Free to play is only in tier 0 region where you get to experience the game but only limited to Low value illuvials, and in order to proceed to the next region you would have to spent ETH to travel and capture stronger, more valuable illuvials. Staking is not needed for gameplay but spending some money is needed to access new regions but in return you’d be able to capture and sell more valuable stuff

I was under the impression that you could not only play for free, but in theory, you could play long enough in the tier 0 area to gain enough experience/items, that you could advance without ingame currency. If thats not that the case then I will forsure be trading some eth for IVL and staking it pre launch

There is no official statistics on the pricing of proceeding to the next region, hence no one can say for sure if anyone is able to play the whole game totally for free by grinding hard

Note that in game transactions will be primarily in ETH, and you don't need ILV to play, even if you are paying.

There's an option to claim your rewards as sILV instead of ILV. sILV is usable on non-player to player transactions (i.e. travel, shard curing etc.)

Which isn't to say "Don't invest in ILV", just that you can buy anything in game with ETH, and you don't have to buy ILV to play 😉

ETH is the primary currency of Illuvium, and can be used for literally everything, including player to player transactions (such as buying Illuvials off other players).

All in-game transactions will be through IMX. You could (I believe) take your Illuvials and other in-game NFTs OFF IMX and, for example, list them on Opensea, which would mean you're paying gas since you've left the IMX ecosystem.

Correct. You could try to go to T1+ right away but you will not stand a chance when encountering something. You could of course always buy some T0 stuff from others on the marketplace but that won't happen right at launch either. First, someone needs to even find some T0 and level them a bit to make them strong enough for T1+ 🙂

Rewards from staking have to be manually claimed and GAS fees for those transactions have to be paid:

• When you stake ILV yield farming rewards start piling up for you
• You claim those rewards whenever you deem the pile to be big enough to justify gas fees
• If you claim sILV you have it unlocked right away (sILV is only usable in game as a substitute currency for ETH outside the marketplace and the Leviathan Arena)
• If you claim ILV then that batch of ILV gets locked for 12 months and automatically staked in the ILV pool with a token weight of 2.0 for compounding effect
• New rewards start piling up....rinse and repeat

NB: ILV paid out as part of Illuvium’s Revenue Distribution have to be claimed as well but are not subject to a locking period.

Just be aware though that EVERY revenue (yes, also from multiple games to which the team is already committed) is distributed back to the same stake holders. There won't be any new ILV tokens with new games. The max 10M now (fully unlocked in about four years) is all there is. So if this DAO is successful, every staked ILV will only get more and more RevDis over time.
