I like these “substitute ults” but it would probably get unexciting after a bit if all new seasons’ ults were just new versions of existing items

Purposes of pretty much every game is to make money, I'm afraid, as servers cost money to run, rent has to be paid, employees need to be paid, etcetera. But a game can be artful at the same time as needing to make money too.

my argument to those concerned about TGC bringing back more ults is that I can't imagine this is going to happen again for a VERY long time. Owl hair is arguably the most sought-after, clout-infused item in the game, and it takes a very long time for cosmetics to reach that social status in the community, to the point that people sell their accounts over it. And if another past ult becomes so sought-after that it causes that kind of toxicity again, then it's probably for the best that it gets brought back.

The thing is, the actual Ult isn't coming back in this season. This new hair that isn't the same model as the original owl hair and looks different, although it is similar. But it is not the same ultimate, so the original hasn't returned.

More to that, TGC has constantly said that they were "thinking of ways to bring back ultimates" but hadn't settled on a way to do so yet, at least they have been saying this since the beginning of 2020. It's not a betrayal.
Speaking as a "vet" who has the owl hair, I am thrilled new players get to have a chance at owning something similar and getting to express themselves, and personally I prefer this fluffy version over the original too.

Now let me ask. What is the value of flexing cosmetics? What is the value of being a veteran? What is the value of craving a cosmetic that doesn’t change your life? I know you all aren’t happy about it. You have different opinions. I know TGC isn’t God… TGC do worked hard for all of these but that doesn’t mean its the perfect for the community. It looks like you have the beta pings role, so you’ll be notified whenever there’s a beta ping. Usually it’s only for updates, but they ping the role when invited open too. It just doesn’t happen as often

Yes, it is adjusted to look different. I think the solution to bring back the ults in such way that they look similar but are not the original is the best. Veterans are not losing their items in the end, they will always have the original and it makes sense.

YESS so much more dynamic lighting since Flight! I think one of my favorite lighting areas is the gate to the Flight area. At first it looks surrounded by darker clouds but once you get up there it's a beautiful yellow light that contrasts against the darker clouds.

idk about you all but i am personally fine with older ults being repurposed and redesigned to a similar concept for new players to enjoy. they sort of did that with the rainbow tassel being an altered version of the enchantment tassels, and the assembly masks being similar to the ult mask from rhythm

i think that the current ult looks sorta distinctive enough but some slight edits would make it more unique... it does have a slightly different vibe compared to the owl hair. i do like it though!
