To me the masks seem reasonably priced, have your own opinion and say they should be like 50AC each, but for me, the challenge is there as it's an end game item that ISN'T NECESSARY (like it's not something you have to grind for if you don't want to is what I meant) so if you don't like the price, just don't grind for it-

It has a protective shield but it can only sustain 1-2 hits, each time it shatters you need to repair it at the Elder’s temple

There's a bug where the shields don't have the right durability, the forest mask will have a higher durability in future updates, and before they're rolled into live

Let's put it to perspective, y'all grind, approximately 350 SC per season for an ultimate gift. It's basically the same as what we're doing for the masks, grinding a high amount of AC over a long period of time to be able to sustain ourselves with an Ultimate gift from the elders

I believe the team will gift us the AC candles to test the masks, maybe they are waiting until all the masks are completed and assigned a protection level which is why we haven’t been able to test these rough versions in beta yet.

I am a bit frightened about how many ACs they will cost all together but i do understand that they were probably made with veterans in mind who have 1000s of AC stacked. I just hope the level of protection is worth it. These are the first functional items that directly impact how you move throughout the game so matching their price to their level of protection is really important otherwise they could represent as a great waste of effort imo

If the Devs wanted us to test something easily, don't you think they'd have put them for free IAPs for you the time being in either the normal shop or specifically only available in Orbit and bring told with the notes that the items are showing as IAP for testing purposes and will be added to elder trees in future builds after testing has been undergone and show us a price tag for the items and see where they need adjusting at all etc? 🤷

Absolutely not! We’ve already seen a number of bugs transfer over to live if there’s even a small chance of us getting a free end game item through the shop then it should be avoided. They still need to keep it similar to live to ensure it transfers over correctly. That would just create more problems imo and is probably why it’s never been done in the past

I think that’s a good mindset to have when we go into testing for the Aurora season, believe that everything is ridiculously overpriced and then hopefully discuss what we feel they are worth within the chat, maybe create a poll or something so we can feedback to the team, it’s definitely going to be harder, like making a shot in the dark but if TLP cosmetics stayed how they were originally intended it would have completely ruined the season for so many players. I really hope tgc have learned from that mishap

I don't think we'll see many IAPs for the aurora one, it is a Collab season entirely and I get for LP we got a lot of IAP, tbf I think the fox just missed getting to UG status so they passed it as an IAP, it's a shame sword pants are lost to the vault forever and the asteroid cape was to make the area accessible to all, but it may have been overpriced to an extent?

I feel anything that doesn't make it as a UG will make it as a cheapish IAP (<$10)

I just think TGC is ignoring a lot of players that are measuring the item's value with either its looks or its functionality. I know there's spells, but I think people are hoarding them more than they're using them since they either don't return or are available for a limited time. It's just not the right move, no matter how they put it

tbh i'm rarely disappointed by the cosmetics, especially the way they look. performance and shattering have some of my favorite cosmetics so far!!
it's just that everything feels more expensive now. like if you compare the bloom capes from 2021 and 2022 respectively. or how completing a whole season takes longer and requires more sc now compared to earlier seasons.

I think as the team has grown enough in size and differing perspectives that they’ve probably come to realise our input as beta players can be directed more on the gameplay and “feelings” that emanate from certain new areas and cosmetics that are introduced and less about what we feel we are comfortable spending. Im sure they’ve got a large sales team to run stats and figures on what their most profitable items are and what price range players are usually willing to go for. @naive solar offered me some great perspective. Haha i think we should give the team the benefit of the doubt and see what they come up with first before we try to knock it down.. pricing used to cause us a LOT grief here in the beta chat so it might be a good idea that we don’t have to experience that anymore

If it was the call, then you can use it in beta. As long as you own the pin it can be used in live and beta if you’ve connected the pin to both. It does have a cooldown though so if the person was spamming it that’s not really possible

Pins barely work in beta, so it's more likely to be a user using 3rd party tools than someone using a pin. If it was done through a legitimate pin, a report won't harm them. (For example, most beta players I play with don't have their pins working at all in beta, but they work fine for Live and NetEase versions of the game.)

honestly, the way i would rework traveling spirits (with minimal rework) is to have an area where you can access all the spirits who you have invested a wing buff in at any time in their seasonal constellations
when a random spirit visits home it's price is slightly cheaper
but when it's not, the price are higher (basically what they are nowadays, maybe 15% markup if you really want to push it that it's unfair or something)
but you can access them whenever, so the fomo would be somewhat lessened so at least you have the choice of either getting it while it's cheap or securing it for later when you can actually pay up big bucks for it

Although I literally have told you my Belonging progress, I still had a lot of wiggle room, I didn’t collect any cosmetics the first two weeks (only the red cape) so I was just saving up any candles I could find, then it hit me those items would never return (before TS) so I started scrambling to get everything. Then potentially halfway through the season I received the pass, by then I had 4/6 spirits completed as non-AP, thanks to the extension I could finish all spirits except for the seasonal hearts. I don’t think I understood what a double SC event was

Like, Days of Fortune could be in the starlight beach area. There could be a little area at forest's for Days of Love with a gondola that floats around the pond. Bloom could stay at the entrance of forest. Days of Nature is permanent. Days of Rainbow could move to the empty desert in ark and have a game where you have to solve color based puzzles like colored crabs you have to line up and rainbow circles you have to fly through. Anniversary should stay temporary. Days of Sunlight could be put in the treehouse instead of in grandma's space. Days of Summer and Summer Lights could be put on the outer isles of Sanctuary. Days of Mischief could be on the outside of the shipwreck in wasteland. Days of Feast could be put in valley in a new cave entrance on the outside of the ice rink. Days of healing could be just a bunch of flowers that cover the butterfly fields and if you polinate them all you get some wax. I also came up with the sunlight idea but for starlight beach instead of sanctuary before it was introduced.

How are prices in a beta game essential? We are here to test.. they can change (and charge) anything and everything within the game.

Pricing in a game, any video game, is essential because a developer should be transparent about their pricing to their customers. essentially, this is a business. TGC sells, i buy. i am a customer, therefore i have a right to know how much something costs before it's sold to me, especially when it's of a high price. now if you say something like, no i don't have that right and i'd get to know it anyways when the item comes to live, consider this : once the IAP is sent to live, by then it is too late to change the price because those who can afford it have bought it already. tgc has the prerogative to charge what they want, yes, it's their game, but that doesn't mean they can charge exorbitantly high prices either, for things that aren't even worth it (30USD for a guitar which can be gotten for free as well, for example)

It actually isn’t essential at all, the game has been out since 2019, they have numbers that we don’t have access to.

It is absolutely essential, because the devs get majority of their feedback from beta testers. I'd like to remind you here of the prince pants in TLP season and the rainbow pants as well. they were crazy expensive, inaccessible to many players due to the high prices. it was the feedback of beta testers that ensured these were made IGC therefore allowing more people to enjoy it, while at the same time, allowing TGC to profit by still maintaining other items as IAP. this was kind of a win-win for both involved parties. we get things we can afford, but not the cost of their profit either.

It may be (or used to be) convenient for TGC to see how people comment about it in discord, but I believe the people who whine about BETA PRICING got what they asked for.
The purpose of a beta tester is to give feedback on ALL aspects of a new item in game. Both price, look, feel, utility and whatever else there is. A tester cannot make a fair judgement when an essential piece of information is hidden from them. You might call that 'whining', but that is how feedback works. Constructive criticism is not whining. And for people who are disappointed, their feelings are valid too, and they can express it freely here without people like you calling it 'whining' and saying that they deserved what they got. You may have a different opinion which is also valid, but don't be disrespectful of others' feelings.

logically speaking, if you don't take my word for it, maybe you'll believe the numbers, so let me explain.

A majority of sky players are minors with no income, or adults who simply cannot afford to buy expensive items.

The TGC guitar has the price of 30 USD, which is expensive, there is only a smaller fraction of people who can afford it. Many cannot, and will skip on buying it. Wouldn't that imply less profit for TGC? Whereas, if IAPs were sold at a lesser price, say between 1-5 USD (like the bunny plush, orange, rainbow earring etc), more people could afford it, therefore more people may buy it. I don't have access to numbers they have, you're right, but as a player who's been here since the beginning, I see my friends skipping on buying the 30 USD stuff for themselves, let alone friends, and they prefer to buy the cheaper stuff for themselves and friends because they can afford to.

Beta testers have been an important stakeholder in this game, and their voices in pricing are absolutely essential. Despite whatever stuff they want us to focus on like design etc (as per Ktjn's statement, look at this link #beta-discussion message), the harsh reality remains, that price is the most important factor when purchasing something. That's why hiding the prices doesn't really serve any purpose. @strong haven

Lastly, it's simply more efficient to work within a price range. sky beta is open ended, and there are minors playing this game, i don't really think they should be commenting on finances like these without a range at least. This is a free game, they do have to make and generate MORE revenue. You said you have played since the beginning - do you remember how different the prices of IAP were then? Do you remember how small the team was back when everything began? I recall older seasons not being as dynamic, having smaller new areas (or none at all) - consider the possiblity that covering more employees is a huge investment. This doesn't even include marketing expenses, server upgrades, office expenses, etc.

In general, the things themselves are not worth it for iaps. There is not only a problem in the pricing of things, but also the things themselves, which are quite overpriced and generally do not give anything. The same reskin on all the well-known instruments...

Pricing is pretty important to share because it's still something that is worthy of (gentle) criticism and feedback.
If the pricing of the rainbow pants had never been available, it still would have been a $10 IAP item when they brought it to live. Days of Rainbow would have had no new IGC cosmetic. It would have been an event purely of IAP cosmetics, and the pants would not have gone to charity either. (only the rainbow flowers have for days of rainbow iirc)
Without showing the pricing less people will be leaving feedback. I haven't left feedback on what pricing I think would be nice since this change and I'm sure most won't be doing so either.

You can visit the event area (with the Void of Light and Darkness so that area doesn’t get lost) and then just relive memories from there. That process is quite long and very time consuming. The only way i could see this working is if they completely got rid of the black shards and made the red shards a daily occurrence. But even after the season when the explosions die down they really expect us to wait?

obviously, adding anything new or fixing anything in a game is going to demand some work regardless.

i can sympathise with the concept of wanting to fix the root of the problem once and for all, even if it takes a long, long time
because finding work-arounds can only do so much
replaying seasonal quests can't be done, unless there was a trigger point you had to access in between each of them, like the Dreams quests that you can activate whenever because it was fitted as reliving a spirit's memory. But that's a very, very specific case that ended up working fine ish.
you still can't relive the parts between going to the dreams guide and then starting the quest itself, and you don't get the immediate cutscene that played after finishing that "spirit memory" either. But that's only a work-around that kind of works.

This would definitely turn seasons on their head and offer something new. However, i do think it’s nice that we are able to associate a spirit to an emote, we view it as their personality trait, almost like the dwarves in snow white which is quite endearing and fleshes out the game a little bit

The kabuki spirits mask is a crab but i think its mixed in with oni themes as well. I wear the mask every so often to resemble the oni masks samurai wear.

The best way to see the resemblance to a crab is to flip the icon of the mask upside down.

When you back out of the map it looks like there's a progress bar around the costellation circle. Anyone know what that is or can guess?
