There are multiple impacts per event, any darkness plants that are around just burn them until the cut scene shows and the shards disappear. You then collect the wax, If you take too long or there is a bad server merge then another round of shard impacts might start pretty soon afterwards, but you can only collect the wax once.

That is for Black shard events only, Red shards are more difficult and dangerous, and it varies depending on location, because there are usually black crabs (and sometimes red) running around nibbling at your toes and draining your light, also there can be red shard fragments swirling around getting in your way and also draining you, whacking you all over the place. After you burn the plants you then sit in a meditation circle and stat the light creature collection part, where you have you collect the spirits of lights creatures on the ground or in the air, while avoiding crabs and swirling shards, until the icon for the task fills up. But for these you get ascended candles as a reward and a chance to visit a shard memory (From season of shattering) where there could be a winged light to claim and add to your wing strength.

I honestly don’t know a lot about how that’s set up. There are rules, it’s not fully random. And there are a couple of different “formats” that the levels can use. But I think after that it is actually random, so it shouldn’t be exactly the same twice.

I mentioned it in here earlier, but this is definitely a really fun season! I really like the music progression and the feel of the music itself. It does so much to each beat action and moment during the lantern mending process.
I think it would be interesting for the first part or something similar to play when players want to remain inside the lantern after mending

lol hello everyone. I'm grateful to you all for playing the season . I know this season is a bit different from what we have historically done in the past - it's helpful for us to always try new things like things both to allow us to express yourselves in different ways, to grow, but also to keep Sky fresh. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. We said from the beginning of the season that not everyone was going to be into it (Season of Prophecy was also niche), but we certainly tried to make it as accessible and enjoyable as possible. All your feedback both positive and negative is immensely helpful as we figure out how this went and what we may learn from this moving forward!

We always try to do this yes! But this time around we focused on a kind of repeatable gameplay-forward approach which we do only occasionally (Season of Prophecy being the earliest example). All seasons have gameplay but we wanted to make a season that was like a less sweaty, more collaborative Trials

There is indeed a new daily lantern at reset - we tried our best to make sure each lantern was a different enough experience (gameplay and visuals). The other new thing we wanted to try for this season was make something that changed regularly. We have so much in Sky that never changes (that can be awesome) but filling in the day-to-day experience with a little novelty can help for when you're looking for something to mix things up. I don't imagine this will be everyone's "thing" moving forward, but nothing ever will be. Hopefully for those who like/need that sort of thing this can help scratch that itch

i don't think the lantern interior is prone to server merges. if you toggle airplane mode on and off after starting the activity, you may be able to put yourself in an empty server so you can do it alone

I was also designer on Passage! These are both seasons exploring social play. One thing we wanted to be really careful of this time was players feeling salty if they feel "I'm doing all the work - you're just using me to get light." By having most of the light available out in the world for collection, it means at the very least you have to be making an effort to fly around to collect it. Luckily, that's what you have to do to find fragments of the crystal anyway, so you wind up participating naturally. Otherwise, I'm sure we would get people AFKing on the main platform after spawning in while other players go out and lightmend the lantern (which would feel bad!)

Totally devastated and fully in "how can we fix this" mode. You know you work so hard for so long on something and then all of a sudden an issue no one ever experienced during all of testing somehow affects everyone on a specific platform. It's heartbreaking. It took several of us nearly the whole day of collaborating and debugging to finally find a fix. Platform-specific bugs are notoriously difficult to debug because it means they are caused by platform-specific ways of doing very low level things. For example, we had a desync issue a while back where PC or Switch (I don't remember) was not syncing with other platforms. @buoyant valley eventually found that that specific platform swapped the order of Vector3 randomization. So everywhere else went X->Y->Z but that platform went X->Z->Y. Hard to communicate how wild that is. That kind of thing is so hidden and obfuscated that you really have to dig down to find a solution. Anyway after an entire day of collaborative work trying to find out just what PC was doing differently, the fix for this season wound up being...............rotating the model by 1 degree! Game development really can get crazy sometimes.

Yeah we also wanted to give players like you, who can already do things effectively, the opportunity to lightmend in "hard mode" by giving you the option to lightmend without any devices if you so desired. So this is something you may choose to do if you're not on a quest

That's actually a really good insight! I'm glad that it's made in a way that players would actually scavenge hunt , whether be it the wax or just the fragments. Flying around the map that changes daily definitely adds some novelty to the daily kind of gameplay

Honestly I can see how afk-ers can pose a huge problem to the social game. I would've feel terrible for doing all the work for sleeping players on the main platform, which is a HUGE issue for grandma

Really glad that the devs are very careful about that aspect

Question on the light mender thing it says repair the daily lantern but it’s the same two lanterns. Do you just choose one until the new quest is open or do you just wait until the new quest does it help you to do anything to do the daily one and repeat it? I know you get candle wax from one of them, but does it do anything else? I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be doing it daily or only when the new thing comes up unless I want wax.

The lantern is the space you enter, it changes every day. The quests unlock tools you can use in the lantern. You don’t have to do it daily unless you want wax

Muscle memory using the switch makes me able to fly without looking at the controller however since the a/b x/y is swapped when the game said touch a i end up touching b instead
