Since the game launched in august but on switch since yesterday of course but with my steamdeck we had to make our own mapping which made it a bit slower since we could not fit every single keyboard key. Now that palia is on switch, it is much faster for me to play. Also I have the oled too and i love it!!

quick question since i’m new to the game. how does saving work? if i understand correctly, it auto-saves and i don’t have to manually save before leaving the game? if yes, how often does the games saves?

it does auto-save, just not sure how often

just close game like you do any app, you’re good to go

everything is real time, server side. so whatever you do should save unless they rollback servers which is VERY RARE

the only time this will be an issue is if you are lagging terribly and things you do, never reached the server. if you got stable internet should be fine

If you wander off with it running rather than shutting dien properly, you just get disconnected from the server when you return, no loss of progress.

you may just have issues connecting to chat servers. try restarting game. right bumper to start chat, press A, type. press Y to send. give it a go

No issue with anything else, it's obviously on wifi because Switch, but it is good fibre broadband. I don't have Nintendo Online.

the issue with party in this game is, the moment there is a slight disconnect from any end from either party, connection won’t work. best bet is both relog and try party invite

I’m not sure if you need Nintendo online but, if it continues I would send support a ticket. could just be a hiccup. try leaving your plot or changing servers see if it helps. you can do this by leaving plot to go kilima or entering bahari or going to zeki’s underground etc etc

not sure what the origin of this article is but Palia is currently available on PC for players in North American and Western European regions, with more regions coming soon, and on Nintendo Switch, it’s available globally outside of China, Russia, and Argentina.

the switch is a potato with a screen, i'm not going to hold my breath to get better graphics. the system is already running 30 fps. they might be able to patch a bit more into how the npcs and creatures act (stopping the stuttering walking and jumping around like they did with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet) but otherwise probably this is what it's going to be

I was thinking about this as well. I would imagine it's graphics aren't going to change much. You can look at other games like DDLV and Animal crossing and compare but at the end of the day Palia's world is much larger and there's a lot more going on. So for performance reasons I think trying to increase the graphics might hurt the experience. Though we shall see what amazing things they can do later down the line I guess.

has anyone also met issues with button irresponsive and UI's not showing?

here's the situation:

1. buttons can become irresponsive or UI can "not show" when supposed to, for example:

1a. "fill water can" with X can be irresponsive no matter how many times you press it, but can be resolved by selecting and de-selecting tool by ZL button.

1b. Wooden Storage Chest's (A) Open UI might not pop up when in close proximity, when after watering plants, can also be resolved by selecting and de-selecting tool by ZL button, or by directional button "left or right" selecting an action slot on action bar then B button to cancel selection.

2. Action bar selected slot UI might not show corrosponding button when selected, it's suppose to show (B) Cancel (A) Use(item type dependant) (X) Eat(item type dependant), but instead would show " Cancel Use Eat", the corrosponding button B A X doesn't show up along with the UI.

There are probably more of the same issue persists, I've only started playing on Nintendo Switch for like 30 minutes and already faced these issues.

My mom has her biological dad aka my grandpa and another dad that has been there for her for as long as she can remember I think and she thinks of him as her other dad too even if they are aren't blood related. But sadly he is super sick and is in the hospital again and even tho he refused surgery he is getting surgery this morning and if he dies my mom said we have to respect his wishes which unfortunately are not to resuscitate him. I had the same overflow issue. I had to go to my inventory from the main menu, getting there by pressing + then I was able to select the overflow items and move them to my bag. I wasn’t able to do it from the storage screen.

Luckily it doesnt delete any items, just sends them to your home storage. So don’t worry about losing them, though i would submit a ticket and ask if they know what controls to press to move things from overflow into storage

I had this same visual glitch, I found swapping between the categories and different recipes refreshed the ingredients without needing to restart the game.

Yeah I'd like to not have to play on my desk on pc but there are things on the mechanics on Switch that make it not fun. Like moving items in your inventory. You can't. Hunting and bug catching are more difficult. Also, using the pickaxe and then having to change to the bug catching is time consuming. I move items from the inventory view all the time. Though I agree on hunting and bug catching. Hunting is almost impossible if it takes more than one shot. They just teleport or disappear.

If you are having problems with the consumables that's strange but possibly they are items that need to be used in a different way? There is likely dozens and dozens of servers as there can only be 20 to 30 people or so at a time the only way someone can get to you is to friend you and sync to your server

Currently this is broken for cross region (as in someone in NA will likely not successfully sync to someone in EU for example at the moment)

For anyone having trouble with the request system, go to your Switch's system and unsync the time with the internet and then resync it with the internet. That fixed it so that I can now request items as well as fulfill requests.

It still looks like the winter event going on is not newbie friendly because after completing 5 player requests, you then need to get someone to be your mentor (forgot the in-game word for it). But that requires friendship level 4 and completing the associated quest.

if you go to sifuu's' blacksmith shop in the village, you can repair it for gold. or else you will have to craft repair kits and use them at a repair station

You can request cooper ore or bars with social requests from other players. They are kind and gift it. You can request up to 4 in a limited timeframe. But yes: Broken tools will downgarde.

About the gifts: The more rare they are the unlickely will gift it. But Cooper is not rare (not even iron) so you can use it to get some. Players will gladly gift them in this social MMO 🙂

I installed and played the game on both SD card and internal storage
Deleted the save data too
All of this was done as per their software and hardware troubleshooting they provided when I raised a support ticket

I was gonig to say, yeah, I wouldn't run it off of an SD card unless you're using one that has really high transfer speeds. Out of curiosity, have you tried playing it when it's plugged into a power source?

For reference the sd card is a Samsung EvoPlus SDXC UHS-I 130MB/s

I mostly play plugged into the power source since the game drains the battery quite fast. The thing is that the game was fine in the first few days of the release. Not much stuttering outside of the populated areas but it has become more pronounced and random irrespective of where I am on the map

Also, I mentioned this in my ticket.
My ambient temps during the gameplay sessions are anywhere between 17-21C
Overheating hasn't been an issue for short gameplay sessions

Hm.. That I have no iea. I still stutter some and I'm playing on an OLED. This might just be down to theg ame needs to continue to be optimized. When I was having the same issues when Scarlet/Violet released from Pokemon and I was struggling with stuttering i did a lot of closing / reopening of the game as well as clearing the cache and thta was about the only help until a fix was deplayed

Yup.
The game does need to be optimized quite a bit to reduce some of these stutters instead of blaming it on the hardware which they released it on.

no i think the A button is being a bad chappa mail doesnt matter , try opening different menus or rezoning, even going to the inventory menu of + helps some times, select what’s in red go to an empty slow and select again

I've noticed exiting out of it works sometimes but not always. And yeah it may not be related to mail which is why I haven't reported it as such because I honestly can't tell what exactly is causing it. I haven't tried rezoning to fix it but I may if it happens again and report back.

Honestly, once I realized it was in open beta I was a lot more forgiving of its faults. Like okay sometimes the menus get a little glitchy and the ingredients disappear but yknow that's just a little bug. The most frustrating bug so far has been when I'm chasing something and it runs into a hill and disappears, or it does the lag dance, but I've learned to just let it go as I'm only hunting them for trophies anyways.

Like everything functionally works, there's tons to do and explore, and I can see myself having fun with every patch, and I think that's the most important part of an open beta!

Same, I have played games with worse lag and bug issues which helps as well. Also Games where if you enter a place with tons of players it becomes a slide show Palia is pretty fun that I can't tear myself away for hours at a time despite the funny glitches and bugs.

i played a couple of hours (less than 10 i would say?) since the release bc i really wanted to try the game but didn’t want it on my laptop (it already handle 3 games and more would probably kill it…). and even if hunting and catching bugs are a bit of a struggle, i was enjoying the game. but i’m gonna have to stop playing for a while bc the texts in game and the icons on the map are so freaking small. Can someone explain to me why the "Prove Your Generosity" Quest is Bugged/Broken? Apparently you have to synchronize your time with other people who are needing requests done.

If that's the case how are we supposed to get these quests done because that would mean we would have to find out the time zones that those people live in.

you just have to sync your switch time and hope you get lucky into a server where people are requesting items. you could also try (key word try) to type into chat saying that you are new and need to complete the generosity quest and see if people will request something easy

hmmm.... i saw someone else say that they had to go into the system setting, turn off the internet time (don't sync to internet) then turn it back on, not sure if that would fix it or not. if not, then you may need to go to tech support

So a while back someone had jacked into my brother's switch and basically took his account and put it on their switch and I guess when my brother finally found out and reset all the security parameters and measures it reset everything in the game with the exception of our game data
