I actually encountered this problem when I was playing an ensemble with the Japanese players, the sheets are called just by numbers so I struggled LOL

i could never remember the numbers hopefully this comes soon cause i might use music sheets a lot more not having to start 7 sheets to find the one i want

Oh another thing that actually grew on me was the spirit following feature. At first, I was like, "oh I'm never gonna use this" but it turns out it's actually really adorable

I found the feature a bit distracting as-is. I don’t like the sparkle circling the player as they fly, and the spirit not doing anything… There’s a lot to polish with this feature

Oh I agree. It's more of the concept that makes me interested. I do hope the spirits will be more..lively ig? I feel like they should emote and cheer when you get stuff done with them, or offer a hug before they leave

Can someone explain the (available to disclose) beta changes to the friendship trees of spirits and the hand holding thing? I’ve seen Nastymold mention it but I don’t know that much about it other than it looks really cool

not a beta tester, but from what i've seen, heres how it works:

the items of the spirits are no longer linked by each other, and are instead in rows : to unlock a row, you need to increase the friendship with that spirit
with enough friendship, you get the next row of items, and etc and etc

with this change, you no longer need to buy x item in order to get another, allowing to skip to the items you want (no more obligatory 5 candles spells, capeless are now able to get every items thanks to skipping the wingbuff)

"increasing friendship" means either buying stuff from that spirit, or spending time with them : the new handhold with spirits seems to be that second way

it seems very WIP for now, so im not 100% sure if thats gonna work this way

The star shaped projector is a Two Embers IAP and plays the animation anywhere/anytime. Sunlight projector looks like an actual lantern and costs event tickets.

#beta-screenshots-videos message so this bug was quite interesting; i discovered that if you had two guards spot you at the same time, but only allow one to catch you, you could have one or both if the guards chase you down in an endless loop after you respawn. and not only that: the ai had learned where small gaps in the fence were so they could CLIP THROUGH the fence to bypass the safety barrier at the gate, and then catch you before you even go to leave the pen again. the second video is just me learning i could use it to mess with the guards and lead them on an endless back and forth run in and out of the gate to only not be able to catch me unless i allowed it to. so the ai used just learned how to exploit a small gap they eventually patched up whatever barrier there possibly was, but wow was it funny to see how quickly the ai learned the ins and outs of clipping

It's a prop from a prairie spirit, along with the shoulder butterfly also from a prairie spirit. Those have been revealed back in 0.29.5 but not released in live yet.

I know support said "we don't know" which is corporate for "probably not" but I'm wondering if those two props are still available on your end. I have noticed when content gets shared first hand back in open beta, players would have hope something stays the same throughout the version builds then get disappointed that it's different when it's shipped to live. That is significantly reduced with closed beta since shareable content is already as close as it can get before it goes live.

Especially how the first builds, things may not be what tgc has intended because usually they're placeholders; rough designs etc. Too often times players complain about things changing from the first builds because they're already too attached to the first versions, which though may not be what the dev team had envisioned. From what I understood, the new spirit trees are less linear, which certainly can be helpful - for example, players playing as capeless currently are locked out of various items, the new trees could help with that. And if the new system gets expanded to friends, several interactions are very expensive - as someone who doesn't like hugs (of any kind), I'll certainly be happy if I don't have to waste candles on an interaction I'd hardly ever use to reach one I actually want to have.
(Usual disclaimer that I'm not aware of the details of how it works as I'm not on the beta.)

Regarding the topic of open beta complaints, I understand what everybody is saying, but I just wanted to share a friendly reminder that a lot of things have changed over the years because of players being open with their feedback! The disclaimers for beta being WIP will always be present, but without players sharing their thoughts on those changes as they happened, it's hard for developers to gauge what players want to see.

This goes for all aspects of the game, including new features like the spirit tree changes!

Which brings me to the above message by acid, I think for some players the current trees in live are great! It's definitely okay for you to prefer them, but some players have shared feedback over the years about the way we interact with spirits and how their trees can be restricting. The new system, which is still being tested, is definitely a result of feedback from the players as opposed to tgc bringing in changes that nobody asked for.

Thankfully we have free-to-share dates which allows folks to still have the space to consider beta changes and share their thoughts here about them! I honestly feel that there is a benefit to having a closed beta to focus on the testing side of things, but there's also a benefit to hearing what people feel like when they see the content for the first time. It has often helped me see things from a variety of perspectives and helps me think about what other players could expect from new systems like friendships with spirits.

We can't currently share any new changes to this system yet, but just know it has been developing and hopefully whenever the next free-to-share date approaches it will be exciting to see those changes!

Take it with a grain of salt, these are the dates of previous dates for public info sharing:

0.29.5 - May 22nd
0.30.0 - July 10th
0.30.5 - August 22nd

That is an average rate of 43-45 days per version, so for the public release for 0.31.0 following the period of days between public info dates it could be on the first full week of october, between October 6th and 10th.

If you mean the old beta, the servers closed in late March with all accounts erased. The current beta is a closed server strictly by invitation from sign-ups in March, is for ios devices and requires testers to be above 18 to sign an NDA.

That's correct! Since beta and live are entirely separate apps, your live account will not be affected if you sign up to beta. Similarly, you will not have the same progress in beta as you do in live since you start fresh as a moth!

Keep in mind they usually test the basic functionality before taking care of the aesthetics of the tree in the end. It's still very much in testing

Keeping balance between functionality and UI design & aesthetics is tricky. If we want to pretty it up but the functionality isn't particularly helpful (like the current live tree is), then it won't be beneficial for players

The biggest problem to completing the constellations are the heart cosmetics locking up the main pathway, for example the capes

So I've been on the fence really about applying for beta. I tried this past Spring but didn't get in, it's fine by me. I was coming from a place of wanting to support the game's development and I like catching bugs 🐛 I thought "oh well, I'll wait until next application period".

But for personal irl reasons I've been deeply out of it and not sure if it's a good idea to try applying again.

So I wish to ask, to anyone here who is a beta tester, without revealing details, is it alot of work to do being a tester? Or do you just test stuff out at your own pace and give feedback? Just asking so I know whether to apply or not and to manage my time and energy.

From my experience in 0.29.5-0.30.5 (I can speak on next season etc after the free to share date) there are periods of beta testing that are frantic, and periods of beta testing that are chill. Personally, I don’t log in every day to beta (like I do with live), or have a consistent schedule, but I try every build that comes out for a couple of days at least. Because beta is one half playing, one half bug reporting + providing feedback.

Ohh I am a bit late to this, but I can definitely speak on the 30.5 beta and it's more frantic moments. One thing that can make it feel a bit like there is a lot to test is because we often test things together, and at an accelerated pace. Example, we had Sunlight and Moonlight being tested at the same time, and we also would have events, that happen over the course of 2-3 weeks in live, smooshed down to a much shorter testing period. But even with that, there wasn't a pressure to constantly be online and test every single part of these events. Just play as you would play the live game (with adding your feedback + bug reports).

When the current global season ends, in the next 4 days Nastymold may post things about the new season and upcoming events, as was the case with Season of Two Embers.
But that's just my speculation based on my research, so wait and see.

i have a question about the reworked spirit friendship tree. how does it work? and when will it likely to see release? i've heard that you can bypass some higher tier items so you are no longer locked out of upper tier contents?

We don't really have any estimated release date, but as of 30.5 beta, you can take spirits to do dailies and quests, and that builds up a friendship meter! As you fill up the meter, you unlock tiers with different cosmetics. So you could either unlock stuff with candles, or you could take them to do dailies and unlock the items that way. This can allow you to skip around items you don't particularly want instead of having to buy a bunch of things to get to a wanted pair of pants, for example.
Currently it was only tested with a couple base game spirits and Moment's guide!

NDA means Non-Disclosure Agreement, it's a legal document beta testers have to sign to keep beta info private with legal consequences. TGC decides when beta content can be shared and would announce the date of when that happens in #beta-announcements .
As of now, the free-to-share date has not yet been announced, whatever is known to public right now is in #news atm

there was a bug i found in the live game that could count as a leak if i reported the bug here, since skybot would post it where everyone could see. so i let TGC support know about the bug via their support form instead.

anyways, you likely won't have to wait long for the 0.31.0 testing content to have its NDA lifted.

beta testers usually get the OK to post things 7 days before an upcoming version comes to live. so keep an eye on #beta-announcements this thursday to see if that pattern holds true again

I agree with this persons comment from YT - "Y'all.....it's not a manatee, it's a seal or sea lion. Manatee has one back flipper, seals have 2 unfused back flippers and a little nub tail between said flippers. Both are modified from the hind legs/spinal column. So this is a seal/cervid creature and completely new for us!"
