It's all built in stages. The first playable stage is Private Beta 1 which will be the Survival mode. Only for a few players but growing to a decently large number as time goes on. Private beta 2 is overworld. Public Beta is where anyone can join and things are 'live'. We're aiming to get that out in Q1 - 2022. But remember that is still a Beta and things will change a whole heap. The game will be out of beta just before the end of set 1 where we have a big tournament. When will that be? Nobody knows. To get to the final polish with all the features we want is just going to take what it takes.

I'm loving how the water Illuvials are all crustaceans.

So I know the game will have rock-paper-scissors elements, like Fire beats Ice, Water beats fire, etc, so then would it make more sense to have your crew mixed element wise? maybe one fire, one water, one earth, etc? or specialize in one element?

I think it depends on who your opponents are if you know. If you are going up against all fire, then you probably want a lot of water type. But if you don’t know going in, it probably makes sense to have a variety.

I think you want to have a large variety of Illuvials just caught so you can have a lot of options for your team. So have a few of each type ideally

I'm not certain, but I think there will be situations where you can see the opponents elements, then others where you can't depending on in game factors. so you'd have to adjust your squad depending on the intel.

Hope they focus on strategy and rewarding you for good strategy.

There are synergies that youd want to prioritize which plays a role in your over all strategy

You have limited space, so it's a question of saturation. Against an unknown field, you probably want to have a collection of the most effective answers, i.e. the first Water type against a Fire type greatly improves your strength compared to having none, the second and third might help, but probably less of a difference, and the fourth and fifth are only marginally gonna improve what you are doing. This means that you want effective answers against most types, I'd imagine, to give you the greatest chance of not being caught with your pants down.

But what it sounds like is.. since you will inevitably go up against all elements, it makes sense to collect a variety of different elements in your squad, so you always have a decent crew to pit against.

so basically, generalizing is better than specializing as far as your collection goes.

Of course, once certain metas get established, you can skew your deck to one end or the other.

I actually theorized about there being three different kind of decks; First, synergistic decks which rely heavily on synergy to win battles, i.e. create the hyper-omega 'make it rain' move. Second, Midrange decks, which are a jack-of-all-trades kinda deck and third, decks which are specifically geared towards hating out what your opponent is trying to do. I feel like the synergistic deck will beat midrange decks, because they go over the top in terms off what they can accomplish with their power. Midrange decks are favoured against hate decks, because it will be hard to target any specific one thing to hate on and finally hate decks will beat synergistic decks, because they can hate on their primary synergy

Well, if your opponent is trying to create a hyper-omega make it rain move, if you have specific fire type Luvi's which destroy the synergy, or aren't hurt by it, your opponent is left with an offensive gameplan in crumbles, that's what I would term 'hate'

hate mostly comes from playing Magic, where hate decks are decks which try to delimit what your opponent is allowed to do

Idk about that Imo: Synergistic decks will be very sad when they encounter 3 enemies of a negative element. I imagine the founders to make it so that the make it rain synergy would be really bad when the enemy notices that in time and places 3-4 grass units. Aaron stressed that overall Metas would not work because they would always be counterable. The Hate deck would be your only actual option at consistently winning to my knowledge.

Of course there are always going to be gradations of these three categories, but the idea is that 'hate' decks focus more than other decks on countering the opponents gameplan. If you are a 'synergistic' deck, you probably can only afford to have 1 or 2 gameplans you can deploy, because so much space in your deck is geared towards realizing those gameplans. Midrange decks in turn are more versatile so while they are less effective at countering your opponents gameplan, they are also harder to target themselves. In any draft you are going to try to counter your opponent most likely, but the difference is how much you are worried about your opponent vs. how much you are trying to establish your own gameplan

Definitely, hopefully the gameplay trailer will reveal that. I think because they are aiming for maximum depth, it would make more sense to show your opponents deck beforehand, but then again this would limit the amount of mind-games you could play, so I guess it's an interesting balancing act. I remember picking up once that the Hero items are secret but the Illuvials in a deck are not, but not sure if that is still the case.

I think some info about the opponents deck is important though, in order to map your strategy at first. Otherwise you are really going into it blindly

Can't see your oppo deck list except at the absolute pinnacle of pro play. Which in big part was to counteract the scouting efficiency big teams had but small town heroes couldn't access, and in second part to stop cheating. Neither will be concerns here.

The thing is though, in magic you can often tell by first land alone, or certainly after 2 plays, what sort of deck your opponent is playing, I am not sure the same can be said for Illuvium. From knowing what deck your opponent is playing, there can still be a few surprises and variations, but on higher level of competitive play it is usually clear. The hidden enchantments or gears for your hero could substitute the small variations in any one deck which remain hidden

Also, from what I remember, types only grant 15% bonus damage against types they are strong against, while important, I think there will be a lot more factors which will come into play when drafting a team. For instance, establishing a good frontline and backline might be more important most of the time. Or having good focus-fire so you can snowball a fight.

Council Members engage with the team in discussions to provide feedback/insight/suggestions on particular topics, they evaluate the status quo trying to come up with proposals of their own to improve the DAO and they vote on all IIPs/ICCPs which basically means shouldering the responsibility to try and make the right decision for the long-term success of this DAO.

This is also why I keep advocating for the fact that council members - aside from a certain experience/skill set - need to be hyper engaged with the Illuvium ecosystem because we otherwise risk a situation where people make crucial decisions based on very limited insight, leaving high chances for making the wrong decision that causes disastrous ripple effects throughout the entire ecosystem. Especially when Council work will start to involve a lot more proposals related to game balancing.

sILV is a substitute currency that can only be gained as yield when staking ILV. In game, it can be used to pay for any fee (excluding IlluviDEX trades and Leviathan Arena wagers) that otherwise would be paid for with the main currency ETH. The value of sILV in the game - and for possible sales where sILV is allowed - will be equal to the value of ILV.

While claimed staking rewards in the form of ILV are locked for 12 months, sILV offers the opportunity to liquidate your staking rewards immediately. The tradeoff for that is that sILV only can be used in-game and does not provide compounding in any form.

BUT, while the game will be free to play, in order to participate in the earning part of the economy, a bit of money needs to be invested. A full cycle of travelling, curing shards, etc. is currently estimated to be around $50 (this can still change).

This means that any kind of revenue generated through sales or in-game revenue is distributed back to holders of staked ILV. The same max supply of 10 Million ILV will be used for this purpose regardless of how many games the DAO develops.

Revenue distribution is paid out in the form of unlocked ILV and the payout is done multiple times a week without a fixed schedule. Before paying out revenue distribution, the vault converts ETH spent in-game into ILV by buying it off the market which puts buying pressure on the ILV token and thus supports its price development.

Its genius because it will do three positive things for the ILV token.
1: it will have the majority of the ILV token staked. Since your weight increases if you timelock it, many will timelock and remove a big portion of the ILV from the market.
2: since Revdiv is paid out in ETH, you wont create selling pressure on the ILV token by people taking profits.
3: The revenue distribution per token creates a clear APY for holders and will give it a bottom price in a sense. Depending on what the market will think is a good APY, that price will be the price bottom for ILV. Any dips will be bought up!

You don't need to invest anything to play.

If you do want to invest in their staking platform: The SLP pool is really good, but because of gas fees, it's not really worth your time unless you have atleast a couple of thousand (debatable - I'm sure the staking channel would answer that). The ILV pool requires less gas fees because you only need to claim once when claiming rewards. You need to claim twice with the SLP pool
