Yes years ago I was a beta tester, like 3 years ago by now. I stopped playing for about 2 years and just joined back like close to 2 months ago now i think (regular sky) and have been trying to get back into beta and watching for invites so the ping i got yesterday confused me is all and I wasn't sure if it meant they were doing a new invite wave.

As far as ridiculous hilarious beta bugs? In the 5 years since the first public beta, most definitely. I do need to focus on some other work ahead of all the other beta stuff planned for today, so that's a good discussion for the whole channel. But off the top of my head:

• Once upon a time (pre-release) the krill wouldn't be able to see you if you flew above their line of sight, so you could stand on a ledge and make them kinda "dance" as you went back and forth triggering attack mode
• Once upon a time pre-release, there was a bug where you teleported Home but wound up in someone else's home space
• Okay not just a beta bug, but there was the infamous "match stick" bug where wearing the Days of Fortune orange with a verrrrrry specific combo of other cosmetics would cause your avatar to look some wooden creature from The Ring and crash iOS devices. Not great at all, but the glitched appearance was 10/10 creepy as heck

I'm sure there are a lot more, more recently, but I leave that to the channel to add

Broadly speaking, if there's a bug that prevents a critical part of the game from functioning, we won't release it until that bug gets fixed. Example of critical bugs:

• Game crashing when you try to open it
• Network issues like not being able to forge candles or merge with other players
• A central part of a season or event being tested that we need feedback on just doesn't work.

Sometimes we may still release a build with a critical bug depending on the impact—network issues are Bad, but if it isn't a complete blocker to experiencing a new feature, we may decide to let the build through and then post a #beta-known-issues that something is really janky even for beta

I love the idea of these lanterns, since they fit in-lore, but the contrast in certain realms kinda do get to me. I also don't know if they're physical or if you can walk through them, but I feel like I'd still be weaving around them

for reference, dark/bubba/caf and I were hanging out on the petal trail when suddenly the screen went white and somehow the lightseeker shop menu opened, but then we all transformed into butterflies the moment the scheduled time for the cancelled test hit
So I think what the feeder does at the spirits spot does is enter you into concert mode in preparation.

• that one winged light really high up in shipwreck (if you have it already but are ubering someone, you can hardly see this ledge)

Beta will have different issues depending on whether or not they hand out free candles or godmode.

I.E., if they hand stuff out, beta testers might not be able to accurately provide information abt whether the candle prices are too high or low to get within the event.

The butterfly change triggers on schedule it seems, like since this update when you meditate you end up in big server but still a sky kid and it only triggered butterfly transformation for me at 2am GMT (the original time for the cancelled test)

You don’t need to own anything to complete the quests. The items will be in your inventory when you activate the quest

if you are trying to do the quest and they aren't in your inventory, report that as a bug.

Eurrgghhh what are y’all thoughts on these new memory lanterns? Imo they look too obtrusive in sky’s landscape. The black colour is too harsh against some of the gentle colour schemes and truly ruins the aesthetics of the game. I like the concept but for the sake of the ingame environment they should either return them back to candles or make them translucent so they are not so bold. Sent it to feedback already

its really just as simple as introducing a button that lets you turn them off or on though (Personally To Me anyway. for a solution.)

or just lower the max number of lanterns in one area? if theres only 3 in 1 area thats way less cluttered. etc

I got a friend that always let a shared memory to her bf, and her bf do the same, they're super cute... me personally I use the memories to tell all my friends when I'm going to take a break from sky or when I'm going to do some kind of event like racing with whoever wants to come with me to any of the trials without using checkpoints... and then I have other friends that use them to earn hearts by playing music, so I dont think thay reducing the amount or hiding them straightaway is the way to go

honestly connecting via boat messages was always really sweet and meaningful to me, but lately all I see in memory candles lanterns is deep honking or asking for hearts, that to me isn't really connecting with others. Sure some people like to play music or do something slightly more, but those are more few and far between than the former. If they keep them I'd rather we can turn them off or have a designated space for them so they're not such an eyesore

I agree on this, there's a lot of message boats asking hearts, same with candles... and despite you also mentioned candles honking, i think they're useful if they are placed in the right locations like after the shipwreck in gw, or at the entrance of the forgotten ark... but again, there are those candles that are meant to "recharge you" but they first tell you the story of "why are they there" and "how they would like you to like the candle for recharge them"
Seriously, it takes less time do the butterfly emote to recharge with one of them than watching the full memory of their biograpy to later recharge half of your light because they ran out of time

Ash drops a hint on monday and then theres a video that talks about which TS could come next, first a process of elimination occurs, eliminating the most recent seasons from the list, and then another elimination process occurs by looking at the most recent TS... after that there's a mention to the current / most recent event as tgc usually relate the TS to the events and then there's the guessing part
