would find in a fantasy medieval setting and then suddenly pretty soldier sailor palia runs in the background, it's kinda off putting. most of the outfits fall into that category. like, yeah, the wedding dress may seem pretty, but can you realistically see someone carrying a pickaxe in that outfit?
i think for me itās context wise too, we have all these outfits that have magic tied to them but we canāt even use that in game, the wedding dress thing for me (cuz of other mmos) doesnāt bother me as much but i still like to try to imagine scenarios for the other outfits
Why do we have limits everywhere?? Chest-Limit 10,000 - flower-limit 1,000 - decoration-limit 3,000 š¦ Why?
performace limitations
Switch limitations prolly
switch is definitely a major reason, but the game in general is just not well optimized, it got better but they are still not there yet
thats no fun. you can make endless furniture, not sell it. but on the plot it is limited to 3,000. chest limit is also annoying...and then comes a new area with new items... š„“
where to go with it?
they will extremely likely increase the storage when they add like idk around 100+ new items to them game with the new zone.
the storage space we have is suitable for the items we currently have
they are working on improving the games performance so they can increase the decor limit in the future
in the meantime we have 10 plots to build on
10 plots to build on - with trees on the same position on every plot... :/
and they will increase it really? havent heard that yet.
trees (and other globalactors) bug will get eventually fixed, its at least on their radar
they talked alot about the plot limitations in their latest devblog
https://palia.com/news/dev-blog-looking-ahead
oh its only a bug with the trees? thought it is normal š thanks for the link...
I'd argue this game ain't for kids, more trending toward teen to adult. The NPCs swear, and the romancable ones can get suggestively saucy in their flirt dialogue. Plus Tamala... have you interacted with Tamala?
trees and other items like crafters etc currently count towards the limit on all plots, thats why an empty plot will already have items counting for it, thats not intended yeah
i just finally have a lot of flowers and wanted to implement a few ideas...but then there was just this limit. š®āšØ thank you... then we'll just wait until these limits go š
there was a time when it was 13+ https://support.palia.com/hc/en-us/articles/7474545281556-Game-Design-Philosophy#but-i-need-to-know-will-there-be-any-plans-to-add-family-friendly-filters-so-say-i-could-lock-my-kids-accounts-down-so-they-cannot-speak-to-others-or-others-speak-to-them-outside-preset-lines--15 and then they changed it to 10+, but yea sometimes i wonder xD
š yes I've fully friended and romanced everyone. Also, I didn't say it was for kids...but I know kids play it. TOS states you have to be at least 13...so they would still be minors for at least 5 years.
minors = kids (to me)
it was 10+ ever since they launched into open beta
but they require u to be 13+ to create an account
never understood why they don't use the teen age rating
I just want more soil plots lol
Mr Krabs voice Money! šµ
Zeki: Rethbob, me boy! Get back to work. AGHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Now I want to see Ashura dressed as a crab for Halloween
Oh wait....no....Zeki! š
I would see Ashura as more of a Larry the Lobster kind of person. Kenyata is Sandy. Reth is definitely Spongebob and Hassan is Squidward.
And of course farmer boy as Patrick.
Eshe remembers when they first invented chocolate.....sweet, sweet chocolate.....she always hated it
Decided to try the game again yesterday. Logged in, shot some balloons, bought the arch and logged out. 10/10.
ooh ok
wait im so confused I thought maji market was only for a week out of each month?
or is it this week and Iāve lost track of time loooool
it is, it restarted for this month yesterday
it probably threw you off because the first one just ended a week prior
I kinda like that they made maji market once a month now because now it gives me another reason to not feel committed to Palia if I can just log in every now and then and work towards a reward.
Still not sure how S6 is going to make enough money to keep the game afloat at this point but š¤·
It's just strange how in 2 years of playing Palia I had spent maybe $50 on cosmetics. Then in 2 months of Once Human I had spent around $400 in cosmetics because I wanted to. Both games are F2P models. Not saying OH doesn't have issues because it certainly does.
what made you want to spend money on OH cosmetics, that palia lacked?
That is wat I wanted to ask, but I felt like I didn't say it right š
A year ago I took a break after some uh.... unfortunate circumstance (coughs loudly) And I genuinely don't feel the drive to come back and spend my moneys cause there simply doesnt seem to be any more content. The content that has been released just feels like paid cosmetics.
What I REALLY WANT is more gameplay. I want more farming, I want animals, I want swimming, I want more main story progression, more minigames, more reason to interact with players... blah blah blah
but instead we get potatoes. lmao
I think I would come back to the game for kiwis
What you don't like Great Value funko pops
You ever play the Sims 4? I would come back if they game me an entire mini My Sims collection
LMAO
I think funko pops are creepy tbh
those big black soulless EYES. ā« ā«
I used to collect them a decade ago cause I got discounts when I worked at a bookstore but then I realized wait why am I doing this
we really do not talk enough about how swimming doesn't exist in this game lmao it's so silly
we can drown in our OWN YARD ffs
would be cool, like there's a sunken ships in bahari that could have rummage piles that push more of the pirate decor
The fade to black is kind of iconic in a way.... I slowly drift into the murky depths.... fading... watching my life flash before my eyes... only to be resurrected and S6 has put 5 new cosmetics in the shop just for me ā¤ļø
Ok this would be sick
absolutely yes... so much wasted potential
and imagine actually foraging for shells and coral in the water...
Sorry I didn't respond sooner but I was on lunch. What made me want to spend money on OH (Even though the entire playable game is F2P) was how they monetize. They have a battlepass system with a free and paid section that has amazing cosmetics on both versions. I can list off some other reasons in a moment.
Ok but hear me out - an underwater area! Like a whole new underwater region would be sick (oh wait that's Coral Island)
the title of the game should be "Palia - Missed opportunities at every turn" /jk
OH's battlepass, which they call "metapass" is less than $10 a month. There's also a deluxe version that costs an additional $24 I think it is but you get additional exclusive cosmetics but that one is a one-time payment every time a new battlepass comes out. In addition, the shop regularly has AMAZING furniture packs for sale that go for around $15-20 USD. But I think the quality of them is well worth the money. Where in Palia you might get a new scene for that price, the furniture packs usually contain around 15-20 wallpaper/flooring/ceiling skins and various pieces of themed furniture.
||I know I am a certified hater but low key I could get down with a Palia battlepass if it meant I got stuff||
Anybody know where the Halloween market is?
They'll usually come out with a new battlepass every season, and a new furniture pack every 2 weeks or so. There's a gacha loot crate as well, but I would not recommend those depending on your budget because on average they take $200 to complete. I bought the first one just to try it out and that's where half of the $400 comes from š
Of course there are outfit and weapon skins as well, but I didn't want to mention the weapon skins since Palia doesn't have weapons. The outfits are also 50/50 masculine and feminine; which I know has been a sore point in Palia.
infront of zeki shop is a register
me personally i don't hate the way the premium store works in palia, i actually like it better than the battlepass systems. the big problem with palia is the absolute lack. i played over 150h in two months because whatever little story we have is that good, but now i've done everything [that i care about doing] and there's nothing left for me. and people been saying it's been over six months (?) since the last real content drop. like. if they keep people excited they'll spend, trust. but there's nothing to hold our interest these days
hot fix with 3 hr projected downtime š seems like they're hearing either how bad this particular patch made things for folks or that ongoing performance/stability issues without hotfixing was erroding trust
its just 3 hrs bcs its a clientsided "hotfix", they always have the 3 hrs timeframe for anything client related and finish earlier than that most of the time
- the last quests were this patch 0.184 at the end of September with the additional market quests (beyond the previous market quests)
- before that the last quests (relationship quests only) were added in 0.180 at the end of May
- but the last main story quest line update was in 0.178 in March
not arguing in any particular direction, just pulling info from my notes since there's a question mark on the time elapsed there
That has been a recurring theme unfortunately. They'll come out with a new quest line or part of the story once or twice a year, maybe a couple events like maji market, then 50 things in their cosmetic shop during that time. If you look at their social feed or news it'll most likely be them pushing the latest xyz in the cosmetics shop. Simply put, the game started off strong but quickly became more style and less substance.
What's the point in buying a cool witch outfit if you're going to be sitting in your housing plot bored wearing said witch outfit because there's a lack of content in the game to explore?
that's my point. when people are interested, when they have things to do, they're more willing to buy stuff
cuz they don't wanna be looking at the same boring basegame character all their lives
What does Palia do better than other multiplayer games? I guess that's the big question.
I thought it was their home decor system. But after playing OH for 2 months I'm beginning to even doubt that now. At least in Once Human, the fridge can actually store food and you can actually sleep on the beds.
we can definitely tell that the layoffs delayed a ton of stuff (cosmetics are outsourced anyways so thats why they are not delayed)
before the layoffs we had a story update every 3-4 months which imo is a good schedule, hopefully they'll be able to get back to it once they've managed to get back on track
OH just has the generic lame build system literally any game nowadays uses
Palia's home decor system is definitely one of the better ones imo, still needs work tho
It's generic but it works. And they have a monetization system for furniture that actually makes sense.
So far I've reduced that (in my opinion) down to 1) a unique art style and lore/story/world building, and 2) with the least amount of focus on combat/violence as possible. But truly, I believe it's the community itself that makes this game different. Something about it attracts a lot of great folks and I've never been a part of such a community in online gaming before. But of course that is more about us, the players, and that community having come together is almost in spite of s6 and the way they've practically abandoned community features.
pls don't say that OH monetization system for furniture makes sense, bcs 50$+ for glass doesn't make any sense
Nobody is forcing anyone to buy the furniture packs to play the rest of the game. Also, players who have bought the furniture packs can and regularly do share them with other players for free or for very very cheap.
I bought furniture packs on OH because the devs on that game actually listen, and interact with their players on discord. And send us feedback surveys multiple times a season. And actually make changes to the game based off of that feedback. And put detailed patch notes on what's going to be put into the game BEFORE the update happens.
Oh yeah, did I mention that when there are bugs in the game they actually get addressed within a couple days and players get compensation in the form of ingame items? I can only recall a couple times S6 has ever done that, and one of those times we actually ended up getting seeds for a plant that wasn't even in the game yet.
what's going to be put into the game BEFORE the update happens.
unfortunately s6 has been burned by saying what's coming a few times (backpack pockets, communities, some accessibility items) so they don't do it much - well more burned by resource limitations/management decisions after teasing or telling us about something
When you feel like a company actually cares about its players and shows it, you're more likely to open your wallet
see: my mogstation receipts in FFXIV despite that I'm already paying a sub fee
It makes me wonder whether getting bought out by Daybreak games actually changed anything for the game or if Daybreak was just looking to get a slice of whatever was being bought in the premium store.
lettuce was father's day login rewards snafu rather than a "sorry" gift - i don't have notes on the sorry or make whole gifts, i just remember snowballs, duplicates of login rewards, event tickets, and maybe a couple other new items that were delayed?
I'm guessing S6 might have folded if they didn't get bought, but what actual affect the buyout's gonna have on content, I've yet to see from a lurker's perspective
I think we got a duplicate spring flutterfox or something because of some weirdness as a "sorry"
premium store revenue wasn't enough for them to maintain staffing, so I don't think there's much of a slice to get
I'm just wishing S6 would do better by the players. There are a lot of Palia refugees on Once Human and we talk about why we left a lot.
The community of Palia is second to none. But community can only do so much for a game when there are dozens if not hundreds of great games coming out all the time.
There might be another soon, I'm seriously burnt out and bummed over Palia right now and your points sounded very promising as far as games I'd like to support. Thanks for your notes! /genuine!
Once Human is a Post-Apocalyptic Open World Survival Game.
had to look it up and it seems like an entirely different vibe/genre?
i agree. a lot of it is because of the community and, in turn, the community tends to be a lot kinder because there's no combat and because all resources are shared (safe from the most recent mining bug lol). so yes, that's what palia brings to the table that other games don't.
If you're thinking about going to Once Human, I will let you know that it's definitely not perfect either. The community definitely isn't as wholesome but can be depending on where you look. Bugs are of course a regular occurence but they seem to get addressed pretty quickly and it just seems to be an industry-wide issue. Also there is bought cosmetics like furniture packs and so if you want all of them without having someone else with them share theirs with you, it comes out to around $15-20 every other week.
Honestly the best way to get me to open my wallet for a cosmetics-only store is to give me:
A) a ton of content to enjoy seeing my character run around in, and lots of things to do with a wide variety of rewards to earn and show off
B) some earnable cosmetics I would want to wear, because the best way to get me invested in a cosmetics store is to get me invested in cosmetics to begin with and you can't do that if you don't let people earn any lmao
If combat isn't your thing, Once Human might not be for you. There are PvE and PvP servers. I play exclusively PvE. If you really wanted to, you could just capture some animals and raise them and build a really cool house but you'd be missing out on 70% of the game. Also, servers wipe every 2 months but there's a place called Eternaland that acts very similarly to housing plots in Palia. They plan on making Eternaland more useful in the future as well.
Thanks! I have a few online friends who play so I was really only interested at first from their reviews and the fact that we could play together in a more structured and realistic way as far as online games go! Thanks again for the honest feedback. I've heard a lot of good about the game but am totally aware of it's struggles too since it's still developing. But the big points you made about bug fixes and communication are more-so what matter to me right now in finding new games to support
If you want to give Once Human a try, go for it. It's 100% free to play the entire game including the best armor/weapons. So if it ends up not working out you've only lost some time.
yeah there's the combat bit but also the post apocalyptic waste land bit and hyper realistic style too that feel like a totally different vibe - not that any of that is a comment on the quality/enjoyability of the game, just doesn't seem like a straight up palia equivalent like ... dreamlight valley or [insert mmos with building, softer art styles, no combat that I don't know about/can't remember rn]
I agree with you. If you're looking for a cute cartoonish or animal crossing vibe, the OH aesthetic might turn you off for sure. There are some very beautiful spots you can build in the game but for the most part the land of OH definitely has a post-apocolypse feel to it.
If I wanted to play an online game with decorating plots, I would be the strange one and go straight for phantasy star online 2: new genesis tbh
it is not considered a cozy game by any means, the "main" gameplay loop is combat, but it also gives you a place to decorate called a Creative Space very early on
and the things you can do in the creative space are like.... I've seen recreations of video game towns, I've seen spaceships, I've seen people create builds that look like giant monsters, if you thought the T-rex plot in palia was cool, it's nothing compared to what people make in pso2 lol
What keeps you investing your time into Palia? The community?
omg Tarina I forget if we discussed this yet or not but FFXIV letting you TARDIS up your house soon and change the interior size
What kind of time wizard hocus pocusery is this? lol.
I stopped playing ages ago tbh. I just have a couple friends who keep me around is all
a couple patches ago I picked up the game after like a 6 month hiatus, finished everything short of maxing all the relationships/getting gold starred everything within a week, got bored again and haven't logged in since >>
That's fair. A few people on here told me the maji market was going to be a regular thing which got me to log on for the first time in months. I did a couple maji markets including the chapaa chasing/balloon popping. Then I bought the arch and went to my plot and remembered why I got so bored with the game and logged off again.
idk but I love it since although decorating in FFXIV is awesome, getting a house is......not, and being able to have a large interior when you only were able to get a small house will help things a little
now if they'd do the same for apartments then I think most things would be solved lmao
is the FFXIV housing market like the real life housing market? š¤£
my main drive in a game is progression and palia's came to a near-screeching halt as soon as I hit level 10 in all skills
that's what made me stop playing the first time, then when I came back I rushed through all the bundles and then was like "now what"
because I dont like decorating in palia, for a bunch of reasons
but I gotta afk for a while, feel free to DM me if you want to discuss it more when I get back
Unfortunately LMAO they still insist on non-instanced housing so the demand far outweighs the supply. apartments are always available but they're so small
Enjoy! And oh boy if you want a game with progression do I have a recommendation for you Que Runescape Login screen music
That kind of reminds me how Albion Online did their market system. You had a limited number of plots in each stronghold and you could bid to buy a plot if it became inactive or went up for sale. Eventually it got to the point where the average player would never be able to afford a market plot and they all got bought-out by big guilds.
FFXIV has always had issues when it came to obtaining a house, but once you have it, it's so much fun to decorate.
You ever think that with each new MMO that comes out, they try to scratch that nostalgic itch we used to feel but we won't ever truly feel it again because most of us aren't kids anymore and are jaded/too focused on real life responsibilities to reach that level of immersion again?
You mean classic wow?
An example is a bunch of my Once Human friends have started hopping to to Throne of Liberty and asking me to join. But I just can't justify trying yet ANOTHER MMO.
You're not missing anything dont worry
I'll be honest out of all the MMO's I've ever played I've never truly given WoW or EQ/EQ2 a chance. I've always been a Runescape/OSRS person.
I've been playing Runescape for over 20 years now and somehow it's the one MMO I can point to and say "This is a great MMO!" The only other one that comes even close to that is Guild Wars 1 and FFXIV (I never tried FFXVI either)
I think for the oldheads, wow and rs were oil and water. If you played old wow, your name was probably chet and you snowboarded. If you played rs now you play league of legends
You're not wrong. I wasn't aware people even play LoL anymore. I still play OSRS.
Classic wow was only good for people who were nostalgia-locked IMO. the entertainment value vs retail was abysmally low. But im a black desert bottle sucker so my little adhd brain needs a task list that will take 13 hours every day in order to have fun.
Thank you
Oh lord I didn't realize BDO was that grindy. I thought that staying at a boss for 4 hours straight was long LOL
Once you get into softcap territory it certainly is
That's kind of how RS3 got after a while. Just an absolute crapload of dailies to do where you could spend 6 hours a day just going through your daily/weekly/monthly tasks.
I've already got a wife, I don't need THAT level of commitment š¤£
The koreans are calling, they want you to leverage your material assets for virtual outfits
I'm definitely a lot more casual of a player than I once was. I get maybe 2-3 hours to play on a good day. Maybe 4 on the weekends. I don't regret it one bit though. Being a dad is great and I love making time for things like the gym.
One of the things you didn't mention that I can see, is the fact that with the housing/building system, you can save blueprints of what you have built, or even singular rooms. And then load them up again in the future. It will build it to the best of it's capabilities, even if it has to use lower-tier materials.
I'm pretty sure if your friends give permission, you could even save builds that they did. I'm not 100% sure on this, since I never tried it myself, but... I feel somewhat confident that you can? You can build with friends though if they give you permission! (or vice versa).
They also give pre-made blueprints that they game provide, for housing, that you can continue to build off of or just use if building isn't your thing.
That alone is what has it feel unique to me and something that is really nice. And doesn't make it feel like the building I did, was wasted time or something similar.
To answer your question, yes. You can save a friends' building as blueprints if you have building permissions. You can even build furniture you have the formulas unlocked for in a friend's territory with their permission. The only thing you CAN'T do is save a building blueprint in Eternaland and use it in the main game for limitation reasons.
Correct! I just wanted to bring this up since I didn't see you mention it earlier. And I felt like it was imprtant to bring up, because i feel like that's what actually makes the building in OH feel unique to me.
I'm so glad to see youre still super in the game when we talked about it and I recommended it loosely in the past :3
You can also build over foundations, walls and other buildings parts that were made with weaker materials with ones using stronger materials so you don't have to tear it all down and rebuild it again.
Yeah I'm still loving it. Kinda slow right now since we're in between seasons and I'm waiting for the new scenario to come out. But it's a great game!

It def just made me wish I could save blueprints on Palia for building/decorating. esp room by room, etc. It'd be really nice tbh
At least the nice thing is that your buildings are permanent on your plot :p I'm still getting used to all your materials and some of your progress being wiped each season in OH. I've honestly been eyeing Runescape again recently too.
My one major gripe with Once Human is the fact that aside from breeding livestock, Eternaland is just a big useless island that provides no benefit.
What are you playing nowadays anyways? Still on Palia or did you try something else and how are you liking it?
I honestly don't play Palia that much now, unfortunately. I was going to when Maji Market came back, but it's sensory overload for me, so I can't really participate in that atm. I mainly pop on it to double check things, check the patch, go on to try to help someone with settings or the like, etc. I kinda just like helping people when I can at this point.
I've just been jumping game to game, tbh lol. My audhd has me bouncin' between games. But been working on world-building and homebrewing D&D related things
oh good for you! I hope you have a good group you can play with for D&D. I live out in the boonies so that'll never happen LOL
Oh, it'll be strictly online only š
My game time seems to have been less and less lately so I have to usually make the most out of a couple hours a day. I've been going back to the gym to try and keep up with my daughter once she starts walking š
But for now, I'm just doing world building related stuff.
I like creating characters and the like. I still have a character idea i wanted to do for Palia-- like an alt, with a story and play a certain way but...
I kinda lost interest, sadly.
Part of that is because I wished there was free cosmetics i could earn, cuz it would of made it feel more organic (to me anyways) for that purpose.
I get you! Sometimes it's so easy to have the day just slip away.
the free cosmetics on the Once Human battlepass have been pretty š„ . I still like to pop on discords and check on various gaming communities I've been a part of.
I still find it funny we were asking for livestock on Palia since beta and we don't even know if it will be an update anymore then it was suggested on OH for 2 months and we got it at the end of Season 1. You'd think the least S6 could do is throw in a single free cosmetic from time to time that isn't a fishing bobber.
Even a jack-o-lantern hat during Halloween or a totally-not-Santa-hat during Winterfest would be neat, you know?
Technically, if you have to pay for the OH battlepass then the cosmetics are not free.
i don't play OH specifically but play other games with similar mechanics to the one Herp is describing, and i believe in this case you have a selection of cosmetic items that come for actual free, but if you purchase the BP you will get more items, aside & different from the free ones
pokemon unite has a similar thing, you can do certain tasks in the game (winning matches, using a type of pokemon, etc.) and earn free coins or items, but if you paid for the battle pass, you'd get the free items along with getting the cosmetics that the theme is around for both trainer and pokemon of the pass
The free part of the OH battlepass still has great cosmetics. Half of it is accessible to F2P players and it's only the other half that is paid.
I'm stuck on Zeki's silly face (my game hella lagged, and now my screen is "frozen" on Zeki's grin)
would restarting my game be a good idea? because he's just grinning at me, no dialogue, nothing
Stuff like this happens to me too! Starting the game back up usually fixes it for me :)
Zeki, love you man, but I really need my screen back
Did it work btw?
it did, yeah
Hello! Im unsure as to where post this question (?) Since its not about gameplay, but, does someone knows if the Wild Howl costume effect in which your outfit glows when you kill an enemy still works even if you are not using the whole outfit? I kinda want to buy it, but i dont wanna use the hat 𤣠and i feel like it would be a waste to buy it if the effect doesnt longer activates without the hat
Oh, its not, its def not a one-piece, and in the little snip-video they give in the promotional video and the patch notes it says, and i quote: "The Wild Howl is a look for the whole pack. With special effects while Hunting on every piece, youāll go feral in the glow of the hunt while you bask in your moonās cosmic shine! "
Which gives me the idea that each piece glows individually and independent from each other, but im not really that confident XD
Hey, does anyone know the most efficient way to repair tools? Like, crafting kits from a specific metal, or using gold in kilima?
I find that gold doesnt actually cost that much, so i normally go for that, but if i have like a lot of materials, i like crafting repair kits and do it myself
Here's your answer
#šāoutfits-cosmetics message
i prefer the gold route, as it doesn't require storage space in both my boxes and my inventory
I think the 40 kits using iron and wood are my fav. Iāll use gold if Iām out and about but I usually have plenty of supplies for 40 kits to make them.
What fertilizer should I use? Which is the best?
While you're leveling your gardening, use the quality boost to get star quality crops. I think at level 25 or 50, you'll get star quality no matter what kind of seeds you use, so then switch to the harvest boost one that will give you more crops total.
Thank you!
Has anyone noticed more lag on their Switch since the hotfix, or is my Switch dying?
The hotfix hasn't been done yet, it starts in about an hour and 10 minutes
Thank you! I thought it was already Friday š
man i wish
Haha no problem! Happens to the best of us
the hotfix should be posted about in either #š¢āpalia-status or #š¢āpalia-news when done
Does anyone else wish their pets didn't follow you around in home base and they had something like furniture to sit on/interact with instead?
Yessss. Let me put the palcat in a doghouse or something.
Maybe this would get me to actually get a pet. I hate them following your character
I would've also loved a budgie type pet that sits on your character's shoulder
I don't like it running around behind me either. But I'd love it if it could just stay on my plot and run around.
Was there literally no way to roll out this hot fix before Majimarket started? So players didn't lose 3 (or 4ish maji markets because of how the day/night cycle falls) worth of farming?
Which before anyone jumps on be about it being morning - depending where players are located in the world, it could not be morning for them. In fact this could be prime gaming time for them.
& Casual players only get so many hours in a day to farm.
#TinyThoughts
I'm still stuck on them calling a 3hr maintenance a "hotfix"
I don't mind them following me around out in the world but it's kinda annoying when I'm trying to cook/garden š¤£š¤£
Typically for me it doesn't matter cause it's 3am here and I'm sleeping. But timezones. It's gonna be a pain for some people and for others it won't matter. I'm surprised they didn't do it before reopening the market
thats the thing about hotfixes, they usually are discoverd and need to be fixed quickly (what they are fixing might not have even been discoverd/had a fix before maji market started up again). The event will also be returning more later on so yea your losing time now but you also have all the other days to farm i doubt it will be depending on these 3 hours. Also about the prime gaming time, you will always have that, its always prime gaming time somewhere š . The hotfix time will probably be at the time that makes sense for the developers, they are going to do the hotfix while they are at work and not while they are sleeping
also something might be really broken, so they would need to make a fix, probably test it on private servers, than take the live servers down push the fix test it on the live servers (because somethings things might clash or not go over smoothly from a test to a live server), and than fix again if still broken š
... test? You think they test these things? With what QA team?
I rather lose 3 or 4 maji markets instead of 10 due to crashes honestly
don't want to imagine how bad it has to be for switch players
and if they only manage to get a fix ready/approved for during the time the market is active its better than nothing I'd say
(crashes will probably still happen after the hotfix anyways for sure, but if they manage to not have especially switch players crash during almost every market its better than keeping it the way it is now)
Wait, the "hotfix" is 3 hours of downtime??
As a switch player, I crash either randomly while running around, or loading anywhere. Majimarket was impossible for me to get into without the game hard crashing at least 5 times before I loaded in š„¹
thats just their usual timeframe for (usually) client sided work that would require an update, no clue if this one will come with 185.1 but its usually like that
- for hotfixes they finish early most of the times
they would probably plan a bigger timeframe to do their fix and be done earlier than "planned" and make people happy rather than planning the time they expect, not be done and have to disapoint people
I'm debating on seeing if my dusty old laptop can handle palia on the lowest settings cause the constant crashing on switch is off putting to me, especially with load times already being astronomically long
Does the PC version have controller support at least?
I've seen this game run on hardware that I would never imagine it would run on, so may be worth trying. And yes, you can use a controller.
do you by any chance now whats in that computer, like grapics card and processor?
I do not, I do however know its like 8-10 years old š«
That might be pushing it, but it's going to depend on the hardware. If you can boot it up, we can check the specs in #š»ātech-help
Its bootin up currently
i took a quick look at the steampage and it really doesnt need a lot, it might be worth a try even though your specs might not meet the minimum (i've found you can get away much lower dan the minium)
your graphics will be really bad and you might experience some FPS drops but if you can live with that than why not give it a tryš¤·āāļø
sigh coming back to this since servers are down for maintenance. i think i can check "music discs" off since we got jukeboxes
Lucky
The jukeboxes were a big mistake. If it only plays one tune it's NOT a jukebox; It's just an oversized music box.
It would be really cool if we could collect music disks to load into an actual jukebox, but I guess that ship has already sailed.
I immediately mute the jukeboxes on peopleās plot on the tour board. Itās like nails on a chalkboard for me. I went into one house several weeks ago that had all the jukeboxes lined up and playing simultaneously.
You must really love those plots that have the same jukeboxe in multiple rooms so the sound will carry throughout. š¤Ŗ
I literally have the jukeboxes cuz they look cool. I mostly play with my volume off so it doesnāt really matter too much to me whether that are on or not
I'm sorry probably someone asked it already but when is palia coming up again? tomorrow at 7 am?
in an hr
at 18:00 (is 17.01)
7pm for me.
keep an eye on #š¢āpalia-news and #š¢āpalia-status. they'll let us know when it's back up
cuz there can always be delays when doing such fixes
i was watching diferent hours in several places and was confused but thank you @ivory vessel
With the absence of an actual Community Manager, they haven't done a very good job of getting it posted to Status in a timely manner.
I usually see someone shout it out in palia-general, long before it may or may not appear in palia-status.
that was always the case, even when we had a community manager tbf
doesn't mean that we don't need a CM of course, bcs it would be rly good to have one again.
I hope with this maintenance they fix the loading of things in Kilima...
I really desperately hope so. I canāt even go inside the buildings cuz the stairs or floors havenāt loaded. Itās gotten ridiculous
seems like the focus is the disconnects and freezing related to the market, but hopefully all the performance issues get better. Fun that the loading buildings & etc. issue is from changes that increased general performance though, you can almot hear the "WTF" ing from the team over the last 2 months
Hate it! Lmfao, and folks think theyāre slick hiding it behind other furniture/builders items. I WILL find it and turn it off! š¤£
I think they look cool, and I only have the one that was given to us my S6. I play with audio because I need to hear my surroundings.
I don't think I've seen a jukebox yet. I got the uh... record playing thingy.
I also now have like a ton of quests in my quest log since I haven't touched palia in probably about a year xD so I'm avoiding those like hot cakes.
do you think we will get an extra day for Maji Market? probably not i assume as it has only been down 4 or 5 hours
Probably not, with us getting it every month now I don't see why they would
I vaguely remember them extending Luna Market, but there wasn't a hard date on when any market would return so I think it was to help with player's FOMO, added with the fact that some of the items they listed as exclusive we could still get after the market
thanks! ā¤ļø that would make sense
one was a log in bonus and the rest are in the house tours store bought with those tickets, so you'd only see them there or on people's plots
Does anyone know if they plan on giving us more colour options for the modification bench? All the current ones are lame
I know! What about black and white, proper cardinal colours etc. Orange!
I would love to see a full colour palette/wheel where we can select 1-2 colours of our own. Imagine the stuff Palians would create
would work better like FF14. Make paints from flowers then "paint" furniture in situ
I would definitely appreciate more color options. The ones that are there currently are just not my cup of tea.
Also, I won't have PC to play Palia anymore, I am considering buying a switch just to be able to play Palia still but I hear sooo much negative feedback about playing on switch idk if I want to drop that money on it
Would love to hear switch players opinions on how gameplay is and if they think its worth it
Honestly the gameplay was a lot more stable back in April ish. Now itās just laggy whenever Iām in kilima, cant even enter the building without dropping into the floor. Hopefully they fixed it in this hot fix.
i tried playing on switch for all of ten minutes before giving up in frustration
is it up yet for anyone?
I was hoping for good news for switch players
i dunno what was goin on but i couldnt switch tools or use them (and i was 100% positive i was using the correct controls, i quadruple checked)
Okay ty for your input! I think I will hold off and save for another PC
It's only gonna get worse for us as they add more stuff to the game
its unfortunate but i really think they shouldve held off releasing the game on switch until pc version was at least out of beta :(
esp with the team downsizing
I can only hope they release the game on consoles before I manage to save for PC
I agree with this. As much as I love the game on switch, they just arenāt ready to keep up with it
I'm so used to Switch getting 1.0 that when I came in here I was floored to see this game was still in BETA
I'm just sitting here like a kid waiting to open presents on christmas
There has been quite a bit of behind the scenes upheaval within S6. Hopefully, things have settled down enough, or settle down soon, where they can get a rhythm going that is reasonably paced, when it comes to fine tuning this game (ie optimization because it ain't optimized), bug fixes, etc.
im still a relatively new player, but even i can see that there was just too much ambition and not enough decisions rooted in 'reality' so to speak
omg, perfect comparison
its a really fun game and ive been having fun playing! but ive noticed a very large gap in the communication between studio and players, which can be disheartening and frustrating. the bugs are one thing, but i feel the game kinda tosses you in the deep end and doesnt explain enough for new players (have 80 hours and only just learned about the bahari bay entrance on my plot). it relies too heavily on other players explaining mechanics and 'etiquette' for a casual player base. my opinion of course, but still
perhaps its from lack of time spent with the game, but im hopeful things will turn around eventually :)
It was so stable in April but now? I'll get like 10-20mins before I give up
Wait til you finish the night sky temple and there's nothing to do except push furniture around on your plot(s).
I see what you mean. It can be very overwhelming playing this game but Iām pretty sure they have an official guide to the game so they arenāt just throwing you into the game entirely. But the tips and tricks they donāt show in there are all learned from other players
I definitely agree. Also any suggestions/feedback etc players get directed to submit feedback forms and it feels like a copout. They don't actually implement ANYTHING the community asks for, even when it's for accessibility purposes. It's all just wasted time & opinions going into a void
Looks like you enjoy story-based games more, and that's alright.
Palia is more about player freedom than the story imo
I could really not care less about dang potato pods, put that time and effort of creating and implementing more plushies into something actually useful for players experience
I still find stuff to do. Collect all the bug and fish, plushie hunting, cook all the food, character relationships, etc
ive not heard of a guide- if you have a link id appreciate! still though.. i feel like how-to's and mechanics should be shown in game and not out of
I feel like they are trying so hard to keep the game stable that they canāt implement the good ideas without breaking the game further
There is a Palia wiki. Official Palia Wiki. I left out a word!
thats a shame.. and unfortunately a common sentiment ive seen. ive sent in a feedback report myself i believe my first week here
The Palia wiki is also severely lacking in several areas
ive been on the wiki! while helpful, it is missing a lot of info
ive been relying on youtube tutorials and players in game for help :) which, thankfully, everyone has been incredibly kind so far
There is this one. Itās a bit outdated but it does have info on it. https://files.palia.com/press-kit/Almanac of Palia.pdf
I have to say, I have noticed that. I just throw in the information I am seeking in the good ole google search - something always comes up.
Iirc, a lot of the people who were working on the wiki gave up(?) I could be misremembering though
appreciated :)
I agree, it's a shame really. There's so much potential, I am still hopeful and looking forward to seeing where they take it
And wasnāt there a community magazine or something?
I relate to S6 devs so much š My code is also like a house of cards
It was just for funsies but it also has some good stuff in there
Idk anything about S6, or behind the scenes stuff but I hope they can get their sh sorted out and prioritize properly for maintenance and updates
what im trying to get at- is that while having youtube, tutorials, and other players is a big help! baseline game information should be shown in game, rather than relying on outside sources to relay it. it can easily turn off new players who find it frustrating to not understand
Wait what happened
palia is lucky to have such a warm and helpful community
And to be fair, they arenāt that detailed explanations
They really should improve on that
nothing really! just discussing game frustrations in general :
Ooh I see! I thought something happened with S6 D:
not that im aware of! sorry for the scare ^^'
On no, that's fine!
I'm very excited to see how they handle implementing the trading system
Is it still down????
Yes
nah bross can't get back in today!
I'd like to see some more dialogues for NPCs! Even if it's the "chatting" ones, just a couple more lines for each one of them would be awesome
Not even talking about story, just dialogue haha
I skip through any and all dialogue so idek any of the lore
how does one acquire petit fives?
You make them at prep station
Writing dialogue for this game must be a PITA with all the different personalities.
I feel like I'm stuck in time when I talk to reth and he keeps saying the same stuff over and over
wait how do i get the recipe then ?!
I think you should have it already if you are at the point in the quest where it says to make them? I'm not sure
Hmmm I'd love to write some dialogues based on the personalities tbh!
oh okay i havent yet tried that but i will once the servers are back up tysm
It's a quest that eshe gives you before meeting subira
My fanfic days are joever
Good luck! I had to help my mum make them yesterday š
Maybe you have to get to a certain point in the story
When is the servers up again ? xD
I'm not sure cause when subira was released I already had all the story completed (that was available at the time, ofc)
Supposed to be up 46 mins ago
What if.. they only fix one thing if it's take 5+ hours?
Yeah i know thats wierd š®
Awful a long time for a hot fix ngl
i have over 900 hrs and still dont have the fish stew recipe. i have every fish starred but no stew
chances are they fixed 1 issue only to spawn 9 more issues ( i love bugfixing )
I'm pretty sure this is something similar to a patch, I don't know why they called it a "small hotfix"
Yeah they need to stop saying that lmao š
Big hot fix xD
I have no idea what the patch/hotfix is I just pray it ACTUALLY makes a difference in game play especially for switch players who are holding out for a crumb of good news
will we get free goodies?
I saw a friend playing on switch, and it loaded like sh*, I'm really sorry for people that have to deal with that ;-; I imagined it was bad on switch but not THAT bad...
reth will give you the recipe when he wants you to make it during the quest ^^
hey y 'all this channel is not meant to bypass #š¬āpalia-general as a heads up. this channel is still for longer conversations and more in depth discussions. thank you!
Yeah after this discussion I have decided to not drop hundred of $$ on a switch just for Palia lol
Yes there have been a lot of bugs and patches the latest
Honestly I just gave up on having a good time on switch gameplay wise. Cuz these hotfixes work only until the next update
I could fly the sky today by the ground
I donāt have the magical reaction anymore why?
wait what. im maxed with him friend and relationship he gave me nothing
didn't saw any bugs
he doesnt love you like he loves me
BTWWWWWW this is unrelated but DON'T YOU THINK it's time to them to finally let us use our lettuces and lettuce seeds? They put them in the game by mistake SO MANY MONTHS AGO and they haven't even made tem a thing yet... It's been like, what, 3-4 patches?????
Super disappointing to hear
I really hope this big hot fix is really worth it if it's take that long ngl
Factssssss lol
the recipe is given to you during the Subira questline!
PALIA COME BACK
It is but this game is good so I ignore the bugs as much as I can until I canāt
Not to mention when r we gnna be able to complete the quest we have had for months lol
spoilers for the subira quest ||eshe asks him to make the desert and he in turn asks you to make them as hes busy, and he gives you the recipe. its the second part of said quest line||
thats okay i just wanted him for his picture. im on to hoedaddy lol
Probably in the elderwoods
General has a 5 min timer lmao
He still doesnt aknowledge i existe, but soon he will realise how much he cares for me ( YOU vibe)
The quest is called "Your order is served". You do a furniture making quest for Tish as well.
9 mins?
Pretty sure i did that quest... id go look if s6 would hurry up
347k+ people here a nd very active, very common! usually it's only at 15 seconds. it'll go back down once the game is up.
@sonic wraith
I swear I thought they were gonna make them a thing soonish when we got them but what the hell is thisss šš I get that it'd change all the farming but they ALREADY removed fertilizers and stuff, why not take the opportunity to fix that too, instead of just ignoring it š
then you should have the recipe! just check your mixing station to start it ^^ when it comes back ofc
miss my palia house
I know, everyone is antsy rn lol we have been having longer discussions, just pointing out that's prob why others have joined for more general discussion in here. Thanks for the heads up though
š„±
I think the only thing would be that it's and ingredient for cooking recipes that use crops or other stuff that is not in the game yet... But come on let us at least make more seeds!! šš
for sure! mostly just throwing that out there so that while you're having your discussions you aren't interrupted by people using this as gen chat
Idk about lettuce anything but I would love to see some more fruit trees, also do we know if they ever plan on giving us more garden plots?
That's main story so I guess that make a bit more sense but damn, one or two new quests to introduce the new stuff would be great
I completely forgot about the lettuce š
Mine is sitting in storage just waiting
Idk about the plots but there are gonna be new crops for sure, although I don't think they'll release them until we get next map area
Yep. Also LET US PLACE STARRED JAM AS DECORATION
who is looking at their other games like.... NOPE
i really do love that making recipes is like a little mini game in and of itself! just wish theyd say hey! this recipe needs to be made at this station first! cause it took me ages to realize not every one starts at the stove lol
I WANNA PLAY NOW....
i tried to play minecraft but i could only think of wanting to get flow wood ;a;
groves....
Gonna play Stardew valley for now, tbh I just login every hour for the Maji... The rest of the stuff is kinda boring now that I did everything š„²
I can just imagine how big my stockpile would get. I wouldn't have to spend money on Zeki coins because I'd just leave the jam on a plot instead of selling it every day and having too much money.
I enjoy it too, but it is overwhelming making the harder things for the first time around. It does indicate what stations will be needed but it still feels like I'm lost the entire time running around like a headless chicken š
i dread the day i get to that point
Hahahaga
I got to that point months ago and I've lost all the motivation, patch days are just a disappointment seeing that we're getting no content at all haha
yeah i play apex and just fck wrong buttons...
But I don't wanna get too much into that cause I don't wanna sound like I'm just complaining :')))
I just keep finding new things to do. My current goal is an overall level of 1000 and getting everything to 100+
ive only been playing for about two weeks and im trying to take my time so ive got things to do until elderwoods ^^'' im slowly getting there tho
I only started playing in late August, a week before patch and I got through the whole main story and 95% of quests already
I still find plenty to do pottering around, but now I mostly help my mum play
Ohhh you've got a long way!!! Enjoy it š
ty! just got my first couple of skills to level ten!
Iāve been playing since December and Iām just trying to get all my skills to lvl 50 rn for the gold trophies.
Palia is a great game, but since the layoffs it's been going downhill... They used to listen to the players so much before cause they had people dedicated to that
tbf.. the game doesnt lend to much outside of questlines and decorating
Thats a longgg grind, I would love to see something more than a trophy for such achievements, maybe a cute cosmetic or something to show off the hard work
yup yup, its a sentiment ive seen time and time again
which is why ive been trying to take it slow xD
Yep and I only have 3/8 skills above lvl 50
Yeah.... I wish they gave cosmetics for free like they did with the switch release.... I don't know if we'll ever see that happening again
I love Palia but i don't know what i should do in the Game..
i really think they should sell outfit pieces rather than full sets.. theyd absolutely sell more that way
Dang, nice! I think my highest skill is 23 maybe
Sometimes taking a break when things get slow is good. It refreshes the mind
Yes :S also toggle bags and backpacks
seconded :) when i find myself getting bored with a game i find a new one to play for a bit, or focus on a different hobby so i can come back to it with fresh eyes and excitement again!
oohhh yes!!
Yeah, I get that purchasing is the only way to financially support the game but it's not a viable option for everyone, and I don't think putting in a free cosmetic here and there for really hard/grindy achievements would take away from that. It would be something for everyone
Ofc, that's a great idea
yeah, the break i have it now. :)
Unrelated but I love the cows in your pic, so cute haha
a small cosmetic for getting to level ten on a skill first time would be awesome! or for finishing a main questline
I feel like level 10 is too early and too easy but maybe 25-50
fair! maybe level 50 then
Orrrr a whole outfit and you get one piece every x amount of leveks
Yes! Bc after 10, all the tool upgrades are done and stuff, like gimme a little more incentive to grind than a trophy no one including me will seeeee, just like a PIECE of an outfit or something
I agree! Would be very cool for us to be able to unlock the NPC outfits and hairstyles too :D
You should get a tool skin at least for the tool related skills.
Also, how about outfits that you can buy with guild coins that relate to the skill, like a chef outfit, a bug catcher one... Even tho we have some paid ones, or MAYBE the outfit from the NPC but with color swatches!!!
Or inspired in the NPC
not likely, but i hope we might be able to get some market tickets for having to wait
I would love a proper gem display case once we get all the gems in the game
a thousand times YESS
i could have been grinding
I would love that, they definitely have a lot of potential for expanding purchase power with guild coins, for most skills I don't care for the 2-3 expensive options they offer currently
Similar to the game Fae Farm where you can unlock the NPC outfits, and seasonal outfits too
thank you!!! :D In Germany we have still nice places :D
Only thing is like the game is free when most are costly to get so canāt complain about cash exclusive items it supports the creation of the game itself
speaking of seasonal, i would love to see some seasonal outfits for npcs!
I always get a lil sad when I see the same things suggested here for like, a year, and they've been sent into feedback just as long, but S6 just doesn't want to do them, like separate outfit piece purchases or lil cosmetics to get via guild coins or whatever
Ooh never thought about that :o
and seasonal changes to our plots as well!
Ofc, but they can also give people options. Maybe not as detailed or big as the paid ones, but SOMETHING
It just ain't happening, I think, and I don't mean that pessimistically, I mean that realistically after all this time
Even HAIRSTYLES, purchase able hairstyles, the NPC hairstyle or something idk
Purchaseable with coins ofc
Do you guys think we'll have a hair stylist Npc at some point? Haha
mm, i disagree to an extent. absolutely supporting the devs by purchasing outfits i get! but i believe there are much better ways to implement it, and also not hard lock all new outfits/cosmetics behind a paywall. and for a lot of money too
Totally agree with you I felt the same at a point in playing but then kinda thought like Disney or them games r like 60$ to even play so I just gave in and paid for nicer things cuz the response would be of course the game itself is free we give clothing for free just the exclusive stuff costs real cash unfortunately
Maybe, but it'll direct you to the cash shop
like poor Jel
in the end it really only further alienates certain players from buying which.. defeats the purpose of helping support the company
Oh no I totally agree! At this point us players are creating a totally better different game in our heads
was about to say, Poor Jel. Being the mascot for the cash-shop lol
I love when other people say things I also have said before like yes thank you for getting it /pos
honestly tho lmfkjashd I still hope a game I hoped this would be comes out one day
This is such a mood š
I remember saying it a long time ago and someone said that would be awful because they wouldn't be able to difference the NPCs from the players bc of the outfit lolššš
Hey Roan ā¤ļø
Yeah I gave up on sending feedback, seems there is no interest at all in taking any suggestions on board
that just sounds like a skill issue to me idk
Heyo! Heard the maintenance was taking longer than anticipated so just wanted to pop in and see what was going on!
Like hello they have pink skin
it seems like the same sentiments have been shared over and over by multiple players and sent to feedback with nothing from the studio in response.. which circles straight back to the communication issue i brought up earlier
Roan! š Lovely seeing you as always hahaha
Yeah we are all like āI hope I can enjoy Palia one day once this happensā
You as well!
Yeah, poked my head in for the same
Dev team has like 30 people and half of them work on cosmetics
I imagine someone looking at my character next to Ashura with the same outfit like "hmmm I can't tell which one is the player...."
I honestly woke up from a nap about... an hour ago? And saw this and was like "oh, I guess this is what imma be reading while I try to wake up."
I just hope the fixes that this was for gets improved tbh
It just isn't the same as when we were in the early phases of testing unfortunately. š¦
Somewhere along the line it really does seem like the vision changed or got lost along the way.
If I said what I wanted to say about some people's intelligence levels I'd probably get bonked
thats unfortunate
They need to fix that ratio then, HALF the team on cosmetics makes no sense when the game is not even close to optimized currently
a shame
Is anyone else having trouble logging in? I thought maintenance was supposed to be done hours ago
I don't wanna get another ban warning let's just keep it for ourselves LOL
My comment was hyperbole and not credible information please do not take it seriously
And then instead of the helpful feedback, S6 is like āhere is a new outfit to buy and new plushie to hunt for!ā
It's still not done from my understanding. Can check #š¢āpalia-status for when they update on that.
i saw a comment the other day that palia has just become a plushie collecting game xD
Thank you!
That's fair, but it does seem likely. In any case however they have things now is not great, stop givin me damn plushies and premium outfits and fix the game and THEN I may consider spending real money
how long now?
I hate this
They're likely working on the large story update scheduled for early next year which is why things are slowing down for right now.
It really is a game for people that don't really play games.
I wanted something to play for quite some time but I honestly just did everything I cared about in a couple dozen hours and it just wasn't fun anymore...
I thought the message in #š¢āpalia-status said "you probably haven't noticed that the game is still down" and I was about to scream LMAO
Literally I play palia when I don't want to play games
Yeah :(
Basically a dress up game with plushies. I just want to grow my veggies and take care of animals like other farming games š„²
Animal Husbandry with Naio as the guild vendor when
it seems like they lost the farming game plot...
Stardew is my comfort game just bc of that. Palia was at some point too, I love the chill vibes
I'm still waiting to be disappointed by the trading they've promised.
"Here, you can trade with other players! But only the Potato Pods."
I would LOVE to see that
I am so close to downloading it..
minecraft is mine ^^ also a massive hyperfix lol
do it its SUCH a good game
I haven't played stardew for years, idk if I could go back after falling in love w Palia, and minecraft I played for like 12 years straight and I just can't anymore
At this point Iāll be surprised if we get even ONE more soil slot
also HIGHLY recommend Fields of Mistria, if youre into farming sims :)
SAME
so so fair
I asked about this earlier! I would love a plot expansion, I was shocked at the limit of 9 when I hit it

Yeah, I'm trying not to be really hopeful about the trading for this reason. We've already talked with eachother on what we hope for, and I dont' want to raise it too high and have it shattered š
hell yea!!! my icon is of my mcsona/skin ^^
thats such a sad sentiment to have but completely understandable.. which makes it all the more sad š
Minecraft was my ENTIRE childhood, it's crazy now to see my nephew playing all the games I used to love, he also loves Palia & I gave him my second house plot, and ALL my plushies š he asked to have my garden too, HARD no lmao
Yeeeeah that seems to be a Palia specialty: shattering expectations. Just, not in the way we want lol
I will be sooo mad if it's JUST for potato pods
I want palia to be the kind of game that I can always come back to, no matter how much time passes and it still feel the same way about it, feeling like the NPCs are my friends and be happy to talk to them after some time, pick some flowers and a seat in front of the fire at my cozy house. Have some animals (hopefully soon) to pet and take care of and grow my crops to make nice meals. I love games that make you feel out of reality for a bit, they really make me feel unlucky for not being a pixel living the farm life lolll
awww <333 that is awesome! minecraft was my childhood too ^^ my siblings and i played together on our old xbox360 for hours after school xD
thiiiis! in the same vein as minecraft or stardew
Minecraft wasnāt my childhood because Iām old
but it is currently my daughterās! We play together :D
I take breaks from palia on and off but I've been getting into decorating as of late and hunting. It's been nice to chill with
Talking to Sebastian or hugging Sam, visiting Marnie and going to events with the whole town always makes me feel at home NGL haha...
i love seeing parents who play with their kiddos š„¹ it makes me misty eyed
I've just kinda learned to not have hopes too high with Palia, haha. I'm not even trying to say that to be negative, either. It's just kinda what happens to some extent. Sometimes might even just be me misreading/misunderstanding something though, too, admittedly lol
I'm still waiting/hoping for more accessibility options and features. Like ... please, I really want to hide visual effects from other peoples outfits/cosmetics, and some other stuff at this point. (Like, I can't handle all the sensory via Maji Market. The balloon popping is too much unfortunately.) š
I'm new & i have a question for you: What other game do you play?
I even got my mum into Palia, she's hilarious. In chat I told her to ask if anyone could fill her request & she's so proper. "Good morning, is anyone able to fullfill my request? Many thanks" I just about died at the many thanks part š
i will say that palia has a really great set of furniture and decoration options
Not a lot of color options tho
a very fair and grounded way of thinking about it
yeah :(
Also I would like to have some special quests with cutscenes, even short ones... Kind of like stardew valley heart events
Sorry for the delay, was afk but based on all the new posts I see that really feels so. Plushies and now funko pops. Feels more like a collectathon than anything
And the modification table is laggy af
AWWW i love that so much- what a polite mama way to go about it š„¹
all good! and yeah, i can totally see that
So cute
So cute, but now I fight for a turn on my own PC
She had asked me to move it out of my room so she can play while I'm asleep LOL
Honestly, as free to play games go, I think it's pretty good. I also play Once Human and you have to pay for almost everything cool on there. Like even with houses and theme packs. Though I wish the custom clothes were a bit cheaper, I feel like it's not so bad in general. It seem like a really nice community, which is rare
palia has an incredibly friendly community which is so rare and needed in the gaming scene
even on reddit folks are nice xD
I know! I rarely see anyone being a jerk in this game and itās so refreshing
Absolutely, the best part is it's the ONLY game I feel comfortable letting kids have a go at, zero weird vibes or servers to avoid etc
Like JUST imagine being able to go on a date with your favorite NPC (or all of them) and after seeing a cute short cutscene you unlock a shot, like a picture that gets saved in a separate album, they could be called "memories" and you unlock them with friendship levels and as quest rewards, for both friendship and romance levels
Maybe I should move to Reddit and not on discord š
yes! š little to no creeps or aholes
You would be surprised with the kind of people I found in this game
i share a very similar sentiment with palia as i have for minecraft.
*woops sent before ready
this would be awesome!
anyway, you can acknowledge that games these days are very expensive, and having a free to play, or free updates is both refreshing and something to not take for granted, but you can also be critical and express the direct desires of the community without the need to feel guilty over it. 'take what you get and just be happy its free' is the wrong way to go about it.
Reminds me of this game called "My candy love" that I used to play as a kid and you'd get a pic after every date with the guys (it was a dating sim haha) šš
I agree, chat is usually friendly
I do wish they had parental controls as well
Thatās so sweet. She probably will have lots of in game friends just for that.
mostly it boils down to: "two things can be true at the same time"
Theres a mobile game called Dream Girlfriend that does something similar and that album is the reason why I try to make sure to hit every event up ahaha
agree
so true bestie
OMG when the bella is loca
I swearrr still makes me feel a bit sad to think about it cause I'm only dating Reth -and I wanna keep it that way- but I'd want to collect all the pics agdvvsvs
how are u ace it's been like 84 years
Welp, lucky he's still learning to read at this point and chat isn't used often
Pretty sure i told you this like ... a long time ago/earlier this year, but just like back then, i still very much, love your name
thank youuuu ā¤ļø its the best username i've ever had
It has been! I am aging by the second
doing okay! How are you? :o
I havent chosen my beloved yet but I am very much built similarly - it would be hard for me to commit because I would want to collect all the memories hahahahaha
As long as you keep an eye on him it'll be fine!
im good! i got my first dog ever and ive been going back to school. not as much time for tomfoolery, but im having a blast
I havenāt been active on here like I was a few months ago because I made a small server of Palia friends, and then we all quit Palia
but still hang out
Always, from my experience unsupervised online growing up - ALWAYS
š
Tomfoolery and shenanigans
also WHAT KINDA DOG
OMGGGGGG that's exactly what happened to my community, only like 4 of us still talk and the rest of the group ghosted š also a rottweiler !! she LOVES to cuddle and nap which has been magical.
;^; puppy
I wonder how many people branched off
But also yes PUPPY
She is OUR dog now
icb there's not pet pics sharing sections on here, That's fundimental for every discord
i can't believe my dog is collecting 80k+ new parents
should come automatically implemented in every new server xD
i'll post a pic of her on off topic because she's SO cute
I'll be their uncle. I don't think my kid would allow me to parent anyone else lmao
THIS. Exactly
People post them in #š¬āoff-topic-chat !
Frog gif. Love
Anner
It feels eerily quiet over here. How goes it, you two? ā¤ļø
It goes! Just been poking my head in again after the server pings to see how things are going
I'm okay! Still groggy from my sleep earlier, admittedly, haha! Even though i've been up now for 2 hours
Excited to start playin' some games or work on my D&D homebrew stuff later
How've you been, Anner? Hanging in there from the server being on fire?
I was hopin to get some Palia time in before my mum wakes up and demands her turn but I don't think that's gonna happen
It's always a little nutty on days like today, but it'll be over soon enough! I'm hanging in there just fine.
D&D homebrew sounds funnnn! I just ordered the new handbook with an alternative cover... is very pretty, am excited to get it.
Yeaaaah, I wish we had more of an estimate! But we're at the mercy of the devs and what they're able to accomplish. I hope you get at least a little time, too!
Hopefully whatever they're doing is worth the wait, I see general chat
Good, I'm glad you're hangin in' there!
And heck yeah! I got to play D&D again recently and am still very happy about it. It was a bit rocky in a sense-- not that the session was bad, but moreso due to how my focus was bc you know, neurospicy brain goes brr-- but it was fun! It definitely fueled my passion for it again, and now I'm back to wanting to do world building and things similar.
And once you get that handbook ... š Feel free to post a picture and tag me.
I have never played D&D, I have zero understanding of gameplay - are there cards?
TRUEEE, lol.
There can be... but most people don't play with cards. I could see them being a useful tool, but I referenced the book a lot. Honestly, BG3 really helped me learn, and watching critical role. ā¤ļø
I shall, I shall. I think it's supposed to get here Saturday. And I feel you on the focus... especially if the group is more than like 3-4 people, it can feel like a lot to keep listening and stay engaged. So many moving bits.
Interesting, so it's mostly imaginative role play sort of stuff? I'm not sure I would really grasp it & be able to fully appreciate the experience bc I'm not one blessed with the ability to imagine/picture things in my mind if that makes sense
fun fact after 4 years of waiting my partner got a giant tarrasque miniature that's the size of a small cat and i wish he would look at me the way he looks at this massive monster mini
Omg what's the hell almost 3 hours later than they said and still down. Really hope this isn't just a hotfix and we got surprise even a full blown update hasn't taken this long. Iv even had a nap š¤£
If you mean cards as in like... a TCG game similar to Magic the Gathering, not really, no!
However, some people may use index cards or similar, as quick references for specific things. Some people at the table (if it's an IRL session), may have "spell cards" to use, and showcase, to show them using specific spells, abilities, etc. Or even to showcase items. But this isnt often!
Me and my brother want to use them for those reasons, specifically because it'd be good for quick reference for us both. And for more of the sensory vibes since it's holding onto something physical š
I felt that way, too... but I think it comes down to play style. There are groups that play online and use visual maps that show what the characters/NPCs look like, where you can move, etc... and even in person groups play with miniatures and stuff. I know people that also just use their imagination!
That's super exciting!! I really gotta properly get books and physical copies of those, again. I have mine all online, and i"d love to have the physical copies. They just get so pricey so easily! :(
And yes! I am very thankful though for virtual tabletop things, though. It helps me follow along even when I get distracted or zoned out. Since all the rolls are there in the chat and things. š
Oh okay ty for the explanations! I used to play MTG, specifically commander and I loooved it but that's no longer an option for me š« Seems like a fun time, do games last a good while? or is that very dependant on the group size?
Will the server be open yet?
No one knows how much longer, but we will receive an update in #š¢āpalia-status once there is news
As Anner mentioned-- it comes to play style! When I'm a player, I don't have much of the roleplay part. This is mainly due to me being dissociated a lot, and just overall being neurospicy heheh. Some DMs are also more flexible, and things similar. Just all depends on the group!
Sessions can take a while, depends on the group. Some one-shots that people do, can last 3-4 hours. Where some may last up to 8 hours. It all depends. And when people do campaigns, this can go for months ... and again, just depends on the group!
Some may spend a few hours a week playing, where some may have longer sessions, etc. I know some groups only meet up/play once a month. It varies!
The "one shot" that my friends had the other day... we expected 4 hours fore xample, maybe 5 ... went for 8 hours š but a lot of that was because we were re-learning the game, the DM never dm'd before, so we had to reference stuff a lot, etc. š
3 h late tho.. xD
That's cool, super interesting that there are campaigns that span over months. I appreciate immersive games, in depth stuff and all the 'nerdy' things. My boyfriend roasts me for being a nerd JUST for playing Palia tho š Little does he know I used to go to a game store w friends regularly and play competitive MTG
Yeah
I'm slowly getting conditioned to not trust their estimates and to be slightly underwhelmed with updates/patches but it doesn't take away from my love of the game so meh, it's a good chance to spend time in the discord and actually connect w Palians, when I really don't any other time
Thats true tho >(
:)*
Hahaha, yeah D&D can def be in-depth and immersive! My friends and I, even though we were playing online only, they all were on video call too, and in small simple cosplays. (like, someone plays as a dragonborne, so they had a dragon onesie on, for example)
Me and my brother are going to be trying to do some crafts eventually, to even have more of that 'immersive' feeling, even if it's just simple index cards that are laminated, or a dice box, etc. We're wanting to make our own little simple tokens, too.
I also just love doing world-building and using D&D as loose rules/inspiration for getting started. I love making characters and the like a bunch
I still wanted to make a specific kind of character on Palia, even. But my concept I can't really do (imo), since of the lack of free (earnable) cosmetics. I wanted them to slowly start earning things and feel more ... immersed? i guess? into the world, but with how things are now ... I feel like I can't achieve that sadly
That sounds fun! I love that you and your brother share an interest like that, very wholesome
My brothers are all gamers and even if we shared love for a game I was always left to my own devices as the annoying little sister š
He actually has never played it! But he gets super excited when he sees stuff about it, or when I have talked to him about it. So I would love to get him into it, and introduce him with it. I want to make my own kind of campaign and im just like ... once it's ready you can be my guinea pig š
Oh cool! That's fun for you then
Silly questionā¦can you only get a pet in palia using real money? And do we get to own farm animals at some point? I am still learning!
Yeah, you only get pets when you spend real money.
Yeah pets are only obtained by spending real money in the premium store, and no farm animals for us as far as I know but I am hopeful for this in future
any idea when the game will be back up? i've been away for a couple of days and I miss it!!
Oh ok! Thank you āŗļø I hope for the farm animals one day too.
dnd is great. i am boo-boo at any spell casting classes though. i was just mentioning to the mods that i wanted to write a palia themed one shot.
Hmmm. Well I guess Iām playing Destiny 2 instead today lol
The chapaa's are so cute, I can't imagine what S6's chickens and pig equivalents would look like. XD
Yesss gimme chickens for eggs and ormuu for milk/butter and a BARN
I hope one day we can have voice chat. Itās hard to type things out when playing on a steam deck.
SO much potential
HUH I never considered steam deck instead of switch, is gameplay on steamdeck smooth?
I'm working on making my own kind of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon one.
which is so much to homebrew and plan, and is def going to drift away from the usual D&D formula but ... it's fun.
nice. i just stared getting into being a dm! i enjoy it. sitting here reading the new player's handbook actually while the server is down
I've never dm'd before myself but im excited to learn
Also steam decks are not available in my country apparently, how is price range?
The game play is okay on the steam deck. The issues Iāve had are when trying to use a ps5 controller with it.
oo it's interesting and fun.
i like the world building though i do get caught o ff guard randomly when players like
decide all of a sudden they want to start a brawl with a random npc
They start around $300-400 but I have access to many pc games now
That reminds me when I decied in one of the campaigns I was in, I had my character randomly decide to talk to a wisp that was hostile, and befriended it.
My Dm was like ???? because they had to suddenly give them a name and backstory on the spot š
Okay ty for the info!
They're pretty expensive, but from what I know about them from friends, it runs pretty smooth and well. And it has a huge collection of games via Steam
Of course āŗļø
we still down? i had to prep dinner
instead of a steam deck i went with a rog ally. a little more price friendly in some places and all the same capabilities and if not a lsightly better performance
It may be a more viable option for me than a full on new PC setup & hopefully better gameplay experience than a switch which I was considering anyway. ANYTHING to get some more Palia time
Yes, love the collection of games. And can have it up on a monitor and use a mouse and keyboard to play
Never heard of this? I shall check it out
Yes
i almost exclusively play on mine now. only downside is chatting i n game is kind of a dud unless you have it docked.
Same issue with the steam deck. The keyboard can go rouge
MY jaw about hit the floor at that price tag š That converted to my currency is about what I paid for my ROG PC
Either way, good to know I have more options than just a switch
I hadnāt heard of the rog ally either but it looks great
I just don't get why they haven't released steam deck in Australia
Thatās so weird. Iāve had mine for a while in the US
How is the Situation? xD still waiting?
Dang I just checked general and people are throwin shade
It's ok to close discord for a bit and do something productive š
Isnt that the truth
Yeah, servers are still down for maintenance. They will post here #š¢āpalia-status messageonce they are back up and running again
I do wonder what is taking so long, but hopefully it means they're taking their time and perfecting whatever they're doing rather than just throwin out a 'good enough' patch to get it back up and running
Mods definitely have their hands full š I wonder do y'all mentally prepare in advance for patch days bc the shift in energy in general is WILD compared to what it usually is
thank you^^
that is right. :) Maybe some system crashed or something.^^
imagine them finally fixing party bug
Those dang pesky chapaa's, lol. šÆš«£š š
Does palia ever crash when everyone tries to get in at the same time after an update?
I've never experienced it but I have only been around for 2-3 patches
I think I developed some form of ptsd with the uwu chapaas must be chewing on wires line LMAO it drove me nuts like just tell us like adults what's going on
Usually there's a large wait on the loading screen.
Oh ok. That makes sense.
Any other games like Palia you guys have enjoyed playing? I think Iāve played most of this genre š
I am PRAYIN it's up soon, my nephew is coming later and if he can't play Palia I will be forced to help him play fortnite instead
If you haven't played My Time at Sandrock, I definitely recommend that one
I have. I havenāt finished the story. It takes a long time lol
Yeah, it's a very meaty game
The only game similar to Palia I have played is stardew, I found Palia accidentally, watching a reel about a similar game and reading comments where someone mentioned it and HALLELUJAH bc Palia is like the game I always dreamed of (lacking in areas ofc) but the potential is thereee. Otherwise, farm together but I don't really see them as comparable
But I did love it
there's a lot of games in this genre that are too cutesy or force you to be too friendly lol Palia seems to hit a sweet spot that I like
Oh and Zelda BotW which I LOVED but I sold my switch
Same! Iām used to playing Stardew, the harvest moons, subnautica
I havenāt played the new Zelda! Thatās a great recommendation to try
I would love to play the new one but my brother said it was meh, he does have very high standards though
Rune Factory 4 and 5 I had a lot of fun with too
My favourite part was the puzzles in the temples or whatever they're called, though I do remember being very frustrated. I think BotW is the first game I ever fully completed
I havenāt been able to get into rune factory but I think I need to try again. Everyone loves it
Yes! I loved Zelda BOTW so much.
I tried fae farm but couldn't keep up, it turned into a grind and guess I wasn't enjoying it enough to keep going
I wish it wasn't switch exclusive or I would buy it and play it all over again, I do have the memory of a gold fish so it would be just like playing for the first time all over again
Never heard of fae farm, sounds interesting
I did the same with fae farm. It keep me interested for a while and then got bored
I go between my steam deck, switch and ps5 so I can play the different exclusive games
fae farm is good, it's not as cutesy-cutesy as animal crossing, which is why I tried it. some games are over the top with cutesy and I just wanna yak
I enjoyed coral island for a while too
uh, don't be offended, anyone, please. I just realized what my comment sounded like...
Same with grounded
The only other game I play is runescape but questing drives me NUTS and it got very grindy
I just can't handle cutesy stuff
It can totally be too cutesy.
I agree, I disliked animal crossing it was quite boring imo, fae farm seems a bit too cutesy on my first impression
WAIT I JUST REMEMBERED I HAVE AN IMAGE FOR THIS
palia is the only game i play
