as someone who didnt get the bug and currently only has about 100 candles: yes it very much discouraged everyone from candle running because i only see the new beta moths and others like me who didnt get the bug out on candle runs. and weve been running into non seasonal bugs too. theres a reason why we need to play like we normally would and a reason theres no candles to buy in the shop. as for the reason the currency hasnt been wiped: thats a mystery to us all cuz they wiped it FAST when we had a similar bug in sanctuary testing.

yeah thats a feature to kinda help new players get started! not-quite-one candle per new spirit they find. it encourages them to find all the spirits and gives them a decent starting amount of currency. only applies to base game spirits though, the past seasonal ones wont give any.

purple spirits are from previous seasons and give only the base level emotes. you will have to wait for them to come back as a traveling spirit to unlock more (hopefully this is what u are referring to)

like the eden crash loop. lots of people knew they were crashing before I figured out it was the coral crown but nobody knew why. it was when I found several people crashing and found the common point that I discovered why we were crashing and was able to tell people to remove the crown to progress to ascent

So i'm in home atm and there's this person repeatedly redeeming the performance pass and I cant tell if they're bugged or just hacking. At first i thought they were just a really laggy, delayed player, but they lit me and moved somewhere else and continued their schemes.

i will mention though that rhythm ult hair and bonfire were legitimately obtainable and not wiped by progress wipes. also old lightseekers testers got a discolored umbrella in their closets more recently despite the original one being progress wiped. so if someone has those items they're just old. if they have the correctly colored blue lightseekers umbrella or deer mask that's sketch tho

You do get candles from some iaps, which really helps to boost you early game. Got all hearts for coral crown and a few fire prophet cosmetics solely from iap candles. I'm broke but only because I've spent them now

If they’re not getting enough data then they’ll extend the testing for the item, it’s not necessary for every single beta tester to purchase the item. There’s event items I skipped out on because I couldn’t get enough candles on time

and, to be fair we only just got in a few days before nature testing ended. the older testers could test it just fine, even if some of us beta moths can't.

beta isn't a replacement for live so if it's tiring doing the same thing on both apps then you may not want to beta test. or you may wanna budget your time on the apps differently. some people do beta and live on different days of the week for instance. some people just dont test the cosmetics at all and go for patch notes that mention updates to the realms or quests instead

I've been spending more time with afk spots and i might do ubers as well for live. trust me, it'll give you more time for beta testing while still getting you the candles (especially if you can play multiple platforms)

It’s down to personal preference on how to test, there’s all sort of different testing styles in beta, I personally only test what’s necessary & focus less on cosmetics. I’m not supposed to change your mind on the matter if that’s how you see it

well since we're only testing we don't actually have to have every last thing either. focus on testing the aspects that you can and are willing to put the work into. beta testing is a lot of work no matter what game you're testing. I'm alpha (even buggier than beta) testing a game and the paid cosmetics there actually cost me IRL money that I will not get back when the game goes live. that's just a thing you have to understand about testing games is that it's a lot of work and it's often work that does you the player no good. we're here to help the devs and we get to decide how much or little we help them really

After having unlimited candle due to the bug i personally think that it takes off the pressure to cr, as someone who doesn't want to cr two times (or cr at all) having candles is very helpful as i can just jump on to check the new stuff out instead of having to cr for it.

ya if you dont wanna candle run then that is your choice but you also don't get the cosmetics. it's really a trade off of what work are you willing to put into the game. and we are lucky that the IAP items are free. like i mentioned earlier. a game I'm testing made me pay to test cosmetics and I will not be refunded nor will I receive those in the live game. beta testing games just be like that

chat delay always happens when the servers have a lot of people on them. you'll notice it more around reset too but since we just got a wave of fresh testers and an update we just have a lot more people on than usual. current workaround is to chat outside sky in places like discord to ease the server load a little while you play

tgc did add the gifting feature in so friends can buy each other non-AP iaps so that does make it easier for people with no bank account or people who have high taxes/currency conversion to be able to enjoy those in live as well! I'm really happy they added that feature in. I wouldn't really get attached to cosmetics in beta though. they can wipe progress at any time (some of us old testers have been contemplating that they didn't wipe the currency from that bug because a progress wipe may be on the way) and we get no compensation for it.

the reason they don't do unfriend is so you can't unfriend someone in a heat of the moment mistake. blocking is reversible. unfriending not so much if you found them by candle. and unfriending would get rid of all progress on the friendship tree you made so if you make up after the small fight you're back to zero with their friendship. I actually do love and appreciate all of my friends it's just very difficult to find some of them sometimes

also no! just if you stop playing within the span of the test period on ios, you will lose your invite so best to just stay a little active in game, once you have your account, you don't lose it, unless you lose login info (just like live)
once you lose that invite, if you want back in you need another beta invite from the invite wave

no, you still have your account, just don't go inactive for during the entire invite that you got (it tells you how many days of testing are left on testflight) once you go inactive and use up all those days shown then you'll lose your invite and will need another, your account doesn't go, just the invite, since they make updates and since invites are 90 days, you'll have plenty of chances to stay active hehe

Is it normal to just not get server merges is beta? It took me a horribly long time just to complete the “sit at a bench with a stranger” quest because I was always alone (even in Prairie lobby). All except one time where I was in Vault honking for help to complete the quest and someone ignored me (I even walked up to them, pointing at the bench). I don’t even want to try to open the door on the first floor to relive the praying spirit, and I don’t want to spend all of my candles on hearts right now to get the chibi mask.

The last times I ran eden on my switch the camera gets launched into the clouds after I die to the hail and the only way to get it unstuck is to turn on airplane mode

One mechanic in this game that should be ironed out, imo. It misleads more seasoned players to assume the new player who doesn't have levitate is just being a jerk when in reality, they cannot help even though they want to. It causes unneeded negative emotions for a misunderstanding.

While I get why they designed those two four player doors the way they are, it still isn't a good design in practice due to the above issue.

Hi, can I ask some questions? First of all, I am beta qualified, and I can enter the game normally. However, I couldn't interact properly, I couldn't see other players, I couldn't light candles, etc. Every time I tried to light the candle, I was prompted "Game data is corrupted, please uninstall and reinstall". I would avoid using deep call excessively unless you are completely alone, since it can be extremely triggering if you are photosensitive or even if you don’t suffer from that at all.

there will be updates prior to the deadline indicated by testflight, so as long as you participate in the test each time there is an update, you should be fine. taking a break from time to time is also recommended, so there is no need to be too nervous.

8 player door in beta is almost impossible to complete without a group, or asking for help - it is not something abnormal. there's just not enough active players for it to be viable anytime of the day. at around 6 hours and 45 mins after reset there used to be an initiative for testers to meet at the elevator every day, but I don't know if people still go/know about it

the overall playerbase that does cr is a lot less than in live, so even when we don't have bugs that make tons of players have thousands of candles there is a good chance of waiting more than an hour for the elevator. thus, almost no one wants to go there and wait. it's a self-fulfilling prophecy almost players know it can take forever to wait, so they don't go there. when less people visit, it takes even longer to wait

before abyss ended in beta and I became exponentially rich I would usually cr around 15 candles per day if I felt up to it. mind you, I didn't do quests or collect sc since I had 100k+ seasonals at that point. now that we have need to do quests and collect sc I don't feel motivated to candle run at all past that point. I go to eden every week, so I move mostly on the basis of wl. to each their own of what they feel is a low enough effort where you won't get burnt out of balancing live + beta

I do too. The Discord Testers server has a bug report system similar to this one, except you can attach a note to other people's bug reports. "Bug can be replicated on (this device)" or "Bug cannot be replicated on (this device)"

One problem with this suggestion is that Sky has a variety of compatible devices and platforms, that perform and experience bugs in varying ways. Separate bug reports, even if it’s about the same issue, ensure players are submitting all relevant information for the devs to identify those problems

A more complex note system like Skyla mentioned maybe could work (though I have my own concerns on how it would be used in practice)- if you have any suggestions/feedback on the bug reporting process you can always send them to #contact-the-mods!

It would have it's downfalls with some people having conflicting information, but that would be aided by having people being able to attach Additional Notes too.

Another downfall would be that not everyone reads existing bug reports, so duplicates would still exist. Discord Testers are fairly rigorous on preventing duplicate reports, unlike here

Afaik on live, there is a bug with multiple area transitions where your character will start jumping, or facing a direction he wasnt before. So the shortcuts are currently kinda kicking you out of the end of the trials, im gonna check this in beta in a bit

So basically, spiral is when you offer piggyback and someone else offers hand while close together, and press the piggyback icon without moving. The person who was offered the hand takes the hand, and both players rise into the air, a lot slower than piggyback rocket

A beta-testing tip for our new testers joining us: it can be helpful to have a note-card with you so that if you notice something, you can write it down and remember to report it later! Finding a bug only helps if you remember to file a bug report, as tedious as those can be... But it can be easy to forget sometimes. And take screenshots if you can, too — it helps the devs!

@queen solstice I saw your bug report about crashing in Eden! If you're wearing the coral crown, that's what making you crash. If you take it off before using the return shrine, you should be able to continue normally!
