Genesis means Set 1 and while someone who can pay for more travels every day obviously has more chances to catch things, the game in general is F2P to begin with and only comes with reasonable fees to enter the play2earn parts of the game where everyone who is in early enough (before Set 1 retires) can start catching some of those genesis Illuvials 🙂

Shards have a chance, no guarantee. T0 Shards can only capture T0. For T1+ you need T1+ shards.

T1+ it costs something but the final price has not been disclosed. It's included though in the rough estimation for a full travel cycle of $50 at this point in time 🙂
