xD The Krill are much scarier to me then the Guardians. The underground is pretty easy to avoid them if you stick to the left.... and on the trek up the mountain... Generally, to avoid them go left and stick to the wall xD You cant avoid the Krill quite as easily

If you have the iPhone XR, you may want to play it on a different device though.... purple glitches start out near the characters feet and then they progress to covering the entire left side. It’s just on XR according to reviews though. It is a good game (I played on iPad and then I watched a gameplay) so don’t let this dissuade you from getting it in the future

Think of Sky as the spiritual successor to Journey
they share mechanics (Warmth/light being tied to flying power, flying, sand surfing, Monsters that eat your power) But Sky builds upon it a lot more
Honestly in a way I kinda see Sky as the prequal to Journey because of the similarities and architecture (theres a part in Eden which reminds me heavily of a part of the sandsurfing in Journey) The Guardians and Krill are very similar, but Guardians are more mechanical in nature (The boat in golden wastes reminds me of how Guardians move in a way) But the light cloaks ended up being used for power and also became kinda living things in their own right (look I didnt say it was a perfect transition xD)

those games have only been ported to other platforms like ios and pc because they don't directly compete with playstation, since they're not consoles

Most of Journey players have played Journey on consoles with the gamepad. I strongly recommend to play with gamepad on PC also. I was happy to see I was able to play Sky on Android with my Xbox One controller without any extra configuration!

you can get a white cloak if you collect every sigil in the game (sigils are the white glowing symbols that grow your scarf)
the white cloak and the red cloak are the only 2 possible colours

Once you’ve collected all the symbols there will be a “closet” in the start hub where you can change. The white cloak recharges itself when you touch down on ground, but you can still lose scarf parts if attacked by a war machine.

You don't need to collect all of the sigils in one playthrough. It's enough to discover each of them once in as many playthroughs as you need, just don't delete your savefile :)
This spot in the first area is where you can see which sigils you've discovered already. Each shelf represents a level. You can also see them at the meditation shrines at the end of each level. There are 21 sigils total.

Journey was the most extraordinary game experience when I played it the first time. 90 minutes of my life well invested. I know Sky because of Journey, as I normally don't play mobile games. But with Sky I made an exception. And I am glad that I did. 👍🏻

Indeed. I remember first playing Sky last July, I kinda anticipated what will happen in the next area from Valley onwards, so Eden was not that big surprise. I replayed Journey yesterday (after 16 months break from it), and it still is a wonderful art masterpiece. I can't find words to describe how it makes me feel every time I play it. Even though the level progression is similar, I think Journey is more mature both in content and audience, even though Sky is a newer game. The ||rebirth concept and shepherding of new players|| are more meaningful in Journey to me. I like Sky for its social aspect.

I don't think we need to compare the 2 games. They each deliver different game experience. I agree that one can't escape to spot the similarities. Watching the video posted above about the difficulties tgc experienced when developing Journey, it is possible they ran out of time and money to fully realise all concepts, which then probably were used / leveraged in the development of Sky. Both games are enjoyable on their own 🙂

I played Journey for the first time a few days ago. At first, I was super confused. Not quite sure what my objective was. Then in the area that’s similar to the valley ground race, I did a dumb, collided into a pillar to stop and grab a scarf piece, only to realize... if you crash into the pillars... the game decides that you are unworthy to play it... sooooooo I had to restart. I met another player during my second time trying my first round of stuff again. It was fun, but annoying at times. A lot of the cutscenes I had already done alone... wouldn’t even play out and just kinda. Froze. Regardless, I had a lot of fun recognizing similarities between Journey and Sky. The krill-like monsters almost made my heart skip a beat. Those things are terrifying. Sorry for writing a whole paragraph... but... ^^; first impressions post I guess? Anyway. It is a beautiful game. Both are.

@oblique basin the robots are much less forgiving than in Sky, but also more predictable. Those levels are set up so you can get to the next hiding place before scary boi goes by.
Going through that section is absolutely worth it since the next level is beautiful, and the ending is amazing (after the hell and death to get to it)

@tawny scroll the beauty of flower on Console was that it was played by holding down any button and tilting the controller. It was easy to learn and very smooth
PC games can't factor in tilt controls, so joystick or keyboard is required. Keyboard is practically unplayable, and the joystick movements are much less smooth. As someone who played flower on 2 PlayStation platforms and PC, PC is very uncomfortable to play, even with a controller.
Mario Kart controls for Flower might work

Unsure if this is the channel for this sort of question, but does anyone know if "The Art of Journey" by Matthew Nava is still available somewhere or if it will ever be reprinted/PDF digital download maybe? Only Amazon seems to have any left but it's being sold for $500 when the reviews say it's only supposed to be $70--and I'm pretty sure that inflated cost isn't going to support the devs or the artists, it probably goes to the distributors. For such a fantastic game I'd even be willing to pay $100 for a digital PDF but $500 is a little too much.
I also heard rumors that there was a 2nd edition in the works, though I haven't been able to find any further information about it.
