I don't know if it the right place to talk about that but Is there any plan for sinking system for ingot and essence? I mean when everyone will have their equipment, drone upgrade, suit and weapon. No one will buy or care about those. Maybe drone upgrade will still sell if people want to craft the very best but…
I know that essence is need for curing gem but I’m not sure it will burn enough compared to all the people gathering them.
If it not a sinking system, what is the plan so those item don’t become useless?

so many bugs and alot of unexpected behaviors here, I guess you interrupt the game by a third party soft?

Allocating new memory space in the context of the game memory. Then overwriting some calls with a jump instruction to my newly allocated space where I put my code. Then jumping back.
All scripts are written in Assembler.

There are certain places where the game updates assets positions. That for example is a good place to jump out and then get all assets and their positions in the game. But there is a lot of stuff being updated all the time. Just your character is like 20 assets maybe. All the armor pieces etc. But there is a main asset where if you move it the other parts follow.

Also I think some assets are hitboxes and not even visual stuff. Not quite good at game hacking. Was a first for me. Needed to know how it holds up. Since I am an investor.

Working with functions is better since the code is more difficult to change up. Sure the offsets change within the binary but the functions themselves remain unchanged. Even if you constantly swap around variables. Delete and make new variables all the time. The functions that updates the variables remain the same. So it made sense for me to hijack the functions and ignore the variables .

Repeated checksum on the executable memory space is a good start.

Of course passive reading of memory is nearly impossible to detect. Especially if you are using a DMA device. One way I was thinking was to encrypt assets in memory and their data until fog of war reveals them. Meaning when you are close enough to see them you find out what the asset is. So when the game is near a coordinate it gets the key from the server to reveal the asset data. The game only knows the coordinates of the asset. But not what it is. And the game has a function that monitors player movement speed. Position over time. This function is checsummed for integrity.
Cause the first though would be otherwise just to tell the server that we are next to the asset even though we are not. But the speed check function would then say it is impossible to be at X when you were at Y just a while ago. Too fast movement. And since the that function is checked for integrity it cannot be hijacked.

But I don't know. Not a game developer. Maybe cleaner solutions.

Lot of this stuff is fast action. Needs to be handled in memory without server interaction. Otherwise it is to slow.

Like can't talk to the server for each bullet

To be honest. The time I spent breaking the game was way more fun than the actual playing. But that is just me. I'm not so much into games. But I would love to work more with breaking games if I was getting paid for my time.

I never said 'better'. Just as pure gut emotion, it looked super fun hahaha. For Combat I always imagined using ethereals. Eg u find a Gnarl and then when you start the fight a portal opens up and 5-8 ethereal illuvials pop out. U send out a few of your own illuvials and all hell breaks lose.

My favourite moments in Palworld was always when you are taking on 5-10 pals at once. Legends Arceus, the same thing.

I actually imagine a 1v1 against an Illuvial being incredibly boring. Think about it, an Illuvial really has maybe 1 auto attack and an omega, dodging 1 omega at a time is brain dead. Dodging 2-3 from different illuvials is insanely exciting.

Bosses would be really awesome. But that's A LOT of AI Behaviours, movesets and so on for over 200 characters, its a tall ask for something I feel needs to be quick.

But I can easily see a hybrid, Tier 4 and 5 Stage 3's are Monster Hunter Boss type stuff. And everything else is more palworld pack enemy

Well there are definitely workarounds. Pokemon has done it for 2 generations straight now with dynamax and then terrastral raids.

There is a diamond in the rough here somewhere where an Atlas final boss becomes both hilarious and fun

I want something darker and more sinister lurking in the shadows on illuvium. A genuine threat that's yet to be discovered. Perhaps a disease or some sort of corruption that's slowly devouring the planet.

I want that feeling I had playing Halo as a young lad when the Flood came at me out of nowhere and I struggled to fight them off.

Not sure how such an idea would fit in with the lore but it would be cool to have something on this planet the Rangers genuinely feared. Stories of Rangers going out into the Overworld and never coming back 😱. Increasing reports of hordes of unknown monsters ambushing Rangers as they explore. And sightings of creatures so large it would take multiple Ragers to take them down.

No you could drop straight in and 1v8 a boss. I used to do it in FF14 with no issue. It's over quickly though (30mins or so) and I wouldn't call those battles raids. They're just boss fights.

Raids take significantly longer and tend to have stat checks throughout to ensure the group can handle the boss when they get there.

I don't think it's Bad you can do that in 30 min. If there are multiple different you can do a week/Day.

Both can have a team of players. I'm my mind the closest example to what illuvium raids would be like is Destiny

Destiny raids can take hours to complete and are incredibly challenging. Puzzle's to solve, treacherous environments to navigate and multiple boss fights all leading up to a grand finale. Raids are not for casuals, you need to plan and know what you're doing to stand any chance of succeeding. Raids are end game content though so it's supposed to be hard

Since we can only buy Stage 1 on the Gauntlet Shop, how will the Status of Stages 2 and 3 Illuvials work?

Destiny for the longest time has had their Trials of Osiris PvP event being on the weekend only. It was extremely popular for years. This helps create plenty more people playing. Leviathan Gauntlet/Arena could have a weekend playlist with unique rewards to attract even more people.

No one is paying for an OW run to level. They are paying to mine, harvest, or catch illuvials, while leveling is just a side feature. If a player doesn't want to ever enter the OW and just buy their assets to play Arena, we should offer a comparative leveling experience for them.

Levels are an important part of Stage 2 and 3 runs. I always try to max my xp gains as it translates directly into more powerful and more valuable illuvials. I often do quick T0 runs to collect free ringnuts to heal my illuvials and fight lots of fights on a stage 3 run. If I do this, I can usually level 3 Stage 1 illuvials enough to fuse them straight into a Stage 3….

We already have stat reroll. It's called going back out into the OW and finding another illuvial with better stats 🤷‍♂️.

Allowing burning of illuvials to reroll stat on an Illuvial you already own creates problems. Firstly it shows a lack of faith in the success of illuvium. Sure rn the playerbase is small and so it feels like there's no demand for poor stat illuvials. But if we believe that one day illuvium could have 1M+ players how are these future players supposed to get there hands on set 1 Illuvials if we burn them all now. Burning is short term thinking that'll only hurt illuviums success in the long term. We have fusing for burning and we should be extremely careful about adding more ways to burn imo. Secondly adding reroll is a very effective way of alienating our current whales. Some players have already spent a small fortune finding/fusing near perfect illuvials and leveling them to 60. If we undermine their effort by allowing rerolls now there's a possibility of these players just up and leave and I wouldn't blame them. Near perfect illuvials are rare and should stay rare. Burning for rerolls is not the W people believe it is imo. All where doing is swapping one problem with another even worse issue waiting for us further down the line.

I don't know the answer here, but it is the only question important to me. Digital assets can be morphed into anything we want, we could even add a 60% or 70% stat later on.

We should be prepared to all sorts of ways for the DAO to dangle new "carrots" in front of the player base.

As long as this is done in a fair way, I am personally fine with it.

I don't think Burning in itself is the Problem with Stat Re roll, The Stat Re-Roll is the problem, No one would be in favor of a "Dark Holo" Re roll where you could burn 10 Holos to make it a Dark holo and thats much less game impacting. We can conceptually separate paid for stats and gaming skill stats from each other.

Basically the leaderboard you want to participate in dictates what stats are relevant. This gives utility to all kinds of Illuvials and does not alienate „real“ gamers, who would otherwise object to any pay to win mechanism. They don‘t really have to look at the P2W stats and just focus on levelling their Illuvials up and increasing the skill based stats through good game play.

In Leviathan both stat classes matter and competitive players might have to rely on other gamers to increase the gaming skill stats (if they don‘t have the time to play between tournaments).

This gives gamers another role in our economy and a chance to make a bit of money from whales.

While Ranger in Gauntlet is cool (I've been the one pushing it), it isn't completely necessary. So the extra gameplay elements come last. We've gotta get out the cosmetics because we really owe people a lot of stuff. Trying to sort out that, and then working on the Ranger stuff.

FYI the Ranger is implemented everywhere except on our backend, and that's actually been done this week it just needs to go through testing. So it will be soon. So you'll get a balance patch, then the first big content update, and then the ranger update.

After that it's the new item forge for Arena, plus Drone Augments and Regions. Those will all go out one by one so we can see how you guys like them.

Feedback doesn't really work here I'm afraid. Feedback would more come in the form of 'here is what U can do next'. Which the team is already on top of!

Now there's always great feedback to give, but even I provided feedback during the meeting and they had basically tried everything I said and came to the best outcome. That's just kinda how iterative game design works.

I think Rogier has the right plan. Put the stuff into a cool video or marketing material. It's better served that way at this stage

Sometimes it's easy to forget that there is 100+ internal members that all give feedback on a daily basis. This sort of stuff never gets released without feedback

Something I’ve learned recently is being a player doesn’t necessarily mean a player has a deep understanding of game design. They probably have great ideas but will sometimes overlook some obvious game design flaws.

Using your dodge example, cool let’s add a dodge. But what do we do with cooldown etc? That’s just one aspect of adding a dodge and the question is how does that affect player decision making and player feeling

Oh without a doubt. It's very easy for me as a player to say "just do this or that" without understanding the difficulty or work involved. That said, our feedback has value. Though we may not fully appreciate what goes into development and it's limitations. We must ultimately enjoy the experience. After all, we are the target audience and if we aren't happy the game will struggle with retention.
