Probably because the issue got much worse with this patch. I know a company bought them out not even two months ago. I feel bad that they’re running on a skeleton crew and possibly have no one testing these patches except us.

I like the way Dreamlight Valley does voting. You have no idea who you are voting for and just pick between two photos. I know that’s not possible with Palia. Because you have to tour. I do love tours to see how creative people are. I found a waterslide build. I think someone here on discord made it. But I don’t remember who. But it was so fun. Until my switch decided to freeze.

I haven’t tried asking anyone for tickets. I have patience. I can wait to get a nameplate. Honestly I’d rather have a plate for a sign at the entrance to my plot.

yep, everything should have an equal shot of being gotten from the wheel. because half of those things are worthless to players who have established themselves in the game. the ingredients are a waste as most people have their focus food set up, fireworks are just useless, most people can get gold through their game play so that the 100g is nothing to them. only the plushies, decor and lucky coins are of any worth (imho)

i agree! it is confusing. i say pc because a steamdeck is more than half of a pretty good pc. with a pc you don’t have to wait for games to come to steamdeck, you can use it outside of games, you can very easily upgrade it whenever you want, etc.

i have a beast pc simply because i spent 4 years saving up for it, but it doesn’t have to be $1k+

i say easy to upgrade in the terms of figuring out what it is that would bring your gaming to next level. you plug in the part you’re thinking about into pc part picker, and install it yourself or take it to a shop and they usually don’t charge a lot to do something like that

yeah definitely! i’ve not looked into the pc market for over a year now, but at the time pre builds were the best option, but that could be different now. for a very long time building your pc was more cost efficient. however, pc part prices are gonna start to rise soon so pre builds may be better for you. it’s all personal preference!

i don't hate the decorating aspect of the game, it's just when they announced that home tours were going to be a thing, i just thought that it was going to be a fun "hey, you can visit other people's plots to help get inspiration from them without having to be friends or have the person be at their plot" kinda like the dream islands in animal crossing where you also got rewards for going to x amount of dream islands. which would have been fine

instead what we got was a popularity poll, which if you're not lucky enough to be on the trending board the millisecond you can upload your plot on the reset time, or if you don't beg and advertise your plot every single moment of every single day and spend all of your time in palia just doing house tours in the hope that the other player you're visiting are reciprocating in kind, you will almost NEVER see tier 2 or higher nameplates. i have posted my plot every week since they released, and i only have one tier two nameplate, and that was the first week when i went crazy doing nothing but tours

I don’t pay attention to the trending aspect much. When I am going to look at homes, I avoid the trending ones and go for the new places just posted. And keep refreshing that list. That and friends and those that I have seen in #1267963034110922904 that make me want to take a second peak. If I get a name label, great. If not oh well. My plot isn’t that inspiring so I’m not stressed. This isn’t to take away from those who love to have the likes though. Playing Palia our own way is what makes it interesting. Y'know, I find myself very upset at two pretty glaring quest oversights.

1. We don't get a copy of Nai'o's pie recipe, despite literally gathering the ingredients for it

2. You cannot place the chopped meat you get during Catalyzing Caper as a cosmetic.

The flow tree seeds come from a ||statue that you get for completing the temple of the night sky bundle for the roots temple||, then you have to go back to the temple of the roots and speak with the Gardener and finish the questline ||A Gardeners New Oneness||, for the statue to give a chance every real life day to drop a flow seed

Yes, very rare, and yes, keep looking. Make sure you're server hopping with a jar, you'll likely find more that way than with lures.

Just search all the trees.

If you want to lvl up bug catching a good way is to tag in a party that is doing lures. (Make sure you bring lots of bombs) Try asking in #💬│lfg-chat see if anyone is doing a lure party. Of if you see lures in game go join them.

Have you tried using ore compasses? I’ve read in #🐟│fishing-mining that there is always palium somewhere, unless it’s just been mined. Try switching servers too.

You need to clear out other nodes as well for Palium to spawn, so make sure you're not just running past iron and stone.

You can make buzzy jars to easily find them, spitfire cicada tends to be found on sapwood's in bahari bay

Let's say that I, a dungeon master, wanted to make a theoretical campaign based on Palia.

We got our Humans, our Majiri, our Galurs, our Grimalkin, and our respective have races of the aforementioned.

How would you think you would wanna go about it? Like... idk. Tanaxi Grimalkin, sure. I was thinking elf for Majiri but if we were to assign Elf to someone like Sifuu.... she gives more Orc vibes than anything. How would you personally reskin the d&d 5e races to fit the current races we know of in the Paliaverse?

I clear every stone I see either in the north, or south. Then run through the same area again. Usually palium will spawn, or someone might call it out near where you are. Some servers seem luckier than others. I will call out the medium and large all the time. Small I call out if there’s a gem in it.

I mean if you really wanna pin it 1-1 then probably Humans/Half-elves/Warforged/Tabaxi, because Majiri are semi-magical and descended from humans, so that's probably the most accurate (and yes, half-elves can be buff, Sifuu just has 20 strength or something)

But when retrofitting D&D to non-D&D settings I always let people pick whatever species they like and fluff it to be one of the species in the non-D&D world. Because homebrewing stuff is a pain in the butt.

This is the way! A note though, once you mine the node and it's gone for you, the next person won't get that gem unless they got there and hit the node while you were still there too. You only get shared drops like that if each person hits the same shared node. The best person mining it after you tap and leave it will have a new drop chance entirely. I hope I'm explaining this well! Still keep calling out the nodes, I've gotten a lot of gem drops from small pals!

Pets should stay at 850 if there not going to discount them (when you buy one of the same species) for more expensive pets... flutterfox was 850 but since pets arent in a bundle like other stuff they dont get discounted atm 1.275 is what all the other pets cost know per pet thats 16.49$ for a single pet ;-; in some places probolly more expensive

i think it's normal for an MMO to go through cycles, others have it as well, even WoW. people wait months or even years for a continuation, a new expansion. people return when new stuff comes around. important isnt necessarily constant retention, but making sure enough new players start and making something every now and then that makes people come back.
even in 2014, i knew people who had multiple max level WoW characters that were done with everything that had released until then, and they just logged in for their gardens, haha.

Pretty common story at this point. This is not an MMO no matter how much they want to pretend it is... The co-op is an afterthought and there's really no lategame things to do with friends. Most of the game is focused on grinding the same resources and hoping you get lucky with RNG to get plushies.

They seem more concerned with adding to the cash shop than actually fleshing out the game and a lot of us have been worried about Palia's future for awhile. It should be pretty indictive that there's only a small handful of us still around that participated in the first tests of the game.

And granted... I haven't logged in for months at this point. I just stick around to watch the progress (or lack thereof in some cases) and hope that there will eventually be a reason for me to play.

The reveal of trading and Elder woods in the future gives some hope but I just worry it might be too little too late.

I do agree but the difference with wow is after you have finished the 'main' current content there is many many other things to do (pet collecting, achiv hunting, professions, multiple monthly events, trading post stuff- so on) Oviously Palia is still very new comparatively but there is practically no 'other' stuff to do once you have finished the main story. There is only so many times you can redecorate your house or play hotpot :( And practically no reason to come on with friends.

Like said above, they have promised the new zone but its a big worry that people will have gotten bored here and found there 'new' cozy game to sink hours into

Yeah, as you said, many other games had a lot more time to develop that over years or decades. And just as people can get bored or sick with Palia, so will they with the new cozy game they sink hours into, I think 🙂
I try to consider that it's still new, still beta, and has a different model than many other comparable games. I know not everyone agrees with that and that is fair, but I think a paid model would potentially alleviate some of the content issues. The MMOs with big expansions and content upgrades, with lots more to do, tend to have these models. Means they get to hire more people for it.

I'm grateful it is free, but I personally wouldnt mind paying a subscription if it meant keeping it alive and being able to hire good people for content updates.

I also wonder if a paid model would mean they would focus less on creating more cosmetics for money than content, and would be able to focus more on content because income is a bit safer even without new cosmetics.

They had a crew of over 200 people and five years of development thus far. The "beta" argument has been lost on me - no game in beta has a fully functioning cash shop with $50 outfits.

I don't think so, honestly. Other games have survived it, and many players of those handle it by only getting a subscription temporarily when they have time to play or can afford it. That often means only getting 1-3 months a year, or only subscribing for specific events or new expansions, but it works for them. I think if the game means enough to them, they will make it work. Also, I guess that would mean losing players that don't generate money either way, so it's no loss? Because if you won't get a subscription, you're unlikely to buy cosmetics either.

I dont think it would ever make less payed cosmetics, look at WoW, u pay for the game, every expansion, a subscription AND THEN there is a cosmetics shop on top of that

Or heck, they could do a lot by just lowering the prices. It's hard to spend $50 on an outfit. It's easy to spend $10 on five different ones.

I think we unfortunately have to say goodbye to a lot of free or cheap things in gaming that used to work out okay before, which is sad. The market, shareholder goals, layoff rounds everywhere etc. coupled with the progression of lootboxes, battlepasses, generally cosmetics or other microtransactions over the years.. some predatory, some pay to win, etc.. so I am fully ready for Palia to introduce one-time pricing or subscription. I would prefer it over it dying, or offering to convert irl money to ingame gold or level or renown, or other things like that to squeeze more out of it in bad ways.

I have bought two outfits, two tool skins and a landscape so far (mind you, this was also with the bonus credits, the bonus pets etc., some cheaper options, and you can combine the available purchase options to cost less than if you bought the amount altogether). I think about what value I usually get out of single player games (AAA, not indie), which tends to be 30-40 hours (especially without any boring filler content), and they cost 70 eur. So I look at my hours (which are currently 160) and see what that tends to cost me in many other games. I'm definitely done with purchases for a good while though.

I'm not always like this though, I didnt spend a single cent on Warframe and I have 250h if i remember correctly

A way to earn paid money (even if slooow) like u said is not only an insentive to buy a little more to top it up to what u want but also just a good reason to get people on to play
A free pet for everyone, this would NEVER stop the people who would already buy pets buying a cute pet they want, would possibly get people who wouldnt buy a pet to want a 'better' one after interacting with the one they have and also they would then be able to make pets have actual functions
Not money based but no way to ever earn any clothes ingame also seems odd but thats a different topic really

Would be interesting to try out rewarding request system gifts with +1 premium currency instead of +1 renown. I know friends could then just send eachother 4 mushroom requests a day to each fulfill it and "game the system", but thanks to the request limit and the cosmetics prices, it would still take an awfully long time to scrape that together, and you'll stil have to gather or produce the resources you'll gift.

i think it could also self-limit in other ways; like obviously, people wanna go fulfill requests then to get the currency, so there are never gonna be many open ones available for you (or only shortly until someone else does). at the same time, you may not wanna waste your request slots fully in case you need something a bit later on and cannot request it, just for someone to get a few premium coins.

Of those extra 100 that came in, maybe another 10 won't buy cash shop items but there's 20 that will.

That's money gained.

Does it work out perfectly like that every time? Nah. But it's a calculated gamble and investment strategy.

Either way, the current cash shop model clearly isn't working.

I'd like it if this had a similar system, because there would be those free to play players, but those willing to spend the money to get items faster (cosmetics), they would because they can. I used to play Paladins and you could earn 50 gems (or whatever their premium currency was) per week. I still ended up spending money on the game. the gems were a login bonus, and you had to boot up the game every day for a week to collect them so it was a grind if you wanted a free premium cosmetic. I think people underestimate the value of a large player-base. Palia is by no means large, so it needs to extra hard to incentivize people to play.

All hypothetical as a base idea without knowing what can and will be tradeable. Player based value

Even making a hypothetical value sheet would be difficult, since we don't know anything about how trading is going to work. Don't know if things will be for gold, or a 1 <-> 1 system (like 1 fish for another fish), or anything. So it's a bit difficult to judge, estimate, or predict that.

Normally in games like this, though, the community ends up judging the value over time once people are more familiar with the system (or, said item after it's been added).

while on the toilet, i had a thought. what if they did the trading system like the old GTS from pokemon games. it was a total pos in that half the time the trade would have been already taken, but it allowed a player to put up a pokemon that they wanted to trade, and then request the pokemon that they wanted, go about their day, and then they would get a notification as to when the trade completed. yeah, a lot of the trade requests were illegal level requests (legendary pokemon that most if not all started out at level 50+ being requested at level 1 and so forth, but i digress.)

I think a market board style trading system like that is a good idea, especially in conjunction with an in person trade feature like most MMOs do. This would allow me to do the one thing that actually keeps me engaged in MMOs, which is stockpiling resources to give to my friends.

How would one person go about deciding the trade value of items lol, it's all supply and demand. A Rainbow Tipped Butterfly might sell in the shipping bin for the same 500 gold that a Fairy Mantis does, but the Rainbow Tipped Butterfly is generally much more difficult to find... So it would definitely be valued much higher.

That's why I think the best way to keep in the spirit of Palia is just item <-> item trading... you just need to match the in-game gold value of the item within 10% either way (you could literally trade 500 stones for that one Rainbow Tipped Butterfly) so it keeps a lot of the competition out of the game.

the old Global Trading System from the pokemon games (Black/White or X/Y era i think.... stars i'm showing my age here) would probably work well. You put up the item you're willing to trade (Proudhorn plush that has no gold value) and then you request what you would like in return (Flow wood for example). Other players can scroll through a list of offerings on a board or something, and they can decide if that's a good deal or not. But ultimately, talking about how the trade system will work isn't really that important, seeing as how we have a lot of uncertainly as to how many of an item you can request stack wise. can you only request one of each item? can you request an entire bag full of items at once for one item? will you be able to trade star quality items? we don't know

The loading of objects is apparently affected by the device you are having and how fast it can load them up. Which is why some of us don't encounter it as often as other players. And the chances a switch player to have problems with objects loading is even higher than someone with an old pc 😅.

My personal opinion on this, I think they are trying to test out ways to make the game load faster and to find ways to grant us the extra item limit we so much desire. Or game just broke down by mistake 😅. I hope it's the first option though ☺️

Other methods are by begging for votes or finding a streamer to showcase your home and If it's good other people might visit as well.

having the nameplates as achievements, like the coffee cup one, will make touring houses so much easier and less stressful than what they are now. people are now demanding proof that you actually went to their plot (not all, but some and it seems to be catching on), one person said that they would blacklist the person if they didn't respond with a screenshot back. it's become nothing more than speed dating, get in, give the response, get out. very few people are actually looking at the plot. i don't think this is what s6 was intending

Do they even have enough staff to be looking at the bug reports? All of my plots have 500 invisible items on it- some global glitch still not fixed? Ya talk about why you can't increase the plot limit, but you don't explain why you can't fix this bug. It's like starting a game where everyone's using swords and you're handed a spaghetti noodle. Gee, this is fun- especially seeing some people with 3500 items plus on their plots. Two- my tool skins aren't working properly and this was something I spent money on- constantly need to re-equip, and I have one that isn't even allowing me to equip it half the time. as long as the switch let's me, i do like to tour some of the houses, it's what it was meant to be for. especially if the plot has things that i'm actually working on in my house (like the shipping bin, garden area, or aquarium setups)

It's not invisible items, trees and some other items count to the total ammount.

The people that have over item cap, it's also because of the trees.
If you have a plot with item cap and you plant a forest in another plot, those trees will over cap you other plot.

Hoping for a fix on this for some time, but a lot of people only noticed this bug recently because of the item counter.

I only have two plots with items on them, both are capped. Although both do have some trees on it, no where near 500. My first plot is pretty much all Makeshift items, both plots have reached their limits. It's kinda like feeling like you only have 3/4's of a game vs everyone else you're playing with.

Make sure you sent it to the right support. There’s a few different ones that just upload it to their feedback page. If you didn’t receive a “we will get back to you” email than you need to resend it to the right support ticket. They usually respond within 48s.

Unfortunately it's not just trees that count across plots, like Kira said this also happens with other items. All of these, as well as all trees and all buildings will count towards to plot counter on the other plots they're not on. But I agree with your sentiments. I hope they can get back to you about your tool skins especially, that's super frustrating as a paid item and not the first I've heard of skins bugging out hard this patch.

Additionally, it seems the plot item counter is indeed buggy itself, as people have been tallying their items from scratch and the math is still not mathing.

Yeah- this is good to know, as I was stripping trees and it was clear that it's not the only thing going on. I love this game otherwise, I've put in over 1300 hours on steam alone. I have level 550 in fishing forthe love of god, I"m just being whiney about a free to play game, I know, I know. I had to vent lol. Removing certain stuff on other plots will bring that back down. I've also had to 1) remove fences and use other means of "framing in" an area cuz fences count per piece 2) maximizing paver pathways by using larger ones for the multiple size paths as much as looks good. If you have growing trees on your other plots, removing them is a quick way to decrease you item count on your main plot here since they leak

since a lot of people (myself included) feel disheartened by seeing so many empty plots with a ridiculous of votes on the house tours, i wonder if it would be unrealistic to want a minimum item limit. like you wouldn’t be able to post your plot if you had fewer than say 100 items. that would force people to at least make something. just a random idea that popped into my head just now.

I don’t even bother going to the showcase plots. Partially because they might crash my switch and partially because they have thousands of votes. I never even get 10. I would love if I can see my friend/community members to avoid having to type everything in. But they either need to have players not be able to get more than so many votes per category per week, or make it easier for those who aren’t getting any notice to get some. I’ve been to beautiful plots with only a couple votes. I’ve also seen those with zero decorations and hundreds of votes. There has to be a better way. I know my plot isn’t well decorated. I do try to but I’m just not very good at it. It’s a bit defeating to get less than 10 votes though.

I do fair better, at least sometimes, on Dreamlight Valley. I’ve gotten 4000 moonstones a few times. But usually I get no more than 900. But it makes me feel a bit better if I score well.

It’s also hard to decorate on switch. Half the time it won’t grab the item from my inventory when I click on the item. Instead it picks up the item I just placed. I have to back out of placing items pretty much every time. Plus the glitches people have found mostly don’t work. So I give up and just have a messy plot.

i posted my plot yesterday, and though i don't know how many people have actually come through the plot and just didn't leave a reaction, i do know that my plot was seen by at the bare minimum of 11 times total. granted, it's not fully decorated like those of the trending board, and i'm still working on it, but in the past two days, at least 11 people came to my plot. and honestly, it probably won't get very many more views the rest of the week

So if the plot owner uploaded as soon as the servers reset for house tour, it will go into the trending page. That’s still can’t explain why those empty plots got thousands of votes, why do people not skip to another better plots to vote even though the empty plot was uploaded faster than the rest.

just woke up, so sorry for the late reply. the problem with the house tour system is that unless you are lucky to upload your plot during the millisecond between the event end and begins again, the odds of you ever getting any of the higher tiered nameplates is near impossible unless you are begging and advertising your plot every single moment of every single time you're playing palia. the tiers require 10/50/200 and now 1000 votes to get all of the nameplates for a single reaction emoji. most people, even those who have plots that are highly decorated like one that i chose to go to randomly, struggle to get more than 20 votes total during a week unless they have been advertising or begging for said votes even though they are amazing plots.

my best guess, is that they were the lucky ones to get the upload window for trending, and because the trending board is the first thing you see when you go over there, people are using it for their weekly tour tickets. and they try to get it done as fast as possible

though i don't know how they are getting the little pictures on their plot name...

and it's really a shame to that this is the way the mechanic works. last night i was looking for kitchen inspo in decor and found someone's kitchen that i wanted to see, so i went to the tours to see if they uploaded it. it wasn't the same kitchen, but the plot was set up like a fancy restaurant, fully decked out, and absolutely gorgeous. I had to walk the entire plot which playing on switch is a hazard. but the plot only had like 6 total votes

it's a known little bug, you're not actually banned, just close and open the game again and you'll be fine, just don't click it again

Now that I'm aware, I don't see any reason to continue putting time into it when the vast majority of players will never be able to get beyond the first or second tier of nameplate within a singular week. Yeah I have some problems on PC sometimes but it's awful on the switch. Half the time the tools don't wanna work, animals glitch around wildly when trying to hunt. Even bugs like to disappear through the ground. I usually tend to my garden and mine or attempt to fish if I'm on the switch.

Just submitted feedback via the website on this. I'm just hoping so much that there will eventually be an open player trade market (not just a one-on-one player trade ability). A market (like most mmo's have) where we can sell crafted items, materials etc. Being able to make our own price etc. (an in-game economy). I just want to live my best Palian merchant life It's always been my most favorite feature in mmo style games. For me, I think this would really take Palia to the next level.

I know a lot of people have certain dislikes for some of the gathering/crafting mini-games and would probably just like to go to the market and buy stacks of Briar Daisies and other items (including specialty crafted high boosting foods) rather than having to invest the time to do things to collect them. Me, I love all the games and gathering and would just really love being able to craft/collect then head over to list my items for those that need them.

Well, since we're still in beta, this suggestion is obviously for the future of the game. I know they are working on adding multiple zones down the road, which would open things up tremendously (as far as new materials/crafting etc.). So, this is why I'm petitioning now for consideration.

I used to play a ton of elder scrolls online and the player market on there is very enjoyable (if you are a crafter/gatherer who enjoys selling on a market). People will buy stacks of materials and craftables from other players at the market if it means they don't have to fuss with trying to gather said items themselves.

I imagine specializing would mean that if you choose to mine, you wouldn't be able to work on gathering or at least not "specialize" in it, meaning potential tiers of the skills so that those people could get specialized items. I guess similar to like (first example I think of), WoW's old profession system where like Alchemy had 3 specializations (elixir master, transmutmation master and I forget the third, maybe potions master?) where transmutation alchemists could have procs for extra transmutation bars and elixir masters could get extra elixir prompts.

Personally I like being able to do all the skills and specializations always give me FOMO and such lol.

oh, ok. I see what you mean. ESO is a bit different in that regard. You don't have to pick a "profession", you just level up your skills in all the areas if you want. The thing is that not everyone wants to spend hours fishing, gathering, crafting, etc. So, a lot of people who are more focused on other activities would rather just buy items/stacks of mats from other players (rather than having to stop what they enjoy doing in-game to do what they don't to get said items). On ESO, I sold everything from raw materials to crafted gear, furniture etc. You don't need to have a "specialty" that only allows you to do one profession or thing.

I think a model like what ESO offers could absolutely work in Palia

Ofc, I'm also for item <-> item trading, too.

I also don't think easy = time to play tbh. Sometimes I have problems with fishing because I have days where my hand dexterity and coordination is awful. I use an xbox controller for fishing when I'm at the PC because mouse/keyboard is difficult to do with my hand/eye dexterity/coordination. Others may have the same issues with that kind of accessibility.

There's a disconnect when you limit "community" size to server size, there are plenty of online games out there with huge communities that end up being across multiple servers because of limitations. Was hoping there’s an option for a minimap😞 would rather have a minimap up there than the clock tbh, the compass works to an extend but I still find myself opening and closing the map way too many times 😩

oh yeah a minimap would be a dream. also my compass has been kinda broken since the last update where it no longer points me to npcs with quest objectives, only to places, so i keep having to check the map to see where ppl are lol which doesn't help much

If you're on PC you can middle click a spot or a person to pin it to your compass. Idk about Switch

the minimap thing for me is just something i'm used to for these types of games (open world exploration etc) but each game has its mechanics and we end up getting used to them after a while, so no biggie... just personal preference

The time in palia is quite important, and I think they choose to go with the time instead of the minimap because of that.

The map itself is quite easy to memorate and navigate, and the use of the marker when you wish to go somewhere so you get there easily.

like i said it's just a matter of being used to something else and learning something new, which is no biggie ^^ but in regards to time i used to play neverwinter and how they sorted it was by adding a little marker around the minimap that showed you the time of day. if yellow then day, if blue then night. a lot simpler than palia, that's for certain!!!! my point being it's possible, just something that they could figure out if they decided to give players the option. again, not saying their system is awful or that i hate it

Yeah, was going to mention, it's not always 'easy' to memorize maps or layouts. Minimaps are great, not just for QoL but also for accessibility reasons. I dissociate a lot and am quite forgetful, so even if I memorize something, having a minimap to help guide me is suuuper beneficial for me, personally. And I'm sure others have similar experiences!

I get how some might find the age gap creepy or whatnot. I guess I just look at it that it's a fantasy world, the Majiri are not human and therefore likely don't abide by human "rules", so to speak. Their culture is vastly different.

I haven't gotten through the lore bits for Hassian and Tamala either so the only info i know about it is reading what people have said.

i'm not a fan of may to december relationships, but i also believe that you can't help who you fall in love with. i don't like tamala's personality because of how she talks down to the player character, and the options for responses are not really something i like either.

agree, i don't really mind a 10 year gap as long as the couple were older when they met (a 50 year old getting with a 40 year when they were in their 40's and 30's is fine to me) it's those that are younger than when one partner is younger than 30 that makes me question things or at least go "hold up". i still probably wouldn't pursue someone that was that much younger than me

aesthetically, yes, i like tamala, and love her house. i just can't get over how she talks to the player (one of her romance lines is about ||calling the player her pet and the response answers are either i'm not a pet (which i forget what she says in response) or woof woof||) not my cup of tea

Yeah, I don’t like either of those lines. ||If you respond with “I’m not your pet,” she basically sasses you back, and if you say “woof woof,” it’s basically like “that’s a good pet.” I bow down to no one and Tamala is 100% toxic and conceited.|| I want everything in her house. I know many of us share that sentiment.

It’s the same reason why I’m not fond of Caleri because of how rude and condescending she is.

The youngest I'd go is 10 years younger but it's not something I'd actively pursue. My girlfriend is 9 years younger than me, we've dated almost 2 years and met about 3 years ago. Didn't pursue her or anything, it just happened. My husband is only 4 years older than me, though. But I've known people who've had 15+ age gaps. It bothers me when it's an older person (like 40s+) going after like a 20 yo.

As far as that line/comment, it wouldn't bother me as a player but it's one of those nicknames I kind of like 😅

In fiction I'm a bit more lenient because it's just that, fiction, and as long as it's not pushing it into someone's life or basically making it out that it's the ONLY path, then it's... I dunno, whatever in that sense. I've written age gaps in my fantasy worlds but the laws there for that don't abide by "human laws" or culture, so to speak. But it's not something I try to push as normal for our world.

Yes! It’s fantasy, and with them not being human and not on Earth, it’s a completely different culture. That said, I’m very aware with romancing, the devs carefully made sure Auni and Najuma weren’t romanceable since they are literal children.

I learned about Tamala’s existence a few weeks in after launch when my partner mentioned “I have to go talk to Tamala in Bahari,” and I’m like “WHO?!” She was the last person I started interacting with, but was like the 4th/5th person to reach level 4 with.
