Considering how early it is in development from what we've see so far, it makes sense that it would have a focus on game play and the city, considering, ya know, that's the foundation of what makes skate a skate game. If that's not nailed down properly, then a story wouldn't even matter

We’ve got a road ahead of us so there’s going to many opportunities.

We started small, and with each test we increase the amount of invites. Participants are chose based on criteria we’re looking for for each test.

The biggest thing: when you get invited, give good feedback. Like something, tell us why. Don’t like something, use your words and explain clearly. Find a bug or glitch, describe it as best you can with details.

It’s not just about “playing early”, but about the feedback to make the game better.

It's interesting you think that. It's not based on how development and platform optimization works, but that's okay.

Not sure why we'd build up a server over a year ago, before we showed anything, and regularly have meetings with players, have scheduled playtests, listen to/read the feedback in the community as we want to bring the community along for the ride of development.

And more importantly, we want everyone to be able to play the game. By appealing to as many platforms as possible, adding cross progression and cross play, and making it free to play, we remove almost every potential barrier that could prevent folks from playing.

Also - with BF4, it released in the midst of a console generational shift. From Xbox 360 to Xbox One.
Core gameplay was the same, but due to the limitations of the 360 over the One, server size was reduced, etc. You don't have to bring the newest generation down.
