@cold meadow I think what lunarcookie meant was that that player seemed to have been buying more than the usual items from the shop while there's currently only 3 items we can buy as beta testers if you open the shop at home: the starter pack; the witch hat; and the bat cape.
Receiving so many consecutive items back to back to back seemed a little fishy.

@jolly juniper Probably. In Beta they released three at the beginning and one later, but that was almost certainly just to get the testing done faster. The big question is whether it'll be one every week or one every two weeks.

@waxen glacier The creatures move along fixed paths. Sometimes you have to backtrack by a candle or two as soon as you see a creature to find a candle that isn't in its path. They don't all require this, but if you're having trouble, give it a shot.

They say that you need a pass to unlock a certain node. I.e.: level 2, level 4 emotes from the TS and certain cosmetics.

The thing with getting the emotes ahead is this:

I feel like if I unlock the spirits ahead, it might ruin the experience for me.

Unlocking them while the cave is and barren and not yet ready ruins the experience because I don't get to see the memories for the first time in its full glory.

Taking advantage of glitch and unlock memories before season opening:
The cave is barren, there are missing structures (maybe), there's no adequate/ proper lighting, and my friends are not there, ||some guilty feelings that will stay with me whenever I see and/ or use the ~~exploited~~ emotes, ~~maybe, but it's up to the player~~||

Unlock memories during the season:
Many players present, more friends can join me, the area would've had been more polished and ready to show me the memories in good lighting, ||no guilty feelings||

But that's just my opinion, and also, I'm not mad

You can go home anytime in the trials. The home shrine will get you back to your last checkpoint

I think the idea of making the Traveling spirit less grindy is a good one, currently about 50% of my candle run goes to TSs...

I also think puting half the items of the TSs behind a paywall is a huge step back from the current system, given that many players right now can enjoy past seasons even if they come from a poor background...

Neleno, my only tip for water trial is to chill when the current goes up and down slowly just perfectly time it. Listen to thr music Umi no Yuurei that song helped me in water trial as a chibi. But if you want your life easier don't be chibi, chibi is challenging in water trial @mortal forge aaaahhEyes

My belief is that the Prophecy was actually related to someone else, not us. One of the biggest topics of the lore chat is about the monarch of Sky, which is the Prince/King.

A good rule of thumb is to read the #news for any official release dates. Beta is just a testing ground for various new features. We’re all basically regular players and have no insight in TGC’s business plans. SkyLOL

There is no controversy @torn spindle

TGC announced and released an update in beta, which is a normal thing.
Updates arrive every now and then for us to test in advance so that TGC can polish and modify it before (and only if) it goes to live.

We get to discuss them here to brainstorm, and then share our feedback if we have any.

Oftentimes the newest update get to be in the hot seat, which was the case for the "Season of Belonging Spirit's items that were originally AP-locked in their original season be AP-locked as TS items too" update. Further information is available in #beta-announcements

For our beta friends who are lurking in general-sky-discussion, please don't spoil the rest of the trials! I know it's fun to go "ohoho just wait until you see x trial" but it's better to let people gauge their reactions for themselves.
Difficulty is a matter of opinion, so there's no need to make people scared of future trials or discourage them from completing it all. Some people will find the Water trial more difficult than Earth, etc. Just like in our discussions here, people will differ in which Trial they think is easiest.

So just let them enjoy the new season and figure it out themselves! People who want to be spoiled have plenty of videos to look at on Youtube. The people who still don't know anything are probably trying to avoid spoilers, especially because they could have always checked out the beta channels, so let's respect that wish. stickerHeart

@lethal zinc It's still on. We know there are bugs that need fixing, and those fixes will need to be tested. There may be more to the Season that we haven't seen yet, which will also need testing before it goes live (that's not guaranteed, but it's been common in past Seasons). There may even be other events to test, or there might not. None of this is guaranteed (except bugfixes; the one constant in software QA is that there are always moar bugfixes), but our job's not done.

@grave jetty late reply, but I make sure to wear different outfits in beta and Live. I rely a lot of pictorial memory as well as pattern recognition, so I remember things that way and also often stick to a certain routine.

Could you genuinely reconsider the new TS idea? If anything, if most players are purchasing candle packs to complete the TS then haven’t the majority paid enough? stickerPlease Buying candles on top of a pass, just to possibly get a TS we want is a little inconsiderate. There are only 26 TS a year and in this 26 there’s only a 1/25 chance we’ll get what we want? Having to pay £10 every 2 months for this chance is a bit harsh to new and old players don’t you think? I really hate to be so blunt, I hope this doesn’t come off as rude- I’m just a little upset at this decision, especially for players like me who love Prophecy, don’t get me wrong, I’m so excited for all my friend who love the Anubis mask, but I don’t think any of the cosmetics suit my Sky ‘style’ so I didn’t want to buy it, if I HAVE to buy it in order to get the full potential of a TS I’m excited for them this is rather crushing? stickerUmm

No, you can’t buy candles in beta like you can in Live. But we get 11 candles each day from the quests/wax, so season is sped up for testing.

@hollow compass It's not possible in Beta yet. Live is another matter -it's expensive, but doable- but we're still at the stage where anyone with the mask in Beta is a hacker.

Some people do it cause they know they’re gonna be busy the rest of the season and they have the money, this way they don’t need to worry and can just use sky to chill out, it’s not a lack of self control

Cause it’s a total of 330 candles... with 6 candles everyday with the pass you get 420... it’s not bad that’s a pretty good buffer, you can miss at most 2 weeks and still be good

You know where I feel the most...sad or melancholy in beta? In Prairie caves, because before the ceiling was blocked out, you would always hear people practising music there or just hanging out on top because it was kind of awesome. Now it's just a place people pass through for some wax.

I follow up on quite a bit of the JP sky community and most of them are of the opinion that it’s ok to do that in beta but not in live, which is why I knew about it cause they were angry that people were doing it in live a few days ago when people were glitching into the new area

@chrome halo earth was the hardest for me (the one coming next week), fire and air were similar to water in terms of difficulty. For me, air was the easiest one, but this depends a lot on the person and the way you are

The second time i relived the memories they were fine... Which also happened in beta to me .. So that bug made it through and i reported it ... It shows how difficult it is for them to get through them all and hard some bugs are to fix.....

Also after doing beta i appreciated live more... Its like i cared more about everything...even the worry of people doing you know what in live ..., anyways ... I really enjoying being a beta tester.,, night night everyone 🤍

So my theory from the murals is:

ShinyBoi came on a boat with a younger Isle elder (no staff but boat mask on)
8 Villagers were selected for the trials, 2 of each being selected by each prophet.
All the villagers failed, except shinyboi, who got the 4 coloured lights and sent them off to 4 of the elders

But

The coloured lights are in different regions than enchantment, unless the one I'm counting as orange is actually red, but blue in forest and cyan in valley are different, so I'm wondering if part of that the lights prior to Eden were put in "unnatural" places except prairie, which is less touched by the corruption

Forest has been corrupted water in the rain, associated with blue light wanting to be in valley,
Valley has been corrupted with air between the ruins (citadel) and races broken structures, associated with the cyan light wanting to be in the free Isles air.
Wasteland has been "burnt" which is associated with the orange light, which wants to be in forest.

ShinyBoi ascends Eden, watched by the vault villagers and elder and became the prince/king we see after Eden before orbit.

We don't know for sure, but my speculation is that the Prince and King is the only one who succeeded on the 4 trials and became the one trapped in Eden.
The term king/prince came from the Tom Zhao concept arts

The ideas of the prince/king are one of the only concrete pieces of sky lore we have that isnt shown in game explicitly, but instead his image and symbol is everywhere, the diamond designs, the prophecy pendant, statues in wasteland(battlefield is the most prominent), and of course he's littered literally everywhere in the concept art SkyLOL

To buy the whole season outright would be about $160AUD. closer to 64 to be precise, because 12 of the candles in that totalled cost are for the hearts (which non-pass players can't buy, so their total cost drops to 318 candles instead of 330)

edit: and yeah, we're not looking at a particularly big conversion/rollover gain right now without any double seasonal candle events

revising the item costs is another option, but yeah, i think either an extension or double seasonal candles would probably be less disruptive overall (a cost revision would affect players differently depending on what they've already bought)

correct me if i'm approaching this incorrectly, but if i'm thinking correctly...
(Total Earnable - Total Cost) / (Candles per day) = Leeway

AP holders currently have a leeway of about two weeks:
(70 x 6 - 330) / 6 = 15 days

Non-AP holders have a leeway of less than 7 days:
(70 x 5 - 318) / 5 = 6.4 days (round down to 6, since being able to miss "part of a day" doesn't amount to much)

the TS tied to AP right now is ONLY in beta and they have no plans to bring it to live at this time. this is something they were testing out based on feedback they got and they want beta testers to give them feedback on it (probably for a good number of TS) before the bring it to live if they even do

I'm almost certain they got the idea from someone in wishlist or feedback channels SkyLOL I don't entirely hate it but (and I did feedback this already) I would make it so pre-order passes can be gifted before season starts and make it so the ap locked nodes are free for ap holders but still candle cost for non ap holders. get rid of the grind for thsoe who can afford it but still allow the grind for those who can't or who would prefer to grind over spending money.

That's something I'm always thinking about. It's like, 'oh, this would be a great idea,' but... It also seems like the devs are limited by the engine

Saw something in a behind the scenes real of an animated movie where they had to bounce the light off of weird places and unnatural angles to get the exact affect that they wanted, and I can see the same in some places of sky, the only example that comes to mind however is the secret room in the forest temple, that place has no windows whatsoever but still has a skylight flowing in type feel pWow

I rarely grind candles SkyLOL still get on sky every single day to chill and talk with friends. do daily quests sometimes. find crazy OOBs sometimes. or just chill in home space and learn new songs from each other

Its supposed to mimic what the spirit had during the season. Although they allowed f2p players access to past ap items, it was not intended to be like that. SkyShrug

You know, hearing peoples' opinions, I feel like TGC underestimated the importance of cosmetics in game SkyThink

I mean obviously cosmetics aren't the only reason to play - this is a social game - but they've become a huge motivation/staying point to a fairly large group of players

point in case being I"ve been on sky since before rhythm and if I actually did grind daily and put effort into it, I'd have completed all the realms constellations by now. I mostly throw candles at upgrading friendships pFIRE

I know they are trying to keep a fair balance for people who had to pay for the seasons in the past to get those items vs people who were late to the game who are able to get the same items, but for free.
(Remember the opposite of that that they accidentally released? i. e. Be reimbursed for paying for a season by giving up your items in exchange for candles? - it could be a whole lot worse is what I’m saying).

It’s a very fine line and it will be hard to please everyone, no matter what direction they choose.

I am very grateful that they are ever-evolving and looking to change and improve the game.

I don’t know about you, but this is the most involved game company I have ever really come across tbh
