Maybe... Maybe Google's AI took over the beta program and is a little too strict. Maybe if you have never sent an app crash report before on the Google account you tried beta with, it just rejects you... (The app not responding error and have the option to wait, force close or send report AKA: Crashlytics).

I don't think we had any google problems with the invite wave I joined in March. I think the google problems are from the sanctuary and prophecy access wipes. When I joined, they hadn't wiped anyone's access, instead they just added more invites so google had no issue recognizing that we were testers. I think the issue with the access wipes is old testers who didn't rejoin still showing as being part of the beta. Because for sanctuary I didn't get my access wiped and I've seen a few people saying they didn't get theirs wiped for prophecy. edit to add: I never uninstalled my app for the last two access wipes so I had no problems updating since I already had the app

I just find it frustrating that people who break the rules by using an apk can enjoy it while those of us trying to do the right thing wait indefinitely. It shows just how much it is a problem with the play store if it works fine with the same file type from other (unsafe illegal, and don't use them) sources. And before you yell at me don't use apk, I AM NOT SAYING YOU SHOULD, I am saying you can better identify where the problem is by the fact others who have broken the rules have had success. If I lived in silicon valley, I would be marching up to google's door. but alas I don't. So therefore, I... w a i t

apk is just downloading the game's code from a shady third party. sky devs have no control over that code and it could contain viruses or be unstable or any number of things. Sky won't support apk and if you have issues you're outta luck there. and any bugs you report from an APK have no bearing on sky because it's a third party and could contain code they didn't put in there

Friendly reminder that it’s okay to be excited about the new season and it’s cosmetics, it’s okay to express excitement with things like “I can’t wait to see the new season!” Or “I’m excited for all the cosmetics!” Because testing cosmetics is also part of the job of having beta

Bug reporting and giving feedback isn’t just the only thing that can help with testing. In this post specifically Ktjn asks people to simply do various tasks in game: #beta-faq message
Like burning dark plants, getting wax, finding candle cakes. I’m pretty sure that the game runs stats and stuff so just by playing every so often, you can contribute to those readings. In the gnomon art talk, they even had a graph showing how many players stopped playing after forest/wasteland. 
So yeah, play when you can and it’ll help

LOL tbh I feel like vault is deliberately made as a skippable realm, they did take away candles from the ground floor. There are many games that are designed to be extremely addicting and has malicious social conditioning that makes people play/spend way too much. By having realms with less candles, there’s at least less pressure to run them.
Just play sky normally as you would, don’t feel obligated regularly to do realms you normally would not.

You don’t have to get on every day and hardcore candle collect, just get on occasionally and do some melting and screenshot taking
And yes, as I said it’s completely fine to be excited for the new season, remember that it’s not going to be complete, nothing will be finalized and many things will be broken, that’s what we’re here for!
Once the season begins, nothing will run smoothly, items may not appear, things may look weird or bad, and your game could crash several times 
Just be mindful that we’re here to help tgc figure all these things out so they’ll be good by time it’s released on live!
Then you’ll be able to experience the season all over again without all the struggles of unfinished cut scenes, overheating and sudden crashes

Another reminder too about bug reporting: don’t get upset or offended or discouraged if a bug you reported still makes it into the next build or even into live. TGC has 40ish employees, and idk how many are ones who can fix bugs, so it’s a portion.
It could take hours, even days for a single bug to be fixed and the fixes might not always make it into the next build immediately.

Don't forget to test your favorite new season cosmetic against all cosmetics you have and report of any clipping so they can fix before it goes live. That's a huge part of beta testing that gets overlooked.

it's good to use the in game reporting feature if you see people with things that aren't officially released in the game even if you're unsure. TGC will investigate and if you were mistaken, nothing bad happens to the person you reported. But if you were correct then TGC is able to trace hackers better. (like even if it's a bug that's still good because devs can trace who the bug is affecting and find a fix easier)

Also breaking into an area before it’s ready, kinda affects your first genuine impression of it and may affect your personal feedback on it. When sanctuary first came out I didn’t even visit beta-gen. I went straight ingame to see if I could find it without any knowledge. What beta testers discovered was that the entrance was rather hidden and might have been hard for moths to find. We sent in feedback and changes were made to make the entrance bigger and throw in those fishy-arrow pillars

Personally too... for ark and sanctuary I could have drawn up a map early in to help guide people... but this also kind of defeats the purpose of beta testing. There are 154k+ people in this discord, a fraction participates and actively asks questions. A seriously huge amount players might not be interested in looking thru the wiki/socialmedia/sites for maps and guides and they might solely 100% in-game players.
It’s good to try and play the game as they would: independently and without asking for handholding guides. Because if you can’t figure out some stuff ingame, then it’s likely these players can’t either. And it’s important to send feedback about that design issue

@stone marsh Temperature stuff goes in feedback, rather than bug channels. That's so you can also write more thoroughly what you are were doing when you experienced spikes. Wyiott has been doing some serious charts. But it's probably enough to just note down which areas make the temperature spike, for example clouds or lots of crabs etc.

- battery % when starting and ending your session

I’ve spent a lot of time goofing off in home island and if there were more clouds added, it’d definitely cut those times shorter. Especially for people with lower end devices that could heat up quickly. Home is simple for the sake of battery life and accessibility.
Geralt... you’ve said this wish many times before but I feel you are living way too much in the past and clinging to what-ifs. The fact is that it takes a massive amount of effort to make a game, focusing on iOS made things simpler and Sky was able to go live within a decent time frame. If TGC had to also work on android optimization along with an unfinished game, who knows when Sky would have gone global?

Judging by the bugginess of Android, the devs are more comfortable working with iOS. It makes more sense for them to initially release on the platform they're most comfortable with, make sure the game works, and then optimize it for other platforms if it's successful enough.
Game/software development happens in stages, guys. It's not a once-and-done procedure. It requires continual updating and testing to make sure it's running, and still running when other things like Android system updates happen.
Also, yeah, saying "I wish" is fun, but unfortunately wishing won't get us anywhere. It didn't happen, so the only thing to do is play now and enjoy the game and content we can access now.

@sinful cairn I think you might not have, or you would have seen this: Beta access and/or progress wipes. We do this on an as-needed basis for testing purposes. Access wipes are when we kick everyone out of Beta and they must rejoin if they wish to continue being a tester for us, which helps us cycle in new and active testers. Progress wipes are when we reset all testers’ progress in the game.

I might be alone with this, but I'm really enjoying these challenging bugs. (Floor is lava, mushrooms, valley oob wax). Not necessarily because of the huge reward i can get but because of the fact that this requires me to be better in certain areas eg. controls, speed, precision. floor is lava was when the season started before the season update actually came out, and the game would crash if you touched the ground in homespace because of the new seasonal cutscene. you had to get into a portal as fast as possible.

The mushrooms were a let go of feature in enchantment that wasn’t meant to make it into live, from my understanding you could burn them like regular plants and get 2 candles each, i was an enchantment moth so I never got the chance even thou I was in game when it was there

Nothing for the new season except the pre-order stuff is in the game. No assets for the season are in the game. And since the assets are non-existent, the game will crash when trying to load them.
Hence why you don’t let your mother the game count to 0.
Explanation for they ‘your mother’ part: ||So you know how you hear in some people’s childhoods, or maybe even your own, when you don’t do something you mother tells you to, she’ll count down slowly from 5. I already know the taste, thankfully and sadly. It's pretty much killed me inside. All I wanna do is help the community and devs and people are just here for the new stuff... it made me a tad disappointed in the community to be honest.
But who knows? They may really not know. So it's best to guide them anyways. I might not spoon-feed and answer everytime. Most of my deadness comes from people's lack of knowledge to read WHAT'S RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. Not the questions!
But if they really do need help, don't hesitate to do so. Be a good person. A contributor to the community. Remember, no question is a dumb question, no matter how often it comes up.

Emotional labor is absolutely exhausting work, and not everyone is cut out for it, and that's okay. What is important is to keep a shred of kindness when answering. You've seen a question for the 1000th time, but for the person asking, it's their first. They aren't trying to troll, they're trying to learn and having a little patience and guiding them instead of scolding them, goes a really long way. I think many of us forget that in the process. @spark lance unfortunately the download issue for Android devices is on Google's end but Google thinks it's on TGC's end. Have you tried all of the troubleshooting steps in #beta-faq ? If those haven't worked then really the only thing you can do is wait and keep trying those steps every so often.

I'm introverted and doesn't do well with other people. so my friend introduced me to a "moth", he looks like one and acts like one. so he would talk to me and ask me about the game, I showed him places, played music. but, I discovered he was a veteran player, like from gratitude. I wasn’t aware of seasons at that time and o oh started tuning in more often when enchantment and the traveling spirits came around... so for that reason I considered my self a moth for the longest time. perhaps, that was what it was like for that person too!

Honestly I never like people labeling new players as "moths" and treating them better than everyone else, the truth is that we're all going through the sky journey at our own pace. It's entirely possible that someone who has only played for a month knows more about the game than someone who has played for 8 months. Everyone is different and the important thing is that we help others feel accepted for the way that they like to do things in sky.

I embarrassed myself so bad one day. It was a while ago but i thought i was the only adult playing this game. And I was talking to a friend that I believed was a child so I spoke accordingly. Beta and live are completely separate apps so you can't link live and beta together. But you can use the same Google account for both apps. You can keep playing on beta after the season completes as your access its only wiped when they make an announcement here. Sign up for a beta updates ping role in #beta-faq
As far as the Google issue I said earlier today that I suspect the reason so many people can't download is because Google counts the downloads and those who's access got wiped and they didn't rejoin are still counted as downloads.

@random gull that im not sure about, as download count and account access are now two separate things, when the google account used for beta access gets revoked, it is removed from the google beta test database (as well as the sky beta testing database of course)

and this revoking might be what is taking so much time to process, cos most other apps which use this kind of beta program usually keep a long term beta testing team

What I'm saying is that the download is still there even if they can't download updates, they still have the app. Because you'll see a few people successfully download after an update too (probably Uninstalls from those who figured out they can't update). There's also the issue of several people not having their access revoked by Google. Mine never got revoked before sanctuary and I've seen people who didn't get theirs revoked for prophecy. Google is a hot mess with this whole thing either way 🤣

I don’t believe going oob is a super necessary thing to be able to enjoy the game, since Sky is supposed to be about team work and collaboration
edit: Also the benefit of asking a friend to help with doors is that 2 people instead of 1 get to enter the area.

Eh, I personally do not care at all for those candles in that map. I don’t care for candles at all cause it’s beta. I do CR for wax purely for battery testing purposes. I’m not really in a position to gather up 7 other people for beta when I have irl stuff and live runs to worry about

sky is really ageless. i remember watching an interview with Jenova Chen where he was talking about the average age of players; I don't remember the exact ages but i think he said that there are people as old as ~70 playing

A Few minutes maybe 10 at the most for me, it took me 8 minutes to download the beta but it depends on your connection speed in some cases months unfortunately 😞 ...but saying that ive never updated beta before.. Maybe it takes longer than initial install
