it makes it so anybody is able to jump in and join the fun, no matter what platform they're using

in some countries, AAA games are pretty expensive and arent purchased very often, maybe only once every year

If after signing up you saw a page that said "You're In" then you're in. From there just wait and keep an eye on your email saying you were selected. It might take a while as it's not an ongoing test. Playtests come in waves as well as the invites. Signing up gives you a chance to be picked for a wave.
