It's pretty simple. Continue breeding the mutated dino with a BUNCH of females, and only raise male baby dinos that have a higher mutation in the stat your looking for compared to the father

I'm not sure how far into it you are, but I would recommend getting around 90-110 females to breed with the male, and craft yourself 13 incubators

Yep. Until we get sliders which adjust the mutation chance of stats, that's the way it has to be.

From my understanding it's a 7% chance to mutate a stat, so the chances of each mutated stat being worthwhile is even lower.

I still can't believe 'mutation chance' is a hard coded value. It genuinely pisses me off. We need more sandbox options. I have 122 gigas in a massive rectangle, and my frame rate tanks every time.

I had some dinosaur ideas i'm gonna post here because reddit banned me for two days because i was arguing with a person that didn't believe in dinosaurs in DMs and got reported

Euoplocephalus
It would've been like a reverse anky, being more battle focused then a harvester. It's saddle would've been unlocked at level 53 and would come with armor for it. The euoplocephalus would be a standard knockout tame but with a gimmick. Since the euoplo would've taken 75% less torp from attacks on it's back and head you would've needed something like a triceratops to flip it over, since on it's belly it takes 20% more torp. In the wild the euoplo would be a neutral threat and if hitting an opponent. For example; a tamed rex. The euoplo will leave the rex limping for 2 minutes, cutting it's movement in half by 50% and making it unable to sprint.

Pentaceratops.
Pentaceratops would sorta be an update to the trike, it's saddle unlocked at level 22 and a knockout tame. Pentaceratops would move faster than the trike and have a charge attack that could Impale smaller opponents and other players for 5 seconds before throwing them away.

Crylophosaurus.
They crylophosaurus would be a battle tame found in snowy/tundra areas. It's saddle is unlocked at level 31 and is a passive tame, needing to be fed raw or prime raw meat when sleeping. When tamed the crylo would be pretty agile and could stun it's opponents by slapping with it's tail for a heavy attack, the stun lasts for 5 seconds. If it's rider/the one who tamed it is killed, the crylo will pick up the items and return it to it's owner (it must be in within 500 meters)

The reason why an argy drops an anky/doed during farming sessions is because the anky/doed is being detected as "in mesh". I know this because the system is far less aggressive when the anky/does is unridden.

Also when you grab a player and fly close to the ground, they get anti-mesh teleported back, an unridden dino will not.

So it clearly is related.

Well Pete the Pelogornis can actually be extremely useful. In ways, it can be more useful than a Ptero because it can get you lots of organic poly, great for landing on the water. Can hover in the air so yeah, I dont think its useless.

Unless we find a different way to do it, an admin will take over the veilwyn for people then disable transfers, then give them back when people are on the map. Haven't put much thought into it other than that, but we have a small server so it's not gonna be an issue to do it that way for us at least

Yes if your tame is successful. If you don't succeed you lose the essense. I always tame with a spare essense then keep the essence of the dino you wanted to reanimate in the oasisaur until the timer has ran out. Oasisaur extends the life of essence to 3 days iirc

I know I'm screaming into the void, but I have to make the case for a buff for the Elderclaw.

I've been breeding bears since ASA released and playing on the island. When the Elderclaw was released my first impression was that it was an upgrade. They have similar movement modes and attacks and the Elderclaw has double the HP of a dire bear. All those cool abilities seemed really neat, too.

But it's current implementation is very poor. I have seen virtually no dialogue about it and my read is that people tried it then abandoned it quickly as frankly, a more finicky yuti.

At a drag weight of 550, this thing should be able to join other tames in boss fighting. However, even as a support tame, its damage is so anemic that it is better to bring another rex. The attack values of the Elderclaw are 30 (when moving), 35 (when standing still), and 50 for the lunge. Their attack speed is also extremely slow. Simply comparing to a dire bear with attacks of 50 (bite, which is usable while moving) and 65 for the slap, not to mention faster attack speed, the Elderclaw is completely outclassed.

What about the Elderclaw's abilities? I ran an entire alpha element node on Astraeos with a small team and wasn't able to charge the bear totem to full once. Between the relatively short duration of the totem, the fact that you have to keep moving it/resetting it, and how slow and clunky the process is of charging it, I never got there. The in-built armor plus the barkskin ability is still inferior to just a nice saddle on other tames while requiring yet another ability to juggle. And the animation commitment and narrow hitbox versus actual CC time of the entangle ability is a joke. Nothing about this tame is working correctly.

Here's my recommended fixes.

Buff the attack damage. If we keep attack speed the same (which is slower than a rex), the bite/slap should be 55-60. The lunge (which has a long cooldown) should be 75-100 given we can only use it rarely. We don't need the dps of a rex, but we need to be worth the drag weight we bring into a boss fight.

Increase the natural armor cap. The scaling is fine, but if we super-breed an elderclaw, let us get to decent armor levels commensurate with our effort in breeding, say 150 armor at level 600 or something.

Lengthen the duration of the bear totem to 5 minutes, reduce the max stacks to 100, remove the stack penalty for re-uping it, and increase (double) the time it takes before stacks start decaying. Super bear mode currently gives +70% damage, which sounds nice until you realize a base attack of 30 becomes 51, still less than a regular dire bear. Make it +100% with the increased based damage or else make it last considerably longer.

Widen the band of the AoE for the entangle. It should not be a line collider. It needs to have an area of effect which matches the width of the animation. It needs to hold wild dinos in place for much longer - perhaps 20 seconds at base and 30 seconds during super bear, and it needs to have the same animation commitment as a regular attack or its not ever worth using.

Barkskin should apply to nearby allied tames.

Corpseblossom should simply harvest the resource when you approach or attack the flower. We shouldn't need to use entangle to harvest it and it shouldn't disappear if we walk too close (Who designed that?) It's functionally useless currently.

in the city, on the skyscrapers. there are a bunch with unique style (like some sort of natural pool if youre looking for something special) and others with great view if youre into scenic base spots. and they all have usually good flat land to build at.
Plus the citys somewhat central so you can access all other important areas equally quickly (the two domes, and most importantly the osds and veins that spawn around the city)

Tuso worked mostly, but I couldn't get it to fit into the last room. Used Basil to go the rest, but got jumped by those damn bleed fish. Seriously, they are not ok. 50k -> 3k in under 10 seconds.

Also, on the way out, I dunno if the spawns are messed up or something, but I got absolutely dumpstered on my Tuso. 55k HP, 70 armor saddle and it would've been dead in seconds. At that point I just turned on my admin powers lol.
