This is a game studio, similar to a web-2 game studio, but with the addition of full ownership of in-game assets and increased community participation through its DAO structure. So, i would suggest looking into other projects if you want to particularly "make money".

Some communitymembers are renting out their land NFTs to others during this first Alpha season so that the lands can get the first 15 blueprints that provide a leg-up compared to the competition.

Will overworld ever be an mmo where we can play with friends?

Some type of multiplayer is on the horizon. But not anytime soon.
Features that the community has been begging for are:
Sanctum mesa, or the first area you spawn into, will become a hub where you would see and chat with other players.
You would be able to have an Illuvial run around with you so that you can brag about it to your friends.

The team has shared that they want to at some point make the overworld experience similar to DokeV or Monster hunter, where you fight the Illuvials in the Illuvium overworld. Monster hunter ánd DokeV have multiplayer features, so we can expect that to be the final version that the team is building towards.

For the initial Open Beta version, this is nót planned. It will likely take a year, or probably multiple, to add to the Open-Beta version we release with.

Do you mean Wave 2 of Illuvitars? That is just the next group of Illuvitars to be released after the first group from wave 1 was released. They aren't part of the actual game; they are just collectible profile pictures that can be used in the games only as an avatar. They don't have significant interactions with the games, except for some potential random burning mechanisms that are not yet finalized.

I think this would be the addition that would take Illuvium to the masses. My kids play Valorant, COD, Apex, Fortnite... all multiplayer and with skills to hone and rank up in the game. It's all about the grind to Ascendant or whatever... while talking with friends on discord and working out strategies. The social element is crucial, incorporating skill building.

Would be sick if there were an Illuvium multiplayer game mode in the future where a team of 4 or 6 go against another team in a race to eliminate each other while also having to deal with attacking Illuvials... with a goal to reach a science lab with a random Illuvial spawn inside. The team that makes it to the center and eliminates the other team gets an encounter with a chance to catch that spawn. Or something like that... In other words, a game mode that incorporates teamwork, strategy and a random rng reward that could be amazing.

The Illuvium: Overworld FAQ provides answers to some common questions that new players may have about the game. It can help players understand how to play the game more effectively and avoid common pitfalls.

1) How do I get more shards?
Harvest ore deposits for a chance to get uncured shards. Then, go back to Sanctum Mesa, where you can cure shards at the Forge. Finally, withdraw the shards from your locker to your inventory.

2) How do I get components?
Use deconstruct at the Forge. If you want a weapon component, deconstruct a weapon. If you want an armor component, deconstruct an armor. The lowest level of each type can be constructed without needing a component.

3) My starting shards aren't working on T1+ Illuvials!
You can't use a T0 shard on T1+ Illuvials.

4) I finished a travel cycle and my stuff is gone! Where's all my stuff?
Everything you gather or capture in a travel cycle gets transferred to the locker storage automatically.

5) I cured shards at the Forge, but they aren't in my inventory, where did they go?
Crafted items gets transferred to the locker storage automatically, you need to move them to your inventory to be able to use them in travel cycles.

6) How do I remove an Illuvial from my deck?
Go to your locker storage and open it (press "E"), open inventory (press "I") and click on the Illuvial to transfer it into storage.

7) Illuvial Orbs (Wake) keep disappearing! Why is this?
Wake can disappear for 2 reasons. If you get too close to a Wake, it will despawn. If you miss your shot at a Wake, it will despawn. Be careful with your aim, you can jump and aim to make time move slower.
