Honestly, I feel like communication is the least of SoS's problems, it's development was negligent it dropped the ball on an immensely anticipated season that most of the Fandom has been waiting for since day one. SoS should've been pushed back in favor of the collab season so it's issues could've been worked out. With the collab season, tgc will atleast have a guide to know what they need for that season.

This season did just feel rushed and it’s probably cause they’re pushing out more and more content to the point it’s overwhelming in terms of everything happening and the amount of candles/hearts/money needed to buy everything. They need to go back to quality, not quantity.

I’m sad because I saved money for this Eden season specifically but I only like the cosmetics. I want to get the AP but I don’t want to pay 10 dollars just for pretty cosmetics. Usually when I buy an AP I do it because I like both the cosmetics and gameplay of a season. Everything is getting more expensive where I live too, so I don’t know what to do. I skipped getting an AP for performance because I knew an Eden season was coming. Should I still get it for S.O.S? Or should I save my money for a different season?

one thing i want sky to let up on is the FOMO. its basically the driving force behind the economy. TS is FOMO. events are FOMO. seasons are FOMO.

and the thing that makes it FOMO isn't the fact that its limited, it's the fact that the time frame is so skewed. TS is here only for a few days. events 1-2 weeks. seasons last about 3 months but you can't miss more than a couple weeks of the season otherwise you risk losing out on the ult. and be sure to play everyday and grind otherwise u cant get that cool item.

I somewhat wished there was some kind of way to get past season ult gifts but feel it would take away some aspect of the game

Even traveling spirits are a bit stressful, last TS in live was one i really liked, but because i basically only have two more days left until days of rainbow and already had 200 candles, i missed out on that opportunity and will have to wait who knows how long

It feels a bit like the genshin impact gacha and how people wait literally years or so just to get one character, given its not the dame, but the concept of waiting is

usually an inacntivity of around 5 days will still help you catch up but with the anxiety that you might not for free players. any more than that would definitely put you in the situation of actually considering buying the sc pack and it's imo, a bit expensive for 15 sc when it's the same price for getting an AP and 30 sc

I think tgc is a game company i will favor, they personally respond to us sometimes and will listen to feedback, given not everything is change for our liking, they listen unlike game companies who won't care until their game drops

Its really hope lifting knowing tgc is still going to listen despite the letdown of this season, they'll still be trying to help us enjoy sky again even if there's some downs

Yeah I agree, for regular candles too. $5 (and even more in some country’s currency) is way too much for an amount of candles that you can get 20 of from farming one day. I think at least 30 candles is worth $5 - I would even say 50 candles, but that might mess up the economy a bit

Look. I've been playing since assembly, I've seen things come and go. My sky kid's a full year old. I'm kinda jaded on some things, and that's... Well, I dunno what to say.

I feel like a veteran now, and most vets would quit at the sight of this, as we just want a game we can play to escape and relax, not a game where we have to panic every half minute.

but the rush with the candle spending, events, and new seasons isn't cutting me some slack. it's no different from the grind games i'm already playing and worse, i'm even starting to count how many candles i should be running a day to even get a minimum to buy something i want with it

Though I disagree with a lot of the things TGC is doing and how some of the in game systems work, I love sky and it’s helped me a lot. I’ve met an amazing bunch of friends, am in an awesome community and I’ll be here to support the game and see how it changes for a long while yet

being honest, eden was inevitable to get its season, it is still a realm and an area to explore, after all.
they were running out of space, eden basically was only concidered a reset after time was done, and didn't have a significant part in telling the story of sky (at least a good chunk of it)
As well as that, eden once again, only was something for resetting. Now, the thing can make ya do accended candles without having to go to eden in the first place

plus the quests are visiting the shards, rather then actually doin somethn

As a day 1 LP moth my biggest gripe is something someone brought up for Genshin, “new player lockout” (granted Genshin is worse than Sky with this but it’s merely an example). Iirc we missed 10 whole seasons. That’s a lot of spirits.

I’ve given up hope of ever completing the permanent game constellations because everything is catching up on TS, catching up on active events, catching up on the ongoing season. It’s a never ending grind. The later on you join, the more catching up you have to do to compensate for all you missed.

And though I don’t want to start this debate, it does also kind of stink to see all the amazing cosmetics I will never have because I didn’t get a compatible device until switch launch. It’s my belief all players, new or old, deserve an equal opportunity to express themselves with all items in this game.

I sometimes debate quitting but there are good moments in this game and I’m more afraid to lose that sense of peace just flying around because of the candle grinding, stressing, and what’s coming with Shattering. Is it worth stressing to stay included and keep pursuing future content the devs offer us? Or forfeiting entirely and going elsewhere?

I plan to go to #live-feedback later to suggest an overhaul of the candle economy/earning system, the TS system, and returning ult gifts as they stated they would in patch notes all the way back during season of rhythm iirc

I was going to suggest an add on area to vault of knowledge where you can view ALL seasonal constellations, what spirits from them you have encountered as TS, and what overall completion you have. Upon reaching 100% completion in a past season via TS, you can unlock an IAP of the ults from that season.

Unfortunately I don’t have much ideas on reinventing the TS system itself because as we add more spirits to the roster, it’ll be longer and longer between visits. It’s already becoming a problem with some spirits taking 1-2 years to return doing multiple spirits every 2 weeks wouldnt help the problem with cost. One person once suggested making some seasonal spirits permanent after 2-3 years since their season’s run perhaps?

We're told friendship matters above all, sky values bonds and relationships and all the bright, sunny, positive stuff and tbh the goody-two-shoes vibe gets reallyyy sanctimonious at times... but then they're also a gaming company that needs to make money too so they churn out IAP after IAP (that halloween pumpkin was ridiculous btw), they push tight TS scheds (3 days is very short for an event, I play mmorpgs on PC so there's the reference point) and offer candle packs because you'll likely buy them if you're desperate to collect cosmetics. Truth be told, I've realized that sky is a monetized game just like any other, the only difference is that the PR for it is very, very good at hyping the "positive feels" of it. In reality, it's a game like all the rest: it capitalizes on players' tendencies to want to keep up with the latest trends. Makes financial sense, tbh. I guess that's how I deal with the grind now, tell myself it's a basic feature of mmorpgs with very rare exceptions like Eternium. Sky isn't an exception, I've found.

To be honest, repetitive is fine, if the action is engaging and fun. I can't count how many times I've done boss fight grinds in MMOs or repeating dungeons for gear, helping friends get gear, for the luls, etc. The main issue with this season's new gameplay is it isn't fun. Agree, I've palyed for 8 seasons now, all AP purchases including the Days of X IAPs. That's mainly because I'm used to spending on my gaming obsessions and I work so I'm financially stable, but that doesn't mean I agree that it's good for everyone. The pricing and scheduling are tough, worst scheduling I've seen tbh, not even Lineage 2 makes 3-day events. Which is why I think it's a clever marketing strategy for them to hype the ppsitive happy vibes and then make money off the grind anyway. Let's put it this way: Eternium doesn't hype the friendhsip vibes as hard as sky does, but its world is more expansive and players don't need to spend on it. The game is developed by players for players, and they live up to it. Sky pushing the positive vibes and then pricing IAPs and scheduling events this way is just an attempt to whitewash the profiteering aspect of standard game development. There are a few exceptions like Eternium, but Sky isnt one of them.

I've done shards on ark rainbow days and the shard event turns the whole area pinkish/red. The shard lands at scarecrow's field which isn't exactly where the rainbow is but the ark area itself changes mood when the shard lands there. It clears up when the shard is cleansed though, but the eruptions happen every 30mins so of the day's location is ark, then it'll be shard-themed all day until the shard rotates to a different location.

Unfortunately the mechanics of the shard landing means your favourite area changes vibes if it's a shard location for the day so you'll probably need to visit it on a day that isn't a shard quest day. Not all GW shards land in the ark though, so there's still that.

It feels like the message of the game got lost somewhere? It’s no longer calm and freedom of expression it feels like. Cosmetics are rare or impossible to get (TS or past ults), the rare ones always cost tons, and on top of that you have to save for events and the ongoing season.

Of course devs need to update games consistently to keep people interested but in a game like sky I’m not sure constant updates are needed. More people are burnt out from there being too much to do, rather than not enough. It’s a sign TGC needs to take an off season to work on QOL updates and bug fixes rather than giving us even more to do.

Okay so the base tree items should remain the same price and the AP locked items could cost extra without being extortionate because with an AP you get 30 extra candles, access to the AP lock items for free and access to ults - if say the base tree cosmetics return at the same candle price they were for season candles and the AP lock side now costs like 10 candles each, new players are still having to run more to get the appropriate candles than players did in the season with the pass, I'm obviously using 10 candles as a minimum here, depending on what cosmetics are the prices could vary but there's no need for them to vary as largely as they do between season and ts. I started during prince so I can't use it as an example of returning all items including ults so let's use flight as an example instead.

During flight, I got AP which gave me my 30 extra candles plus free access to AP lock items when I bought the first items from the tree. When flight spirits return - let's use tinkering chimesmith as an example:
If they come back and have the blessing still at 16 candles, the pants which were AP locked could be priced at like idk 30 candles. The feather accessory was 22 candles, the blessing could be 16 candles again behind the AP (I'd be mad about this specifically because I begrudge even paying 5 candles for blessings in returning ts trees, but then we gotta talk about the economy of season candles and let's not go there yet). Trail spell was 26 and AP kalimba could return as 30. Hair was 28, AP trail spell would be 26 and then 3 candles for the heart. If we total that up it's 197 candles. The spirit only cost 95 season candles originally. I'd say that's a relatively fair increase that would keep AP holders happy that players who didn't have the pass in season or are new and weren't around are still having to work for the spirits they paid money towards completing early but those non-ap/new players aren't working to the bone every day just to scrape together 200+ candles in some cases. To be honest even having a spirit that cost 95 season candles in total for AP holders to return for 197 regular candles seems unnecessary to me, but for the sake of making AP holders feel like they weren't conned out of money it at least has to cost more than the original 95 candles.

And like others have suggested once you complete each ts you could access the guide and be able to pay the same amount as an AP costs to unlock the ult items from that season. That seems fair to me.

It does add a new side of viewing the realms, and can be quite beautiful.

It may be good to take a step back away from others opinions and thoughts and approach it solo and only consider how it feels for you. I only say this as I see you in here over multiple testing cycles worried over the future of Sky with whatever may be going on in beta, but the worry you have when looking at beta seems to harm you severely negatively. If you can, try to take a step back and take a deep breath and center yourself. It may be good to not focus as much as what "everyone else" says but instead try to perceive things from your perspective without outside influence. And if looking at beta is continually causing you as much anguish as it seems, it may be good to step back.

Know that whatever happens in beta can change when it reaches live, and even things disliked in beta can be enjoyed when in live too.

Eden before the update was way better for me imo considering that whenever I would get knocked out I wold be able to get up easily and continue on what I was doing (or get quickly locked out in a single position then unfreezing) but now with the crawl feature, im literally slower than a snail and I can barely light a single statue in a minute (idk if im doing it differently but no matter how I tried, I get less and less candles)

Fun fact: I actually banged my head onto a cement wall once due to the crawl feature

i think it comes down to if you want to do eden fast or if you don't mind being patient. i find that it's easier when you go slow, but it only frustrates me knowing that i used to be able to do eden faster. i can see how trying to do eden every week as a player who likes to move faster gets tedious to the point where it doesn't feel good to play anymore

The original Eden in beta 18.0 was just the crawling mechanic with constant rock rain. Later on in the testing cycle, they made changes, added lanterns, stopped the constant rain, added the red light, etc.

I don't know which build Nasty's video highlights.(Sorry Nastymold, I just don't watch Sky YT videos, nothing against you) Eden in beta should be very similar to how it is in live right now.

Ohh, the cosmetics are sick. I think they’re pretty well designed. Simplistic, in a way, but expressive. Unfortunately we have a lackluster amount of pants. Also, I know this is heavily debated, but travelling spirits. I think they separated the spirit trees into 4’s for the sake of when they come back. Can’t wait to see that.. and that’s it. Krill horn is disappointing too. I couldn’t wait for a new bassish instrument and kinda… got something like fireworks but with sound. Yeah, this seems better fit for feedback. Felt like talking though

As someone who has been with Sky beta since 2019, I already know about this. My problem is there isn't response in the updates. The much more common thing now is bugs reported in beta are not fixed before updates are released in live, so they cause problems. That is very different from how it was when I originally joined beta; things would get fixed promptly and not get carried over to live. This really makes me feel that we get ignored now.

The hail is much less deadly than before, in my run from last week, getting caught in it was a surefire way to get snuffed out but now you have quite some leeway.
Well... If you have 11 flaps max that is... Going with much less must leave you a bit vulnerable.

I did Eden last night and am glad I waited until now to do it in beta. With 114 wings (not my full count) I got all but the last statue, so do feel it is more fair than the previous change. Also, seeing the statues in different forms instead of all the same shape gave them some more meaning, especially when it looked like one holding the other.
Edit: I usually do Eden weekly, but stopped after that previous update that made it so you really couldn't get all statues.

It happened to me twice when I had filled 10 wl and when i was crawling I wasn’t able to get away from a krill spotlight so I got ganked. Then I left Eden lmao. You really need to be careful, then. I understand people who play without sound want the flashing, but it has had bad effects. A friend of mine has epilepsy with seizures that are triggered by light flashing, so she hasn't been able to do Eden herself since they added that flashing. If that flashing hadn't been added, I would have continued doing the normal route and helping randoms.

I’ll try and do a run in new Eden in live on Switch, because that really is the neglected platform these days. Flashing during sunset in Sanctuary is horrible, as well as in Dreams.
iOS Eden in beta was ok, but then I know the path by heart, so I’m not really the best judge of that anymore.

Man... This chat about Eden is making me feel depressed. The Season of Shattering has been adding to my depression as well, especially feeling that the safety and comfort of Sky's peaceful environments has been taken away. Instead of seeing Sky as a happy release from the stress of real life, it now reflects how nothing good lasts for long.

Something which doesn't help is it helps me feel almost glad that my real life Sky friend who died last year never got to see these changes.

I am so thankful that I am not particularly affected by the flashing, yeah it's annoying going up to hermit but so thankful it doesn't actually harm me . Tgc really needs to fix all the flashing lights and the bloom, it's becoming really annoying and I'm sure a lot of photosensitive players are now unable to play as much anymore (if even at all) due to this

oh god, even just as a regular player the game was starting to give me migraines. i started cr-ing so hard for the past two weeks (for dor), and it was killing my brain bc there was already so much flashing in live. i’m absolutely terrified for shattering, i don’t think i’d physically be able to play the game if it comes out as it is right now.

Yeah, if sky is too flashy for any of you, don't force yourself to play keep your health up, it sucks that the game is that way now but don't risk yourself .

Srsly don't risk your health. I look whack each time I play sky coz I need dark sunglasses for even the regular realms to protect from the glare. Don't play to the point of migraines, it really isn't worth your health. I have to stop every 1.5hrs, it sucks but let's be mindful of our bodies, yeah?

Always put your health before some candles, it sucks that it's so difficult for players, especially photosensitive ones, to enjoy the game now, but please for the love of god don't push yourself to your breaking point. Take breaks, let your eyes rest, and prioritize your health over everything else

It's empty, it's repetitive, and just feels extremely unfinished . I seriously hope they have some hidden treats up their sleeves (doubt it, though) for when the season actually releases

Fr, I'm struggling to even do the shard tasks now in beta because I'm done with the 5 memories and have the ults now. I don't have a pressing need for ACs in beta so there's nothing motivating me to keep cleansing the shards after finishing the shattering guide's tree.

To overlook everyone’s feedback is the biggest slap in the face tbh, we’re here to test the game and air our thought on new features that work and ones that don’t.. shattering as a season does not work. I hope they get a wake up call when this season releases to live. There are talks about a second half of the season releasing in a beta update but I’m not sure if there’s any truth in it. The season rn feels undercooked and i wont be eating it in live..

If they add a second half, it will be its own season with a lot of lore and more story+gameplay combination (like LP) and would probably play out LIKE LP as well quest wise; exploring realms doing difficult tasks to help aid and follow the prince/king till we reach an eden event
