Yep, the actual artifact caves don't have sunlight or wind. The 'cave' areas like Green or Blue have a roof that is transparent for light, but the cliff structures can block it. Finding the right location can sometimes be a pain.

I've been hearing that knocking out a karkinos with a cannon no longer wrecks the taming effectiveness but when I did it it knocked it down to 60%. Is it random whether it does or not, or is there more to it?

You have to make sure to hit it on the head, and that you're on ASA

Water drains to restore stamina, so avoid sprint or swinging your tools more than necessary but if you lie prone on the ground it reduces that food and water consumption to near zero. So do all your sprinting or swinging and then lie down while the stamina regenerates

Has anyone been able to get the dossiers of creatures that need to be raised (i.e. Wyvern, Rock Drake, Reaper) checked without using game commands?
I raised all of them, some with boosted settings, but the entries remain unchecked. I know this was an occasional issue in ASE, but it can't be that hard to get this mechanic right(?) I'm on ASA.

I think framegen is still on since there's no way my fps in the current engine iteration would be getting as many frames as I currently am. I just happened to be getting even more on the rollback version with whatever was different on that. Now it's the same stuttery and less responsive feel as it was before the rollback version.

This is also exclusive to Aberration as well. Other maps run fine for most part, and with the rollback version Aberration also was now running as well as the others.

But now it's back to being super sluggish even with 60-ish fps that feels/looks nothing like 60-ish fps.

im a noob to aberation. i see there are weird cycles of day and night but what does each mean? like if it says 70 day 30 night, does that mean its 70 percent daylight during a typical day(24 hour) period? I think nights go by super fast by default so does that mean its even faster?

The 'seasons' of the days tells you how fast time passes during day or night because the surface is on fire during the day.

So a 90% night / 10% day has a really slow clock during night but a very fast clock during day.

There are only 50/50, 90/10 and 10/90. There is no 70/30.

The ark wiki has not updated the Aberration pages for ASA, yet. But the seasons for the day/night split work the same. The actual times are different, though, and probably bugs. Wildcard messed with the actual timings probably so you can tame the aberrant Faslo spawns that would be impossible with true ASE day and night schedules.

So, spawning Steggos destroyed my Aberration trilobite farm by killing the diplocalus. But Gigaraptors are tall enough and do enough stomp damage to kill steggos. So I might try building an angry-frog-based GR farm for trilobite drops.

The height is important because the raptors will be walking around a shallow river area. Each is murdering everything in range of the overweight and agressive frogs they following while the raptors are set to attack-my-target.

If an Anky carries a platform cart, does the Anky's weight reductions for Metal transfer to metal carried on the cart, or is the reduction exclusively for the Anky's direct inventory? Wondering if it stacks with the Cart's 35% reduction.

The reduction does not stack, sadly. Same for stone and a Doedic. You only get the bonus for creatures holding items in their inventories. You'd need another Anky standing on a cart to get Anky-level reduction. And with traits, that can become quite much higher than the carts.

if you own bob's then you can use the mineral bearings to get more reduction on metal (you can get one without just won't be able to know what each wild has)

It will be pretty obvious if you test creatures when they have certain traits. Unusually fast combat that speeds up, weight reduction beyond what you normally see or the wiki says, super hard to kill or even hurt creatures, etc.

If you tame something and the stamina lasts crazy long.

On my unofficial cluster, we use Super Spyglass, and it also shows traits which is handy - even if I didn't own Bobs 😛

I did a bunch of testing with Ankys and Doedics on Scorched for the cart. No reduction stacking. You should never cover over the front of the cart. Any structures that clip other structures or mesh can cause flapping (e.g. stairs that clip into a foundation while parked).

And the cart will mesh you, so if you use them turn mesh killing off (you may have already done that just to stop losing shoulder pets that clip walls)

Otherwise it works exactly like a platform and any creature on the cart, even in a cage, will get pushed off if they clip into walls, trees, wild tames, etc.

My preferred tame is a Trike so far. The least janky. Doedic is outright nauseating in causing a cart to bounce. But we will see what has Carts on Extinction.

Oh, and you can equip a dead cart (0 durability) to a tame. It actually stops a lot of the problems with bouncing as the collision is mostly turned off on the 'dead' cart.

Chat filter on ark has always been bad on xbox. Even ase. So whoever says they forst heard ofnit is lying. Their filter is bad across the board on all games. Just more prevalent kn ark becaise half the items in inventory cannot searched becoase the is blocked as well as other words and letters

Hi, not sure where to ask this, but on ab official pve, i have been ported above the mesh but below the ceiling in the middle of the map on my zep. Anyone know a way out. I have a vid. I was exploring down the non radiated red for a poly farm and ported up to the ceiling above the mesh.

Oh so, the robot, he'll harvest til he's full then wait to be emptied? Can't get him to harvest and drop stuff in a box?

So he'll harvest from an inventory if you set the inventory to allow him to do that. Bottom right of the inventory tab.

In order for him to deposit you need to set a stack amount. Put whatever you want him to deposit in the container. Right click or pull up the options for that item and at the bottom you should see stack size. Set the amount of stacks you want him to put into that container and voila. you have full automation, tho he is quite slow sometimes
