Oh I been checking, but its a Nitrado/Curseforge issue.

Garuga put in an update for the Brachio and Archelon mods yesterday afternoon. This somehow glitched the mods and removed them from the mods list in Nitrado.

So, the mods are gone and booting up my maps will uninstall those mods. I realized this last night and shut them down before server resets to save the players dinos.

Its just a waiting game for them to fix the issue. Incredible that the flagship mods that were put out day one for players are suddenly gone from the exclusive host for the game and no one is acknowledging it.

They install and the server boots fine for me , which is i suspect what that command is used to fix , since it broke the official ones too an they have those working now

oh p.s, with the latest server version , cheat saveworld is no longer working

Im hearing it somehow got removed from crossplay BUT when I change my test map and remove crossplay, the mods still dont show up. So not even sure if thats the issue.

For the "RedownloadModsOnServerRestart" do I have to enter this IN the server command box as an admin in game? Or does it go into the gamee.ini files.

fyi: there is another mod for the map and it is called SurvivalOfTheFittest_TheIsland_WP

next time you restart the server after using it, the server will download any mods on it and reinstall them fresh

Do you know if this will wipe the mod data from the game or if it forces file validation and just a re-install overtop of what already exists, eg: wiping dinos/structures from mods?

i didnt got to far as to check if it it wipes the moduserdata folder ,
far as i can tell it just reinstalled a fresh download of the mod over the top of the old version installed on the server

depending on the issue it will, as its force reinstalling the mod fresh , i suspect the issue was someting to do with yesterdays update that got reverted , upsetting the files

It doesn't, also doesn't fix engram entries or skeletal mesh animation issues w/ custom dinos that worked prior to the update. Wish there was a way to roll back. Also, completely unstable now for me, I can only stay ingame w/o a D3D12 crash for about 1 minute.

Off to setup a server on Palworld until WC/SG can figure this our or until the mod authors get it fixed from their end, whichever happens first 😦

Hi… just got home from being out of town and it seems there have been some significant updates. My unofficial server doesn’t seem to want to update and is stuck at 33.78. I’ve ran the following command and it goes through the motions but when I start the server it’s still on 33.78

start steamcmd.exe +force_install_dir <directory shown in steam app> +login anonymous +app_update 2430930 validate

if you dont point this part to the directory ark server was installed it will just create a new folder and install server in
steamcmd/steamapps/common/ark

it caused me a few headaches to start as i was trying to point it at the actual arkascendedserver.exe, doesnt like that

Yea I had it pointed to the right folder for sure. Went into the steam app right clicked and went to properties and opened the install folder. Used that folder in my command line and it would update but when I started the server it was stuck. After a little while it gave me an option to update from the steam app but no idea what triggered it

yep , usually in the steamcmd/steamapps/common , unless you tell it to install elsewhere
i just muddles up stmcmd with steam app as thats what i call the actuall steam that you launch games from , as i have my test servers installed directly onto a seperate disk drive

I have a VM in ESXi running Win Server 2019 I think. E: drive is the install directory and I point the batch file for update to the folder you mentioned above. Do you just need to point it to common or specify the folder the install is actually in?

the actual folder its in i believe , so for me i do mine as ,
start D:\steamcmd\steamcmd.exe +force_install_dir e:\arkserver1 etc etc etc

as my steamcmd is on d drive yet the ark server is in the e drive
but same principals apply no matter where stored

Hey everyone. I have been running a private server for a bit, and now after the last update the server isn't showing up on the server list anymore. IS there a current issue with this at the moment?

It did download an update when i launched. but was 33.34

running that command will be installing an updating a new server , probably in c:\games\steamcmd\steamapps\common
you will likely see a folder in there called ark
thats what it defaults to if the filepath is wrong , atleast seemed to when i was testing

The RedownloadModsOnServerRestart command doesn't work on our server. I logged in as Admin, did Cheat RedownloadModsOnServerRestart and restarted the server but the mods still not working. What did i wrong?? Any help please!

I finally figured out why the Glass mod wasn't showing up on my server. It seems it is disabled by default for PVP. To enable it I had to add a CosmeticWhitelistOverride to a page .ini page, similar to the dynamic config, that contained the mod IDs from CurseForce in a csv.

yeah, if something starts breaking, look at what changed at that time. it might be a server update but most likely it’s a mod.

Hello does anyone get an issue on ps5 when you save your settings after changing them like harvest rate tame speed etc, and when u join it says day 1 create your character and you have to delete the app and redownload to fix?

Also I downloaded the custom Dino’s mod and have max difficulty on but my levels are so bad it’s like 20 or 30 for ryniognathas and I killed like 15, all the levels suck. I’m on console and can’t do INI settings so what do I do?

Some console players on my dedicated server have a problem, they are unable to see the contents of the inventory, chest, cryo or even their inventory.

However, players on these same platforms and Steam do not have this problem.

They have already tried to reinstall the mods and even the game.

My server version: 34.58
Steam 34.59
Xbox version: 34.54
Playstation version 34.54

Is this problem known to anyone?

Relog, suicide or bed hop to fix this typically. The other option is a bad game install. Otherwise I dont know.

The problem is who can't get to the bed... and he committed suicide and repaired.

Having seen it in stream it seems as if the in-game interface is bugged in relation to the server settings.

The strange thing is that this happened all at once.

This affects a Play Player and an Xbox player, but other players on the same console do not have the problem.

No, they are not from the same tribe. I tried to delete the arkprofile file attached to the player, he had to redo a character, it worked, and at one point it got bugged again

I ask because there are several mods there that mess with your inventory and could be clashing.

Hello, when i try to join my own dedicated server, i get into the loading screen but then it throws me back to the main menu with the error "Host connection timeout" with more text under it that says "lost/timedout connection to host". My dedicated server runs on my laptop and in my start command line i wrote the app_update line for automatic updates. But my server is still running on version 33.72

what i think is happening is, having it all in one line, the server is starting before the stm cmd can access it to update it
so by splitting the update up from the start for the actual server , it shud take effect and properly update the server

you can notice in my example , i removed listen and query port, asa doesnt use those , to specify a port you need -port=xxxx not ?port=xxxx , i also corrected the max players line as it now uses -winlivemaxplayers=xx instead of ?maxplayers=xx

if you any spaces in your session name , ie ?sessionname=will server , it wont work , you will have to wrap it in quotation marks so , ?sessionname="will server"

keep that as a batch file to use for updating your server ,
then have a seperate one for starting it, so you dont run into the same issue of it not updating in the future

No, I mean I was tracking dinos after the 34.58 server update. They turned it off for baby dinos but actually turned it off for all. But after the last update to 34.58, it was working for me this morning when I logged in

also be aware things already in the world wont just stack automatically after adding code to do it , you wud need to pull each stack into inventory and then put back into containers,benches etc

yep, its a fresh start. But after missing this many updates, I would just start over. Good chance that even if you did recover your saved game by some miracle, it will get corrupted trying to install all the updates you have missed.

Everytime I leave or they kick me from tribe the base goes back to myself and yes we check the tribe settings so that's not the issue. this is often an issue with mods after a major update, have you tried looking in the mod authors discords ? see if there working on updates/patches or fixes ?
it is one reason i dont use many mods atm , they will often break on updates an asa is early in its life and getting updated alot

Im told the fix for this is a save download, reinstall and then apply the save. But it is a game bug thats the issue. Someone listed the steps here a while back. Its a long one.

• In game, make a save. Cheat saveworld. Log off.

• Download and install Filezilla.

• Go to Nitrado Mods and write down your modids, and remember the order they are in.

• Stop your server.

• Connect to your server with Filezilla. You need 4 things for this: host, username, password, port. All 4 can be found in the FTP Credentials at the bottom of your Nitrado Dashboard. Copy and paste them, then hit QuickConnect.

• Once you connect in Filezilla, your PC is on the left and the server is on the right. On the left, navigate to the folder where you want to put your backup.

• Copy the entire arksa folder over to a location on your PC. You should clearly see this folder in the server view - should be the only one. Just drag and drop and let the files move.

• Once it's done copying over, disconnect from the FTP (9th icon - disconnect from current server), go to your Nitrado panel and click on the Re-install option on the left panel (2nd button from bottom). Confirm that yes you want to do this - it's ok, you have a backup of everything on your PC now.

• Once the server is completely reinstalled, start it, then bring it back down.

Steps for mod and settings setup, as well as reapplying the save prior to starting the map arent there. Kinda important. I dont know the steps or I'd list them. I thought I knew but my map wouldnt boot. So yeah, not sure anymore.

• Download all your mods in the same order you had them. If you still had Winter Wonderland installed and disabled, make sure you check that box again to disable when reinstalling your mods.

• Once all mods are downloaded, start and stop your server again.

• Connect to the server in FileZilla once again. If the program is still open, it's the 10th icon (reconnect to last server). Once connected, drag your arksa folder over on top of the server's version. Confirm the overwrite... there was an option to do this for all files in the queue, I selected this so I didn't have to confirm overwrite over and over again. Do what works for you, but make sure you confirm the file overwrite every time.

• Once you've copied your backup over the fresh install, in the Nitrado panel - General - Settings, go to Backup section and select the first option - current savegame. Now start your server.

• You should be able place modded structures once again, and all your stuff should be where you left it!

They dont show any mod activity unfortunately. You can only tell if the maps shows as "updating" when there is no version update. Then you know its updating a mod. Even then it needs to be a big update or big mod before it bothers to show that much.

Its all a guessing game sometimes.

The guy that made the autodoors mod had something that added all the mods to the server logs about a month ago, then the format changed.
I think it was added to the server logs during that time and I got them mixed up with his log entries.
Looks like those are supposed to be there now and they are copied from the shootergame log.

Right now everything is set to 100 (ex. 100 tuso tentacles = 1 gold, 100 megalodon teeth = 1 gold)

free mod and premium mod may be from same person and have almost same feature but its still 2 different mods with 2 different mod id:s in order to join server u need have same mod id:s on your clint side as on server, that why if u dont have premium mod as client when u press join server it wont download it until u pay. So that why players without premium mods cant join your Server to play.

Starting with things like buying my own station to host it from at home. What specs are we looking for assuming I want the lobby to fit 20ish people? With/without clusters?
As well what kind of server service would I look at instead if buying my own server rig would be too expensive for now.

i’d allow around 10GB of RAM for each map you want to host. pretty much any of the current Ryzen or Intel CPUs will do. i have a Ryzen 7 5700G in mine, but the CPU is pretty idle.

But then i just gotta get the server computer up with a decent ryzen then and a tb should be enough space wise if i plan to hos a few clusters/maps? Because i heard it was nightmarish numbers in the 128gig ram and 2tb space to host proper servers which in my eyes are servers for 20+ people vs the server one host for oneself and that one friend.

doesn’t have to be Ryzen, Intel with built in graphics will do too. i have 64GB RAM in mine but i’m thinking i might have 4-5 maps running at some point. Go for as much disk space as you can afford. you don’t need it to begin with but after a while you can fill it, especially if you keep backups.

yes. i don’t see DDR4 going away for a while. if you have 4 RAM slots, you can start with 2 populated. A Ryzen 5 or higher will be fine. you don’t need a good graphics card, only something to connect a monitor to really.

doesn’t need to be SSDs. once the server is running it’s in RAM. I have PCI-E 3.0 NVME drives but that’s just because it’s what i had spare. 500GB for the boot disk and the server is on a 2TB disk. but that’s overkill 🙂

i’m lucky, my ISP gives one as standard. i have 330Mbps down, 50Mbps up. it’s the up that’s important. you can look in the game to see what each connection needs - i think up to 80Kbps, so multiply that by 20 players to work out your upload requirements.

MaxPersonalTamedDinos=x is for tribe, there is no truly "personal" limit unless you're tribed solo. MaxTamedDinos=x is for whole server. Both go in GUS.ini

There is the limit on tribe dinos as well.

Not sure how though unless its just poor wording. Since by game logic no one person "owns" anything, its all tribe property. There's info recorded on who imprinted/tamed it but there's still no true ownership applied since anyone can just throw out that cryopod and it belongs to them then.

Can anyone help us with our server issues? The machine we host our server on crashed last night and since it came back online, our ark server crashes on start-up every time. We have a test server that we tried to start and that worked fine, but as soon as we transferred over our saves, the same thing started happening to the test server. Do we think this is fixable or are all our saves corrupt?

(I get a crash report automatically copied that I can provide if needed, I just don't know what it all means)

.arkprofile and .arktribe and there respective backups , (theese are player and tribe data )

theisland_wp.ark (this is the current world save the server will boot from )

theisland_wp_11.02.2024_21,50,ark etc (theese are all the backups with date and time stamps)

Theisland_wp.anticorruption.bak (this is the current save anti corruption backup)

Get the test server to boot an run clean , then stop it an just move the world save back in,
if it boots all good move on to moving player an tribe data back in there respective pairs one at a time, till you find the one causing issue .
sometimes you can tell by file size if its one of the tribe or player profiles corrupted as it will be a lot larger than the others .

if the world save doesnt load , try removing it , rename anti corrupt backup , then move that in an test

Okay...sorry to keep bothering you with this...but I did what you said and found that it was the .arktribe file that was causing the issue. So, I removed it, found the .tribebak file, moved that over and renamed it as .arktribe...the server boots, but it is still asking me to create a new character...should I not have renamed the tribe backup?

GUS.ini has the setting servergamelog=true - with that set you can look at your server logs at any point in time, you dont have to stop the map.

Its also a setting in Nitrado in General settings, under the Admin Log section.

The actual commands are mixed in with server activity in the Shootgame.log file. This is under the Log Files section in Nitrado.

Note that it may take about 20 minutes for the log to update, so if something just happened it may take a bit to make it into the log files.

Nope. On ASA you can put in under GUS INI and it forces a tribe when players join and if they are kicked out or leave a tribe

If you have a pc, you can dl Ark Beacon app, set it up for ASA, go to the breeding section and play with the settings until they are good for you. It adjust everything you input to show how fast and how much imprint you will get etc for every creature. you can then put these into your server ini if you have a server or manually put these settings in your single player game setup options

just looked at sp settings and you cant increase Imprint Amount Multiplier without editing an ini file for some daft reason

personally hoping they dont use filepaths for transfer, the process state should remain within the .ark files in my opinion, because as soon as you move data outside of it to another file or path, the integrity of the data goes pear shaped when the game saves back to the .ark file
You end up with exploits and duping and all sorts of issues

unless the process commits the transferred data to the save world file and writes it to disk as soon as uploads happen to ensure the integrity is there

I haven't tried it myself, so I can't confirm yet, but others have said it's similar to any paid DLC in the past. To use the DLC, you and other players must first purchase it. Think back to the og maps in ASE; to play scorched, all players had to purchase the dlc. The system is the same for paid mods.

You can use all of the older events on Ark Survival Evolved, some event items may not be available.
No, consoles are not able to transfer files, however you can upload your items and dinos to the obelisks and download them to single-player.

I wouldn’t be in a rush for them. There will be issues, and not minor ones. Im not looking forward to deleted characters, pods and items. Or players being removed from tribes repeatedly. There is a ton of issues with transfers right now. They aren’t a pain we should be wishing for tbh. The longer they wait to release them to us, the more stable they will hopefully be.

In game, make a save. Cheat saveworld. Log off.

Download and install Filezilla.

Go to Nitrado Mods and write down your modids, and remember the order they are in.

Stop your server.

Connect to your server with Filezilla. You need 4 things for this: host, username, password, port. All 4 can be found in the FTP Credentials at the bottom of your Nitrado Dashboard. Copy and paste them, then hit QuickConnect.

Once you connect in Filezilla, your PC is on the left and the server is on the right. On the left, navigate to the folder where you want to put your backup.

Copy the entire arksa folder over to a location on your PC. You should clearly see this folder in the server view - should be the only one. Just drag and drop and let the files move.

Once it's done copying over, disconnect from the FTP (9th icon - disconnect from current server), go to your Nitrado panel and click on the Re-install option on the left panel (2nd button from bottom). Confirm that yes you want to do this - it's ok, you have a backup of everything on your PC now.

Once the server is completely reinstalled, start it, then bring it back down.
Download all your mods in the same order you had them. If you still had Winter Wonderland installed and disabled, make sure you check that box again to disable when reinstalling your mods.

Once all mods are downloaded, start and stop your server again.

Connect to the server in FileZilla once again. If the program is still open, it's the 10th icon (reconnect to last server). Once connected, drag your arksa folder over on top of the server's version. Confirm the overwrite... there was an option to do this for all files in the queue, I selected this so I didn't have to confirm overwrite over and over again. Do what works for you, but make sure you confirm the file overwrite every time.

Once you've copied your backup over the fresh install, in the Nitrado panel - General - Settings, go to Backup section and select the first option - current savegame. Now start your server.

You should be able place modded structures once again, and all your stuff should be where you left it!

I dont have any structure mods to go bad, so nope. But this is what literally everyone is using and has used to fix the issue.

You may want to check that the place on your pc has the space for the files or that you have permission to write files there. Thats the only thing I can think of offhand what would stop that. Unless you are on wireless with a bad connection maybe. Idk.

check and see if your save files moved over properly or if you now have the option to restore from a backup in nitrado

i followed the steps that was given in here

In game, make a save. Cheat saveworld. Log off.

Download and install Filezilla.

Go to Nitrado Mods and write down your modids, and remember the order they are in.

Stop your server.

Connect to your server with Filezilla. You need 4 things for this: host, username, password, port. All 4 can be found in the FTP Credentials at the bottom of your Nitrado Dashboard. Copy and paste them, then hit QuickConnect.

Once you connect in Filezilla, your PC is on the left and the server is on the right. On the left, navigate to the folder where you want to put your backup.

Copy the entire arksa folder over to a location on your PC. You should clearly see this folder in the server view - should be the only one. Just drag and drop and let the files move.

Once it's done copying over, disconnect from the FTP (9th icon - disconnect from current server), go to your Nitrado panel and click on the Re-install option on the left panel (2nd button from bottom). Confirm that yes you want to do this - it's ok, you have a backup of everything on your PC now.

Once the server is completely reinstalled, start it, then bring it back down.

Download all your mods in the same order you had them. If you still had Winter Wonderland installed and disabled, make sure you check that box again to disable when reinstalling your mods.

Once all mods are downloaded, start and stop your server again.

Connect to the server in FileZilla once again. If the program is still open, it's the 10th icon (reconnect to last server). Once connected, drag your arksa folder over on top of the server's version. Confirm the overwrite... there was an option to do this for all files in the queue, I selected this so I didn't have to confirm overwrite over and over again. Do what works for you, but make sure you confirm the file overwrite every time.

Once you've copied your backup over the fresh install, in the Nitrado panel - General - Settings, go to Backup section and select the first option - current savegame. Now start your server.

You should be able place modded structures once again, and all your stuff should be where you left it!

I would restart the process from the reinstall point - reinstall the map and let it sit a good 30 minutes... then continue.

if u have the backup files saved an there good, you can always reload them , even like a year later , but that does sometimes have other issues lol but besides the point, ive always got them to work

Cuz if you interrupted the installation process, nothing you do right now will fix it. Thats one thing I learned with Nitrado. Do not interrupt it lol.

Ok so I’m having a problem I have a buddy set as admin and whitelist but every time he puts admin password in it doesn’t work the password is all lower case any ideas on how to fix it ?

Another thought... the last update makes the game lag like an absolute BISH.

Make sure he it entering the password, then counting to 10... then trying cheat fly or cheat gcm.

No joke, I get little lag spikes and it takes a minute to get them to work right now.

Like no joke I lag terribly right now and last week I had little to no lag issues. It might literally be a perf issue he is running into.

If its PS, you usually have to reinstall the game to fix that. Try reinstalling and see if that clears up the space.

And i have reinstalled the game 4 times, deleted cache(reserved saved data) which deletes all mods each time. and same same

you can try delete mods in game , then power off console, unplug it, wait 5 mins, hold power button 10 secs. let go , plug in restart an see if it downloads
shud clear the cache an let it work

Restarting the console inbetween readding the mods helps to clean it up.

Unfortunately on console the only way to delete mod updates is to delete game the mods get deleted but the updates don’t

btw deleting them one at a time verses using the "remove all" button clears up the space correctly. If you are using the remove all mods button then it may be lying to you.

If you are manually updating your mods before you join a server, stop doing that.

Let the mods auto update when they join the map. The map mod version is likely different.

If its making you do it each time, day after day, you have a bad mod installation on your map.

Remove the mod, save and readd it. That will make it reinstall and hopefully fix the issue.

Ok, so that really does sound like its an issue with the mod installation server side OR its simple a bad mod.

You are sure you removed the mod, saved and then readded the mod server side? Cuz if so, you might be using a bad mod.
