No one has CODES for the playtest. So if you see someone trying to sell you a code for access to the upcoming playtest, they are scammers.

Announcing you have "X number of invites, DM me your email to get invited" is a REALLY fast way to get your access to the Playtest revoked - potentially until the game launches.
(Also, you really wanna gamble your future access on a rando? If they leak, their invite is tied to you. So... it could impact YOUR playtesting. If you get the chance to bring some friends, BRING YOUR FRIENDS, not random folks on Discord, Reddit, etc. )

As always, drink your water, stay hydrated, stand for 1 minute every hour, and take your breaks/get some fresh air.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard about what went down in San Vansterdam this week: M-Corp, the city’s corporate overlords, are now the city’s former corporate overlords.

Just in case you have been rock-dwelling and don’t get how huge this news is, here’s a little backstory: during San Van’s boom period in the 1980s, a multinational investment conglomerate known as “M-Corp” (though I think they went by another name back in the day) started investing heavily in the city and, eventually, through a combination of deep pockets, influence, campaigns, and corruption*, managed to take over the place. It quickly became apparent that M-Corp had a single priority: profit. Over the following long and painful decades, their growth-at-all-costs approach throttled the city’s once thriving creative and collective spirit. Fun and self-expression became a thing of the past. Skateboarding? Forget about it. If it wasn’t filling M-Corp’s coffers, it was out.

The fine folks at SV Legal would like us to state that any mention of alleged corruption or otherwise illegal activity is merely speculation.

Fast-forward to 2024, and it looks like M-Corp’s “alleged” misdeeds have finally caught up to them and, despite what Kook of The Castle Richie Dandle has been saying, it’s over for M-Corp and their reign of terrible vest.

PROGRESSION UPDATE

Our Insider's Preview showed you guys cranking through the game, so the team has looked deeply into progression rates and made some changes to how fast you earn XP.To note:

  • We’ve eliminated any per-drop XP
  • Removed XP gain from items acquired through Neighborhood rank up
  • We’ve streamlined all XP gains from drop items to be 50 XP, regardless of rarity
  • Balanced XP gains in Market Mile mission item rewards

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed a few soft-lock progression issues, including the “Complete The Line” Mission
  • Fixed some crashing issues
  • Fixed an issue with party invites for Throwdowns
  • Fixed performance issues related to Quick Dropping items
  • Fixed various localization and text issues throughout the game
  • Fixed some thumbnail issues in the Create-A-Skater
  • Fixed a flickering shadow in two cinematics
  • Fixed a few character gesture issues
  • Fixed for getting stuck under the map
  • Fixed the “Err” Notification
  • Fixed PC players unable to turn off friend request notifications
  • Fixed issue where players are able to see other skaters when in spectate mode and can still hear them; however, in normal gameplay, they are invisible

Welcome to skate.'s Season 1, skate. Fam! As always, we're dropping the Patch Notes and Known Issues for you to dive into before the update goes live, and we're going live with Update 0.28.0 on Oct 7, 2025, with numerous fixes, improvements, tweaks, and changes. For more information about the new features coming to Early Access, refer back to our Season 1 blog.

IMPROVEMENTS AND ADDITIONS

** PC Improvements: **

  • Better widescreen support
  • Fixed the resolution selector by adding a drop-down menu, which also fixes how the resolution settings are applied.

** Stability Improvements**

  • We've resolved a significant number of crash bugs, resulting in a much smoother and more reliable game.

Gameplay Enhancements

  • Improvements have been made to core gameplay responsiveness and balance, ironing out many lingering bugs.

Narrative Updates

  • A broad range of narrative issues have been polished, making story and dialogue moments feel more engaging.

Audio Improvements

  • Numerous enhancements have been made to the game's audio for clearer sound and a more immersive atmosphere.

Create & Customize a Skater

  • You'll find enhanced skater creation and customization, with extensive fixes improving these features.

Visual & Material Updates

  • Significant visual polish, including improvements to textures and materials, means a crisper and more cohesive look throughout the game.

UI Polishing

  • The menus and user interface are cleaner and easier to navigate with several targeted improvements.

Localization

  • Updates have been made to improve playability and clarity in multiple languages.

BUG FIXES

  • Live Play & Data Fixes: Various issues affecting live game data and updates have been addressed.
  • Quickdrop/Throwdown Fixes: The Quickdrop and Throwdown systems have received significant bug fixes for improved performance.
  • Environmental Fixes: We addressed a wide range of issues, including level layouts, collision and environment interactions, resulting in noticeably improved navigation and exploration.
  • Mission Fixes: Mission-related bugs have been addressed for more consistent progression and objective completion.

KNOWN ISSUES FIXED IN 0.28

These are the top issues we wanted to highlight, but rest assured there are more issues fixed in this patch.

  • "Waiting for Players" bug when doing solo challenges.
  • Users experience an infinite loading screen when trying to join San Van on Xbox platforms.
  • Long queues to log into the game/server issues.
  • Founder's Upgrade is missing if Founder's Pack is purchased on a different platform.
  • Game crashes when scrolling through users in Spectate.
  • Players can be trapped by drop items in shop spawn locations.
  • The RIP Card customization will flicker between the old and new assets for a while after the selected user updates their customization.
  • Player stuck unable to progress Tour 1 Skater Eyes: Stunting 101.
  • During the last step of "Spots and How to Own Them" when the user will start the challenge, they will be stuck for ~3 minutes with the message "Waiting for players".
  • Quick Drops are invisible when chosen and cannot be placed.
  • Sometimes viewing the preview of players in the San Van List causes a black screen, and exiting out to game from this state will lead to a soft lock.
  • When entering a grind and leaning to exit, skater disappears (rare).
  • Criteria for unlocking the Historic neighborhood (Gullcrest Village) is not showing up, causing the mission to not appear.
  • Disabled the "Pad Hopper" Challenge due to a world prop making the Challenge harder than intended.

  • EA App - right click skate. tile - Check for Updates
  • Steam - right-click on the game in Steam library, select Properties, go to the Local Files tab, click Verify integrity of game files. This process checks your files and will start an update if one is available after the verification is complete.
  • PS/Xbox - should prompt an update when you launch the game.

With Skate-o-Ween live in-game, we wanted to turn attention back to the top issues in the game as a whole. The focus of this update is to address several of our most pressing crash / stability issues in addition to some key improvements. This is not an exhaustive list, nor is it everything the team is currently tracking. We'll continue to update everyone via The Weekly Grind (posted every Tuesday on Steam forums, EA Forums, Discord, and Reddit, as well as skatestatus) as we lock in more fixes and ETAs on fixes for trending issues.

We wanted to drop the Patch Notes and Known Issues for you to dive into before Update 0.28.5 goes live at 10AM PT on Oct 23, 2025 with fixes, improvements, tweaks, and changes.

Please note: In Update 0.28 a bug was introduced that resulted in incorrect values when granting Rip Chips and XP through Challenges.  With Update 0.28.5, this bug was fixed, which now has the intended grants.

City challenges (rotating):

  • Per goal: 50 rep / 5 Rip Chips
    • 0.28.0 had 35 rep / 20 Rip Chips
  • Co-op: 5 Rep / 20 Rip Chips
    • 0.28.0 had 10 rep / 10 Rip Chips

KNOWN ISSUES STILL BEING WORKED ON

We are also tracking the following Known Issues. This is not everything, and we'll keep you updated as more trending issues are tracked.

  • Stuck on Isle of Grom.
    • Fix: We pushed out a fix to stop the issue from occurring. However, this didn't retroactively fix those in this state and we're working to get the ferry running as soon as possible for those still stuck. If you're still stuck waiting on the ferry, post in this thread.
  • Unable to play skate. due to a "connection to EA Servers" error.
    • Troubleshooting: Ensure that VPN is disabled and check that the EA App is not in offline mode. For more troubleshooting help, refer to our Connectivity FAQ.
  • Invisible party members when joining a friend from another server.
    • Workaround (not 100%): When joining a friend from another server, players may sometimes be invisible. The workaround is to use the in-game teleport option via Social menu to teleport to them.
    • Fix: Team is currently investigating a full fix.
  • Achievements are not granted to the user.
    • Fix: **** We're looking for a solution and will keep you posted with our progress.
  • Criteria for unlocking the Market Mile neighborhood is not showing up, causing the "Manual Extension" mission to not appear.
    • Workaround: You can get to Market Mile by doing more Challenges. Get that XP!
    • Fix: We're working on a fix to be implemented as part of other various progression issues between 0.28 and 0.29.
  • The Replay Editor (consoles) often captures stuttering during export.
    • Fix: We're continuing to work on console Replay Editor issues.

KNOWN ISSUES FOR 0.28.5

  • skate.Pass & Tix Purchase: After the user purchases the Premium skate.Pass or Tix they may be returned to a blank skate.Pass menu with no redemption page, showing only the character.
    • Workaround: Players can temporarily regain access by switching tabs, then backing out from the gameplay menu.
    • Fix: We're working on a fix to be implemented in a future patch.

We are aware of the issue affecting tasks blocking you from completing week 1 of the Skate-o-Ween event.

We pushed a fix today allowing you to run any of the previously completed challenges again, "Witch's Brew", "Spider Bait", and "Heathen Flip", to complete the challenge goals and get all the week 1 rewards.

Additionally, we're disabling the "Basinator" Challenge due to the objective "Perform a single flip trick and 360 into the Fountain" not consistently tracking.

With today's Daily Tasks reset, we saw a completion bug pop up, impacting the Trick of the Day task requiring you to do a Spread Eagle 3 times.

Performing the trick Spread Eagle will now successfully count progress towards the Task for Trick of the Day - Spread Eagle and allow you to complete your Daily Tasks.

In Early Access, you’re not always going to see things working or set up as best they should. We want to be transparent with you. As players notice something, such as two pairs of pants that look too similar, we hear you and want to address it.

Based on your feedback, we’ve removed the Peach cargo pants from the Product Box, as they looked too similar to the Dickies pants. If you already claimed the Peach cargoes, don’t worry, you keep ‘em. Continue sharing your feedback so we can improve your gameplay experience.

To clarify, the peach cargo pants have been removed however we're replacing them with a different free pair of pants. We're still working on that and will let you know what that is soon.

Of our two Season 1 events, the 7-Ply Maple Harvest Event is a little shorter, but we can’t miss celebrating one of the historic events in San Van that showcases our love for San Van Maple—what we believe to be the best wood for building a skateboard. The Harvest got its start in the early 20th century, but it wasn’t until the 1970s that skaters discovered the perfect window for harvesting San Van Maple - every seven years. Sorta fits with the perfect amount of layers to make a skateboard.

Back in the day, geese and seagulls co-existed in harmony in San Van. But over time, those honking feathered tanks started throwing their weight around our city, steamrolling the gull’s scene. Now our city’s beloved mascot birds are almost wiped out, and we’ve got to stop it - and we need your help. If we don’t crank up the chaos, the geese will take every nesting spot in town, and the gulls will get bounced.

That’s why Spring Pop-Off rules. It’s our Springtime skaterized blowout—an excuse to raise the volume, shred every ledge in sight, firecracker every stair set we can roll into, and torch the sky with whatever fireworks stash the SVCC digs up.
