(i don't think TGC is a bad company tbh, i think they're awesome and they're trying their best to bring light to the mobile game insdustry, where it's all about pay to win and pay to unlock, i can be here all day just listing everything TGC has done so far to defy the mobile games "norm" and the way they monetise stuff

cosmetics in sky are purely optional and you don't need any of them to fully experience the game, even when they release a cosmetic with special functions that help you in-game, they also release a free version and make it available forever)

(you could even mention the way they try to make almost everything less exclusive, like bringing seasonal spirits back as TS, etc.)

If you're not a dev then I don't think you have the intel (nor would you be able to disclose that information due to NDA) whether there's enough testers or not or that beta testing is a priority when they're literally on holiday having time off, which is something TGC has historically done at this time of year for as long as I've known how beta goes

And I'd like to reiterate one of the core features of beta testing: if you want to play a working game, that's what live is for.

Also after the live patch release (0.23.5) they were busy tending to changes based on community feedback (the dailies + SC change) so live took priority over beta for any updates at that point imo

Can I make a point to you that it is overlooked that TGC staff are humans to the point, in the office, you can see that they have a spirit that works day and night and is implied they go home after a long nights work (the fact it has to be made extra clear there of all places is sad to me, it’s a gentle reminder of the following,) — It is Christmas break for them, they have families, children, et cetera, it is a bit crass for you to imply they do not care about you because they’re not giving you an update when you want it. You, accidentally or not, are implying you want them to stop and drop everything theyre doing to cater to beta testers, there is more than 10 days left in the regular season, plus the break period between — there will be time, I assure you.
(TLDR: TGC staff are all humans, they cannot and will not drop everything with their families this break to focus on a game.)

Is this in regards to the Android issue? I think they're definitely working on it, but it seems to affect some Android users, which makes finding the problem harder. Is it the GPU? The version? The brand of phone? Etc... if it was a widespread Android problem, then it would have been solved faster. But the issue of it not working all of a sudden will take time.

Be patient ☺️ I know that's easier said than done, but they're definitely working on it. I mean, they've received a lot of bug reports about it so it would be harder to imagine them not doing anything about it.

Especially because if it's an issue now with beta, then in Live it's going to be a bigger issue.

Beta is unstable, and these issues can happen - its “what we sign up for” but on the other hand it’s also completely normal and okay to feel frustrated, or sad, if a bug is preventing you from playing / testing a game you invest a lot of time and effort in.

Beta be beta sometimes, but if certain frustrations are expressed in a respectful way, it’s definitely okay to mention that here.

In the meantime: the new year can’t come soon enough I really hope we get a chance to play the DoLove sheet. It was such a lovely sheet when we played it with the spirits

One thing I tried that worked when this kind of crashes occur on beta is go to developers settings and changed the graphics drivers from the default to the one your device provides

Until the introduction of the aviary this year, every “Days Of” event had included the cosmetics and accessories from years prior. However TGC intends to cycle some old event cosmetics through the aviary shop as a way to avoid overwhelming new players with too many cosmetics during one event period. They had initially attempted to do this with Days of Mischief this year, however TGC had walked that back and stated that all previous cosmetics and accessories would be available for Days of Mischief and Days of Feast this year. There’s no way of knowing if this will be the same situation going into Days of Fortune, but I would guess that TGC intends to implement the rotating shop model in the new year.

We don't know for sure, but there's no shoe shop in the Aviary, so maybe it'll be used for that? Though it's pretty big for JUST a shoe shop so there will likely be more added. There's also invisible chairs in that area that don't have an explanation

I know the cape shop was originally up in that area, before it was moved downstairs closer to the barber shop

I have started this beta late and might have found some issue. When I am checking the season constellation at Home, it is telling me that the last spirit I need to collect is in the Vault of Knowledge. It is really the one down in the cave under the throne room of the new realm.

Do I need to report this as a mistake in the game?

I don’t know it’s just a bug in the game that registers that extra WL when there isn’t any. Only new players see it on their very very first run in Isle, after that the WL at the boat returns and the one at the ledge vanishes.

Report it as a bug so the devs know it’s a bug!

I've tried everything, I've uninstalled and reinstalled it more than a few times, got at least 6Gbs of free memory, shouldn't bee an issue. I got a Huawei Y9s as far as it's model goes, it says: STK-LX3 on the device info in settings.

Also I got the normal Sky going quite well, what could be the problem?

I guess it is both the problem between the google and Huawei since as you said, they're not close anymore, and at the same time, google play store is the closest way to download the updates of sky.

I looked into some of the devices that seem to be crashing, it's not only huawei, but most of them seem to crash and I noticed something most phones share that could be the culprit
It's the Mali GPU series, they are getting quite outdated as it is
It's also good to point out that from a friends input one of the phones - being Samsung Galaxy S8+ , runs the game really poorly. So this is probably what's happening
The GPU's range from Mali G51 - G71 that suffer with sky crashing atm.

Funny how this all started with the December 7th Update of Beta, and @astral rover It's the little things, a bit more of time in the loading of an app, also the lawsuit was in 2014 -2015 if I remember correctly, they instantly corrected the issue but keep on stopping software updates for phones they think obsolete, as when a newer model comes out. @burnt creek the thing is that that same logic could apply to PC games as well, with all range in variety of pieces from GPU to Hard drives and processors being the change from 32 to 64bits being one of the most extreme, three separate main Operative Systems, that's why many games for PC present may bugs. And also Sky was inherently born as a iOS game, it was just transported to Android due to the same community looking for ways to play it in this operating system, but considering most players use a mid-range phones, the coverture those phones have for a game of monthly to bimonthly updates such as Beta Sky they tend to be left quite behind

It can be discouraging seeing others discuss something you like in a negative way, but it usually stems from a place of care, we love the game so much and sometimes change is hard. It’s important that this server is a place where a wide range of opinions can be discussed, which will sometimes lead to very passionate discussions .

The beta feedback however does not necessarily reflect the beta chats, and the emotions you feel when playing the game makes extremely important feedback! It helps shape the game (so it’s also extremely important to give feedback on the things you do enjoy).

Tldr: as long as things are discussed in a respectful way, all is fine. Let’s try to not break other opinions down, and if you see someone breaking the rules, contact the mods!

If you are on android, there are two possibilities:

1. You have a Mali GPU: in this case, you will log in & immediately crash. This is an issue many android phones are experiencing, which means that a lot of android players can’t access beta until the bug is solved. #beta-bugs-android!

It's pretty unusual to be banned from beta afaik. If your account really has been blocked/banned/deleted it could be a mistake, or the account might have been associated with hacking

There hasn't been an invite wave for beta in many months, if you created an account in the last 2 months it's not a legitimate one

First option was if you have a MALI gpu, the only thing you can do is wait.

Second option: if you don’t, you can try clearing cache.

All English speaking beta players are here, only😬 IDK why, all strangers I've met in the game, start talking Chinese after saying 'Hi' in English. & sometimes, in-game translator translates so badly that I can't stop my laughing. NO one says a full list of bad words with a stranger he meets for the first time.

You probably only notice English speakers here because this is an English only server. 💀 People aren't allowed to speak different languages because it's harder to moderate.

However, there are bilingual people here or non-English speaking people who use translators/lurk.

Sky also has a MASSIVE Chinese playerbase. Just for a reference in terms of social media, on the Chinese version of TikTok it's not unusual at all to find sky vids that reach 10k-30k likes. Meanwhile US version it's rare for a vid on there to get 10k and usually avg 100-3,000 avg if the creator is popular.

So it's not surprising for that to also hold the same with there being a lot of players who are Chinese on both the global sky and netease version of sky (global beta is only one used for both apps too, and there's no netease sky beta, so yeah.)

They could still be on holiday, but yeah christmas-new years is usually a big holiday for US that usually results in a long time off. And many people also might get a short week once it's the first week back and have Monday or Friday off or even both days.

I'm hoping since it's Tuesday for tgc we see an update, or at least some dev communication, but they could be adjusting to getting back or prioritizing live rn.

I am getting antsy though since we are on early builds of the season, android players are having issues playing, and revival ended in live. Makes me nervous. 😥

In the #beta-faq message you can get yourself the “beta invites”-role. If you have that role, you will be pinged whenever a new invite wave happens!

If you’re on iOS, you need to install TestFlight too, but the beta only opens up sporadically so at the moment it’s not possible to get in!

Just to add, since beta on android is a different app, you can download it and if there are spots available you'll be able to get in. But that's only it someone has left before.

I don't think this is an android 10 problem. I have android 10 and the game runs for me
this is most likely a gpu problem, the suspected ones are Mali G51 and G71 as these seem to be the common ones among bug reports for android devices

edit : after further inspection, it seems its actually the whole GPU architecture called Bifrost causing the issue, sent in feedback for devs ! hoping that helps

Thought so, some android devices have been struggling with crashing for the past few builds so every report is important to narrow down the issue ! the current suspicion is the Mali GPU's from Bifrost architecture
So if you have a GPU that is from the Bifrost series, that's most likely why !

While crash info does get automatically sent to a database, in some cases with crashes on startup, it might happen so quickly that information can't be collected and sent in time. In those cases, having a bug report in #beta-bugs-android or #beta-bugs-ios will be extremely helpful!

It's not the version, since the play store says you only need Android 8 to be able to play the game. (That might change in the future though)

The issue is the GPU with some phones. From the bug reports, it seems like a lot of Huawei and Samsung phones are having issues. But the team is working on it, so hopefully it will be fixed soon.

That makes it stranger I can understand why it's giving them a hard time. It's working for some of us, but not others. It doesn't seem to be a version issue. Maybe GPU? But if it's working for one phone, why not the other?

Yeah, it should definitely be possible to get all items in the timeframe they gave - plus we always have some wiggleroom too so if we miss a few days of dailies we can still get the ult (usually around 16 days?).

We don’t know the prices of the cosmetics yet though, so for that we gotta wafo
