at the end of the day, you just really want to know if its more worthwhile to buy 5e (not 5.5e) to use primarily to play online on dndbeyond vtt or roll20
DND Beyond is the official server so my personal opinion and source is there. I do use roll20 for maps only as i am FAR more used to it
Hello im new to dnd played only 2 oneshots would anyone seasoned be interested in checking my character idea in dm’s to see if its okay?
Feel free to share it here or in #character-discussion for feedback!
Thank youuu
Hello, I'm new to dnd and have played like 1-2 one shot campaigns but it was years ago. Anyone open to walk me through roll20 character creation?
Hello, please correct me if i'm wrong. Ability checks - difficulty classes table is provided to DM as a reference point but NOT as a hard inflexible rule? Or does every task suppose to be fit crammed in to these 6 categories of exact rolls?
That chart is a guideline, not a hard rule. The DM can set a DC at any number they like.
yeah im tired of constantly being cramed in 10s and 15s exact rolls.. well not to much suffering left..
Just to clear something up, by “exact rolls”, do you mean only allowing a success only when the roll total equals the target number?
Just in case, a DC is beaten by a roll total equal to or higher than the target value
I have done oneshots and currently watching minmaxed sessions on dnd
they just started it, so going with them
Is there anyone who can kinda guide me and or show me the ropes of dnd

Thanks a bunch
sup and good to know, kinda also hopped in out of curiosity
i mean that an easy task is only 10 then medium task is only 15. there are no numbers like 8;9;12;13 etc. no vigle space, and often not much logic, but thats another story.
Hi there. Newbie around here, did the reading. Curious if any online stuff happens here open to beginners
Can always check out #looking-for-community or #looking-for-players
Can anyone recommend me a class and a race for a character for a one shot, I only have played as human, a Paladin or a fighter but I want to use something else than that, I'm still new so I don't know which one can be a good option
Did you want to play a martial or caster?
How can I play guys I am totally new to this

Try this @dry skiff ^
Try what?
maybe martial, a caster would be too much for me to remember probably
Nwnw, what level is it for?
I don't remeber, I think it's for level 5 or so
Could go barb if youre wanting an easier time for mechanics or alternatively go rogue if you wanna do some damage and be good at skills
Maybe for a rouge, I want to have good skills
Sounds good, have fun 😁

Welcome. You should give #learn-to-play and the rules linked above a look! Feel free to ask any specific questions.
Thank you
Do you have any advice?
Plenty, but you'll have to be more specific!
I just downloaded the app Dnd beyond and created a monk character
And at first I tried to custom made
But it looks complicated like the hp there's like a hp limit and other things and I don't wanna make a too much OP character
Follow the steps in the basic rules. Maybe try a PDF sheet instead of D&D Beyond. You should wind up with something that can't be OP; plus, without a DM, you're making a practice character anyway!
But honestly I got interested in Dnd because of videos and some friends told me about it, so I wanna try playing a game with other players
You'll stand a better chance of finding folks to play with if you review the rules. Ask questions when you have them and folks will chime in as they're able. It is late where I am, though, so I'm signing off. Good luck!
Hey guys I’ve heard some things about DND and I feel like getting into it like I love the roleplay feature, I’m actually thinking of role playing a 40k space marine or talion from shadow of Mordor. So where should I start
how do I even find peeps tp play with lol
Yoo we could play if all we need is a dm
I do like the way you think Cap. Im at work now so I wont be able to play now . i was just dipping my toe in the ater
water
Reading through the rules is always a good start. Check out #learn-to-play for free rules and other useful resources 😎
#find-a-game has instructions for the server's channels for finding people to play with
Same i just got home from work finna sleep fr just wanted to try and see what I could fine before I do
appreciate you
Hi, I'm new to the D&D overall set up. I did look through some of the basic but still wondering are D&D character must work around the classes and fantasy themed?
Like, if there is modern world/ sci-fi etc themed doesn't work
hewo
Some people do try to make scifi / modern games with dnd and you might be able to find some (spelljammer is not necessarily scifi, but it is dnd in space at least as an official setting) but yeah the system is heavily based around magic and fantasy. You could flavor lot of the stuff, such as magic flavored as futuristic gadgets etc. but at the same time some things can become more difficult to work with
To jump off of Saragonvoid, D&D is made to service a classical heroic fantasy first and foremost. Certain official settings tag on additional themes (e.g. Eberron is Noir, Forgotten Realms is Swords & Sorcery, Spelljammer is roughly Space Opera).
With reflavoring you can use D&D to service any kind of setting you want, but that doesn't mean it will do so in a satisfactory way. The further you get from heroic fantasy the larger the ludonarrative gap will be between what you can do mechanically and what the narrative hallmarks say you should be able to do.
As an example, D&D doesn't do Cyberpunk settings well. You could reflavor magic as tech, swords into vibroweapons, etc but the system will lack features for things you may want like cybernetics, robust firearms, etc. You can always homebrew mechanics to bridge the gap, but that's a lot of extra work that isn't guaranteed to work well.
In short, if you want to play a campaign where the setting and themes are far away from what D&D is made to handle try looking at other TTRPTGs that are designed to service those themes.
Ooh wowie i see, thank for the explanation
Hi all, i am very new to DnD, i have family that play but always have a full campaign its never worked out. super keen to give it a try. 🙂
If you're already familiar with the rules:
Check the listings in #looking-for-players for games that want people, read the details, respond as appropriate and cross your fingers.
Type /looking and select the option for #looking-for-dm to advertise yourself as a new player in search of a group. Be sure to include your regular availability!
There are other Discord servers where people gather for games. You can find them in #looking-for-community .
Aside from here, you could also try LFG areas in sites like Reddit, Roll20 or the D&D Beyond forums to get started.
If you don't know the rules, try having a read through the first couple of sections of the Free Rules to get a grasp of the terminology, then have a go at putting a character together for practice.
You'll need to pick a class, species and background. Let us know if you have any questions!
anyone in ireland playing? Looking as a player and i just moved here. Ive played twice before but years ago. Would love to find a group!
Sorry, not in ireland.
I'm newer to D&D, though I've played "D&D" with my dad but without all of the complicated elements. I want to get better with the numbers and stuff, though I don't really understand them all. I'm hoping to DM someday, since I love that stuff. If someone could help me study or so I would really appreciate it.
If you’d like to use this server to find a group to play with the instructions are in #find-a-game !
If you had any newbie-oriented questions this is the place to ask. If you wanted DM-centric advice I’d check out #dm-discussion and #dm-world-building depending on the nature of the advice you’re looking for
For an in-person game you're best off looking for boardgame shops, hobby shops, school groups, libraries and social sites like Facebook.
Can a learned caster (bard, sorc, etc) cast a ritual they learned?
All classes can cast as rituals. In the old rules only specific classes could, but they changed that.
Hello!! I'm super new to dnd (well except for a few mechanics that I know of.) currently planning to play with irl friends but we have no idea how to start since all of us are also new. I volunteered to be a DM to a campaign that's entirely set in the berserk world, any tips of ideas on what to do?

Welcome! The best place to start is with the free Basic Rules, linked in the bot post above. As you're giving them a read, we'll be happy to answer any specific questions you have here in this chat.
Splendid! I'll take note of it!
Echoing DOSH: it's important to be familiar with the rules, at least in the broad strokes. (And everyone will make mistakes, so don't sweat that happening; just use it as a learning opportunity.)
The link DOSH sent also contains some solid DM advice in addition to info about playing the game. I also really love this guide (https://howtogm.guide/) as a DM supplement.
I DM my first session last night as a complete newbie and it was hard. for referance i am doing the "curse of the strahd" and when opening the book it made no sense. i thought it would be a step by step story but theres so much going on and i have no clue how to make it into a story. im doing the death house to start with but then where do i go from ther. how do i level up my players, and how do i lead them on the right path. i have a few weeks break until the next session so i can prepare the campaign a little better any tips would be great
Unfortunately, Curse of Strahd is notoriously quite a difficult adventure to run.
We can't really talk about the specifics in adventures in this chat, though. I'd recommend heading over to #1029833015423143957 and locating the CoS thread and asking there.
ok thank you

Hello! I wanted to play D&D like forever, but being completely honest, I do not know anything about it, like, for real. I wanted someone to lead me here and help me with this, as my friends and I wanted to start a campaign and we do not know anything, what to buy, what to do, how to start. And when I meant I do not know anything, I'm being completely honest, I just know the general things about it, as normie will know. Please, help me!

I have recently taken on the role as DM for the first time for a group at my school, but I don't know many of the rules if I'm being honest (about combat skills and such)
I already have a full story and made a battlemap for their first battle, would love to know if anyone knew a beginner friendly book online that can teach me the basics ^^
The basic rules linked above are the place to start. If you're looking for a simplified version, skim over the first few pages to Peril in Pinebrook: https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1625-peril-in-pinebrook-a-free-introductory-adventure
It omits a bunch, however, so do keep that in mind!
Hi I am new to DND and thought I might want to start getting out in communities so I joined. Plus I love dnd so.
Welcome!
Hello! My names’s Phoenix, I’m new here and just had a quick question. I’m generally familiar with most of the rules for the game but haven’t actually been able to play anything quite yet. Does anyone have recommendations for what kinds of games to look for in #looking-for-players ? Like keywords to pay attention to or something like that?
Unfortunately, we can't tell you what kinds of things you'll gel with! Look for ones that line up with your schedule and have a premise that interests you. Then ask questions!
So it doesn’t matter too much if there’s something I don’t understand super well in the description?
It might, but one of the secrets to the game is it runs on communication. So when you're confused, speak up! If that's enough to get you rejected, that's probably a bullet dodged on your part!
Awesome, thank you!
My recommendation in general is to avoid games that seem to rely heavily on homebrew or are based in worlds from media like TV shows, video games, or comics.
I'd also avoid any game that looks like it's recruiting for 6 or more players.
While games like the above can certainly be lots of fun, they're not something I'd recommend to a new player.
Two tips I use and follow, based on experience 😛
- Watch out for games where the game time is "set by the party / decided by the party", the schedule has a good chance to never work out, especially longer the game goes on. Games where the game time is set before the players join will have people joining that are able to make the same time
- Games where the DM actually goes through the applicants instead of picking people by first-come-first-serve -bases are generlaly gonna have a better group, instead of randoms who just happened to see the post first, so don't feel discouraged even if the post already has a bunch of applicants, and just do your best to stand out 😎
staples a muffin to the application
It's good practice to tell a prospective DM why you want to be part of their game. What you're looking forward to, how the particulars appeal to you.
Aside from being a bit of flattery to smooth the path, writing it out makes you think about what you want from a game. Being able to articulate your anticipation is an essential part of sharing expectations and can help form a group that all want to play the same game together.
I'm a first time dm with very little experience in dnd, the only reason I am the DM is because everyone else in my group who wants to play has just as little experience as me. That being said writing the plot points and creating a story is not my problem. But I would love advice on how to tackle balancing combat encounters, how to come up with fun adventures during our campaign, and how to balance how much gold and magic items my players will find. Any tips and reference to resources would be much appreciated. I am on a rather tight budget so free resources are preferred
You're in luck, as the Basic Rules contain a DM Section and also include a section on encounter building.
If that table seems daunting, there are 3rd party resources like Kobold Fight Club that make the building interactive.
Awesome, thank you
They only get them as special one-off Mystic Arcanums. They don't get spell slots above 5
Why are there level 9 spells in the phb
As Ratatoskr said, warlocks can cast such spells through their mystic arcanums. So it's a special kind of spellcasting that doesn't consume spell slots.
if you look at the warlock class table, you'll see mystic arcanums for spell levels 6 to 9
Oh, then you're likely already familiar with quite a lot of the warlock idiosyncrasies, such as getting their spell slots back on a short rest.
The mystic arcanums are different, in that you only get them back on a long rest. But that's understandeable, as spells from 6 to 9 are very powerful and getting them back the normal warlock way would be too good.
bg3 warlocks also use lv6 spells via arcanum
it's the exact same system, you learn one spell, you can use it once per long rest
I'm new to DND and new to discord as well. Any tips for getting started? Not sure I'm ready to join any games, but just want to start learning more, exploring, etc. Thanks in advance!

Thank you! Are there any "fly on the wall" scenarios to observe a game in action in real time?
Not very many folks do this, but there are youtube videos and some folks will live stream on Twitch (and probably other live stream platforms)
👌🏼👍🏼 appreciate it!
What's the difference between the Player Handbooks for 2024. One has a giant troll thing and the other has a dragon
Both 2024/5.5e PHBs have gold dragons on the cover (one is the standard edition and the other is a limited alternate). Are you maybe looking at the 2014 PHB?

:>
Im so glad I chose to go paladin because I see our sorcerer doing math at least 2 times in his turn its scary
whats a recommended order for buying the rulebooks?
Wsp guys im very new to D&D so can anyone help me?
Start with the free rules - if you like the game well enough then the Players Handbook is a good one to get.

Thanks
ive already got the 5e of phb
#learn-to-play hi I am new to DND and have only played one 30 min game in my life i have seen videos of the game and would hopefully be able to get to the level where i can dungeon masters but i thought it be best to do a basic dnd campaign first to get by Barings is any one doing one?
If you’d like to use this server to find a game the instructions are in #find-a-game !
Never heard of it before, what's it from?
google website
Shard is a virtual tabletop and no, it's not malware: https://www.shardtabletop.com/
That said, it's a 3rd party VTT solution and that's a better topic for #third-party
Do note that Shard is not officially licensed meaning they can only offer what's available via the free rules and System Reference Document (SRD).
Hey everyone! I'm completely new and have never played before. I wondered if theres anyone who wouldnt mind pulling a newbie with them and explaining all the diffrent things. I read and watch a lot but i dont think that will get me verry far unless i start to play aswell 🙂

How do ya’ll play? If online is available I’d be able to ask a DM some questions.
If not, what does a local game store look like?
so far i have come already, i watched quite a few videos about the caracter creation and then used the webside (dnd beyond) but some things feel like i can only do them once i have fond a DM which...i havent 😅
What kind of things?
Check the listings in #looking-for-players for games that want people, read the details, respond as appropriate and cross your fingers.

Well, there is different "Sources" i can pick and equipment is also a little bit confusing me.
atleast on that page
Start off with the Basic Rules (linked above) and use that to make your choices, then feed them into Beyond to build your character.
For equipment you'll get two choices from your class and background: either starting gold to spend as you like, or a default starter package which covers the basics.
If you do pick your own, limit your choices to what's found here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024/equipment
Just because Beyond lists antimatter rifles and fabulous magical items doesn't mean you can start with them!
okay thanks so much! ill try to start with that then. And after its just to find a group that wants to take me along right?
Pretty much! And you don't have to use the first character you make, either. Many groups prefer to make characters together to ensure cohesion, fitting with one another, the setting and the premise of the campaign. You could have an idea for a bold seafarer but that might not work well in a game exploring haunted ruins in an ashen desert.
One other thing: it's recommended to use the Standard Array method for your ability scores to begin with. Avoid odd numbers where you can, and never put Constitution lower than 10.
Head over to #character-discussion when you have something to share and folk there can assist with feedback. Good luck!
thanks so much!
Thank you Brochacho😎👍
Hello I'm new
Howdy. What are you looking for?
I'm here to uh... I'm kinda text with bad eng
I would like to know about Milestone I'm really wondering and doubt what it can do?
Milestone advancement is an alternative to experience points. Rather than getting a number that adds up with foes defeated and encounters overcome, characters achieve milestones with their actions.
It's a way to reduce the counting while still providing a framework for when the party levels up.
Milestones are like achievements in video games. Beat a boss, discover a secret, make a name for yourselves as heroes? Those can all count.
Oh Thank you so much! 😄
im like really new and wanna get in to it can anyone tell me the basics?
Start here -> #learn-to-play
hello I'm new, but, yeah I have some basic knowledge about this game.
and I'm really into it
well that's good
Good morning :>
morning
How are you?
coffee-ing. so doing well
Hey! I think i know most of the mechanics of the game and would absolutely love to join a group
you can check out #find-a-game and read up on how to find one on this server
Hello, brand new to DnD, I got hooked by watching an online session with ytbers I followed. I create my character and run some alone stuff to see how it goes, but it's not as flavorful as doing a real session.
My question is : the character is a grung artificer (alchemist), I made him really curious, careful and analytic. How can I integrate a group and not look like the player that slow everyone down and get disliked ?
don't let the Grung touch anyone.
at least not without using leather gloves or something.
I'd do a mix of comedy/silliness with just quick roleplay here and there to not slowdown the party, an example would be him going "omigosh what is this?? It's a door? (Gasp) what do doors do? (tastes the door) mmm no not food"
People won't really mind stuff like that if it's funny and/or quick and not slowing or hindering the group ykwim?
I played him in the solo run, like someone that right everything down that he finds interesting, and as an future alchemist, especially collecting stuff and experimenting mix of ingredients. He's more like : "Oh, it's a slime.. the slime looks gelatinous, what if I try acid potion.... mmh, not efficient, maybe fire ? Oh ! Really good write it down"
He have common sense of what is a door or a trap or anything common
different tables have different games. not every character fits at every table, but there's a table out there that will jive with how you want to play.
Okay okay ! I've watched some videos, and I know that the typical "running head first into everything" is not my things. I love to explore and use the world as tools before engaging direct combat
search for Padmund, as played by BLeeM.
small frog scout, i don't think he's a grung though. i'm not saying to play like that, but it might give you some ideas on how to interact with party members and the world
that, and Padmund is a child.
My grung is young but not a child ^^ 18-19yo in human-age
just give your character three goals. a short term goal, one that gives a reason to join up to a party that can be resolved in a few sessions, a long term goal that gives your character a reason to stay with a party for several months at least, and a lifetime goal that your character wants to achieve and would resolve the character's need to adventure and bring about retirement.
I have short term and long term goals, only need a medium one 😃
Thx, my happy lil guy will found the secrets of alchemy, and help everyone he could help using that knowledge
Yeah hi welcome! Only being able to play weekends is quite common. And group types depends if you're into in person dnd or VTT
Whatever suits you. Perhaps a community server that doesn't have a fixed schedule, or a play by post game where everyone doesn't necessarily need to be there at the same time.
Whart channel should I go to for lfg in though, and, as I mentioned previously idk how things work around here 😭💥 I’m a bit worried I won’t be able to follow what’s going on if I just hop on a random server 💥💀
Take a breath, don't worry, looking is free.
Also there's the #find-a-game channel. Though as he said chill out a little bit no one is gonna judge for you being new
Hmmmmm ok thx 😋💥 I wheel concider, though are there any specific type of server/ sessions I should look for as a “completely new to DND person” 🤔
Avoid the ones that say "experienced players only." Also what Dosh said.
Coolio 😋👍
Hey guys, I'm a new DM and I've been doing the unwelcomed spirits campaign. I'm curious how others have handled adding Morgid, the hobgoblin scout into the party. I've just been using a token and using a hobgoblin token at that. But I got to thinking, what about other NPCs that may join the party or should this be how I handled it to begin with.
Should I have created a character sheet and added Morgid into the party as a character?
Does the adventure specify what statblock to use for Morgid? It's pretty common to reference the statblock via bolding in the text itself. Just as an example: "Morgid (kobold) is a brave soul who..."
If the adventure doesn't give a statblock, you have a few choices: use an existing statblock for whatever feels right (maybe Morgid is more of a commoner!) or a sidekick statblock (in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything). But I would recommend not adding NPCs to the party for combat purposes unless you have a really solid reason for doing so.
We have #dm-discussion for this sort of conversation, FYI!
Yes, the book says to specifically use the hobgoblin stat block. There's a bit of controversy on the hobgoblin stat block or the scout stat block but I just chose the hobgoblin stat block.
Morgid has to do a DC 15 survival check each morning to make sure the party isn't lost, and does enter combat with the party. There's a mechanic where if he loses a certain amount of HO he basically flees and ditched the group completely..
Maybe I'll post the question on the DM discussions page!!
And to your other question, I wouldn't give any NPC a character sheet. Just use the closest statblock instead.
Okay, cool. I just added the stat block as a token and use that. Then add the token into combat each time an encounter happens. But got to thinking about if the party levels how does the box level too and so on lol
My two cents: an NPC shouldn't be traveling with the party long enough to level up, generally. Nor do they need to level at all. If you do want them to level, however, there are rules for that in the sidekick section of Tasha's.
sidekicks are a great way to have temporary access to something the party is lacking. go back to town, drop off a sidekick and pick up a different one you think you might need.
Could someone help me figure out how the soulknife rogue subclass works in terms of increasing the damage to the psychic blades as thrown weapons?
Would it be reasonable to say:
1 CP = $1
1 SP = $10
1 GP = $100
from a rough conversion standpoint to new players?
the base damage die increases as you level; otherwise the relevant feat is Bomber if you need more range
1gp is more like a couple hundred usd IIRC
tha-thats what i just said?
I think it'd be more like
Copper: penny
Silver: dime
Gold: dollar
Atleast from a point to put into perspective how much each piece is worth
$100 != 500~700
Just my interpretation though
oh couple hundred, my bad, misread
when converting, yes. 10 coppers is a silver. 10 silvers is a gold.
an unskilled laborer's wages are 2sp per 8 hour work day; that's likely the best way to confer the reltive value to them
so 1 gold is roughly a week's worth of pay to the average person who isn't an artisan, guard, merchant, etc.
just did math for fun sakes, that is about, with minimum wage being $7.50 in US national average, about $3 | $30 | $300 for each currency :))
2 sp = $60 = $7.50 x 8 hrs
1 sp = $30
break down by 10 from there
meaning Ale (4cp) costs about $12 a mug, which for the medieval theme it being slightly higher than our time makes sense
Ty
D&D isn't an economy simulator, so keep that in mind!
According to every source I consulted, the damage die does not increase as you level; that's for your other psionic features.
knowing relative values is good for coming up with bribes and things along those lines; so it's decent informatrion to have
oh true, didn't catch that
Sure. I'm not saying it's worthless; it's just an approximation and making sense of the economy of D&D is ultimately not going to get very far!
Only surprisingly thing is a health potion (50gp) is about $1,500, though when is healthcare ever cheap XD (this is for fun at this point on Conversions)
would very likely need a very in depth suppliment at the very least
It also largely just tends to break in that adventurers very quickly become incredibly wealthy by NPC standards and should all really retire as millionaires
I was just about to type that, couldn't find the boom feat either. I'm new to this and using the 5e players handbook for reference
Only way I can improve damage from what I found was getting the throwing weapon feat and increasing the dexterity modifier but I need fighting style feat as a prerequisite. Do I get a fighting style feat as I level?
Rogues don’t get a fighting style iirc
Though, what’s this throwing weapon feat?
The bomber feat is not in the PHB, so that makes sense
I can't add a pic for some reason but Thrown weapon fighting is in the book as a feat
I think its from the Astarion vampire book?
It is
Thrown weapon fighting is the fighting style
(Which is also a feat)
Ty
Can I get an honest opinion from rogue players? Is soulknife better than assassin ( is using psychic blades worth it more than anything)
I'm not sure what the differences are between 2014 and 2024 versions, but the soul knife has really cool flavor and some cool features for out of combat. Assassin feels combat-centric (and in a limited capacity in 2014).
Despite the name, the psychic blades themselves aren't actually the star of the show for Soulknife. It's the skill check bonus from Psi Knack.
I liked it for the teleporting and invisible blades but if I can't increase the damage maybe I'm better with a bow in the assassin class
I would say that you will get more consistent use out of soul knife abilities, while assassin is all about the burst
the blades do eventually run into the problem of competing with magic weapons though, but at that point you also get an accuracy boost to the blades
Appreciate the replies, I'll keep soulknife but maybe focus on a bow for damage and the knives just for stealth kills or something?
the knifes still should outdamage +1 weapons if you are at least 9th level but once you add extra dice to weapon damage, its tough
So use them until I come across powerfully enchanted bow and daggers?
The damage difference between a bow and the blades will be negligible until you've got your hands on a very rare or legendary tier weapon, in my opinion.
I think that's a judgment call. The rogue has plenty to do with their bonus action as it is, but if you miss that first attack, having the BA as an option to still get Sneak Attack can feel great.
Ok, ty for the info and tag me if the conversation continues but I'm going to bed 👍
Hello, My name is Cohen, I want to make a character sorta based of the spy from TF2, focusing on stealth, deception, disguise, fast and agile, smart
Play a rogue
Yea they know that but there's many races that provide rouge like playstyles like tabaxi etc
I’d recommend a changeling assassin rogue
That or an arcane trickster casting Disguise Self
Depends if you want magic or not
@real peak read above to
ah yeah
Hey so I’m new to dnd and I have an idea I think would be funny but idk how to make a character or find a group of ppl to play with

Start with #learn-to-play and the free basic rules (first 2 chapters are good to read through, 2nd chapter goes through how to create a character)
Are all dnd sessions like once per week? Are there any that are daily
And how do I find ppl
Possibly - depends on the group and how frequently they run games. See #find-a-game to learn how to use our Looking For Game channels to find a group/game.

Hi all, how’s it going?
Arcane Trickster Rogue
how do you search for the "phb" im looking for PHB-2024 165
Do you own the PHB?
If you own it digitally then the platform you own it on likely has a search function. D&DBeyond I believe lacks a specific page number search, but you can click on the chapter/section p.165 is supposed to be on to navigate to the desired content.
Hello
How do I make a character
do you mean on paper, or using the dndbeyond digital thing?
Go here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024
Pick a class, species and background.
Online
do you choose the shape of the dragon born breath weapon or is it determined by your draconic ancestry?
Hello
hi
How are you doing '
good
Guys
I have a question
Do you guys happen to know any dnd calls where you can play dnd and chat on mic
Look on roll20 some people use discord and roll20.

Hey super new looking for advice
Me too! Just did a couple one shots before. Anything in particular u looking for?
@fair elbow I'm lost big time I understand the rules but I think to Literally like if I'm a grung barbarian and I jump and land on someone why does it hurt them. ( like toad from the x man)
The rules are not comprehensive for every single situation that could come up, since that would make the rulebook incredibly long.
There are rules for falling on a creature, as per Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, however, so you should see if your DM will use that rule if you try it. That being said, you could also just flavor your attacks with your weapon of choice as jump attacks.
I suggest looking at the Dragonborn species page included as part of the free Basic Rules.
As per the Dragonborn species page you choose the shape every time you use it.
yes the 2024 (5.5e) you choose it every but the 2014 rules 5e it is dependent on your draconic ancestry.
Is there a chat where I can get some opinions on my D&D campaign?
What sorta opinions? Like on the worldbuilding, an event, or?
World building
#dm-world-building then
Tysm!
You likely didn’t see it because you don’t have the DM tag
hi!! ive been playing dnd with my friends from school and it's been super fun (2nd session this weekend), but ive been struggling to roleplay my character?? i have a vague idea of her personality, and i made a pretty detailed backstory, and i am a drama student so honestly i should be better at this but does anyone have any tips/advice 🥺 much appreciated!
When using the skilled feat in 2024 5e version, can I pick saving throws as one of the 3 choices? Probably not but thought I'd check
Saving throws aren't skills, so no
Thought so but thanks for confirming. I'm making a human fighter and don't know which original feat to pick for my extra, already have tough
I've been there as well, honestly it's something that you slowly get used to with time, but have you tried the PBIF? (Personality, Bonds, Ideals, Flaws) It helped me have a clear idea of how my character behaves regularly, and also in unusual circumstances
I feel like savage attacker isn't great as eventually I'll have multiple attacks per turn so maybe lucky or something?
Lucky is never bad to have, yeah. Tavern Brawler might also be fun even if just for the improvised weapon proficiency. Healer is great as an option to heal someone else, which you don't normally have as a fighter.
i have done those traits, but i'll probably revisit them. thank you!!
find an opportunity to say or do something out of the ordiinary befitting your character. It's even better if its funny (although sometimes humor will end up being unintentional), and if it inconveniences the party a little that's fine. Just don't get your party or yourself killed or something for character building, its still also a strategic game as well as a roleplaying game.
Then i suppose it's just a matter of getting used to it, you only played one session from what you said, so don't worry too much or you might end up with the opposite result, roleplaying while playing dnd should come out naturally since we are all playing to hang out and have fun
Thanks I'll go with Lucky or alert as my wife has healer. Do I get more HP with higher constitution or is it level/class/feat based only? Can't find any numbers in the book for higher constitution
ooh okay i see
i am a chronic overthinker so this is probably a good idea 😭
You HP Is the hit dice of your class + constitution modifier, so yes
You do. You can see this here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/phb-2024/creating-a-character#GainingaLevel
Essentially, every time you reach a higher constitution modifier, you gain more max hp depending on level and class.
Crap no gifs? Ty anyway
Yeah, Themberchaud likes to eat gifs, so none here
I had a feeling that was the case since not everyone cares about getting that good at rp, especially when they are beginners, but don't worry and go play lighthearted, it's more a matter of mindset than anything else, true you can practice, but with the wrong mindset you might find yourself stuck anyway
Yeah. I often "find" the personality of my pcs during play, there's only so much I can do to prepare in advance.
yeah this makes sense, one of my friends was doing quite a bit of rp but he's also played more d&d recently than i have, so i was just a bit worried abt it lmao
i'll keep this in mind!!
I was worried too at the beginning, same thing when i tried larp for the first time, i started wondering how to get better and everyone around me told me to not worry and let It come out naturally
Hey guys i just joined this server as me and 4 of my other friends are super interested in playing dnd but we all cant really wrap our heads around DM'ing. I was wondering if anyone would be down to DM with us so we can get an easy start into it and learn how to play the game properly? I hope this isnt too annoying or anything but this is lowkey my last resort for it anyway, i tred to dm myself and sucked at it horribly. Anyways if anyone is able to i am more then happy to give details on who we are and figure out a time to play based on timezones if wanting to in my DM's, just send a friend request or dm request. Thank you for giving me a little bit of your time to read this message and regardless of yall's answer i hope everyone here as a good day/afternoon/night 💚 .
I suggest you take a look at #find-a-game and in your case also #looking-for-dm, you might find a dm open to run a campaign with you and your friends
Sorry to keep bothering you guys with questions but I'm reading the attacks section on creating character and got confused "melee attack bonus = strength modifier + proficiency bonus" is that the standard proficiency that covers skills or ( +2 for lvl1 character) or is there separate proficiency for weapons and I've missed it?
It's the same proficiency 😎
Basically, as long as you're proficient with something, you keep getting slightly better as you level up when your proficiency goes up
Cool ty
oh im actually so sorry, i didnt see that channel. thank you 😭
It's alright don't worry
Hai :3

I just joined this server, didn't know there was even a Discord for DnD Lol...
Welcome
Hey!
Hola, mate
Sup
Just chillin, really
Cool
Hbu?
Pretty Fine, Was just thinking about the my Character for my first Campaign
-# I'm a BIT conflicted about the Classes and all... had some doubts
For a First Time Player, who knows a lot about DnD, What would you suggest for a Class?
Fair enough. Your first character is always the hardest to make.
Yeah... Many ideas tbh
How much do you know? Some classes are a bit more complex then others but all are learnable for beginners
Hmm
I would say I am familiar with all of the Classes... Spellcasters, Martial and Half-Casters
Have you got a game lined up?
I know about most of them... Spellcasters are the only ones I have limited knowledge of
Yeah, in a month or so, with my friends
Have you all agreed the premise, or any details about the setting?
I am not that new to DnD, but I haven't played a Campaign or anything
We're still deciding, We've all got our stuff as well
I would wait until you have an idea of what the campaign will actually be before you make a character
But that’s just me
Make three concepts. Build someone that fights, someone that casts, and someone with a range of skills. Don't get your heart set on everything, just put together enough.
Sure, that sounds good tbh
Hmm... So three ideas for a Martial Class, Spellcaster and general Utility?
So like... ideas for a Monk, Warlock and Rogue/Bard?
Then when you come to picking all you need is to add some flavour to them and you're ready to go.
Sure!
Or a fighter, wizard and ranger.
Ok, That sounds good tbh
Any species you'd Suggest for me tho? I do know a couple that might be fun, but still
I'd probably start with what's in the Basic Rules to begin. They tend to be relatively universal.
Maybe try to stick to the PHB for your first character, since third-party content can get really complicated really fast.
Yup
And Dragonborn? One of those
Yeah those
You're doing 2014?
Half-Elf is a decent starting race, +2/+1/+1 stats is nice to play with, I would go Half Wood Elf for that faster move speed
Prob, Yeah
That seems cool
So you finally get a chance to actually play for once instead of just making characters. That’s gotta be pretty exciting, right?
Do your friends have any DnD experience?
DnD is a recent love of mine, but here aren't many places for it
Not exactly...
It is our first campaign, Ig I should clarify that
as for backstory, come up with three goals. one goal that can be resolved in a two or three sessions (a reason to join the party), one goal that can be resolved in a few months of playing (a reason to stay with the party), and a lifetime goal that would resolve things about your character (something that acts as a conclusion and would complete the character's reason for adventuring).
Has the DM at least started going through DnD content?
Oh interesting, so Motivation? cool
We all are, She's also doing it a lot
hello people 👋 new to the server here
Welcome, Tempest!
yeah. there are many new players that end up just sorta feeling like they are just kinda there. having a reason, even a very loose reason, acts as a potential springboard. like the character won't strictly revolve around these goals but it gives something to move towards. and the DM can potentially use some of that down the road.
cool! saw u discussing about a campaign and what to play 🔥
- What did you do before becoming an adventurer?
- Why did you become an adventurer?
- What do you want to get out of adventuring? (ie: what are your future plans as an adventurer?)
Aim for 50-80 words per section
Hmm, Sure!
I’m the biggest noob when it comes to dnd, I have started watching critical role at the recommendation of a friend and I’ve been playing baldurs gate 3 and it’s made me want to get immersed in this world but I don’t know where to start or if there’s anyone out there willing to take someone so new under their wing
I do have a Lot of Ideas for this
CR is Cool right? I began Campaign 2
-# I never laughed so much
Yeah it’s amazing, I watched episode 1 of campaign one then just went onto campaign two and I’m on episode 6 of that right now
Cool
CR is cool ye, gave em a watch a couple of times
I watch a lot of Legends of Advantris…
-# Lemme check what episode im on rq, definitely after Spoiler Alert || [Pumat Sol] and [Shakaste]||
i found out about them through YT shorts 😂 their stuff is so funny
I’ve never heard of them, will need to check them out
Im on Lost And Found, Episode 13
Mollymauk Tealeaf is pretty cool, Bloodhunter looks like a Fun Class
okay, keep in mind that Critical Role is a highly produced show for profit, created and played by professional voice actors. yes, they enjoy it. yes, they have fun. but it is not the typical tabletop experience. regular players don't have the training and discipline of voice actors. regular tables don't have a multi-million dollar business on the line. its a show. a great show.
Legends of Avantris is similar, but on the opposite end of the spectrum. their whole thing is that they generally lack discipline and often dissolve into memes and chaos. it works because the whole table is like that and they actively play off of each other. at the end of the day, especially now, they have a business on the line. its a show. a hilarious show.
I’ve looked into classes a little but that was mainly for creating my character on bg3
I do know that
Isn’t that the case with most DnD channels these days?
I dont have like CR level of Expectations tbh
if you get at the right table, it will feel like those shows.
Yeah same, I totally get that
I do get it
Tbh I do think making characters on bg3 does give you a rough idea of how things are made
thats how i got into D&D, its such a good game, Green Dragonborn Moon Druid was my first character on it
Granted its still missing a ton of stuff but the mechanical stuff's all there in an easy to use UI
But uh... CR is an expectation from a DM or Player that is as good as them
there are some that do straight up actual plays. like, smaller scale ones.
It’s always a shame when life starts to get in the way of those tables…
So Im not expecting that level of plays
I’m doing a multiplayer run with a friend as a loth-sworn drow warlock rn
Looks like I have some research to do, then.
Warlock is a Fun Class, I did check it out
thats where having a business revolve around it makes a big difference. like any art, having a positive cash flow goes a long way to allow the freedom to create.
love that!!! lemme guess subclass, is it a Hexblade?
-# Drows are... variations of Elves right?
yes
They're otherwise known as Dark Elves yea
Interesting
i'll take that as a yes 😂
Fathomless sounds cool to me tbh
Yeah it is 😂
Hexblade is Cool, But Fathomless fits more of a Pirate-esque Player
-# Its a Fun Subclass, I saw
The table I’m referring to is a group of friends I’ve been playing with since 2014. We just recently had our last session.
i am more of a 5.5e player/dm now cause thats the version my college society uses, i wish i started playing before 2024 😭
Damn, Thats quite a long time
Stuff like that never existed at my high school or college unfortunately
-# I really want that stuff in my College/University
thats a shame, we have a really strong westmarches style campaign going rn
My high school had a very popular DnD club. Almost to the point that there were no spots available…
Damn, Cool
my pfp is art of my NPC in the setting, 'The Viscount Fryrgo'
It’s all sports where I come from, there was nothing for nerds like me 😂
Its Cool!
anyways, i found that a really good example of a typical table game with experienced players is when Old Men Rolling Dice did White Plume Mountain. just a podcast though, so no visuals.
Nerd Poker is a different direction, more chill and done by professional comedians, and generally NSFW. they'll go off on a tangent for like 10 minutes mid-session where they talk about a comedy show or some dude they met at a convention that still owed Brian $7 or something.
Cool
The artist is so talented, she can't do non humanoids like Dragonborns but the ones she does are amazing
that is bittersweet. its sad that all things must end. but its great that it lasted so long.
I can draw like non-humanoids
It’s very impressive
But Humans are hard for me
so you are the opposite then 😂
Yeah, Lol
I am learning how to draw them myself tho
still cool tho, i cant draw for the life of me but artists are amazing!!!
I pay my friend with food in exchange for art
Piece by Piece, Like Fingers, Eyes, Faces and Bodies
Thats cool
hands are surprisingly difficult to draw well.
love that, she wont accept anything for her art so we just force goodies onto her
I have drawn Hands...
-# Just its difficult
Fingers are easier to draw tho
Having like minded friends must be good, I’ve got one who lives 4 hours away from me 😂
I can draw maps. That’s about it
Map drawings cool
lemme post the art for my NPC in the art channel here
yeah, but when is anyone ever going to just draw some floating disembodied finger all on its own?
I drew a Monster, thats an ANcient Sorcerer trapped in a Piece of Paper with Ink Hands coming from a Paper. The Hands were difficult...
-# Dont look at my books
-# The General Pose I took was.... yeah...
I had a character who had their left hand cut off during a battle, so they used mage hand to to animate only the fingers.
That was a fun character…
It ended up pretty Cool, But i am just drawing fingers now
Damn, Thats cool
i used to draw... i used to write... sad trombone
I believe, the Reborn is a race which allows for Ghostly/Phantasmal Limbs?
I draw less, and write more these days…
i think so...
Hmm
Drawing is pretty Nice, Art THerapy can heal you
-# Idk where I heard that
But Drawing's good, Ik that
I usually find I’m better at describing the world rather than drawing it
I cannot draw for shit
Im decent in Descriptions, Drawing is better for me
Damn
At what point do we move this convo to #dnd-discussion?
Prob now?
imma head off anyways, have to prep my Changeling Bard for a oneshot i am playing in later
the last story i wrote was almost 60000 words for a first draft. part of nanowrimo. not long after there were real life people's activities that absolutely dwarfed my main villain's activities, still without any repercussions. i sat down and thought really hard about stuff. and then shelved it. i haven't written since.
Have fun
Cya Tempest!
Thats a Lot...
60, 000
the goal in nanowrimo is to write 50000 in one month's time
Can you guys move your private convo to a private DM or not cluttering the channel for new folks
Yo, im completely new to dnd. Like, i've only heard people talk about it. But it sounds really interesting and fun. Can anyone explain dnd a bit to me? Or tell me how to get started?

so you have a group of people sitting around a table. one person says what the world and all the people in it are doing, and each other person says what ONE person in the world does. talking goes back and forth to create a story and events, using a framework of rules to keep things fair, and dice rolls to keep things unpredictable.
So I’ve ready the learn to play and found that there’s a learn dnd event about 45 minutes away from me on Monday night so I’m definitely going to try get to that. Do you guys have any recommendations for where I can buy dice? I know I might be getting ahead of myself
well, there's the possibility of buying them online from many different sources. or you can look for where you could buy books or other gaming stuff in your local area and check there.
i'd honestly suggest getting two sets, in two different colours. make sure you can very easily and quickly read the numbers.
Perfect thanks, I’ve looked online before and I just don’t want to get ones that look garbage or I can’t play with, like there’s these dragon eye things on TikTok with liquid cores so the eye moves but I’m guessing they’d technically be weighted
my reasoning for two sets is that advantage and disadvantage use two d20, and rolling them at the same time would really help speed things up. rolling d100 would require two d10, where you designate one of the colours as the 10's. and on top of that, many weapon damage require 2 dice. if you need to roll more, then you need to role more. but 2 sets will greatly speed things up.
oh, there's a difference between a set and a full set. a full set usually has 11 dice. regular often just has 7. either way, get two sets.
you could always get an additional fancy set too.
I jumped the gun and got two 7 dice sets, is that enough? Also I’m assuming the community isn’t going to slate me for the dice have are they? lol
unless the dice are difficult to read or unbalanced, whatever. hopefully they are different colours. that really helps if you don't have a d%, which is designed to be the 10s for a d100 roll
Yeah they are
Whats the extra 4?
@heady echo I bought one of those cheap 25 sets of dice for $25 (something like that) off Amazon. They work perfectly fine and give me plenty of options and colors for new players when they join me
My two sets cost me £30 total, not sure what that is in $
Me neither, but enjoy!
d20, d20, d12, d%, d10, d8, d6, d6, d6, d6, d4.
I get a 2nd d20, why 3 more d6 though
A regular set of 7 would only have one of each type. Sometimes you'll see a set of six missing the d%
I always thought it came from the whole "roll 4d6 and drop the lowest." And I think previous editions had more d6 damage than other dice
Oh, and metal dice can dent tables. Careful with those.
Hallo iam new would like to lesrn the traids of DnD

Roleplaying isn't only performing your character dramatically; it's about making the choices your character would! If you wanna act, have at it, but don't think that's the only way.
This D&D Beyond article has some good advice (https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1463-how-to-get-better-at-roleplaying-in-d-d). Descriptive roleplay, where you narrate your character's dialogue and actions rathern than embodying them, can ease people in sometimes (https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/basic-rules-2014/adventuring#Roleplaying).
I'd echo that it does come with time. It can feel awkward to play pretend, even with people you know well, so don't be surprised if everyone has to warm up to the idea.
Welcome!
Try having a read through the first couple of sections of the Free Rules to get a grasp of the terminology, then have a go at putting a character together for practice.
You'll need to pick a class, species and background. Let us know if you have any questions!
ill read these, thanks sm!!
Hey, so I’ve downloaded dnd beyond just to get character creation a try and it’s asking about distributing the ability scores, there’s three options, which would I pick to start a campaign and how do I distribute them?
?tag new abilities
Abilities
All creatures have six abilities that measure physical and mental characteristics: Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma.
Each ability has a score from 1 to 20, which represents the magnitude of an ability. Each ability also has a modifier from -5 to +5, derived from its score. Add the modifier when you make a D20 Test with the corresponding ability or when a rule asks you to do so.
Determine your ability scores by using one of the following three methods. Your DM might prefer you to use a particular one.
- Standard Array. Use the following six scores for your abilities: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8.
- Random Generation. Roll four d6s and record the total of the highest three dice. Do this five more times, so you have six numbers.
- Point Cost. You have 27 points to spend on your ability scores. The cost of each score is shown on the Ability Score Point Costs table. For example, a score of 14 costs 7 of your 27 points.
After assigning your ability scores, adjust them according to your background. Finally, determine your ability modifiers using the Ability Scores and Modifiers table. Write the modifier next to each of your scores.
The usual recommendation is to go with Standard Array until you have a DM and they specify another method. As for assigning, you should probably have the highest value in your class's primary ability and a decent CON score (+2 or more). The rest is according to preference.
What razorwing said.
Thank you
Hi where'd you get roles in here
BTW you don't need roles to access any of the channels except the archived channels (which requires the Avowed role I believe - see #frequently-asked-questions message)
I am looking to make a dnd beyond character but due to not buying all the source books I can’t create the character I want (way of long death monk/ Zealot barbarian/ Winged Tiefling ect…) can anyone who has all the sourcebooks on dnd beyond allow my character to join their campaign (an inactive one preferably) just so I can complete my build and have an interactive character sheet for it.
Hey just a heads up, soliciting for and joining a campaign solely for the purpose of getting paid content for free is against server rules and D&DBeyond’s terms of service
Soliciting for access is against D&D/D&DBeyond's terms of service.
You might find a group needing players that has content sharing enabled for that group playing together - check #looking-for-players and #looking-for-community
Oh Ok thx, I didn’t know. I am a new player still getting to learn everything. Also it’s temporary I’ll eventually get everything but can’t afford to get everything all at once currently
You can start with the free rules: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/free-rules
As a middle ground, if you can get access to the books you need physically (e.g. your local library) you can port them over to DDB via its homebrew creator as well, just make sure you keep the homebrew private.
?books
There are four ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books:
- Purchase the full digital book from the marketplace
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from the marketplace
- Join a D&D Beyond campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond (Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way; it is for personal use only)
Oh perfect thx
Am already part of a campaign can’t believe didn’t think of asking my dm to joint his dndB 🤦🏽♂️
hello, im VERY new to D&D, i want to learn, but i have made a character that is not exactly in the original D&D theme. i used to watch legends of avantris, and how they make custom themes like in space, but isnt specifically canon,If anyone could help me understand what and where i need to learn, it would help me SO much.

idk why but im struggling to pick skills i need as a rogue (arcane trickster). any suggestions?
Stealth and Perception are great in general.
Sleight of Hand and Arcana could be really fitting.
Hi!
Evening. Let us know if ya have questions
Hi everyone, sry, generic greeting. Im pretty new to dnd, I've made characters in the past, put easily 3 hours into it... long days at work. My wprk schedule is kinda clustered and unpredictable, i love dnd, listening to podcasts about it and watching shorts, the idea of living a seperate life in fantasy while still being able to have my own personality stands out to me, nightmare detectives got me into it. Im kinda looking for a flexible game where, due to my unpredictable schedule, i can enjoy the game with others at times without being a component of the game, like a side character, it sounds bad on paper, but at this time, its about the closest i can get without it disrupting my job or the game for other people... so in short, anyone looking for a side character?
Also, sry for long message, i wanted to get as much out in one go as possible
hello again, been active since redoing all my character sheets and noticing how complex dnd is! just wondering about when i level up as a arcane trickster i get more spell slots, how do i show i got more besides just changing it. id like all my spells to be in 1 to begin with but im struggling figuring out how to organize all this
Please read #find-a-game carefully to learn how to use our Looking For Game channels to find a game
Thank you, ill be sure to check it out, sry if i put the message in the wrong channel, but as i said, new to dnd and all that🤣, hope i wasnt too annoying
Hello, I’m new to dnd, I wish I can meet people that can help me and looking forward to dnd, it’s something that has been in my radar and the dbd x dnd collab sold me, currently I’m completely new and have little to no knowledge about it
Though I’m not new to rpg games, I’m a great fan of fallout, cyberpunk and the South Park game, so I’m a bit familiar with the concepts of dnd
Here's the recomended reading and instruction on learning the game if you're interested;
Read the information in #learn-to-play and 'Playing the Game'; Then follow allong with 'Creating A Character' using either the dnd beyond character builder or roll20 to make a practice character before heading over to #character-discussion to have it looked over.
Feel free to ask any questions you still have in #dnd-newcomers; There's a short interactive module you can play to get a feel for the game, or you could seek out gameplay videos online. Once you're ready to play, head over to #find-a-game, one of the many LFG discord servers, r/lfg on reddit, or your friendly local game store. If you'd like a printable character sheet, those can be found here.
Same🤣
should you make a character before a game?
As practice sure, but ideally you don't reveal to the DM that you made one
Adapt your character accordingly to the campaign and pass it off as someone new discreetly
ok
would you guys take 14 AC but 7 HP or 11 AC but 9 HP for my wizard character
ok will do
what does message do i have read the description but i still don't understand what scenario it would be used in.
To literally whisper lol
Since its a spell it can be more discreet at trying to discreetly talk to people without being eavesdropped on, and without drawing attention to you and the person you're whispering to
hi
Hi :3
Hello new peps
Sup
I'm planning on playing a rat-race based off english folklore in a campaign, and I want to know if I should fake an accent or not. Thank you!
If you’re confident you can then do it, but it’s not necessary
Alright, thank you
Hey guys, long term Pathfinder GM here. One of my Players wanted to try out DMing and we are gonna start a WDH campaign since all of Us wanted to try out 5e for the first time. We are gonna play with 2024 rules. Since he is the Player that makes the most op builds in our PF2e Games I want to give him a taste of his own medicine for once. Since Waterdeep only runs Level 1-5 I wanted to ask if anyone has any strong builds for that Level range that are gonna drive him mad since Most of the builds I find online are either 2014 rules or made for Level 1-20. The other players are gonna play a Sorcerer, Barbarian and a Cleric (Subclasses still undecided)
Check in with the folks in #optimization - they can help you find and make the most optimized build for your requirements.
I may just be misreading the tone of the message, but this does sound fairly adversarial towards the DM and I don't think that'll be healthy for the fun at the table in the long run.
Nah its all good, DM knows about it and Said its fair that he gets Payback for all his shenanigans from the past 4 years
Thx
Nice, good to hear you talked about this out of game. Carry on
Since I DM (or better GM because of PF2e) myself I know that communication is key for these kind of things
hi I'm wiggle bones I'm new to dnd and i was wondering if anyone could perchance help me make a druid character and maybe play dnd with me if thats okay
thank you
yes please

Hello i’m new to DND. I am making a guild with my boyfriend and I just wanna learn the rules and stuff of DND.
Check the bot just above your message for basics
A guild?
Does anyone know how to Apply the true strike hit and dmg Bonus on DnD beyond?
Generally I roll the spell atk roll as listed on the spell portion and then roll the weapons damage as per the weapon
If you equip a weapon and have true trike in your spell list, ddbeyond should automatically show the relevant roll in the actions tab.
Hey how do i join a game?

Aight thanks
hello guyss
I'm kinda interested in DMing so I wanna learn how to dm.
but since I'm new, should I really onto dming or I should roleplay and see how the game works?
I mean I should rp
but I can't find DM
That's up to you! Starting as a player is definitely easier, but plenty of people (myself included) got their start by jumping in as DM.
I see.
so probably I should starting as a player. but problem is I can't find dm at least for free.
It does take some time to find a game. Patience is necessary! In the meantime, you can keep reviewing the Basic Rules and make a practice character sheet or two
okay thanks!
Im 100% new to dnd, is a sorcerer a okay pick? I really like magic stuff.
Perfectly fine, casters are sometimes considered more complicated than nonmagic but sorcerer is probably one of the more new player friendly casters
Alright, thank you!
Sorcs are the "I have a few tools that solve every problem I can see" spellcaster
Because there's only a few tools, its imo one of the simpler classes cuz you just need to pick up on when to use the few tools in your arsenal
Spell options can be something you figure out with your DM
Yeah a guild is like a group of nights if I’m correct
Just what we’re calling our group of friends that are going to play with us and we’re looking for more people to play with
do you mean within the game or outside of the game?
Both
Hi everyone! So I am very new to DND and I've always wanted to get into a game for a long while now, but don't have a character sheet or any idea on how to get into a game.
Where do I need to start?
Star, are you looking to do this stuff through the computer online digitally, or do you mean with physical books using pencils and papers in person?
I always start with making the world
well, in game it really depends on how many people you have together. if its around 3 to 6 people, i'd say that's a party instead of a guild.
Anyone want to play a one shot
I have the same problems, but as a DM, i really want to start but i have nothing but random ideas
How do I even build a character sheet???
Yeah, my boyfriend told me that but I decided to change it because I am known for breaking the rules even in certain games lol
@inland linden if you want to play a one shot and write can get a few people we can go over all of that
I looked at YouTube tutorials

Welcome! The best place to start is with the free Basic Rules, linked in the bot post above. As you're giving them a read, we'll be happy to answer any specific questions you have here in this chat.
I have like 5 books that make dming easier
Got it! Thank you!
there we go. that should give you some info about rules and how to make a character. there is a character builder on dndbeyond you can use.
You do because I would really like to see them all the videos I seen on YouTube or a lot more confusing
gm everyone, im looking to join a campaign, weekdays between 9 am and 3 pm mst
@peak depot yeah I'm trying to get 3 or 4 people together for a one shot and if yall are cool maybe full campaign if you want to vc and check things out I got u
calling a party a guild sounds like a great rule to break
Ok so in the link in creating a character it says that a good idea is to talk with a dungeon master and theres a lot of times a "Session Zero"???
Totally can I see if my boyfriend can come in with it?
Absolutely
Are you confused about what a session zero is?
but in D&D knowing which rules can be bent, which rules can be broken, and which rules your opponent HAS to stick to can be very strategically beneficially
Yes?
When are you planning to do it cause me and my boyfriend are still in school and we’re also long distance
Okay so the dm will mostly lead the session zero but some common things dicussed during it are
-setting (the world youre playing in)
-character creation (who you and the rest will be playing)
-rules and guidelines for the campaign
I was trying to start soon but we will see how long it takes to get people
Session zero is meant to ensure that the rest of the campaign goes as smoothly as possible and prevent friction that bringing up stuff later might have
A Session 0 is basically a check in that many DMs hold with their players to answer campaign questions and set up expectations
And it helps creating a character that fits your party and the dm's world
yeah. it helps to establish expectations and answer questions. no actual playing happens in a session zero
Okay cool
if you're looking for something to play just you and your boyfriend, there are adventures specially designed for one DM and one Player. search for D&D Duet. there's a series of adventures for that.
Oh cool he’s working on his own DND campaign right now so talk to him about that too, but we like to do it with friends
so he's got working knowledge of the game. great. you wanted more info, right? beyond the rules, there's a short adventure called Peril in Pinebrook. its one of the shortest most efficient adventure that teaches how to play and how to run while going through the adventure. or even just reading it.
Peril in Pinebrook is a fantastic first adventure.
exactly. it won't teach you the rules. but then again, the rules don't exactly teach the flow of actually playing.
while Peril in Prinebrook is a great learning adventure that is fun in itself, i think Hunt for the Thessalhydra works as a great preview for D&D as a whole. it has a little bit of everything in a single self contained questline.
Im hoping to make my first homebrew character, anyone around for assistance?
what do you mean by homebrew character?
custom race and traits and backgrounds etc
using the digital character builder or just on paper?
Just to confirm, has your DM already given you the green light on this plan?
im attempting digital builder.
yessiir shes awesome
shes approved my ideas i just need to execute it
Then the best place to design your homebrew is with your DM, since they'll have to make sure it's balanced for their game.
Secondarily, the folks over in #homebrew can help as well.
are you planning to use existing homebrew or straight up make your own custom thing yourself?
yeah, the homebrew channel would have better insight into the ins-and-outs of dndbeyond's stuff.
ah nice, thanks all!! My Dm is fairly new also, we're all kinda starting from the beginning but ive showed her the plans and all the trait i'd like and shes cool with it, i'm not not sure how to turn it into an actual character sheet.
But ill hit up the homebrew channel, tyty!!
cool. as for at the table stuff, ttrpgs are pretty fault tolerant since they use language and words to construct the world. mistakes will happen. things may not work. its worth experimenting and trying. and have fun.
If your DM is new and you're new, I'd highly warn against using any homebrew at all.
Just like how you probably shouldn't be customizing the engine on a car before getting your driver's license, you probably shouldn't be designing game features without some experience with the mechanics of the game.
sound advice. get a grip on the regular before tweaking things.
Noted.
however, unlike a car, you don't run the risk of exploding or investing thousands of dollars that burns into a chunk of metal. be prepared for unforeseen difficulties. be prepared for things to just not work right. homebrew's notorious for being an experiment. the intention is to have fun, and just know things might need to change later if they break.
Okay okay i’m getting all this information
I have a one shot ready if anyone wants to play im more than willing to teach newcomers
I also have a short one ready. I just need to get like more info on how to play the game.
i’m always up for learning how to play
there you go. you just need a private discord somewhere to get together and play. that works out pretty good for yous
oh yeah, a really good level 1 one-shot is Joys of Extradimensional Space. it works like an escape room, the goal is to get out rather than beat some boss monster. there's exploration, NPC interactions, some combat, puzzles, generally what one would expect.
and you can probably get through the thing in about 3 to 4 hours with a DM and four to five PCs.
Ooooo okay
What's got you stuck?
that is normal.
our character sheets needed
if you want, those are suggestions. you can write your own instead.
You can, if you don't want to come up with any yourself. But it's not necessary to use the rolled results.
Oh, hm. They got Banished.
you'll want to get into a character builder
aaaaaaand off to eat lunch
Sure
and then go step by step through the process. it should guide you
i dont use it, i use pencil and paper. so someone else will need to help you out. its been a while and i dont know if or what's changed.

Yall I’m playing my first bard other, what are some good spells to have (im usually a fighter</3)
For first level? You can never go wrong with Healing Word! It's one of the most reliable healing spells in the game, since it can get your unconscious buddies back in action with the least threat to yourself.
Command, healing word, dissonant whisper
Sleep, Silvery Barbs (if not banned), Heroism
hi guys
hi
hello dnd ppl
im starting one rn with my friends
How's it going?
I wanna have an irl session too, I mean, I've hosted one shots with some friends and they've were fun. But I want more
Dnd is not really a thing where I am, I hope it will become more prominent in the future
fr
I’m having my first one on Monday in a game store for new people
That sounds awesome. I hope you guys have fun!
have one every two weeks or so, run one every month at an event.
I dm once a week and play as a player once every two weeks so yes
hii
Welcome!
Hello
Not super aware of these kinds of scams since I’m pretty new but I’m like 90% sure someone’s tryna scam me rn
Through D&D
art scam?
Yees, that common?
here, unfortunately, yes.
Do I report it somewhere? The account is in this server
i cant remember the report thing off the top of my head
Ill have a look
go to #moderator-support , ask for a private chat, and send them the name and a screenshot of the convo in the private chat
do not post it publically as that runs afoul of the rules on public callouts
Thanks for your help!!
I'm bored
How does spell save dc work? I worked out the number, I just don't know what it's used for
Let me look
Some spells and effects will require an enemy creature to make a Saving Throw. This means that an enemy will have to roll a die to determine how badly they're affected by the spell. Your Spell Save DC is the number they need to beat with their roll.
the Spell Save Difficulty Class (DC) is the target number a creature must meet or exceed with a saving throw to resist or reduce a spell's effects. It serves as a spellcaster's "offense stat"; if the target's roll is lower than the DC, they are fully affected by the spell.
Ok ty both

https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024/playing-the-game#SavingThrows
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024/playing-the-game#SavingThrowDifficultyClass
here's the official wording as well if you'd like
Anyone know what dnd book has all the spells
None of them have every spell.
The Player's Handbook has the most in a single book, though.
By far.
the PHB has most of them, then Tasha's and Xanathar's have most of the rest
for 5.5e there's also a few in Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun
then there's a few scatteed here and there in adventure books
Thank you i dont have Tasha's or xanathar but xanathar is my next buy
it's a really solid resource, has some of my favorite spells
Hello
For the Dragonborn's Breath Attack, does it guarantee hit anything in range? Or do you still need to roll against the enemy's AC and only after that do they roll the DEX Save?
Breath Weapon. When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of your attacks with an exhalation of magical energy in either a 15-foot Cone or a 30-foot Line that is 5 feet wide (choose the shape each time). Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 8 plus your Constitution modifier and Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, a creature takes 1d10 damage of the type determined by your Draconic Ancestry trait. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage. This damage increases by 1d10 when you reach character levels 5 (2d10), 11 (3d10), and 17 (4d10). You can use this Breath Weapon a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.
So it's a successful attack; the enemy just needs to find out if it takes full or half damage.
It doesn't 'hit' at all. There's no attack roll involved, which means it can't hit.
Instead, the targets just make a save.
Hopefully that's clearer!
it is, thank you!
Does Lay on Hands only cure poison for 5points, or any status at 5points per status?
Player Handbook for 2024 seems to specify poison
It only cures the listed condition. D&D abilities do what they say they do
2024 paladins get more conditions that they can cure later on
ah found it, at lvl 14

This DnD beyond is the standard area where DnD is done?
Is it freeware or with some subscription?
It’s the most popular and the official site for D&D. Accounts are free but they also offer a subscription to open a ton of extras but the free version is plenty
Should I be wary of individuals calling me to join a DnD campaign with no chat history here?
Like I got 2 people adding immediately after I typed here
I am a bit of a paranoid
That’s not what they are supposed to do as that’s violating rules here. Down side of 100’s of thousands of people being on here, some just don’t care
Just ignore or block them. There will be scammers to that will try to get you to send money for art then never send anything. Just ignore them too.
Hey my bf wants to know what the company your going to Do and what is it about?
Hello
What's the consensus on utilizing AI to make my first character as a testbed sort of thing to understand how it works?
AI cannot differentiate between older editions, 5e 2014, 5e 2024, homebrew, other similar systems, and random people on the internet posting basically whatever they want on the topic that the bot happened to scrape up, and as such AI should not be relied on for rules questions or decisions
Ask your questions in the appropriate channel here to get more accurate information and to avoid being lied to while burning clean water and electricity on halucinations c:

I'll try to find a time then to go through all this fully
You could jump in to character creation by picking a class, background and species from the Free Rules. Take what sounds interesting, let folk know what you've got, and go from there.
Do schools of magic ever come up for play reasons? As in, despite helping categorize spells, would I ever need to know which school of magic my spell is from?
For example say if there;s a special net trap that disables all enchantment magic or smth like that. Or an adversary that is immune to Illusion
Are these examples a thing?
To be honest, outside of some features that only let you pick spells from specific schools or only work on certain types (like Evoker stuff), the only time I usually see magic schools come up is if someone cast Detect Magic
And wants to know a spell's school. At which point, I generally have to look it up because I don't remember 😅
Played my first game today. My pet Capybara beat the boss.. 10/10 would recommend
How does that even happen
The new role is a Discord thing for certain servers. That'll vanish eventually.
Ah, okok. I came here to like ask for advice if Ive done my character sheet correctly and join in some campaign

Ah okok, thanks
Is there a bonus action healing spell? If so whats the name? Trying to prepare for my next session after we long rest cause oooof lol
Paladin level 6 / Warlock 1
healing word is the go-to bonus action healing spell. not a lot of healing, but very useful in a pinch
especially since "a pinch" is a state dnd characters tend to find themselves in a lot
also in 5.5e you can use healing potions on others as a BA, a bit cost prohibitive in tier 1, but doable
I got them down to 1hp then rolled a D4 4 with my capybaras +1 attack 😎 was rather cinematic
Damn impressive
Hmm I remember having healing word but now its gone?
Is the app bugging or is it due to me taking damage?
evenin. let us know if you have questions.
Unless I was on another character and not my pally
Pally's can access it. Did you maytbe change up which spells you have prepared?
I'd look there
I dont see it at all
Made a copy of the charcter and removed prepared but its gone o.O
Lost on why I cant find healing word on my pally lol
Oh wait... paladins cant use? O.o
oh woah, could've sworn it was on the paladin spell list
In legacy book and current book it says paladins cant use it 😭
Bard, Cleric, and Druid only
huh, my bad then, i misremembered
I did too but 🤷
you can take Magic Initiate: Cleric or Druid for it if you need it though
bonus in that it also gives you cantrips
This SHOCKS me. I just assumed they did
I wanted something to help since we're hitting "chapter 3" and atm facing 2 orges (1 deceased) and 1 mountain gaint (deceased)
And we dont really have a healer 😂
(1 ogre is melee and other alive is elemental)
You've got lay on hands at least q_q
see, I never have that problem because I mainline a druid multiclass
can't have no healer if you're the one with heal spells
When I got sqaucked I took 30 damage.. lol had to heal myself and our barbarian is like 50 up atm lol
imagine staying up after taking 30 damage at level 3 O_o
I'd have 21 HP at that level
the con 10 wizard at level 3:
12 con druidlock; so a little better off, but still fairly low
d8 hit die only gets you so much
0 con druid wizard have 14 max at 3
Paladin 6 Warlock 1 im at 64 health and I think our barbarian is at 91 but these undead huge orges/gaint hit so hard 😭
The elemental does like some area of effect thing too if ur 10 ft away and also blast u with all elements;-;
Our sorcerer is down and just melee mofos up who are far lmao
not if I knock it back 20 feet and slow it by 10 it doesn't
it do be like that >.>
yeah, if you've no healer you got to be stocking up on potions
We dont have a knock back guy and ya the sorcerer likes to run alot for some reason instead of sticking sort of close lol hes like 30ft+ away
should really stay at least relitively close to the martials as a caster if possible
if you're 60 feet away, you're just asking for a rogue with sentinel to pop out of stealth and rip ypu a new one
and even if 30 isn't that iffy, it's still much harder to respond if you're that far q_q
seems like a great convo for #dnd-discussion or #character-discussion to not clutter up the channel for new folks
I feel still pretty new tbh we started like may 2025
Never played before

Hello, I have a question, currently I’m studying the different classes and how to create a character, when the guide mentions “hit point die: d8 per rouge level” does this mean that every time I level up I make a d8 roll and the result is the hp I will get?
Yes, except for the first level; for level 1 you gain the maximum value of your hit die
Also any time that an effect or a rule would permit you to “roll a hit die” and regain HP, like during a short rest, the die you roll is a d8
As an alternate rule, and sometimes DM’s have you do this, instead of rolling the die to determine your gained HP at level up, you would take the “average” result instead, and that’s usually given right after your hit die in parentheses
I see, thank you so much
Just want to add that you add your constitution modifier to the roll (or average) as well and the minimum is 1. So if you roll a 1 and happen to have a -1 CON modifier, it’s still 1.
im asking on behalf of our little group, so we are made of people that never played dnd but we roleplayed before , and because we are new we dont know how to dm so we thought we could find someone to dm but we don't know how we can do that
Visit #find-a-game for everything you need to start your search, including:
- Instructions for finding a game here on the server (including how to post in our #looking-for channels).
- Suggestions for finding a game outside of this server.
- Basic advice to help you in your hunt.
Okay so, as the bot said #find-a-game will have games for you to join. A fair warning, depending on your Timezone you may struggle a lot to find a DM though.
Nice to hear! Have fun!
Umm so I just joined this server and I wanna find some people who are willing to play with me I'm a sorcerer and I need a dm and I few other players , so do I just go to the #find-a-game ?
Yep, read the info there and decide if you want to make a post yourself or reply to the ads others have posted.
Ok thank you so much
What does the other services tag mean?
Check the listings in #looking-for-players for games that want people, read the details, respond as appropriate and cross your fingers.
Type /looking and select the option for #looking-for-dm to advertise yourself as a new player in search of a group. Be sure to include your regular availability!
There are other Discord servers where people gather for games. You can find them in #looking-for-community .
Aside from here, you could also try LFG areas in sites like Reddit, Roll20 or the D&D Beyond forums to get started.
Thank you so much
Thought I had an answer for that, but I'm left wondering myself! Hopefully one of the mods will know.
We really need to update the form but Other Services was intended to be a place to indicate you're open to other D&D related offerings beyond just finding a game and/or for other D&D games that don't fit the typical D&D game or community D&D game.
Okay, I’ll be honest I still don’t know what that means but I’ll say no to that I guess then 😭
Is this the place
I guess it depends on what you mean! It's certainly one of the places to discuss D&D.
Well then greeting
I have never interact with DND outside of memes and videos
I am just here to ....
See if I want to have more
we like memes and videos too
I definitely like making characters
Though I have never moved past from there
Poke around the server, join in conversations as you feel comfortable. Otherwise I might suggest the following:
- You could read through the Free Rules.
- Or read #learn-to-play.
- Or play the demo.
- Or you could sign up for a learn-to-play session through the virtual weekends linked in the server's Events channel.
believe it or not, many players and DMs have made hundreds of characters that just sorta sit there as pieces of paper and don't get used.
I have... experiences
Making something out of random thoughts without a care if it will fit with other things
And because it doesn't fit
It sits in void
have you ever thought of building something around it that fills parts of the void?
Let us not go to that planet
It's a silly place
Sometimes folks focus on the imagination part of the game where you can do almost anything, forgetting that it is a social game. Meaning the ability to compromise is a major asset!
sometimes silly gets it done. Legends of Avantris certainly has fun.
I am certainly not familiar with DND stories or western works
Hmmm
When was the last time I watched a movie
absurd works too. the Wendy's restaurant chain created their own setting and campaign for D&D. the candy NERDS has their own setting and campaign.
Is there book or novel format?
(hmm which one should I chose first.........)
(Obviously it is gonna be one with cowboys and dinosaurs)
that'd be something close to anything taking place in Chult in the Forgotten Realms, or Ixalan from Magic: the Gathering. although I don't know of any novels, i think the Maztica setting satisfied the central american dinosaur kinda situation.
I see I see
Forgotten realms
well, Chult is a bit more nautical jungle with pirates, zombies, dinosaurs, and various combinations of those.
I am interested in trying out mechanic of the games
See how does it work with giving an anchor to the characters I make
Though it is less likely that I will get to play
pick a pre-generated character for your first time playing, then you won't get emotionally attached to them. you're focused on more learning how things work.
Is there places to try playing on my own?
that is more difficult using the D&D system. generally, the Dungeon Master has more knowledge and information about what is going on that the Players. there is secret knowledge related to past, current, and future events within the game.
when you are playing the game "solo" you are acting as the Dungeon Master and the Player at the same time. it is difficult to separate what the player's character in the game should and should not know.
I see
I just thought with my time zone and my habit of only doing texts wouldn't fit with others' way
there are games called "play by post" that use only text. and as far as time zones go, games happen at strange times everywhere. you may find a game that happens in another part of the world works out for your schedule.
however, you CAN play D&D solo, it just needs some extra steps. you can search the internet for solo D&D toolkits or solo D&D adventures. those have resources or entire adventures designed for playing them alone.
Yeah...
I don't think I am ready for dming if I am trying to learn the rules by playing it
Guess it is game hunting week for now
there is also the option of writing a story and using the mechanics of D&D as things in the background.
other than the basic rules on Dndbeyond (or the Essentials Kit rulebook pdf thats still free on the WotC server), i highly suggest you read the pdf of Peril in Pinebrook. that is an adventure that is one of the best and most efficient way to learn what it is like to actually sit and play, or sit and run D&D. you can read it all the way through by yourself. you can sit there and practice sending a character through it by yourself. it doesn't teach the rules, but it teaches the flow of the game.
also, D&D is a game that uses language and words to run it. it is very fault tolerant because mistakes happen and can be easily rolled back or corrected or even skipped over by the people at the table (providing everyone agrees).
I see
Thank you
I will check that file out
if you need some formal lessons, there is a discord server called Altrole that has regular classes on many topics to play or run D&D. the classes are free, and you can sign up to however many you feel you need. i have not been there in a while, but i remember the people on that server to be fairly friendly and helpful.
This suddenly got more serious than I expected
But I will try tackling bit by bit
talking in silly voices and throwing math rocks to fight imaginary monsters can sometimes get serious. and sometimes it can be memes for laughs. every table is different.
I do like funny rocks
funny rocks yes yes
often it can be a mix. the campaign i'm playing in right now is about a group of adventurers trying to free an ancient fallen soldier from a curse. i forget exactly why, but i'm sure we'll find out. despite the fairly serious tone, my current goal as a player is to make my dumb character generally look as ridiculous as i can though their various equipment. currently he looks like a very tall and skinny Batman as if equipped through Temu. my character is dumb as rocks, but i'm not being disruptive to the other players and what they want to accomplish.
Especially if rocks start to speak
So batman 🏏
Someone give me a name for an human artificer please gang
Oregon the artificer
Male or female?
Wretched
Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out the rules of D&D and set up a server so my friends and I can play. But I don't really know the game well—I only played once a long time ago. Can anyone help me out?

Does the periapt of wound closure stop you from dying ? Since you cant fail death saves ? If i get healed from death do i get a failure ?
It doesn't stop you from dying exactly. You still need to make all three saves, be stabilized, or be healed. Enemies could still attack you when you're at O HP and thus give you failed saves. As for being healed, you wouldn't get any failed death save from that.
Can a Evocation wizard use spells that aren't Evocation?
Yep!
Ty
oddly our group plays without attacking downed players because someone got mad over being multiattack oneshotted lol
Perfectly fine. Unless you work out something else with your table, though, you still need to roll. Plus, you could always roll a 20 for a death save and be conscious with 1 HP rather than just being stabilized.
heey! ^^ im new to dnd and i really wanna play but is super nervous is there anything i should prepare before starting?
Start with reading the basics in the bot. then if u have questions come on back and ask away

When doing character creation in dnd beyond, do I only select e5.5 for source?
Up to the group/table to decide what sources will be used for their game
I'd go ahead and stick with 5.5 for now
Ok
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/162793843/02dX4F I made something of this, suggestions are welcome
Make sure to take your starting equipment
I thought I selected it
Currently the sheet doesn't show any equipment
Ok now?
Nice start!
It's okay to equip your daggers (click the box next to the item until it's filled in - that means it's equipped)
And backpack
Ok
I'd maybe swap your charisma and dexterity scores as a higher dexterity will improve your armor class.
After that, then it's time to pick spells.
I have the standard spells no?
