Aviary was a social hub with all the realm portals, plus a giant bell tower and a cave with an entrance to the tutorial level. There were also two (or was it three?) spirits there that have now been moved to Isle. I think the only thing that could transfer logically to the present game would be the clock tower.

Those were everywhere There were a little bunch of red candles for wax at the top iirc, in a ever so slightly slope because of the diamond that made it a nightmare to light them up. One slip and it was a quick slide down

The Prairie hub had always had that familiar design, since before the Aviary existed. Aviary stole it, then returned it to Prairie once it vanished As much as I loved it, it was a fairly small and simple area

Prairie existed alongside Aviary, but the social area is similar to it, yes. The giant flick-to-fly hand is still there in Prairie - lol!

The closest thing we have to Aviary now is current Home. The gates are there, the "hub" feeling is kinda there, just considerably smaller to push you into the real levels

Eden feels a little like the AC version of daily light. I went there with 100 wings and missed 5 statues all together, while my friend with 150+ couldn't save her last one. Doesn't necessarily worth it to collect all those wings and only be able to get 1 extra candle, in my opinion.

ngl I hate eden/ac earning so much. yeah I'm part of the problem because I'll jump right in on science experiments and testing (because I am a chaotic beta tester and will do anything to break the game) and regret my life afterwards. but It's pretty upsetting that a vital currency to the game (more than half the obtainable cosmetics and emotes are locked behind wing buffs and any friendship upgrades also require ac) has a VERY low cap for how much you can earn in one trip. A trip to the flashiest and longest level in the game. a level where friends cannot drag you and you have to do the work yourself (people suggested friends drag me when I mentioned eden is difficult due to photosensitivity) and then go do MORE work afterwards to collect wing lights back to repeat the trip again next week. and even if it weren't a personal health problem, it's emotional resonance is cheapened by how frequently people have to go in to get this limited currency. my slightly more than two cents SKYBOT NO (tell the devs to make eden less flashy not discord)

I concur in this sentiment. While I understand the need for a limited currency, the pressure for new players to get the 47 base wing buffs would kill the meaning of Eden. (137 AC for base constellation wing buffs is around 9 weeks of Eden if you get all Statues each week. New players would need to go twice a week for the full 15.75) Now add in photo sensitive players and players who can't dedicate the 30+ minutes extra every week and that time required will double or triple. (I say extra due to needing to do dailies and some sort of CR or socializing with friends other games they play, RL stuff like school, work, RL socializing, responsibilities, etc) Edit: forgot to add in the hour plus needed also for a WL run if they don't do it throughout the week during CRs.

If you don't care about getting light from spirits or skykids, maybe the second run of the week, ascent can be skipped. That would make that portion at least a little more fantastical if you could only see it your first run of the week and make subsequent runs at least 7 mins quicker.

Oh, did Eden with 101 stars to simulate a new player going in. I got knocked down a lot but only missed the final 6 statues. So seems the scaling is pretty on point.

I found my GW runs eventually became faster when I stopped using the krill glitches. At this point I don't need to stop very often for krill. Where using the glitch groups were stopping constantly.

I technically spend alot of time looking at the krills whenever i am in GW though. So i would notice if there is any server merges in between, previously I only used the glitch when i am burning the tree or being uber by my friends or being targeted by some rando & krill in gw. Although i do feel abit unfair that the glitch was fully removed even though the krills are wacky at times..

Made me wonder how skykids gonna handle melting the big plant at graveyard area without using any glitch and at the same time prevent losing winged light

If we can no longer use Krill tricks if we want to burn the big plant in Graveyard, then we should at least have safe hiding spots near the tree where we won't have any trouble trying to burn the tree again while the Krill isn't around

Oh I fully agree with that. I see a krill come up from underground like once a week.

And the graveyard plant is possible with two people no glitches. But they both have to be really good. Three people makes it easier, and by the time you have six you should be able to get it fairly easily no matter your skill

Also, if you server split with friends on eden you need to tell them regroup on Home and start from the eden spawn point. If you and your friend split from like PNR, it just idk to using that another 30 minutes.

My real question becomes; why stress it? I mean at two or three chevron's it's worth it, but if it takes you that long you could easily CR prairie, valley, or vault. And if you have all three of those done, I wouldn't find it worth the effort and risk with all my preferred people to burn it with.

I really want the jump option to return for the last part of pnr because it's already very hard to even get the statues once you're in the constant rock rain area, plus you will lose some WLs before you can even reach some of the statues because there's nowhere to hide in there

I think you still can jump in the 2nd part of pnr, but it is very restricted and many times your wl just goes happy open party breaking .... 3rd part of pnr I haven't tried yet..

Unbalanced: The extra threat of losing stars without a chance to get them back due to dark water adds that much extra of a threat. In the end, I personally feel players cherish their stars too much. Eventually, they will go into the Eden AC cycle sooner or later.

GW is barely worth it anymore. It has the lowest wax/light count of all realms with the TLP season out, now. (only Sundays puts it in close second, but all other days of the week, it is vastly lower)

Dawn if you count the trials. If you don't count them, Dawn is last place in wax/light count. Valley would be the next highest.

I feel it would be best to leave out time sensitive events like the geyser as you have to be there at the right time to get that wax. If you do add in the geyser, Prairie would be top on wax/light count. (It's already 2nd/3rd depending if you include trials in the mix)

Yes, it used to have the most wax... On Sundays. Other days it was a close second... Before Sanctuary came out and added a good chunk of wax to Prairie, and all the other seasonal areas that came out after bumping the wax count of other realms and the Daily Light wax added to all realms except GW and Prairie. (the cakes in vault, the cake in kabuki tunnel and the line of candles by the winged light in Forest's brook, the cake in the TS cave in Valley, and the cakes next to carry and Boogie in Dawn)

My worries of the realm with the only threats not having the wax being worth it did come true. During the Daily Light beta testing, I do remember suggesting (in #beta-feedback) upping the wax count in GW due to it slowly hitting last place in "highest wax count." Here we are months later and the concern became true. Now there is no risk=reward for going into GW and it saddens me slightly.

anyways I'm a little concerned about that tricks to avoid krills are fixed. Krills are very interesting creatures and sometimes they spot you while turning their head 360° because they're glitchy and sometimes they hit you even if you hide. :/
It's not like I care too much about my wls but if tgc had that urge to remove the tricks, they should at least work on those things.

Them spotting you 360 Degrees isn’t a bug. They’ve been able to do that for a long time in response to players trying to “ride” them.

As for hitting you even after you hide, I’ve had it happen and it’s mainly a result of not getting hidden in time. Though the one in crab fields/shipwreck is a big buggy around that spot on the deck. The one that isn’t a shelter.

Almost every game has an element of danger to it. It creates a dynamic to the gaming experience. If every area of the game was safe, it would probably be quite boring.
Server merges are probably harder to control, because they can depend on an individual’s internet connection.

e, I mean you can clearly see them turning their head around in a very weird way, sometimes very slowly, sometimes fast, sometimes 50%, they even stop their path in order to move that way, imo it's just a glitch.

It's true that the chance of getting spotted by them is low but guess who's the usually the victim of it

plus about the hiding spots. when it happens that krill still see me, I usually hide very much before their loud scream, in a time frame of 1-3 seconds.

Idk what you think about those things, but it's definitely not my problem, I mean, I do my best to avoid them.

wax rate isn’t and shouldn’t be what makes a realm “worthy” of your time… Golden wasteland is one of my favourite maps to explore because you notice the ruin of what must have been one of the most grand realms of them all.. so much lost potential. candle wax farming is a big aspect of the game but you can’t say it’s not worth your time anymore just because of the amount of candles it gives you. each realm provides so much more than just that..

Initially yeah. But after your 100s of CR through any realm... Those things don't seem important anymore. Given the constant need for candles (and ever increasing) there is more need to give weight to amount of candles than to explore. Especially with new candle system that affords a player spending less time in sky. Of course people can explore any realm if they have time without the sole purpose of candle farming. But as you spend more time in sky I think farming and social aspects take most of your time than exploring

While I understand this sentiment, I do wish more wax was in GW. I barely have 45mins to play live daily. So I have to figure out which realms would give me a good amount of wax for the time spent there. Other than Sundays, GW has to be skipped or the missing candle or two does add up over time.

i always figured there were good spots for extra candles in the battlefield in particular: the wax concentration there right now is along a comparatively narrow strip of the whole area, when we've got broken pipework on one side and lakes of black water on the other which could make for interesting spots to run over with some candles

518 wax compared to prairie's 701 or Valley's 761 wax makes it obvious how much you would miss doing GW over those two realms over the course of a month. You would miss out on approximately 60 or so candles if you aren't doing a full CR and only 1-3 realms.

i actually think its quite fitting for gw to hold the least amount of candles though, its meant to be the most hostile environment of the realms. i visit gw often for the thrill of the crabs and the krill not the wax. for wax i just farm in prairie and forest 10 candles a day is enough for me. but i’ll always hop back to gw just to explore. i’ve been playing for 2 years and i used to farm every ounce of wax religiously for a long while. i think the new candle system is amazing and lessens the pressure of trying to farm everything. for those still doing that i think its time to start thinking about moving away from that practice and you know, enjoy the game more outside of candle farming, i do agree with your sentiments about the ongoing price hikes of new cosmetics though. that doesn’t help and is a little counterproductive

Same, I was so busy yesterday that I only have little time to farm, barely managed to farm Valley (including dailies) and had to skip all other realms including GW, which is my favorite realm, on a Sunday and on top of it, there's candle cakes.

Daily Light was advertised as a way to choose where you want to go for your candles.(quoting here: choose-your-own-adventure #beta-discussion message) I love GW but it yields so little for the amount of time to clear it. You would think choosing a dangerous path would yield more rewards, no? If the moral of the game is go to the easier maps for better rewards, that's a pretty bad example to give to players.

Equalizing the reward at least, would be the least they could do.

Oh, let's not forget the 518/640 figure is counting the 109 wax in Ark, so unless you take the 15 years to get to Ark, you're only getting 409/531 wax instead which is pretty pathetic for such a huge zone with 6 krill (not counting the 3 that spawn when opening the gate or the Ark krill)

Lore-wise if you want something that hides you from Krills you would need something that covers your light (the core in your chest that is basically your heart basically), so if you're going with "emote" as a solution a sky-kid that covers their heart with both hands and crouches as if to hide it could work

Actually... Now that I think about it, how about using the sneak stance and kneeling whenever a Krills spot you? The kneel animation for the sneak stance hides the heart, and being the sneak stance a basic game emote you wouldn't need to introduce a new spirit! You would also need only to tweak the cutscene to show that kneeling actually hides you from Krills but other than that it fits pretty well

Uzephi, no, the beta cape was a gift after iOS release and therefor also after the progress wipe.

The office was originally an Easter Egg for beta testers, but Founder's cape was made available inside it so that people who weren't part of the original beta testing period could also visit.
Also, we got the beta cape in both games, which was why it was important to connect your Live game to the same GC as your beta account.

Then it sounds like the Belonging one is the one where we've lost the most story/lore for players who didn't see the season, since it adds some context to what the dinner table in the Sunny Forest was actually used for (the Rhythm cutscene looked neat, but that's an OOB area if I'm not mistaken). I'm not really liking the LPP quests being removed after the season for that same reason, since a lot of context for the Starlight Desert becomes permanently lost/unviewable for players who weren't around for the season outside of looking it up on Youtube. It's just like "there's an actual explanation for this place existing, but you'll never be able to experience it"

Usually, if the #beta-signup-info is in "bold white" font color (if you're on Dark Mode and/or True Dark Mode (AMOLED) in Discord) or "bold black" font color (if you're on Light Mode in Discord) indicates that there was a message posted on that specific channel, which could possibly be an Invite Wave message posted by a Dev.

A question for the betas. I play on my android phone and I can only seem to play for 3 minutes or less before the game crashes. Is anyone having this issue?

Carry is a pin spell. I don't think there is any other relationship pin spell that would work with strangers. If I see a newish beta player, I usually would help them by pulling out my crab pin and offer them to hop on the Uzephi bug express

Late response, but it just hit me: those big open pre-launch areas have a similar sort of appeal as the Valley Coliseum OOB -- it just looks super scenic and it isn't something we can readily access in normal gameplay right now, so I just naturally want to find a way there and wander around. It's really down to those two combined factors if there wasn't anything else to do in that area -- if it was easily accessible, then there's a decent chance I'd feel the same way about them as Battlefield or Forgotten Ark (very large maps where I'd ignore 90% of them because there's nothing to do or collect across most of them).

Adding to this, my friend was just telling me how most of his friends just slowly stopped playing Sky. Exploring a new area is fun, but players will soon get bored if it’s too readily accessible as you said. We need something challenging to stimulate the interest. That’s why we find oobing so fun: trying to figure out a way to go to places that’s hard to reach is fun, trying to get to the mushies that’s in the air or underground is fun, trying to look for the hidden spots for mini games was challenging. But being forced to wait for another 3 players to activate a quest is not challenging or fun by any means, it was just frustrating for me

Don't know if I'm late to the party or not but... It appears the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are losing support with the current beta... I think it has something to do with Vulkan as all of the graphics appear as black except for the UI.

Several players has that issue, as far as i remember not just Samsungs and mostly those who have android 8? Luckily i dont have this problem but i hope that those with 'blind mode' will be able to play again normally soon.

Based on my testing I do believe it has something to do with either Android 8 or the version of Vulkan phones of this era are locked too. Either way it is a very small selection of devices as it only really applies to old flagships such as the S7. My S20 and even the LG Stylo 6 render normally.

To test beta, you need a beta access slot which is tied to your apple or google account, so unless you sign in with the same account you got the slot to, you can't test the game. Thus, the way I understood things, once you relogin to your account, you should be able to continue testing. Be aware that apple beta testers' slots get removed when they are "not active enough", the detailed specifications for this were not explained though. If you want to completely change your account, you unfortunately will have to wait for another invite wave.

Invites only happen when TGC needs more testers. You can sign up to be notified when they happen in #beta-faq though, as well as read very important information regarding testing

We’ve gotten a lot of updates here in beta, like the blue hats for the krill and all the fixes for the broken Eden that seem like they normally would have been sent to live ASAP. But we haven’t gotten a live update since switch launch. Has switch gummed up the works on live updates? And cause beta doesn’t have switch version we in beta keep plugging along. I know Ktjn said the approval was longer but I wonder if this is the new normal? What happens if we get a big bug in Live?

because of the way console certification works, yes this is closer to the new normal than anything during the period of time that sky was mobile-only.

patch updates will be fewer and further between with more content in them.

the second that we patch mobile, it breaks matchmaking and crossplay with switch, so to ensure that feature is intact, mobile releases will slow down.

every release candidate is not pushed to beta, we do have an internal qa team that handles that testing.

Offering carry to a non-friend is a Star Pin "feature." I think it may be a bug, but keep in mind, it isn't hacking and a legitimate item can cause that reaction.

Not slower than others. Updates would release at the same time for all platforms. They are just going to take a little longer to release due to how consoles have an internal review period. Gone are the days where a game could accidentally break root of trust or brick a console, like a few games did in the DS and earlier eras.
