After coming together from all parts of the US to host our first Sky Assembly yesterday, the North American Community Development team went to a nearby aquarium and met and fed little sugar munching parrots. It felt lot like we were being chased down by tiny, cute krill - only instead of trying to steal our light, they wanted little cups of sugar 🦜

Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday. It was so nice to meet and spend the day with all of you! If you were unable to attend, we hope to meet you at another Sky Assembly someday

Hard to believe that the two weeks of celebrating Sky’s 3rd birthday will be wrapped up soon—the party hat krill, Secret Level parties, screenshot and emoji challenges, livestreams, not to mention (most memorable for me personally) our first in-person gatherings at Sky Assemblies held in the U.S. and South Korea.

Thank you for being such an awesome community to celebrate with and be part of! Your fanart and stories inspire us, your (frankly brilliant) videos and memes make us rofl, and the encouragement you've sent in over the last three years has meant more to each of us than I could ever hope to fit into a letter.

Hello everyone! This introduction is seriously overdue, but I promise that I have a really good excuse for my tardiness. Please accept my sincerest apologies for lurking in the shadows for so long

My name is Nakoa (formally nicknamed Michang for those of you who pay close attention) and I’m so happy to finally say ‘hi’ to you all and be a part of this wonderful community! My pronouns are she/her/they/them.

I officially joined TGC Player Support a few months ago and have been hard-at-work building and improving the Player Protection program to ensure that Sky remains a safe and wholesome home for everyone to enjoy and create positive, meaningful connections together!

My professional background includes leading anti-cheat initiatives for AAA game titles, addressing less-than-wholesome in-game behaviors to support safe, fair, and fun gaming experiences, and designing policies to protect player privacy, security, and safety.

Having been involved in many different gaming communities over the last 15 years, I cannot express how unique and wonderful the Sky community has been to witness and experience. Each and every one of you helps make Sky just that much brighter and an absolute delight to play!

While I am sure some of you may be eager to reach out to me with reports or feedback, I’d like to assure you all of the current channels for reporting inappropriate behavior or cheating in Sky are the most effective methods for us to properly investigate and address (in-game player reports and Sky Support site issues). Additionally, any reportable behaviors here on Discord should continue to be reported through the established channels as well (please see #rules if you’re unsure where to go!).

Due to the nature of my work, much of my time will be spent working diligently in the background, but I promise not to spend too much time hiding in the shadows away from you all! I’m so happy and grateful for this opportunity to contribute to the very worthy cause of protecting Sky and all you beautiful Skykids, and I promise to always do my best to earn and keep your trust in me and our dedicated team here at TGC!

I'm deeya, a ui/ux product designer at TGC! while most of my work doesn't directly involve working on Sky, I help design the tools to support the rest of our teams! however, more recently, I was able to help design the new in-game calendar in Sky.

I only recently did my first Eden run, and since then, I've been having a lot of fun exploring all that the game has to offer : D the Sky community motivates me and inspires me every day.

Hello! I’m Andy, and I’ve been with thatgamecompany for a couple years now as a Sr. UI/UX Product Designer. @rocky meteor and I collaborate often, bringing ease-of-use to tools for those who bring Sky to you all.

Once in a blue moon I also lend a hand on Sky, such as the in-game News 📰 and more recently… you guessed it: the Calendar! It was super fun working w/ Deeg and many others at TGC on it, and it’s been very meaningful to see your reactions thus far.

I wanted to work for TGC ever since my first game design courses in school — we even studied Cloud. Over a decade into my design career, I’m still learning new things and feel very fortunate to do so here. It’s been inspiring to see this community grow from a new perspective, and humbling to now serve it.

My favorite place to visit in Sky is Prairie Peaks , and I will never grow tired of landing in the wild flowers of Butterfly Fields (Flower holds a very special place in my heart). 🌷

My name is Ben, pronouns they/them. I'm a gameplay engineer at TGC, hired just this year in June! It's been an incredible place to work at so far. It's been my lifelong dream to create games and other virtual experiences that inspire and engage people, so having the chance to do so with a game like Sky has been wonderful. Everyone at TGC has been warm and welcoming, and I'm excited to interact with a community with the same vibes whenever I've got the chance!

Happy Timezones Sky kids!

You may have noticed that my title changed in Discord from "Live Tech Lead" to "Senior Manager, Cloud", but what does that mean for you all?

Basically, my scope is increasing in many ways. In my previous role my focus was on major bugs: how we as a studio could fix or mitigate them, and how we would handle them if they made it into a release. This required a lot of collaboration with a lot of teams, and we've made some great strides that will continue to be pushed forward by myself and others in the studio.

In my new role I'll be managing our Cloud teams and working with them to improve how we engineer and operate the services and infrastructure that make Sky possible. Essentially, taking what we learned and applied in LiveOps for Sky and adapting them for the benefit of our cloud architecture.

I will still be around in Discord to help clarify technical issues to players and be another advocate for addressing bugs you all report to us. That won't change. What will change is that I'll also have the ability to more directly influence addressing bugs and features which originate in our cloud architecture.

I hope you are all enjoying the world of Sky and look forward to hanging out in Discord with you all very soon!

Hello Sky friends! I'm Kyle and I'm Gameplay Engineer and Engineering Team Manager here at TGC. You may say ok and ask what do you actually do? I think it varies a lot and everyday seems like a new day so it can be hard to define. I sorta somehow sit in the middle between management, design, and engineering at this point and I try to help in anyway I personally can. Also some of you may have seen me a couple of times on the livestreams 😁

I think however for me as an outdoorsman and nature lover I am most passionate about making the world of Sky feel alive and vibrant. I work on all sorts of interactive systems that everyone who plays will find and hopefully have fun with. Things like all of the life found in the world including the AI for the butterflies, birds, mantas, crabs, and krill (dark dragon) and even the plant life like the dark plants and light shrooms. Yes I am the proud father of the and !

I also help a lot on adding to the different seasons including working on the daily quests for every season, the umbrella and piggyback for the previous season of Lightseekers, and the bonfire for the current season of Belonging. I have fun working on Sky

I'd like to personally thank everyone in the community (both Beta and Live) for being so friendly, supportive, positive, and patient (with our bugs!) the entire time our game has been available. Actually I have never seen such an amazing community of players on any game. You positively inspire me everyday to do my best to make Sky a better experience for all. This is Tina Lu, the Senior Data Analyst at TGC who is in charge of analytic works and thrives to create more positive emotional impacts to our players. My work includes monitoring our general game health, evaluating friendship quality, studying player social/solo behaviors, analyze marketing performance , and generate insights that facilitate our decision makings.

Personally, I've always been a fan of TGC after I played Journey. I joined the studio in 2019 Nov and started playing Sky since the game launch (originally on China's server and now on global!) I'd say I'm a casual Sky player who enjoys spending most of my time observing and playing instruments along with other players 🎹 . I want to take this chance to thank everyone who played Sky and contribute back to the community by giving feedbacks, helping new players creating magic moments, and being supportive to each other. I have never seen such a great and supportive community like this. I am frequently fascinated and surprised by lots of pieces made by great Sky musicians, artists and creative video editors. I'm sure some of you could be the future famous artist/director/script writer

If you have finished the story, I hope you had encountered at least one unique friendship, had been rewarded from giving, and had been intrigued by ||the meaning of death and rebirth||. If you have not been through the last gate, I promise you, the story behind that door is worth the effort. Lastly, I want to further evangelize our studio's philosophy that we want to foster a positive community where it's not valued around the people spend the most time in the game will be the most rewarded but people who have the most respect from the other players will be the most stand-out kind players. I hope everyone is staying as happy and healthy as they can during this pandemic. I am very fortunate to be able to work from home, but not everyone has had that luxury. My heart goes out to them, and everyone's friends and family who are being impacted by all this.

On a happier note. I get to spend more time with my amazing wife, cooking homemade meals each day together, and watching shows with our fuzzy old man cat, Fritz. He's 17 🤯 and continues to remind us who is boss 😝 around here.

Scott here. Animator on this little game we call sky. I don’t want to be a broken record, but seeing how all of you react and build upon what we are making here is the best part of making this game. I might not write much in here, but I’m poking around seeing what all of you have to say and are even creating yourselves. It gets me excited to make more things for you all to play with. I was simply a fan of TGC games and started Sky on the iOS world release day. From the first sound, image, and move, my heart fell in love with this game. I used to work in professions nothing to do with gaming industries; thus, I'm not really an expert here so I'm still learning everyday. Thank you all for being my teacher

I usually stay inside the Eastern island with followers of Japanese official Sky account, but do read your discussion, hear your suggestions, and watch arts, screenshots, videos posted here. I've been amazed how talented and generous this community is, that you all create such a family friendly atmosphere and always are willing to help each other. Hey everyone Since I joined the community team this month, it's time for introductions! I’ll be working behind the scenes to keep ThatHelpBot helpful and make sure all your feedback gets gathered so that we can continue to grow together and make the game as awesome as it can be.

I’ve been a fan of TGC games since I first played Journey (check it out if you haven’t already!), which made it that much more awesome to begin playing Sky when it launched. It’s wonderful being part of this community as it has blossomed and carried the spirit of Sky into other online and real-life spaces. I’m thrilled to work with such an active, caring, positive community, and I look forward to seeing how we keep growing and welcoming in new players in 2021!

Hi everyone! My turn to introduce myself. I joined the TGC community team this month, and am excited to work alongside everyone to make Sky and this community shine like the gems they are.

I’ve been a part of the greater Sky community, avid player, and fan of Sky for over a year, and I am very happy I can move into this new area to help you and connect with you more. I tend to spend most of my Sky time exploring and taking pictures of the beautiful views. My kids laugh at me that I have more pictures of Sky than of them in my phone. I just can’t help myself. Don't even get me started on all the shenanigans with the Krill. I love those guys. So angry, but so adorable.

I've always loved the Sky community. We are so diverse, accepting, and so much like family. I really hope that our journey together, making the community and Sky the most amazing place to be, is full of joy and light. Let's Fly Skyds!!

Hey Sky folks, I apologize on behalf of dark dragons for scaring you!

I’m Ritsu, lead audio designer at TGC. Audio creation for Sky was a long journey to me and still ongoing and expanding. Sometimes it’s challenging but this community always give me the energy to go on. I have worked on many games but never seen such a powerful community. Game audio is usually not so noticeable but amazingly many people here are talking about audio! I’m too shy to socialize here so often, but I can’t help but looking for reactions when we release new instruments, emotes or levels haha! 😆 Regardless of positive or negative, any kinds of feedback are inspirational to me to make Sky audio better. The kindness and empathy that so many of you share on a daily basis has been an inspiration for me ever since I first joined this server in 2019. During 2020, those qualities have made an even bigger difference as I've seen folks support and help one another during tough times and heartache. Today is a big day for everyone at the studio so I wanted to share why it’s special to me. I remember when I was a kid, I would play games on my Nintendo 64 and imagine being in those magical places. I remember feeling amazed at how endless those worlds felt. I remember feeling that someone made everything I saw for me. That a bunch of people got together and created a game, an experience, just for me. That I was the last link in this incredibly long chain and got to experience this amazing story and place because of it. I felt so grateful and lucky. Today, a kid somewhere will play Sky on their Switch and hopefully have the same experience with their own Nintendo console. Only this time, I’ll be on the other end. And I will still feel so grateful and lucky. Thank you for playing Sky, being an amazing community, sharing your beautiful art, and of course, providing me with hilarious memes. ❤️ I am grateful to YOU! ❤️

This is Miren, the Japanese Community Manager here at TGC. It´s been a few months since I joined the team, but I'm constantly amazed by the world of Sky, the team and especially the community for your passion and thoughtfulness. Long before I ever thought I would be a designer, the games ‘Flower’ and ‘Journey’ changed my life. It was not long after, while I was flying in the world of Sky, that I decided that one day I would focus all my energy in designing games and spreading the message of kindness and positivity that I experienced in Sky. 


All I can say is thank you for your kindness, for being an amazing community full of talented and inspiring people and for making the world of Sky what it is today . I hope our journey together is full of light and crazy flying maneuvers.

Hello friends! My name is Wes, and I’m a newly-hired Gameplay Engineer at TGC.

I just wanted to pop in here and offer the warmest possible ‘hello’ and ‘thank you’ to all of you for making Sky what it is today; y’all are by miles the most positive, supportive, and just plain fun video game community I’ve ever had the pleasure of being a part of, and I am honored and humbled to be able to take on a creative developer role with the lovely company behind this wonderful game. I’ve wanted to work for TGC ever since Journey made me cry my absolute eyes out in 2012, so—like many others in this channel—this is nothing short of a dream-come-true for me.

We have lots of fun stuff we’re cooking up that we can’t wait to share with you! I hope to see you all across the realms of Sky, and if you see a goggled chibi gremlin kidnapping crabs to drop in the Sanctuary geyser, that’s probably me. (Crabs make the soup taste better, y'know...) 🍜

Hello friends!

It’s time for me to spread my wings and depart for the next leg of my journey. Tomorrow will be my last day with the thatgamecompany team.

And what a special, action-packed ride these last three years have been! Truly, what a privilege it is to get to work with one of the most wholesome, creative communities out there.

Watching Sky go from an unreleased game to the thriving community it is will forever be cherished in my memories. When I first launched this Discord server, we were actually so nervous! It seems silly now but we were actually worried that nobody would join and it wouldn’t be very fun.

You all inspire me so much! From the reactions to seasonal spirit reveals and event trailers, to all of the passionate feedback and hopes for what Sky could be; to the hundreds of beautiful fanart pieces and Sky memes that I used to print out and tape to the wall behind my desk at work; to the hilarious Sky videos and TikToks that have me cracking up constantly. Together, we started something awesome and helped build a space that has helped and will continue to help other players feel accepted and safe. Sky is what it is today because the kind of people who want to stay here and make others feel appreciated. I have loved that the most about Sky.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my job not feel like a job. Thank you for making me feel loved while I worked here, and for all your “who’s making these videos?!” social media comments that made me and our two Video Artists crack up behind-scenes (P.S. The ribbon chibi with the beard is the Skykid I claimed as my fav!).

While I am leaving TGC, I am not leaving Sky and will continue to stick around as a player, though! I hope our paths cross again and we meet in the skies.
