they didn't "decide" to do that. It's a bug and they're working on a fix for it. #beta-known-issues some bugs are harder to fix than others. one messed up line of code in a game can cause massive problems. But that's why we beta test. We take on the buggy chaotic version of the game so live players can enjoy a smoother experience stickerHeart let's be patient while they work on the fix and keep testing other aspects for now. (now's a good time to really slow down and explore and give feedback on things you like/dislike in the new season)

The fact that it's in #beta-known-issues means it's a bug and they're working on a fix for it. I don't think they ever specifically said the exact phrase "the missing candles is a bug" but it was implied that it was a bug by mentioning it in the known issues channel. We'll know when they are fixed when an update is posted in #beta-announcements stickerHeart

they arent gonna suddenly remove the seasonal bunches in beta, we don't really have enough time to do it w/out extra candles to test cosmetics to see if it'll have clipping issues or it flipping other cosmetics (like how the flower flipped back items and gave a xylophone icon, etc)

the death loop happens in different places but I think the most common is if you die before the first checkpoint? I got stuck in a deathloop in the second phase when I accidentally fell through the floor

Tbh it can happen in multiple areas, the reason why it occurs is because you don't spawn close enough to a flame, if it happens start running to a candle or closer to the checkpoint flame

you can get out of death loop by rapidly tapping the flame icon until you light something, nyoom as fast as you can to the closest flame, or by restarting the whole trial if you want

Isle is Moth Central, and that brand new players can get quite confused as they learn the game, so it seems less likely that TGC would suddenly decide to add things that will crowd the level with far more experienced players who could end up making the tutorial level more confusing to figure out and navigate

I've gotten stuck in eden before unable to die. turns out if you warp to your friend when one of you had died and the other hasn't, you're stuck in the storm without rocks or wings. so not really a loop but I was stuck SkyLOL

you can avoid the white screen of death by moving back (towards your lower screen) slightly. It's just an issue with the respawn when you die.

The way the Eden death loop works is that when you die, you spawn as a blue spirit following your friends but for some reason after being a blue spirit for long enough you come back to life with no wings, and then your friend dies and becomes a blue spirit for you, and then they come back and you die, and so on. Eventually the timing will be such that both of you will be dead at once, which will allow you to progress

the timing on air trial is very tricky! I figured out if I switched to glide immediately, I had better control over diving to the platforms. just practice switching flight mode immediately and dive down

I was wondering about water trial handholding after we finished the trial and sit on the shrine. stickerCelebrate
If we hold hands when we are shiny, the person being dragged will burn out, even tho they sit on the shrine too.
My guess is this is because the water isn’t rising at the same time on different devices and the other person can go underwater this way. sqwarlockDed

Stuff happens, tbh a truly understanding and mature person wouldn’t be mad at the lack of a heart return. Things happen and not everyone is super serious about CR in beta. Hearts are also meant to be gifts so don’t sweat it.

it's because you have to return to isle after getting those forest spirits, that's why 2 is sufficient I think. a new confused moth probably doesn't even know that the door is forest spirits yet

it might not be the strictest of requirements but it’s just “strict” enough that the new players have gotten a fair good grasp of the game.
The caves for me, or the entrance is quite well hidden I feel. I used a bit to figure out where it was. I had to watch other players to see where they went, so I don’t think a moth will find it on his or hers first replay of Isle. And if they do it’s just a pFIRE moment stickerShiny

I just think that as a moth, getting the first 2 forest spirits is easy, and it took me a week to get through that realm. During that time, I would wander back into Isle and Prairie and discover new things. So I could have dropped into the cave even when I didn’t know what krills are. Imagine if a moth is like me and ..... face the trials

I don’t think succeeding in Valley is enough tho, as moths haven’t get used to the krills or eden yet, so how could they parkour, face the drowning water, or even worse ..... hide from krill farts. I have submitted feedback on this, but just want to know what you guys think

That's a little gatekeepy(literally and figuratively), the seasons are meant to be enjoyed by moths and vets, the trials are there all season round and forever after the season, there's no pressure to finish it the first time or even during the season, the ultimate gifts arent even attached to the trials. Moths are smarter, stronger, and braver than you think, theyll be fine. stickerHeart We can't baby them
and forest, valley gives you enough experience to know what damages you, what doesnt, jumping, intuitive playing, etc.

tbh my only issue with the trials was the auto fly in air trial and the fire trial. Fire was easy enough but nothing could save you at certain points, even the light. For the air trial i would either fall through the platforms due to inability to control my landing or auto fly over them xD

None of us as beta players knew what lied ahead at the trials, it scared few people, i do think it could be easier in the way of giving eden like tips before hand. But there's its not like theres any experience that you could get past valley that will make moths completely clueless to the trials,
And teamwork is a thing, the trials are easier with simply the presence of another player, even.

Plus you’ll play and complete seasonal quests in the meantime waiting for another trial. So the fire trial with the shadow creatures you’ll get a taste of in wasteland, while valley kind of serves as a guide to the air trial with a lot of flying practice. The fire trial is heavily bugged. Sometimes you can sit alone at a candle and the krill farts won’t bother you, other times you just die even though you do the same thing. Sometimes you and your friend avoid krill farts standing up, other times doing that save only you and not your friend stickerGloomy

I hope they come out with a season for each trial in the future. I'd love to see a whole maze trial season. Like a trial in each land. I loved when the old seasons made you run through all the world's. I like them spread out through the game.

Iiliana: TGC did an art talk that was hosted at gnomon, it has a rather concerning graph that shows there is a big player drop off (aka. quit game/stopped playing) after forest... and even higher one after wasteland. If prophesy cave were to demand wasteland spirits... not a lot of newer players would be able to experience it. I think 2 forest spirits is a fair requirement because it lets people know that some waters can hurt

I am looking forward to the next patch, because I have a feeling there will be some changes to the trials. So far, I’m not enjoying them much, but it’s also not my type of gameplay in general and I know others have requested these types of things.

But that's why these channels are here, for us to chat and debate these things. We're all still learning and for some people it's been a year since they've been a moth 😂 so it's hard for them to think how people with no experience or aptitude for games would react, but I think we'd do okay as proper moths again hahaha

The trials, and which way they are laid out seem very intentional.
It starts off with the water trial (for now at least— its beta) and you get to experience what’s needed to understand the water trial better in forest (Which also is the req to enter the seasonal area).
Earth trial is your basic navigation level kinda, it takes elements that you’re used to from just going through the levels, while air trials takes the skills learned in Valley (and everywhere else really) and sets up a trial that really challenges your flying.
Wasteland kinda gives you the skills you need to deal with the fire trial and it’s shadow creatures.

You need to run quite fast to get to the statue alone, not even mention lighting it. Some moths may be shaky ..... I have played this game for 8 months and I was really shaky so .....

This is actually really good though. I think the constellation gate is OK after reading all your opinions, since the earth and wind are quite basic and forest covers the water. I’m a bit concerned about the fire, if they’re going to keep it as impossible to do alone like it is now then no complaint, but if they enable us to do solo ..... better constellation gate may be needed

Fire isn't impossible to do alone, just way harder. I kinda like the difficulty spike of fire, but I get how it would be frustrating. I'm guessing live will have way more people in a trial at once than beta though

liliana: a thing to consider tho: it doesn’t take a ton of high level skills to unlock the Prophesy spirits and their emotes to access their spirit shops. That’s the only time sensitive thing.

However I can imagine like Ark light quests, sanctuary bell restoration quests... the trials aren’t time sensitive and will stay available for the foreseeable future. It’s not necessary for anyone or any moth to complete a trial ASAP (unless they want the lore/murals/1 winged light)

A more demanding constellation gate might just make those seasonal spirits more inaccessible, it’s ok if people fail at trials. they just gotta keep trying

I've been through fire solo a few times. The first run is always the hardest, you just need to overcome it and find a way to solve it.
Also. I really like how the check points stays in trails, aren't leaving without finishing em coz it's a TRAIL pFIRE

For me, due to the nature of the trials, I might actually hold off on them. Just really take my time when it hits live. They’re by no means easy (or difficult depending on who you ask), so I want to take it all in, and also explore after i’ve made it to the finish. It’s such a huge vast open space stickerShiny

I don’t rly see anything bad about letting newer players into an optional area that is very difficult but has no punishing consequences, losing stars in wasteland is tougher than dying/ressing in fire trial, and fire trial doesn’t have any consequences if it is failed.

Plus thankfully the trials are very forgiving when it comes to dying. Lots of check points. Older games would often have you need to start over the entire level when you failed. But that just helped us grow as the gamers we are today TGCBlueHeart

it is harder with shortest height (especially after they changed the way movement works) but it's possible. used to be you could chibi fall with any stance and now it only seems to work with sneaky stance pWeep

yeah sneaky's always been easiest. but some time back (during enchantment iirc), they changed how movement works. used to be you didn't have to press and hold to move your skykid's foot, you could just flick the screen.

There are some things in beta, that may concern live players. For example before I made it into beta a friend let me know that they were getting rid of the black ‘letter box’ bars for tablet... and this was something that would have caused motion sickness for me and I wouldn’t be able to play sky anymore. As a live player I was able to access beta channels and voice my concerns. pCry The devs listened and later reassured people it would be an ‘on/off’ option in settings.

It’s these kinds of accessibility cases that make it important that these channels are available to those who have worries stickerHeart

the only halloween hint we have is that the toilet krill is back, and that ktjn said that halloween would be their first repeat holiday(since sky is only a year old, its only now just starting to repeat timelines), no event or cosmetics are being tested, but they will be soon, and then after that they will be in live in time for halloween
Edit: repeat timelines by meaning that dates are starting to match up, for example(incorrect cause i havent checked) Gratitude lines up with Sanctuary, Lightseekers with Prophecy, and now halloween will become annual

It wasn’t actually Android players that nuked that channel. Back in the first wipe craze before sanctuary this channel got basically shut down after people spammed so many stickers and messages that it crashed the server several times. When those same immature people couldn’t do that in this channel, that went to the Android beta discussion. It was already becoming unnecessary, but they accelerated its closure

We had plans to retire it after android global launch anyway, but it also wasn't doing any harm existing, especially because it has a wealth of knowledge to search through. It was a low-priority task on the very long Discord To-Do list. The sheer chaos of sanctuary invite waves just accelerated its demise.

But has anyone else noticed some weird background glitching similar to the one that was infamous in shipwreck(whole background disappears, even the krill) in the wasteland first area? I noticed it was worse in live than beta
Actually before the last wipe happened there was a bit of a hacker problem with new moths coming in from seemingly nowhere(had the Shepard symbol), but they were all wiped with the next update

@oak berry bruh you know downloading APKs is against the TOS, right? It could cause a lot of performance, account and malware issues for you. Besides, it does not help TGC with beta testing at all. Please don't use them or discuss them here.
