Anyway, I think I worked the system for this season: we have daily coloured light quests in the area of the day, then we have weekly coloured light quests tied to the new spirit of that week. Presumably, the latter will also stay until the end of the season like they have previously.

Doing a bit of backlog responses:

The time frame to redeem the beta cape for testing prior to iOS launch has passed.

If you stop testing on iOS (through Testflight) or Android (leave program in Google Play), it does free up a slot. Since the link is opt-in, those slots go back into the pool. That being said, it's rare for people to leave, so refreshing the link hoping for a slot is a bit of a sisyphean endeavor. There are much better ways to utilize your time.

There's a lot of Season of Enchantment polish in the next build, now that Android is fully out, we'll likely be putting that out soon-ish. Things like candle placement sometimes come later since it's more important to get new features in your hands to break test.

The file size for the game is just shy of 1gb, but it can take up to 3gb to unzip and install the files from Google/Apple. We're keeping an eye on install issues, so please take a moment to submit a bug report.

Now that we have the vast majority of the friend connectivity issues resolved, we can focus on the smaller, persistent bugs. Polishing and refining is an endless endeavor.

Summer is the goal for Switch, but if it's not ready, we'll hold off until we are, just like Android.

The preorder countdown on Live is an estimate. If the season is ready it will release, if not we'll push it back.

We do have an office in the Bay Area and have for some time. It currently holds a mix of engineers and art/level designers.

We moved the very first shinyboi in Isle, it was causing some freezing issues with the cutscene on the precipice.

No new instruments this season, I cannot discuss why just yet, but will share when we're ready.

Currently the gift pass cannot be given until the season starts, but we're looking into changing that. Stay tuned!

we had to roll back some changes due to stability concerns, some work needed to be re-done or was waiting for other final adjustments. Where the colored light spawns has been tweaked a few times.

the positioning of the light rails is a little more fluid than the memory fragment poses of the spirits. since all spirits are in wasteland, things had to be adjusted in a way that would still make sense.

Not seeing emotes while holding hands is a big bug many people seem to be completely unaware of

Like, when another player is leader, you can spam emotes as you like.. but only you can see them (with rhythm dance lvl 3/4 being one of the few exceptions)

Oh and that green cape I saw among the beta screenshots, I assume it will come as a separate shop purchase? Looks amazingly good and since it's my fav color I mostly wear the green wasteland cape but I wanted something more bright (juicy/colorful) so this one is pretty much the ideal cape 💚 (for me)

And yes, of course earrings aren't just for girls, I'm sorry for the confusion! But these tassels looks like they are, for me anyway. I understand that is rather a matter of taste for everyone and as I said above I see nothing wrong with cosmetics and I'm sure many platers will enjoy the ultimate gift for what it is.

But my point is, and I do not want to sound ungrateful or to complain, but after seeing ultimate gifts as umbrella and campfire, useful, practical gifts that every player of any gender can use for good, to come up with hair and mask, where the hair was pretty much female-oriented (again for me anyway, I tried wearing it but my chibi looked like a little girl) and now it looks like another not-for-everyone cosmetic item as an ultimate reward. I think those should come a s regular obtainable items rather than ultimate gifts.

Once again, it's just one/two items (ultimate gift) and there would be plenty of cool stuff so I'm happy with that, and grateful! I already quite satisfied with wizard hat and so many others so it's all good. It's just takes away the feeling of anticipation of unlocking the final reward cause you know you won't use it anyway.

Oh! I went with my girlfriend first time and we've lost many wings so didn't complete it on our first try, haha! But we were successful on our next attempt and then just practiced and learned and then I saw the video where people were flying there, actually so I've learned that and now it seems rather normal. I really dislike the last part where you have to lose your lights, but everything else is just a fun experience for me now.

And yes, I remember seeing the dark creatures for the first time and I was like it supposed to be a peaceful game isn't it aahgahgha But you adapt, eventually. Just have to conquer your fear and go on.

the stopping randomly in the middle: on android devices I've noticed if someone minimizes app their avatar just freezes mid action. the chatting you even though you don't have chat unlocked is them probably taking advantage of the translate glitch (if you click translate it shows the chat currently)

What was the reason for movement controls and the camera being changed? I didn’t get on much since the update but after about 20 minutes the character seems to respond less to the controls, and the camera feels like I’m jerking it around when I move it. Everything feels very off. Were these changes intended for some reason or no? For beta people, was it like this when 0.9.0 was still in beta?

Beta and Live versions of Sky are completely separate apps. Progress/purchases in one have no effect on progress/purchases in another.

beta is just to test the game too so all your progress could be wiped at any time if they need to for testing purposes. don't get too attached to your beta stuff

ah @empty river this is different from the hearts for the ark quests (bring back the colored lights). it was on the return shrine pedestal, the same place you receive your extra seasonal candle for having season pass and the place where you receive a heart if you got 10 likes on a meditation shrine note

I answered this earlier today. They'll be located around the colored light areas in lieu of where seasonal spirits would normally be per zone. The new placements should be in the next build, whenever that comes out.

Please let me preface this with a note that I am not angry, I am wanting to hurt anyone, especially the wonderful team at TGC, and I most definitely do not resent anything about Sky.

This morning I took the opportunity to install sky on an old android phone I have. Not with a view to actually play (the phone isn’t really up to the task) but to see what the latest on-boarding experience is. I’d seen here, the mention of the move of the first shinyboi (As Ktjn called it today) and I wanted to see the effect this has.

Ignoring all the initial cut scenes and text that haven’t changed much since iOS launch, the whole experience of getting your cape has become so watered down now it is literally upsetting. It’s such a pivotal moment in the game; to be able to fly. I remember when I first joined beta 2 or so years ago, that moment was just magical; it brought joy.

This game has come so far in so many ways but the story element of the gaining or being given our cape or wing at the start has become so watered down and meaningless; it’s just another little stepping stone in the tutorial phase of Isle.

The initial cut-scene talks to us in a kind parent-like way, that really fed into an earlier version of the story of getting our cape. It was wonderful. We lost that, and I’ve never understood “why” we get our first wing, or cape at the ledge. Now even that is gone. We’re still told to flick forward, which is contra to what anyone would want to do at that point now that we have no way to protect ourselves from the fall.

From earlier today we learn that the latest change here was for technical reasons and it’s just so sad that the little bit of story that was left here (and I’ve written at length about that in the past) is now gone with no more than a seeming cut and paste.

I hope that this, like some other things, is a temporary step, one that will lead to a richer, joyous experience that marries well with so much else in Sky.

I think that for newer players it may not be as jarring or obvious, but for those of us who played the game in its beginning stages the lack of coherence can sometimes be a bit disheartening. (Is that a good word? English isn’t my first language.)
The game has in many ways become almost all about collecting cosmetics, which in itself isn’t a bad game idea. It keeps players coming back for more (and sometimes paying a little real money). But that true feeling of adventure and camaraderie is sometimes lacking.
A minor thing perhaps, but for me it meant a lot to be able to relive any spirit’s story whenever I wanted. It was a fun thing to do when playing alone; experiencing the story again and speculating about the lore of it all.
A little afternoon ramble from me, meant only as a personal observation and not an attack on anyone.

add on that, i have to say i’ve always been disliking this “new” spirit shop system since its renovation from 0.4.x. Compare to finding those cosmetics in realms and purchase what ever you like, it has become a super linear system that encourage you to finish purchasing everything, even more so after adding completion progress in 0.9.0. True that people will be more likely to play the game for longer time with the increased desire for “completing the game”, however, the focus of the game is somewhat shifted. In before i would like to join my friends and get candles along the way, but now i would like to put my own todo of the day first, such as finishing daily quests, getting big candle bundles, farming etc etc, mostly i would only interact with my friends in home when i meet them, but seldomly join them. When i invite them to join my today’s chores, they’ve finished theirs for most of the time then i end up playing the game alone. If i choose to join a online friends, the possible outcome is they’re in the middle of something and i’ll have to spend time to do my chores alone as well. This makes joining a friend has no benefit in terms of pushing forward to completeness, which is the ultimate desire that the nowadays shop system has raised. And it makes me wonder why I’m still playing the game after two years. And i don’t really know what i’m wanting from the game anymore.

It's not about Sky is a bad game and Sky totally desirve to be recommended, but, it sounds unfair to make such comment because it's tgc, I was looking for something more than just a mobile game that bring tgc hype. I was first fascinated by the idea of paying for others (although it's not an idea created by tgc but from player's comment, Jenova loves this concept and used the term multiple times). the not charging is a bug. we changed something to fix a different bug and caused this bug.

oh and i did confirm the visual overhaul of the pendants was intentional so they are more consistent with one another (as well as some adjustments to the cape lining on some non-seasonal capes so they are more consistent from one cape to the next)
