Not to get lawyer-y, but this is not the agreement with steam, this is steamworks documentation that outlines the tools that exist within steam, and this question is about the rules if you are designating your game as early access, not the rules for when you need to designate early access. I don't really want to talk about TOSs because it's so pedantic but if we want to go there there is no mention of Early Access within the Steam SDA which is the agreement developers/publishers sign when distributing games with Steam.

A pin works for now, but ehh, you mods have to do way too much of S6's work already. I just want them to take genuine responsibility for their messes, and throw it in as an actual announcement that everyone can easily see and refer to. Right now I'm the only one who got pinged with an apology.

I think a pin makes sense. I wouldn't make a broad announcement because frankly I don't think most players care that much about the snail mistake. I think that there's a decent sized group who cares about what they feel the snail represents, and I feel really sorry about how that mistake has led to so much distrust, but I don't think that communication is meaningful to a wide enough group of people that an official announcement is required.

The bigger thing is I don't want to get into a world where all statements need to be official announcements. That will lead to an incredible barrier for all communication and honestly we've had that mentality in the past and I think is one of the things that has contributed most to some of our biggest silences.

if you plan to keep adding to that, it's possible it's caused by changes of lighting in-game. easiest example of this being when the outdoor lighting is changing for sun going down/coming up. might be worth finding out what in-game time it's happening to people, when possible

I know there's important conversation going on, but please remember to opt into this conversation in good faith. It's hard to read the tone behind messages, and I am continuing to assume things are being sent civilly, but I think we're getting closer to crossing the line in some respects.

As a phd candidate I think you understand the types of bias in those anecdotes compared with what we can look at with a more scientific sampling methodology.

I'm a bit torn because on one hand you say "I don't think they care about the snail" but also "a decent sized group" and "has led to so much distrust".

But again, as you and others have said, it's not about the snail. It is the gaslighting of the community (intentional or not) and then not rectifying it. It's about showing that you're turning a new leaf, that even if the snail may not have been the biggest offender, S6 are genuinely trying to take accountability for mistakes. If you (as a company... I need to be clearer when I say you if I mean person or company, so I'll take that criticism) want to show you are being serious about rebuilding that trust with the community and show you are trying to make a change in the relations between the community and you (the company), I do think an announcement is in order... maybe not today, maybe not without vetting it through management or whatever, but soon.

But yeah, I understand that you should be able to also talk on a more personal level, and not have everything be an announcement. I think this one is worthy of that though... because this isn't an isolated incident, this is an incident that in many ways represent how we have come to view the company, and is something the community needs to see is changing (I really hope it is).

Might be beneficial posting, to Kresjah's point, an overarching acknowledgement of some of the things S6 has slipped on (color swatches, snail, etc.), why that might've happened, and a "commitment to do better." Very short version, but it might be a good way to make it an announcement without making "everything" an announcement.

Honestly, data points are interesting. It reminds me of another game I played. They have a regular event that a lot of us found really unfun and required many hours of having to be online and active during the event, but the rewards would be one of the few ways to keep somewhat competitive. So a fair few of us suffered through it.

But the company could just cherry pick that data and say "we saw players spending 6-8 hours actively playing the event, therefore it is a good and loved event", while a lot of us did not like it but did it because it was the only way to enjoy the rest of the game when you weren't a super spender (think closer to $500-$1000 month).

I genuinely want to just respond to this [without a ping], to mention that this is essentially what would be nice. I know that some might think a lot of player's don't care [I know it might of been something different but still]... but even if that's the case, showing some accountability, even if it was to a smaller margin of the playerbase, is definitely beneficial.

I know you value those who are passionate with this game, WC. I know a handful of people, who are passionate with the game, who would probably like seeing an announcement similar to this. It'd help at least start hopefully rebuilding that bridge for those players and S6/Palia, and hopefully even get to the point where they can enjoy the game again and play again.

So I have a question about something that happened recently with the Holiday homestead update. We were shown new modification colors for furniture, in the patch notes it stated that "warm, festive tones to icy winter pallettes" would be available. It also said "Explore hundreds of enabled decor tints available now on the modification bench."
In the trailer for the patch, and even if you go to the patch notes and look at the gif there, it shows black, and white, along with other tones that aren't on the modification table at all. So were we misreading and misunderstanding, or were we intended to have new tints that didn't get added. I'd like to emphasize that I'm not angry, I just want to understand what's going to be available with the patch, because some of the wording and advertising is a bit misleading. Again, I love this game, I'm not trying to tell anyone not to play or not to post on the discord or anything of that nature.
I just want to have faith that y'all (the company) behind the game, are being honest with us about what we're getting. I mentioned the furniture tints as an example, because it was something I (and a lot of players) was really looking forward to. I understand it takes a lot of work and everything to implement things into the game as well.
I just feel that some of the wording used, is incorrect in getting the point across as to what is actually happening. And that if something isn't able to come to fruition, it's not being addressed at all.

Just curious,
Many of the plots {including the one that the ChiefChapaaOfficer shared pictures of.} that are going to be seen. Are going to involve Glitching in some way shape or form.
⭐ I.E all those floating lanterns, in their tree. Super pretty, & I can 100% show people how to do it. {I'm probably going to have to} but it in no way is a core function of the game.

⭐ As well things like: Removing walls {which since the landscape patch became a PC only glitch because the H menu boots you out of it whenever you change plots}
{Those are just 2 in a long list of colors in the Glitching Color Palette} 🎨

⭐ Or when the team "fixed" the metallic building blocks, or flowers, so they now have collision. 💔

I suppose what I'm trying to get at here is that a large portion of these "Feats of Creativity" owe their success to Creative Glitching Tools that have been, found, tested, & shared with the community via tutorials & via other works.

& it might behoove the team to consider looking at some of these glitches, & instead of removing them - finding some way to integrate them into the game as core functions.

Because these are all things that your player base want to do, & it can only benefit Palia in the long run to see what your player base is doing & evolve the game them. {Like was done with animation canceling for foraging. It started as a glitch. Then became a function}

Thankfully I've sorted the garden out enough in me three brain cells that I just use the most profitable crops that conveniently give the right boosts to not have to be dumping ferts all the time the only time I use harvest boost with for my apple tree, once a week, for my gardening acheev

It's a way to farm more hotpot prize wheel tokens per game night by the whole table just picking the center tile and discarding it- no one keeps the tiles for sets and the game auto ends and gives out a coin to each player after round 16 I think
