He uses beta to play test the first few quests and mechanics of the game.. he's allowed to want to keep some things a surprise for himself in live too despite that. He still tests out mechanics, but he likes staying surprised with story quests and that's okay

From ktjn, the only confirmed info about the cape is that it's supposed to teleport you to night coliseum. They didn't mention anything regarding 'bring your friends' iirc.

If I had to commit to fully testing beta, giving the same attention or more than what I give to live, I wouldn't have time for a personal life at all... Let alone a job to support this hobby. Kudos to those who can give beta their all. But until we get paid, this is volunteer work - we get to pick how little or how much we give

Honestly I wish I had more energy to play beta as well and grind candles for reserves and items dropping for future events and what not. Most of my energy gets put into my live account as it has most of my progress, but I at least make sure to check out all the new updates when I can and point out any bugs I find! But yeah... working and... well - life- makes it hard to fully commit a lot

Yeah, the idea that everyone has to test the same exact things in beta regardless of if you want to get spoiled or not isn't fair. Not everyone even can test everything because they just don't have the time. There are plenty of committed beta testers

I'm still over 1000 in live too but not by that much since Yeti came to take some. XD I've dipped a bit below that crisp 300 I was alright with in beta though and feel like I ought to cr but also might pass out if I try to right now. ^_^;;

I'd idle while working on projects or my art commissions in beta, but the light orbs make it far too time consuming to do so. I hate them so much since I can't collect candles while working on my projects anymore. Plus if feels so hostile and easy to put all the work on complete strangers- they dont deserve that

They're meant to keep idle players actually active for game play versus just having afk skykids... but they already have a setting in place that makes it so you can't collect wax after being afk for 10 mins. I feel like that's fair enough to balance it out imo

A large reward orb occasionally with normal wax output still happening would be fine and dandy but not just the orbs. ^_^;; I've already sent in this feedback though.

Also a lot of people have work or schoolwork so it becomes impossible to get candles with the actual time people have to play. The idle spots helped folks like that, or people who have severe burnout such as myself even, to collect candles and keep up with traveling spirit prices and what not. The new mechanic makes it hard to collect candles when you don't have the time or energy to do so

Personally, I wish they would return the idle spots to they way they were and focus on some game play edits or new game additions and areas.. perhaps some newer models. Or even fixing older game models and clipping as well

I know tgc is working extremely hard on sky, and it is one of my favorite games, but I really hope they take some time to focus on remastering parts of the game and it's mechanics. I have a whole season idea about nature restoration. Imagine if they used a season like that to work on fixing some old map models and textures with some mechanic and bug fixes

Personally, I want them to actually take a break from seasons entirely so they have time to breathe and focus on game mechanics and bugs... but the season of restoration idea I have could be a way to still keep seasons while focusing on editing the world of sky

I agree. I have always wondered why they insists on ‘punishing’ afk skykids. Passive wax collection does take hours to just sit idly by. It’s not like they can collect max candles in 2hours

The daily candle cap is still pretty low when considering the candle prices on things these days too. ^_^;

Takes 4-6 hours in the forest Brooke, Prarie wasteland bonfire, valley temple, bonfire, and the vault spot to max on wax there in live. It takes 3 hours to max on the hotsprings wax. It takes so long to max out there, and the idles spots aside from hotsprings are linked to granny. It's either 2 granny times, or sitting there for hours. I feel like that's completely fair to balance out afk players. If they can really light up buns, they will go to a granny time to do so

The pace is fine but the cosmetics are just copycats of each other. Upgraded versions of each other. The Anubis mask for example is such a great UG. Unique on its own. The Peeking Postman cape, what a fantastic addition of designs. Give us more designs, unique, etc. have a competition for concept artists! It’s a game about community so let’s get the community in!

Tbh I would love to be a concept artist and story written for tgc. I wish I could work on game mechanics for them but I'm stronger with my art and writing. I'd love it if I could help them out with some of those aspects as well - or even create the season I have ideas in wip for

Being a sky player for 3 years, it hasn’t really improved. Seasons were interesting? Ok sure. Cosmetics are cute? Ok sure. Sky experience? Wellllll…….

But you’re absolutely right. Sky would benefit to have concept artists and storytellers from a community’s perspective. Hold a competition. Idk. It would be amazing. Imagine the possibilities! A season of community! (Season name wip! 🤣)

Once I get my art portfolio, and maybe some writings together, I would love to apply for a position with tgc and helping them create the game I love and spend so much time on. I've taken several commissions and even drew concepts for my characters having sky kid forms and etc! I just don't have too much hope since I'm only a highschool grad with no college courses to really help push myself or an actual art community.. I'd still liek to shoot my shot and be on the team helping write the story of sky,,

As much as I complain about some of the things they pull, I really love sky and the games tgc produces. It would be a dream to help and use my skills to help make games with them

Yeah the game feels pretty hollow to me in some ways. The social aspect is nice, but I have anxiety and I don't always feel like socializing. Candle running is tiring, and it takes too long to get so little candles for how many things there are to buy.
I think FFXIV is a great example of how to make a game and engage the entire playerbase. They hold contests for people to create weapon designs, hair designs, furnishing designs, etc. They also have been working on making it solo friendly even though the game is literally an MMORPG meant for socializing

Honestly I want to work on my season if restoration idea a lot more. It's an entire season about restoring some life back into the lands of sky. Finding new plants and planting seeds and trees, trying to clean up the realms and help bring back some mantas and creatures of light into the realms. Since wasteland is so dead... one of the big goals would to be growing flowers there again- or even finding some desert dwelling plants that can sprout far and few between.

I might dust off the old ipad pencil next beta season for cosmetic improvement ideas if I think of any but if they actually held design contests for things that might be used in the game I'd be charging that thing right now for sure. ^_^

True but keep in mind thr game is a few years old now. There's a lot of things they can do with simple graphics, but they have been discontinuing the game on the older devices. The more things they keep adding to the game, the more they will have to do so. Its the unfortunate truth, but there's so much they can do thag they are being held back by with these devices. It sucks to have to cut them, but it's going to happen more and more the more they add.

To be fair, I'm not asking for fully modeled grass or petals on each flower. But it would be nice to have little sprouts of it or more natural looking clusters of what they have. But yeah...

I only got to participate in the third stress test, my game got frozen for 5 seconds and then it was just so much laggy until i managed to separate myself a little bit from the jellyfishes, the problem isn't the brightness, but the jellyfish explosion that happens you got transported to that area

My game actually crashed in the third test but it wasn't even at the jellyfish part, it was after the first song, when we get back to the colliseum and aurora appears, for some reason my game decided freeze and the crash in the moment where there's less stuff happening in the whole concert lol

Fortunately, i managed to get back to the concert, but it was funny because when i got back to the colliseum, it returned from the point where my game crashed, but everything was happening really accelerated so it could get back to normal time

I was speedrunning the living soul out to of it just to get the pendant cape, but I've enjoyed it nonetheless

Tbh i thought the season was kiiiinda weak at first glance seeing the first four quests, but then i started getting suspicious there was gonna be an concert and that's why they were holding back a bit on the regular quests

I remember a dev said they saved a lot of animation resources for this season but i couldn't see animations anywhere besides the emotes, even the quests were just static standing Spirits, and all the quests were building up to something HUGE

I was actually impressed that this was the first time they ever worked on a concert, and it turned out to be the greatest thing i've experience in games in years, imagine if they decide to make more "live events/concerts" with tons of people!?
I think a good way to expand the sky lore would be making actual lore based events with a lot of people!

This is what i love most about sky!! There's no progress barriers for you to join your friends in game, you can pretty much load up the game and already add your beloved friend to play together with you!

And now you can just tell your friends to download the game and experience the concert with them!

(I'm saying this because there was a certain gacha based game i've played for 4 hours straight just to try and unlock to play online with my friend who recommended me the game, and i gave up because i wasn't even close to unlocking the necessary level for it after 4 HOURS )

That is my favorite non-collab season, i feel sorry for those with thalassophobia who couldn't experience the fulness of this masterpiece of a season, i think tgc could have worked on alternatives for those with thalassophobia to be able to finish the quest tree, but it's never possible to please everyone, and it would be a lot of work to adapt the season to thalassophobic players

At the Idle wax areas the wax isn’t idle anymore, orbs show up every now and then like in the Days of Fortune event and you have to burn them to get wax

the wax orbs also take so long to spawn and the time between them makes the idle wax areas not worth staying at at all. it's just very boring and takes away the entire point of the idle wax areas in the first place

Why doesn't the Aurora orange wings cape work on Beta?
It won't work correctly on beta because the concert is disabled/only scheduled for the specific stress tests that happened in the past.
What does the Aurora orange wings cape do?
The cape teleports you to the concert version of the coliseum and then the concert will be attend-able during set pre-scheduled times. You cannot call the concert at-will while using the cape.
Will the wings cape still work after the concert ends in Live?
Yes, as the concert will occur indefinitely at the aforementioned fixed times.
When will the wings be enabled in Beta?
They will probably be enabled after the concert debuts on live.

Normally, shard events will occur every four hours or so depending on your country's timezone. For example, since TGC is 3 hours earlier than EST, my shard time would happen 3 hours later than TGC's time as it is PST. If shards started at 9AM PST that means shard events in EST would start at 12PM EST. ETA: Shard events differ between the live and beta versions of Sky. So, we don't really have exact timestamps of shard events in beta, but there are actual timestamps in the live version.

What do you mean? Like the spirit tree cosmetics? Those function like live, you can just finish them faster with the higher sc gain per day. You'll still have to spend SC to progress during active seasons. Any extra cosmetics (like the pendant cape, voice instrument, and other Aurora IAPs that were available during the season) that are in app purchases will be listed as free in beta, though they might be locked behind progress, like the pendant cape.

tbh the reason why IAPs is "free" in beta is because it is not worth it for anyone to spend real money in beta, which is why we aren't able to purchase candle packs thru shop like in Live.
Having these IAPs "free" does not mean we should take granted of the ability owning it in beta.

It actually is semi similar yet it's about finding relics across some of the realms in search of gold, or just fun little trinkets! There's a few ideas I have for props and cosmetics as well. One of my favorites is an idea for an ult gift where it's a miny sailboat that functions a lot like the gondola but it can seat 2-4 people depending!

There's also a pirate hat ult gift too and one of the spirits will have a shoulder pet bird heheh

The aroura wings will allow us to take our friends and relive the concert as many times as we wish basically, but also i won't be surprised if the price is lower when it hits live cause the aroura iaps have actually been a lot cheaper than the little prince ones alone.

I'm photosensitive myself and have 2 friends with epilepsy who play and I'm sure there's many more with these issues and they didn't think to add in game messages???? Like we can literally just mute the game/adjust volume to our liking, so I don't see a huge point in that message for sound. There's no toggles in game for removing flashing lights / making the colors less saturated / etc etc, so we have to just rely on our phone brightness to control it -- and even that might not be enough. I put my phone down to lowest brightness during the concert and it STILL gave me a headache. I wish tgc would address this more in game instead of only on discord or social media, because I'm sure a lot of people don't have access to these platforms

Agreed - don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful game and the concert was spectacular. But photosensitivity is no joke. I know I already said it before, but not that long ago I wouldn't have been able to watch the concert without massive headaches and dizziness, because concussions suck.

I'll say it again, peanut butter cookies have allergy warnings. Why doesn't Sky have in-game photosensitivity warnings? Both seizures and allergies can send you to the hospital, so why the discrepancy?

I'm curious as to why we don't have actual in game settings for contrast and brightness. And despite several complaints over the past few months i feel like the devs are just making everything even brighter. I don't want 70000 bright butterflies surrounding me at all times in forest (which is already a hellscape for any bright cosmetic). The glare on white cosmetics in some realms is ridiculous. I'd wear my white capes more if i could actually see ANYTHING while playing with them. And toning down the device brightness doesn't do much because it's not only the brightness that's the issue, it's also the contrasts and the glare effects

No one asked for a lighting update, and especially now the reflection of water at some angles being so damn bright it even gives me a headache and I'm not majorly photosensitive.
Not to mention how dazzling, and not in a good way, the butterflies in wasteland are?

I dont even want to mention white cosmetics and how they react in forest and the daylight closet in home space.

And maybe its unintentional but hey, maybe focus on the bugs that could send someone to hospital before the bugs that just make harmless changes

As a person who is mildly photosensitive to such things like these, it saddens me and ruins the experience of sensitive players, it reminds me of Abyss for those who has thalassophobia. The 2019 Sky Honk Bug as I tried a bit because it looks sort of (not) fun, but as a result, it made my head dizzy for a bit as of my experiences, then some continued and I have to put away my phone because of this. I really hope they patch it, because it looks frustrating and distraughtful, and atleast put a photosensitive warning or some settings for sensitive players, this game felt like I have to wear my (sun)glasses (despite being nearsightedness). :'/

I'll feel bad for players who has photosensitivity when Aurora Concert comes to live for those who doesn't or does read the announcements and really wanted to attend. Since the actual stress test, at made me a lot of dizziness (bugged stress test doesn't count, but there is some minor headache) and I have to lower my brightness but it didn't work (but sort of if you are near the sunlight imo). Lots of brightness, lots of honks, flashing lights, anything, jellyfish gets the top notch as well as the Queendom as a final song and goodbye. Some players couldn't stop honking and it made me a headache for 12 hours (played it on 12:00 pm on my time). It still gives me nightmares how bad this will be (if it comes to live).

And I think a game should be enjoyable not something to endure.

I don't mind the butterflies in some areas where you choose to long honk to get a boost (like Isle or forest broken bridge by the tower with the wl). The problem is the random batches of butterflies that they added that spawn when you burn darkness in forest and wasteland. Those follow you across the whole map and it's the actual bane of my existence

You wouldn't get how much it is a pain to be a photosensitive user tbh, we have played many games and took the risk, but when it is too much, it is too much, we stopped and take a break, there are some games that don't have bloom slider or photosensitivity setting that allows players to enjoy the game. But almost every games have photosensitive warning for players who has it. I even played Celeste, there is a photosensitivity setting (and vibration) to turn it off and it feels like heaven. Atleast for this.

the butterflies coming out of dark plants are SUCH an annoying addition... even when trying to deepcall in empty servers to get a server merge to burn dark plants, you end up getting thrown up into the sky, and you cant even cancel it. and even for photosensitive players, having them pop out all the time's gotta be rough

Having a fast device and fast connection sometimes helps. Everything else is just a coincidence
