Most of them don't have launch dates yet, but you should at least have the character sheet preorder bonuses now.
I assume future launches of each individual piece will be announced on DNDB's blog.
I'm not seeing the character sheet bonuses yet. I'll check again tomorrow.
You might need to sync your entitlements on your account page.
They're showing for me.
How do I go about doing that?
- Go to Main DNDB Page
- Top right of screen, hover over your name, select Account
- In list of tabs, select Licenses
- At the top is a section that says "Account Entitlements." If things are out of sync, there's a button there to sync things, otherwise it says "Your entitlements are in Sync!"
Because of volume management, these things do not happen automatically but are instead queued.
Hello, I come back from long time stop on the Beyond website, are the Bundle no more for sell (Legenrady Bundle etc...), the one with all Adventure or one with all book etc..
Bundles have been discontinued as a purchasing option
If you have previously purchased a bundle, the associated discount will still be applied
Ok it's the little "Bundle Save" tag when making purchase?
No, that's for purchasing the digital and physical versions together; the digital version will be discounted down to $10 when you do that
Ok thanks for the info
How do I get discounts for owned content (ie I have subclass, spells etc but now want to purchase the full book)?
You will need to contact customer service to have any previously-owned single content discounts applied.
If you have an issue with D&D Beyond purchases or subscriptions, you may need to contact customer support. To do so, please go to http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket and submit a ticket.

To clarify, only the PHB preorder bonuses have been released.
They haven’t yet said when the DMG/MM bonuses or the bundle-specific bonuses will be available.
This channel is for getting support with D&D Beyond site, tools, and services
I'm afraid sale precognition is not included in the scope of that support
Is there any way to show retainers from MCDM's flee mortals on the dnd beyond character sheet?
You could create your specific retainer as a homebrew monster and add it under Extras.
But there’s no built-in support specific to retainers.
I waited a day, but my PHB Preorder bonuses have not come in yet. I checked the licences part of my account, but they're not on there. What should I do?
Did you get a receipt via email for the purchase? Can you confirm that you were actually charged?
If you were actually charged and you have a receipt, you should contact customer support.
Did you purchase it directly on D&D Beyond, or through dndstore.wizards.com?
If it’s the latter, you should have received an email at the time of purchase containing a redemption code.
Wizards. I live in Australia, so that was where I had to place the order through.
I'm not seeing any codes though.
Check your spam folder,
No luck.
Nevermind. I just reread the purchase details, and found what I was missing. Got the dice and sheet stuff now.
Even though I couldn't buy the triple book bundle, I do hope that buying all 3 in the same transaction qualifies me for the artbook and digital mini.
I recently bought the curse of strahd from the market place and I am missing the entire chapter 1 maps for some reason (digital version)
Buying any one of them qualifies
The bundle exclusive pre-order bonus applies to any of the six available bundles
@crude dew I have no idea what a jitf file is
Chapter 1 doesn't have any maps, that chapter is "Into the Mists"
Sorry. Fixing it now.
You don't need to post a screenshot
It's know that the copy regarding the bonuses is confusing right now
Here was my main piece of info I was using.
Yeah, that middle column isn't 100% clear
Here is a post detailing the pre-order schema per my latest understanding
Ok. I think I got it now.
Did DDB stop using paypal?
I am looking to get the players guide so I can get access to more stuff in the character creator. If I preorder the 2024 players guide, will I get access to the character creator stuff or do I have to get the old one?
If you pre order the 2024 players handbook, when it releases you'll get access to the options it contains
You won't get access to the 2014 PHB options
Got it, thanks!
So I signed up for Project Sigil for this Fall. I was wondering if there were plans to have a specific DDB area here for any kind of communications between testers?
Or is it mostly going to be handled on the DDB forums?
No plans have been announced
How long does it take to change a nickname?
Usually no more than a day. I normally check them once a day if I'm not on vacation.
Is there a timeline or an announcement post for when 2024 content will be live in the DDB character builder and what content (if any) will be automatically pushed to characters?
Will there be content that is automatically pushed to characters that don’t have access to the 2024 PHB?
The 2024 Players Handbook material will be available at least 2 weeks before the official release date to users who have preordered and have master tier subscription, one week for those who preordered and have a hero tier subscription. Otherwise the book will be available on the release date. No other announcements have been made.
How about character builder support? Will people that are still looking to play by 2014 rules be forced at any point to use 2024 rules in the builder (for example, I’m seeing lots of (2014) tags on certain features, but not for spells.
The 2014 rules will continue to be supported - it's still 5th edition.
But no announcements have been made on how the new 2024 materials and 2014 materials will work in the tools yet.
Thank you. I hope this announcement is made soon so people in active campaigns can plan accordingly and not have disruptions due to surprise changes.
The 2024 core rulebooks are separate book purchases, therefore there should be no assumption of access to the new options without purchase, let alone having it "forced" on any character
More worried about surprise updates for those who may not want to use the new rules yet, especially when the basic rules and the SRD are eventually updated. Please do not assume my intentions and please respect my ping preferences in the future.
Hai hai Im new here but I need help, idk how to delete bookmarks and it's literally covering all my bookmarks. I can't find my saved ones for our campaign.
On iOS, at least, you can swipe left to delete. Alternatively, you can click Edit in the top right corner, then use the red buttons on the left.
I didn't not assume your intentions and I'm sorry for the ping, I thought I had disabled
I was making a general statement about anyone making any assumptions; this channel and the answers/responses given are referenced by others
Question: On the D&D Beyond page, it says on the page for the 2024 Player's Handbook that "The Digital edition is only $10 when you choose Digital + Physical." But when I select the Digital + Physical option, it jumps from $49.99 to $79.98. That's not a $10 jump, but $30...
Never mind, I added it to my cart and it updated the price....
Hi folks, one question: since some content is being revised in the 2024 PHB, players who have access to old versions on D&D Beyond now will have to buy the 2024 PHB to see the new version?
Example: will I have to buy the 2024 PHB to see the new Counterspell spell, or will I be able to see the new version without buying the book since I already can see the old version of it?
It's a new book and so you will need to buy the book to gain access to it's options; the same as any other book previously
Thank you. Do we know how Avrae is going to handle it?
If I type !cast counterspell will it draw it from whatever option I have on my sheet?
Nothing has been announced regarding any specifc integrations of the 2024 Player's Handbook
However, it is likely it will somehow resemble how legacy vs non-legacy options are handled
Does anyone know if DDB stopped using paypal? I got an email saying my payment for my subscrtion is on hold. WHen I click on the link it takes e to a page to cancel my sunscriton. Looking around the site I don't see a way to update my subscription with paypal?
D&D Beyond has not officially stopped using Paypal. if there's an issue with your paypal payments, you'll need to contact Customer Support

I did, days ago. I guess I'll just wait and hope someone contacts me before my game.
Thanks for the post.
So what is going on with all the 504 gateways recently the site has barely been working, Is there a large amount of maintence going on or whats the deal?
Can you be more specific? What part of the site are you trying to access?
A 504 error indicates a gateway timeout which can occur both user and client side
Any section, ive looked thought my end and my end is fine beyond is the only site with the issue
Well I've just accessed the homepage, various listings, and various compendiums with no issue. So that would point to a client or localised issue rather than server side
Hm weird cause i am not the only person i have seen saying this. Ill just wait it out
That would point to possibly a local node issue
Do we know if people who are Master Tier subbed to DDB and have early access to the books will be able to turn on content sharing for those books before the full (later) release date?
To be clear: I'm specifically looking for a Yes/No answer from either a moderator or someone who works in the customer support side of DNDBEYOND.
That's unfortunate but I appreciate the response - thank you
Nothing has been announced about any specifics to do with the D&D Beyond implementation of the 2024 Player's Handbook.
I am not saying it won't be shareable, just that I do not have any information regarding sharing
Hi! One of my players equipped and attuned to the boomerang shield, but noticed it doesn't show the shield's ranged attack in their attack options or even under "Other Actions". Is this a bug? I figure we can use a custom action to make up for it right now, but I can't seem to get the attack action to show up in my sheets either.
Magic items cannot currently affect actions like Feats can on DNDBeyond. As you noted, you can add a Custom Action on the character's sheet to create the action for yourself, however.
Quick question: Is there any way to add the maximum hp feture that dragon sorcerer has
create a homebrew copy of the berserker axe and look at how it's done there, then add it to an item in the homebrew menu
if you mean draconic resilience, it should be adding automagically
unless you mean add it without adding the class
For a homebrew subclass, I’m making
then do this
or substitute the berserker axe with the draconic sorc subclass
both show you how to do it
give it a class feature, give that class feature a modifier: type is bonus, subtype is hit points per level, then the amount per level in fixed value
Thanks
i've been willing to buy some digital books from the beyond marketplace but i mostly get an error (see annex).
when i go to my account to review everyting i see that my adress is missing. but i can not complete my adress because Belgium is not in the list of country's.
Are you buying only digital books? If buying the physical + digital books bundle you’ll need to use the Wizards of the Coast store for your region
yes only digital
Huh. Okay in that case please open a customer support ticket

Does anyone get this problem? every time I try to view campaigns on my phone, it just infinitely loads.
Okay, how do you add spells to a homebrew subclass
If it follows an established pattern for that class (like a cleric's Domain Spells), you can simply add it by name under Basic Information in a field called Additional Specific Spells.
Otherwise, you can add them using the Spells or Additional Spell List section inside a subclass feature.
Using Spells actually gives them the spell. Using Additional Spell List simply adds the spell to their spell list, making it available for them to choose as one of their normal spells.
Thanks
So, any idea on how I could get this feture to work?
Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to channel the radiant magic of the celestial realms to heal your allies. As a bonus action, you can spend 2 sorcery points to restore a number of hit points equal to 2d8 + your Charisma modifier to a creature you can see within 30 feet of you.
Additionally, whenever you cast a spell that restores hit points, you can add your Charisma modifier to the amount of hit points restored.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Are staff aware of broken dndbeyond features for mobile devices?
Example: when you click spell lookups by class the purple advance filter apply settings button disappears. It works under “all spells”.
Several other sub pages loss the purple button i forget the other ones observed.
The team is aware, yes
- Inside your class feature, there's an Actions section that can be used to set up the bonus action.
- I'd recommend making a homebrew copy of Life Domain to see how they set that up. I think it's a Modifier with:
- Type: Bonus
- Subtype: Spell Group - Healing
- Ability: Charisma
- When you set up the Action in step 1, make sure to select a Reset Type. Then after you save it, you should see a Limited Use section at the bottom.
Thank you so much
Is there a way to make a version of rage?
Rage is just a bunch of text attached to a use-limited feature. You can do that with a class feature or feat fairly easily!
Which books are exactly "noncore dnd content"?
Those are mostly charity releases.
So i bought the new PHB, DMG and MM bundle for 2024 both Digitala nd Physical, and i have their digital codes, should i be applying them in DND Beyond now or wait for release, - i applied the PHB one - and there was an error? Not sure if i obtained access for future once released.
You should be able to redeem them already. How long ago did you get that error?
Does it show the PHB here under Current Product Licenses? If so, the code was redeemed successfully.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
Thanks i see it - i claimed the DMG - not the PHB - and gave an error at the time, ill see if i can claim the other two with no issue and report back.
But originally got that weird error around start of July 2nd or 3rd when i tried to redeem.
Thanks all sorted.
Yeah, there was an earlier issue where codes would display an error but still redeem successfully. That issue has already been fixed.
My store has a campaign they use to share books with people who are playing but there was a recent update to d&d beyond and it's only showing me PHB, DMG, EE, and basic rules for sources
Is that a new thing or am I doing something wrong?
Someone in the camapign must have an active Master Tier subscription and have content sharing enabled in the campaign. Then whatever books folks have access to can be shared in that campaign.
Additionally you should make a character inside that campaign to access all the shared material.
If you make a character outside of that campaign, you will be limited to only books you personally have access to.
ah ok it worked before, maybe their sub expired or something
can anyone explain to me why i keep getting disadvantage on stealth for medium and heavy armor, even tho im proficient in all of them
Can you provide a link to the character sheet?
Because proficiency doesn't override the Stealth pentalty
can u explain more on it
Armor Proficiency. Anyone can put on a suit of armor or strap a shield to an arm. Only those proficient in the armor's use know how to wear it effectively, however. Your class gives you proficiency with certain types of armor. If you wear armor that you lack proficiency with, you have disadvantage on any ability check, saving throw, or attack roll that involves Strength or Dexterity, and you can't cast spells.
The rules explain it ☝️
Will the 2024 character creator be available on Sept 3rd for the early release? I currently have the physical 2024 PHB but there are no 2024 character sheets.
Nothing has been announced regarding specifics
Got it. Thanks.
When was the sage advice compendium last updated? It doesn't list a date like they used to do on the WotC site. Has WotC just been releasing errata without telling people or have they just stopped doing errata?
This channel is for getting support with using D&D Beyond. We can't provide information outside that I'm afraid
The SAC on D&D Beyond has never had a compiled list of errata releases.
unfortunate that it doesn't have a date on it. Thanks
I was asking about the SAC on DDB and when that was last updated, is that beyond your purview to answer as well?
The last published update for the SAC was in December 2021.
Just to clarify, though, the SAC is not errata itself.
Your question seemed focused on the last Sage Advice Compendium update (which itself isn't a D&D Beyond matter, DDB just hosts a copy of it) and WotCs current errata plans. As such, neither appeared on topic for this channel. As for the DDB hosted SAC, that is up to date with most recent SAC release
Trying to log into a new phone, can't seem to sign in with gmail
My account is already set up as far as I know so not sure why it's popping up. Either that or I am being a huge doofus
Like when I try logging in when I go to Open Settings, it says the account is already on my phone.
I had to create and link a Wizard's account to solve this issue myself.
Hrm, you might have to reach out to Support to get them combined or something.
Oh, another possibility--
Delete the entire app and all data and then fully reinstall.
I've had this help in particular with DNDB's app issues on update.
When in doubt, kill it then ressurect~! I'll be back to say if anything changed
D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
Still the same problem, might have to do customer support yeah, thanks guys
how would i change the range of an item, ie make a spear have a longer thrown range ?
I'm not sure if goes here or in another thread (apologies in advance). How will D&DB handle the new material after the official release of the 2024 books?
Nothing specific has been announced yet
There isn't really a good way to do this. Range, Damage Die, Damage Type, Properties, Etc are all part of the base weapon and are not able to be changed as customization on the character sheet or in Homebrew. The best advice is to find a weapon that matches what you want, maybe a Javelin, and rename it as a spear.
ive been advocating for this for years, ddb rly oughta let us create our own weapon types
It's a known desire - devs are aware of it
homebrewing class features is another thing i wish were possible but you can only do so much
like hb eldritch invocations or channel divinity
homebrew pact boons PLEASE 🙏
also so i can dump the new sorcerer features in the old class progressions
"smth smth retrocompatible"
Hello! I'm having trouble with DDB on my computer, the dice is rolling very slowly and I've cleared my cookies and updated my game drivers. I don't know what else to try?
You can disable digital dice rolling on your character sheet.
Manage > Character Settings > Dice Rolling
Oh that's neat, but I like seeing the dice bounce around
I got it! I found a thread on a DDB forum, thank you Dusk!
i used to be subscribed and i added homebrew collection stuff like custom races
no longer subscribed, cant delete said homebrew because im not subscribed
i wanna delete it, not make new ones or add new ones
Something seems to have gone horribly wrong in the backend:
character sheets and homebrew creation are code 500ing
I believe it's the regular server maintainence window
I was going to purchcase a thing from a book on DNDBeyond, but it seems that I cannot buy individual items anymore, only the full book, am I just being a bit of a dummy and can't find it, or has that been changed recently?
A la cart purchasing is no longer available at this time with the new marketplace.
This has probably been asked before, but will the pre-order bundle for all three physical + digital books (including the pre-order bonuses) ever become available on the partner site for those of us outside of the US? That's the bundle I want, but I live in Canada and have been waiting for that bundle to appear on the partner site.
If you order any bundle (a bundle being two or more products as a single listing) you will get
- The pre-order bonuses specific to the products in that bundle
- The exclusive pre-order bonuses for ordering a bundle (digital art book, digital mini, golden anniversary dice)
For example
- You pre-order the digital + physical Player's Handbook bundle. You will get the PHB pre-order bonuses and the exclusive pre-order bonuses
Oh, great! The additional exclusive items (listed in your #2 item) are not mentioned on the partner site, so I thought they were exclusive to US customers.
Getting that copy updated is still something that's in flight I'm afraid
Noted, thank you for the clarification.
If I buy the 2024 physical and digital bundle, do the physical books ship individually on release?
Yes
thank you!
Party member is having trouble looking at the bard page.
Yeah, that's a known issue.
Alright, thanks!
The encounter builder seems to have a problem right now to display tooltips of talents, senses, spells and conditions? Basically every tooltip… While no problem on the “View Details Page” it seems to be broken in the builder.
What kind of problem?
Tooltips are just not shown. Everything shows in brackets “tooltip not found”. Shall I post a screenshot? Tested with Chrome, Safari and Firefox.
Tried with 3 different devices now. Does also not matter which creature I use, seems to be a problem at the source.
No problem. Lurking on the details page to get the info worked as a temp solution and our session is now finished - good night I guess and hopefully it is fixed tomorrow evening for my other group 😛
So ive been having this issue where all the campaigns I'm in arent showing their contents, even though they should be. This is all I'm getting shown and it's getting frustrating
How much do the DDB Hero and Master subscriptions cost in USD? I'm looking on the website and it says $2.17 and $4.58 a month respectively, But I was thinking that they are way too arbitrary numbers to be in USD so I was thinking they must be in my local currency but just want to make sure before purchasing
D&D Beyond does not do localised currency. Those prices are for the annual subscriptions divided by 12, which is why they say starting at
ahh a shame
A shame?
yea because I dont have $3.62, I only have $2.17 in my local currency.
ah, ok
Is there any guidance on how the 2014 classes will be supported on DDB after the release of the new PHB?
Nothing specific has been announced
Is Content Sharing still enabled for that campaign? Does the person who enabled it still have an active subscription?
Is the character shown in your screenshot assigned to that campaign?
If you go to this page, does it say your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
Anyone have any idea what the background allows you to write one spell scroll per day ?
I’m not sure. This channel is for getting help with D&D Beyond, though. #dnd-discussion can help with any questions about the game itself.
Is there a way to create new modifier subtypes? For example, if I wanted to create an item that added a modifier specifically to cantrip spells.
I can see one for cleric cantrip damage but not for any other class
There is not.
With the 2024 new spells out, how will something like Arcane Vigor (spend hit die to heal) work? Unless I'm doing something wrong, I didn't think the DndBeyond character sheets allowed you to spend hit die if you weren't taking a short rest.
Sorry if this has been asked already. I searched but didn't find anything in either ddb channel here or via google. And I didnt see anything about a new dndbeyond sheet/rules for next month (it's only 39 days away!)
They haven't really given any details yet.
I am not sure if this has been reported before, this has been a problem for a while for me. The character sorting does not work on all character names. In my screenshot I am sorting Z to A, but there are a few with acronyms and repeating letters that are not being sorted correctly.
It appears as though its is correctly sorting from Z to A, but upper case and lower case letters are their own categories
Its sorting by lowercase z-a first, then upper case Z-A after that
Which is correct sorting. Capitals come before lower case, or visa versa if sorting Z-A
I'm trying to make a payment through PayPal but it's not working. I've heard it's probably my fault for being Canadian and for that I can only say I'm sorry.
It says PayPal Payment options are invalid. Please select another payment method. The speculation is that it's because there's no place to put a province in. I'm sure I've used my PayPal account to purchase content from D&D Beyond before.
You may need to reach out to customer service for help with this payment issue.

On the mobile app make it easier to “return to your character” instead of “return to the campaign or your characters list” when switching between screens.
Example, click the “squares” icon then select skills. If you click the back arrow in the top left corner, it takes you back to the character selection sheet instead of your character sheet. Have it take you back to your character not the “select a character screen”
Upper left corner return arrow. Have it instead take you back to “ability , saves, senses” screen unless you are already on this screen the back arrow from that page should be the only one to take you to character selection.
You currently have to click the red squares and remember to click the right option or cause a delay at your table trying to get back into the campaign and character.
Instead of “back to previous screen” its like “exit completely take you to character selection screen” can be frustrating when its your turn.
Thanks!
Hey! How do you homebrew a natural armor feature? Something similar to autognome or locathah. Will this set it to 12+DEX or will it just set my AC to 12?
It adds 10+DEX automatically.
So remove the Ability Score, and change Fixed Value to 2.
And change "set" to "bonus"?
No, keep Set.
Wait, so help me figure out the math here. Like I'll do that but I also want to understand why it works. Shouldn't "set" be "this value will override the following feature" while "bonus" is "this value will be added to the folowing feature"?
Does your feature provide its own AC calculation, or does it add a bonus to an existing AC?
If it’s the former, you want Set.
If it’s the latter, you want Bonus.
Autognome and locathah would both use Set.
It's the former! And this makes sense, I think.
Well, another question then— if my feature worked like Tortle's flat AC feature, how would I go about implementing it
That uses like three different modifiers. I don’t remember them all off the top of my head.
But if you select any existing race as a template when you create a homebrew, it will give you an exact copy.
Then you can peek inside and see how it was set up.
Also. How do you do Tasha's customized ASIs, languages and proficiencies?
Most races nowadays are just built with that flexibility as the default.
But if you want to make it an opt-in thing like the older species, you’d need to add a Racial Feature, set the Feature Type as “Replacement”, and then choose the feature you want it to replace (like your default ASI).
Is there a way to sell items inDDB? I purchased some armor that I can’t use. Well I can use it but my unarmored bonus gives me a higher AC
Each mundane item has a cost visible in the character sheet, and if your DM for your campaign says you can sell it, then you and the DM can work together to decide if you sell it at full price or not. Then you can add the currency you make to your character sheet.
Any easy way to add a spell to a character that isn't listen in their class' spell list?
Just a freebie spell
The easiest way is to create a Homebrew feat or magic item that adds it and give it to yourself, which would add any spell you want with no strings attached. It’s not as simple as typing it in directly on the sheet due to the way DNDB works, however.
Sorry for so many questions tonight— and if I'm looking to make a feat that adds a spell to whatever my class's spell list is, how do I go about doing that?
This should be for a background, but the spell list background thingie did nothing so I thought that turning it into a feat would be better
I did this, but these spells dont show up on my sheet
If you want to add a list of spells to your class's spell list you need to do it with a homebrew subclass. If you want to just add the spells to your sheet, you just add them in a feat here:
Is this how stuff like the Strix backgrounds is implemented? I would check it for myself but I never bought Strixhaven, but I do remember them having a "x spells get added to your class list" thing
Backgrounds have a separate section for adding spells to a spell list. That's also an approach you could take if you wanted.
I usually prefer feats or magic items because they're more modular (I can add/remove them as needed), but the backgrounds definitely get the job done.
Yeah, the Additional Spell List section of a homebrew background, subclass, or race will do what you’re looking for.
Note also that homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to appear on your character sheet.
So if you changed it and checked immediately, you might have had it right and the changes just hadn’t shown up yet.
i cant read >.<
If you already bought the three-book digital bundle, you’re already getting the dragon.
5e conversions of 3.5e are allowed to be public, right?
Depends on whether the original material is licensed to be repurposed and redistributed - but we can not provide legal advice.
How do I fix a billing issue?

As for the issue at hand, it depends because you have to either contact your bank or open a ticket with D&D Beyonds customer service
Apologie and thanks
Oh wahoo!!!!!!!!!!
And any way to make them always prepared like subclass spells?
If it’s a homebrew subclass and these are following a standard set of rules for that class, like Domain Spells, there’s a box under Basic Information called “Additional Specific Spells”.
You can just put the name there, and you’re done.
If these follow rules of their own or if it’s not a subclass, it’s a little more involved.
When I'm creating a magic item which allows you to cast spells, it won't let add custom spells or some spells I can see in the spell list. Is there any way around this?
There is not, you can only add SRD spells to homebrew
I should clarify, if you want to publish your homebrew, you can do the following:
- Integrating spells so they're castable/added to spell lists/etc - SRD only
- Linking to spells via tooltips - all spells except homebrew
You can integrate non-SRD spells (including homebrew I think) and also hyperlink to spells, but you won't be able to publish if you do
yeah, I don't wish to publish
I just want the item to be able to add a spell to the player's character sheet
specifically it's flock of familiars
but it won't appear in the list of spells I can add to the item
Do you own the source or is it being shared with you?
shared
Hiya! I was wondering if there's a way of going to a previous version of an online character sheet. I deleted my backpack with everything in it by accident and I don't know how to get it back
There isn't
I'm feeling a bit stupid that I can't figure this out, so sorry for the dumb question. How do I search only in a specific book using the website? On my iPad I can either "Search Everything" or search only within the book I have open. I can't figure out how to do that on my desktop. Is there a way?
You can't on the site, that's not currently something offered
Oh, that's alright. I bit relieved actually. I was starting to think I was going crazy. Thanks ^^
No worries
I posted a subclass that had multiple issues I only notice after posting it. Can I delete it somehow?
If you've published it, no. You'll have to make a new version using the Create New Version option, fix the errors, and publish that
well issue is that I used another subclass as basis, and left a lot of its features accidentally in there because I am new to homebrew creation
so when actually aplied on a character in character creation it unfortunately shows up many of those features
That doesn't change anything; you cannot delete/unpublish published homebrew. You can only publish a revised version
does revised version get rid of the older version?
No, it just becomes the version people see when browsing published homebrew
The previous versions will appear in it's version history and anyone who has added the old version will not see any change unless they remove it and add the newer version
Basically, it’s done this way so folks using the older versions of your Homebrew don’t end up with broken character sheets.
For some reason my D&D Beyond is displaying white text and i don't know why
Is there a way to fix this
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
So I got one of the early release PHBs at Gen Con. I also saw where you get a free digital mini on ddb for preordering the book bundle. I ordered the 3 digital and 2 physical books. Since I already have the PHB. I’m assuming that means I won’t get the digital mini?
I have a quick question. I have tried and tried searching for an answer but I'm getting conflicting things. Is it no longer possible to purchase individual races from the website? I only wanted the drow race and not the entire book. does anyone happen to know?
Ala carte purchasing was removed with the new marketplace.
im trying to do a sorcerer character on dnd beyond, but i cant find chromatic orb on the 'add spells' list
can someone help me with that please?
Sure. I can try. First thing, can you open this page?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/2312-chromatic-orb
why do i have to buy it on digital i have the players handbook irl
There are four ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books
- Purchase the full digital book from the marketplace
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from the marketplace
- Join a DnDBeyond campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond. Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way, it is for personal use only
It’s the same reason that owning a physical copy of a novel doesn’t automatically give you an audiobook version of it as well. Different media formats need to be purchased separately.
quick question for a barbarian build is there an ability that can help me reduce or be immune to cc let me give u a scenario lets say my team uses entangle can I reduce the effects or be immune to the effects
When is 2024 coming out
Like any specific dates
September 17 is the official release date for the 2024 Players Handbook
#character-discussion can help with that. (This channel is for getting help with D&D Beyond.)
ah ok thanks
i pre ordered the digital 2024 players hand book so as a hero tier subscriber will get access the week before it comes out
Correct
My players often complain about getting kicked out of / having to reload DND Beyond when they tab out, but I’ve never had this issue. Why might this be?
Without knowing more details about what browser they're using, what browser extensions they are running, what their network setup is like, if they are using a 3rd party antivirus, etc. - can't really say.
We do know that:
- Browser extensions can interfere with DnDbeyond (Beyond20, AboveVTT, AdBlocker, sometimes pass word managers(!), etc.)
- 3rd party antivirus tools can block/interfere with DnDBeyond functionality
- Browsers not configured to use best GPU available can have issues (with Maps/dice rolling)
- Outdated browsers/systems may not work
- Blocking 3rd party cookies on DnDBeyond can cause issues
- Somethimes browser cache gets out of sync and needs to be cleared
if one of my friends has a master tier sub and i get the 2024 phb early is it shared
I believe it can be shared early via the content sharing feature
Seems like it might be a stretch to get it early if the person buying the book isn't the one that has the master tier in the shared campaign.
Oh wait - to get early access to the book the one preordering the book would need to have an active subscription.
That said, the content from the book would be shared in a DnDBeyond campaign with content sharing enabled.
i have a question about dnd beyond. does any one know how dnd beyond will operate with the 2014 rules and characters and also with the new 2024 rules and characters created? for example can i create both a 2014 character and a 2024 character if i have access to both books?
no one knows yet
All we know is that DnDBeyond will support both 2014 and 2024 content. How this will exactly work has not been announced.
Can anyone tell me how to remove a player from my campaign? I’ve read a bit here and in the website; is it as simple as deleting their character? Will they still have access to the campaign page?
Removing all their characters will remove them from the campaign.
You can also re-generate the invite link to prevent any old links from being used. They’d need the new link to rejoin.
Hi there! I was wondering why the drow race isn't available?
You’d need the 2014 Player’s Handbook to be able to access it.
Or your character would need to be in a campaign where that book is shared.
Ahhhh tyty
I own the physical copy , do I really need to buy it on the app or would there be a way to scan it to unlock?
Doing this won’t affect the other players, though, correct? I wondered if that would be a viable method of getting them out.
Anyone with characters still in the campaign will remain there.
If you’ve got the physical book, you could use the homebrew tools to recreate that race.
Ah will try so if I can ty
Question. I created a couple of characters. My character page doesn't match my actual character. The stats load into Foundry and In game on Beyond shows fine. Wondering how I update the sheet on my phone. PC shows up fine.
If you go back to your list of characters, does the row for that character show a green checkmark on the right?
Weird. My only thoughts are to reinstall the app and log back in. Possibly it got desynced or its data is corrupted on the device somehow.
I can't load any character sheets
What happens when you try to load a character sheet?
Is it any character sheet, or just your own?
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
Any character sheet, it just says "A beholder has appeared and ruined everything"
So nothing has changed, I got a game tomorrow. Does anyone have any clue to what I can do?
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
same browser and can't do other device
also when I go into my characters, it shows a blank page inside dndbeyond
Does "same browser" mean you got the same result in another browser, or that you've only tried the one browser?
Trying multiple browsers can help us figure out whether it's an issue with a specific browser, or something more widespread (like your device or your account).
Is there any chance you just aren’t logged in? It could be that have your character sheets set to private and are trying to access them while not signed in
I'm signed in and it doesn't work for different browsers
Okay so I checked with another device and it works now. Thank ya'll for helping, do you know why that one device might not of worked?
Are you using a VPN or some kind of security software like Kaspersky?
Na
Out of curiosity, which browsers did you try?
Chrome and explorer
I'd try it again in Chrome's Incognito mode.
If that works, you can try clearing your cache, disabling extensions, etc.
Is there a trick to get Beyond20 to work again? It used to connect just fine to Roll20, but over the last couple of months, many PC actions fail to activate. For example, clicking on an attack roll sends the roll to Roll20, but clicking on a saving throw only opens up a window in DDB showing what a saving throw is. Same thing with non-specific strength checks, but an Athletics check still goes to Roll20.
Is there a setting we've messed up, for example?
Beyond20 is a 3rd party tool and not supported here. You’d have to find that tool’s Discord server and ask there, I’m afraid!
Can't find Augury in my list of spells. I know it's "optional" feature but how do I find it? I have PHB in my library.
You're trying to add it to a character? What kind of character?
Wizard
You need to own Tasha's Cauldron of Everything to have access to optional class features and their expanded spell lists
And you need to enable that optional feature for your character.
I own several books I've ordered. Can I activate them in beyond?
I did not order through beyond.
no
If you bought physical copies of the books, you cannot get digital copies for free. Only if you bought a digital + phyical bundle
Question - I am a player in one campaign, and a DM of a few others. I want to switch to the new handbook, but the DM of my campaign will not be switching. How will getting the new handbook affect all of my character sheets?
Specifics have not been announced, but it's incredibly unlikely there will be any form of automatic switching or converting of characters
If you want to update a character from the 2014 to 2024 options, you'll most likely have to simply remake them from scratch
Question
answer
Some spells in dnd beyond won't show up
Chromatic orb mainly, also the metamagic option transmuted spell, which used to be there
It’s fairly likely that you don’t own the book they’re from and your character isn’t in a campaign where they are shared with you.
Welp that sucks
I have the handbook irl I don't get why I have to pay 30 dollars for something I don't even need
The same reason that owning a novel IRL doesn’t immediately entitle you to the audiobook or the Kindle version.
It's not that
Im saying it's stupid that these options are locked just because I didn't pay an insane amount of money for just a few things that I barely need
if you own the book irl, you do have the option of recreating anything from it using the homebrew tools
If you Google for “dndbeyond homebrew” you’ll get a lot of hits on the site’s forums with instructions.
Ok
just make sure you dont try to publish whatever you make
Ok
Anyone know how to make custom container's like the bag of holding? I used it as a template but changed the rarity and description but now dosen't appear like a bag ofholding in inevtories
Just add a bag of holding to your inventory, then click on it to customize it.
ok
If I bought the players handbook do I get access to 2014 and 2024 or only one?
only the one you buy
What happens when you try to sign in?
It gives me the option to update it tho
where are you seeing that?
Yeah, they're distinctly two separate books. One isn't supposed to replace the other.
Mobile
It says we released a new version of the book would you like to update now?
can you take a screenshot? its likely just a regular update to the book, they happen frequently
yeah thats just a regular update, its not changing the version
Oh ok lol
I suppose this question was asked many times before but: If I'd want to get dnd beyond digital version of the new core books and I'm from EU country than I should buy those from the wizard store or I can buy those in other retailers as well?
You cannot buy the digital versions from anywhere other than the D&D Beyond marketplace (if you want just the digital version) or dndstore.wizards.com (if you want the digital + physical bundle)
Thanks for the answer. So it's just as I thought. We had this discussion with friends cos we want to have physical books and the digital version that will work on dndb. So we have to buy it on wizards site.
If you want the bundle
You can buy them separately and get the digital version through D&D Beyond
i would like help. i am making a race on dnd beyond and I want to increase the charisma score +2. i went to modifiers and selected bonus under modifier type and charisma score under modifier subtype. how do I add plus 2 to the score because i dont think fixed value does that. help?
Fixed value is where it does that but remember it can take up to 15mins for homebrew edits to show
do i write in 2. Because i want it to add plus 2 to whatever the player picks for the charisma score
Yes. after writing in 2 it should give a +2 to charisma
ok thanks!
Is anyone else missing the "Campaign Only" option for Character Privacy? 🤔
It's showing up fine on one of my campaign-linked characters that I just tested.
Also shows up fine for one that is not in a campaign.
I’ve had this when looking at character sheets of my players to change it for them but never on my own sheet
Just a heads up, friends.
Yep, the team is already aware
I'm trying to make my homebrew weapon a +3 longsword, I can't for the life of me, figure out how to add the +3 bonus! 😭
Can you copy a "Longsword, +3" and use that as your base?
Can also see how it was built
That's smart lol cheers
I'm trying to add some spells to an items, but it's not allowing me to add any custom spells that I grabbed from the homebrew marketplace. Any ideas?
It's only allowing me to add core spells
Another question - I made a mass inflict wounds type of spell, and included it in a feat, but it is showing up as "cast at will" instead of using a spell slot. Can't seem to find, in the spell creation, what is making it do that
Did you set the appropriate spell level up near the top near where you name the spell?
Yep. When i add the feat to my character, it shows that can cast it "at will" at 5th level (the level i set the spell), but not upcast it either, even though I've set the modifier to increase the damage by 1d8 at each higher level slot
Feat spells can't be set to use a spell slot.
Not by us lowly mortals, anyway.
You'd need to use a homebrew subclass for that.
Alright so that explains that, thank you.
Now, does that also answer why it's only showing up as castable at 5th level, when i have have it set to scale higher at 6/7/8/9th?
Not sure on that one. 🤔
The screenshot there looks correct for the scaling, though.
Actually, yeah, it's probably because you're assigning it through a feat.
Spells can only be upcast by using a spell slot, and since the feat doesn't know you can use a spell slot, it's not displaying the higher levels.
So adding the spell through a homebrew subclass instead should fix that issue as well.
Sorry if this has been asked already, but in the change log for the DDB app in the apple app store, it says that support has been added for managing artificer infusions natively in the app. Does that support extend past the little check boxes for actually using the infusions or can I manage the actual infusions? As things stand, if I want to see my infusions, I need to view the sheet in the website under managing character levels. If I'm just missing where that list is, could someone point out what screen I need to go to? Thanks.
So question I can't find a way to add the piety system from theros to my chacter am I missing something
That system isn't natively integrated into D&D Beyond currently
I'm trying to use the D&D Beyond site to create my AL character sheets in but I'm having difficulty with adding in a starting feat (Toughness, Skilled, and Magic Initiate). I got my 1st level character in and and clicked on Manage Feats on the character sheet but I'm only seeing "Grappler" and "Svirfneblin Magic". I can't see any others on that sidebar. Did I miss turning some sort of switch on?
I'm homebrewing a subclass in DNDB and one of the features allows a character to cast one of three spells once per short rest. How do I set this up so that if they cast one of the three spells, they can't cast the other spells until they've completed a short rest?
You need to have access to those options. They're not free
?books
There are four ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books
- Purchase the full digital book from the marketplace
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from the marketplace
- Join a DnDBeyond campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond. Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way, it is for personal use only
So actually having bought the physical books from another source won't cut it. Wow.
D&D Beyond has no way of knowing you own the book
But look at option 4 in the info box I posted
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond.
That is how you get content from your physical copy of the Player's Handbook that you didn't purchase as a digital + physical bundle into D&D Beyond
They’re referring to the functionality at the bottom of the Inventory section, where you can apply your known infusions to your items.
It’s the same place that’s done on the web site.
I don’t think that’s possible to do in a subclass.
But you could potentially pair it with a homebrew magic item.
Give that item a single charge, and set the three spells up to all use one charge.
Hm, that might be a possibility
You could also make the ability similar to how a Way of Shadow Monk uses their spells.
But it wont track automatically like you are wanting
Those just use Ki Points, which you have to track separately.
Could someone please help me in regards to a ticket I opened up 11 days ago, that has zero traction?
what is the issue?
yea someone from DDB Support
should've clarified
opened a ticket that no one has looked at
whelp. they'll likely tell you that tickets are answered in the order they are received, on business days only
And that submitting multiple tickets can send you back to the end of the line.
where this channel we could try to determine if its something you yourself can fix, or if you'll just need to wait for a response
This channel is for getting general support from the community and mods, not specifically from the CS team
rgr that
11 days is a longer than usual wait but tickets are addressed in the other they're received and responses can take longer during busy periods.
As mentioned, don't submit multiple tickets as the system groups all tickets from the same person together and your position in the support queue is based on your most recent ticket
thanks for teh heads up
I've been trying to make a fighter subclass that is a half caster, but the editing section doesn't seem to work. Is their another spot where i should edit for it to work?
In what way does it not work?
It doesn't show up on the character sheet.
Do you have Homebrew Content enabled for that character?
Yh. I can see the subclass and all, but just the spellcasting feature not working
Is there somewhere I can check if I preordered the new books?
Question regarding username. If a username is taken by an inactive user (this person created the account 3.5 years ago and hasn't been active since), is it possible to take their name? Asking for a friend. 😅
Likely the best spot is your emails or checking your order history through whatever store you would have ordered from.
Not that I'm aware of. You could contact Customer Support but I doubt they'll change a username to an existing username that you don't control/own for fairly obvious reasons.
I'm pretty sure I ordered through dndbeyond but it's not in the order history, I'll look for an email
Yeah, figured it was worth a shot to ask. They have my account name from Discord and other services and it's kind of a bummer they aren't even using it. Thanks!
You need a feature called “Spellcasting” to get the spell slots to appear. It’ll follow the same progression as Eldritch Knight.
I’d also recommend making a homebrew copy of Eldritch Knight to see how they set up their spell list and spellcasting ability.
Then you can do the same for yours.
Does it show here under Current Product Licenses?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
Yep they are there, thanks!
In your Order History tab, make sure you pay attention to this:
Thx. It worked
I have returned again for your assistants 😂. When creating a feature with an action, i wanted to set up a attack roll, but it adds the stat modifier to the damage roll, and i can't remove it.
Just started using Avrae in my own server, and because of that I've been clicking around a bit in DDB.
Somehow this seems to have triggered some issue, and I can't seem to fix it :S
The error showing up is the following:
Status Text: error
Address: https://www.dndbeyond.com/
Date: Thu Aug 15 2024 10:17:18 GMT+0200 (Central European Summer Time)
Request: GET /warning-acknowledgement/get.json```
Clicking the X on this pop-up, and then refreshing the page redirects me to a page to verify I'm human, but this page doesn't seem to work.
Clicking and holding the button slowly "fills up" the button, it then "thinks" for a moment, and shows me the same page again..
Have been using dndbeyond.com for many years without any issues, and I've not changed my browser, nor did I update it since yesterday when I still was able to use DDB without any issues. There are no new extensions added, and Javascript is enabled :S
Anyone got any suggestions?
You'll need to wait I'm afraid, and then try again
The human-detection system (which is actually a third-party library) runs off detecting a suite of behaviours that can be part of natural site usage in rare cases
That popup suggests maybe an extension or plugin is interfering with the site
Weird... Thanks, I'll just have to try later I guess..
Sorry I can't be of more help
I have a question -- if I were to buy the physical & digital bundle of the new core books on Beyond (from the EU site, if that matters), do I have to buy them with the account that will be using it? I would like to buy it as a gift for someone else, and I don't want to accidentally bind the digital versions to my Beyond account ^^
dndstore.wizards.com doesn't use your D&D Beyond account to log in and it's not tied to your account. When you make a purchase from that storefront, you'll recieve a code that can be redeemed by anyone at D&D Beyond
awesome, thank you!
I would like to ask the staff if on 03SEP24 when the pre-orders get early access, are we going to be able to make characters in DDB on that day? Or will there be a different date?
I don't think they've explicitly said either way.
do we know what up with DDB and saving encounters? its been throwing error whole day
What kind of error?
You gave the encounter a name?
Is it linked to a campaign? Are all the characters in that campaign "complete" (race + class + ability scores)?
Remember the weird thing that happened to me Tuna...I had to delete the campaign and re-insert the characters to save encounters
Could be worth a try if you can't find any other explanation, yeah...
I have a question about my pre order of the digital physical bundle
I ordered it, it showed the total amount taken out of my bank account, and now the amount has gone down, is this right or is something wrong?
I believe you get charged only for the digital books to start, then there will be a separate charge once each physical book is shipped.
Oh ok
in the end, just leaving it be for a bit seems to solve the issue as per usual
Where do i go if i wanna redeem books that i got stuff from with a la carte?
Add to cart then contact customer support to get any a la carte discounts applied.
If you have an issue with D&D Beyond purchases or subscriptions, you may need to contact customer support. To do so, please go to http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket and submit a ticket.
Important
- You will need to make an account for the support ticket system. This is not your D&D Beyond account.
- Tickets are responded to in the order they are received and response times depend on how busy the support team is.
- Tickets are grouped by user based on the most recent ticket. Do not submit multiple tickets for the same issue. This will push you down the queue
- The customer support team is active Monday-Friday and work US hours. This means you may not get a response based on your local timezone or weekends.
Gotcha, thanks Noob!
is there a certain list of settings i have to pick for a la carte redemption? Dont wanna ckicl on the wrong stuff
No - just add the book to your cart. Once it's there, go ahead and contact CS and they should be able to apply the discount and then you can finish the transaction.
ah ic ic
My dm in my campaign has a book with metamagic option transmuted spell, yet I can't use it. The book with it even says it was shared to me. What do I do to get it?
Get transmuted spell
Make sure the character you are trying to add it to is made inside of the campaign that the content is shared through
Just to confirm you are making a 3rd level character right?
Yes
It may be an optional class feature but I'm not sure if I'm reading the webpage right
It's for metamagic
The webpage I'm reading says it's an optional feature for metamagic.
Its introduced in Tasha's and they are indeed optional
My dm has tashas
But did you enable the optional class features in your character?
Go to your characters Manage Character Options and toggle the Optional Class Features
I did
my friendings...does anyone know if you can port 3rd party books (like say grimhollow) that you bought before the 3rd party integration into your account? or do you just have to buy it again?
If you want it in a new medium, you must purchase it for that new medium. You could use the Homebrew functionality to recreate anything you personally own, however, and use it for your own campaigns.
thx m8
i was told to go here, how do i homebrew containers on dnd beyond
I want to homebrew a container that can contain 20lbs, because the only other options are boh and backpack
I just noticed the Market Place changed look bc I was gonna buy something from Fizaban's, are you still able to buy individual bits from the book?
As well, the book is full price eventho I own a handful of Fizban's content
Homebrew containers are not possible at this time, though you may be able to just customize one directly on your sheet.
Buying individual items is no longer available. To get the discount for partial content owned, you'll need to contact customer support.
man
How do i make a character for a campaign on mobile?
You'll need your DM to send you an invite link for the campaign.
Then you can create a new character, add one of your existing ones, or choose an unassigned character in the campaign.
y'know, I'm so tired of always getting this message whenever making homebrew
it's always either this, "This homebrew Subclass has data mapped to it that is licensed content or private homebrew. This typically occurs when licensed or private homebrew spells are linked to the Subclass."
like- no, I know for a fact it has the right things for the right levels, and the only place it could be mapped to, is my own homebrew I posted somewhere else
Those warnings only apply if you're trying to publish your subclass for use by the global community.
If you just want to use it with members of the campaigns you're in, it's shared with them automatically and can be used as-is. You can just ignore those warnings altogether.
I know, but I want to share the link with people to show it off
and it's just weird- because like-
my monk- has nothing in common with the circle of spores?
how has this bug not been fixed yet?
That error could be displayed if there’s a description somewhere that’s missing or too short.
Or you could try simply hitting the main save button again to rerun the validation. If you’ve already solved the problem, that error should go away.
Is there an expected ship date for physical phb 2024 preorders from ddb (from the phys/dig combo)
Just a quick one: If I buy any digital copy, does it get put into the options when creating a character on the site?
Buying a book (not compendium) on DnDBeyond unlocks any character builder options contained in that book for use with your DnDBeyond characters or share in a DnDBeyond campaign with content sharing enabled.
Books are like the PHB, Tasha’s, and Xanathar’s bought individually? (Just a tad confused on the difference)
Yes - compendiums are just the text of the books. Buying the actual book unlocks the character builder options of the book as well as the text.
I dont believe compendium is even an option in the new marketplace
Are the extras (dice, backgrounds, etc.) coming when the new phb releases or do you get them after preordering?
The bonuses for preordering the PHB are already available.
If you’ve preordered the three-book bundle, the remaining bonuses have not been released yet.
How long ago did you preorder?
just now, less than 30 minutes ago
Did you do it directly on D&D Beyond, or through dndstore.wizards.com?
If you go to this page, does it say your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/entitlement-resync
just came in! thanks for clarifying man
took longer than i thought i was just making sure they were already out
I bought Player's Handbook 2024 in pre-order on dnd beyond dice I got immediately, the handbook not yet. Today when it is released I look and can't find it anywhere. I would like to know where I can find it to read?
In addition, I would like to point out that I took a subscription to dnd beyond where I should have received the sourcebook 2 weeks earlier
The early release hasn't gotten here yet.
If I recall correctly if you have a Master Tier then you get early access on September 7th.
yes you are right
i heave this tier but where i can find this book?
You can't find it yet
The book releases September 17th. Today is August 17th.
Master Tier subscribers get access two weeks early, on September 3rd.
Hero Tier gets it one week early, on September 10th.
thanks
Question: Dark Elf/Drow is listed as a race in the 2014 player handbook. Except, you can't select it as a race during character creation in DDB. Is there any reason why?
Do you own the 2014 PH on DDB?
I'm able to use it, yeah
If it is shared with you have you made the character in the campaign where it is shared?
I own the 2014PHB and I am able to make a dark elf character
No. I'm the campaign owner
so now i'm really confused. I can read the PHB on DnD Beyond but I also have to purchase it?
If you’re able to read it and haven’t purchased it yourself, then it’s being shared with you through one of the campaigns you’re in.
oh
Shared character options are only available for characters assigned to the campaign that’s sharing them.
:'D RIP. Okay then
Is anyone else having issues on DDB with the website not processing the payment?
Sometimes it can be your bank preventing the transaction
I already confirmed with my bank that it isn't them. They said it was WotC
Interesting. Okay so in that case make sure your billing details on DnDBeyond match what the bank/card has on file.
If that still doesn't resolve it, you'll need to contact customer support.
Yeah. Everything matches and I'm already waiting on a response to my ticket with CS. Just wanted to find out if anyone else was experiencing this issue or just me
Aha! Finally got it to go!
Can’t access content being shared by a friend in our campaign
I could around a month ago but trying to make a new character I can no longer use any of his paid content any reason why?
If Master Tier get's access to PHB 2024 two weeks early, do those that they share their content with, also get early access?
That is how it has worked for early access in the past, so I'd assume so, but I'm pretty sure no announcement has been made about how this release will work at all.
it seems like people got the 2024 players guide at the last GENCON. why can't we get the 2024 players guide on beyond before the scheduled date?
You can; if you pre-order and have a hero tier subscription you get access 1 week before, and 2 weeks before if you have a master tier subscription
Thx, i'm master tiers and purchase it on Europe page for dd.
Do the people you share content with as a Master Tier also get early access?
If there's been no change in how content sharing works, then yes.
Thanks
Can i have some help with my homebrew? I just made one but it is no showing up in character builder. Can anyone help me?
Do you have homebrew turned on for that character? It’s on the first page of the character builder for each character.
Only other thought I have is that Homebrew caches on the site every 15 or so minutes, so you might need to wait for the caching to update.
Ok i'll wait 15 minutes and come back if it doesn't show up.
I see the other homebrew i have so it is werd it is not working.
I also set the race to "share with community" thinking it would work.
Well, share with community does what it says on the tin: it publishes it for other people outside of your campaigns to use. It wouldn’t help here.
Let me make a new one and delete the one i made to public then thanks.
You can always use your own homebrew so long as Homebrew is enabled and you have it added to your collection.
You can’t delete homebrew that’s been published because someone else might be using it. That said, it shouldn’t hurt in either case, just explaining why it doesn’t help.
Or, to be specific, you can’t delete the published version.
Oh. Well i'll use my private verson then. (Yes it got approved and someone added in seconds so at least it is liked)
Is your character assigned to that campaign? Is Content Sharing still enabled for that campaign?
Does this mean the race is meant to have subraces, but you haven’t included one?
Because that would also explain it. A parent race can’t be selected on its own, because it’s incomplete. You need to have a subrace.
Only standard and variant races can be selected on their own.
Good catch! I hadn’t noticed that remark; that might be it.
It had a subrace but i removed it as it never showed the main version.
So does it need the subrace?
If so i can add them. (It is weird tho because the other one i have doesn't have subraces and it still shows up.)
It depends on whether you’ve marked the race as having subraces.
If you did, you do.
If you didn’t, you don’t.
I'll add the sub races maybe i will help hold on.
Hold on i'll copy and paste on a new homebrew sheet cuz i don't even see the subrace option anymore only variant.
So my ticket to redeem the discount was marked as solved, but i didnt get anything for it?
ah, nvm
How long does it usually take for one to receive the discounts for A la carte?
@uneven lantern @dire blade
It works now. Thanks for the help!
I won't make a subrce or anything for it.
Quick question, in a campaign, is it the DM who has to have Master Tier to share, or as a player if I have it, can I share my books
Any participant in the campaign can turn on content sharing for that campaign, which shares all books of all players with everyone else in the campaign. There is a limit of 5 campaigns activated in this way for sharing per person at that tier.
wheres the chanel to get advice?
Depends on what advice you’re trying to get.
#channel-guide might point you in the right direction.
i want to know the best ranger build
#optimization may be the best fit for "best" builds
thanks <3
character builder only has text, no dropdowns/options
i've tried multiple browsers and devices
Seems fine on my end. Can you share a screenshot?
same in all CC tabs
You’ve turned on Help Mode.
You can use the arrows on the left or right there to proceed.
Or you can turn it off by clicking the ? at the top.
He said was disabled for some reason all good now
I have races ( basically the ones from spelljammer) not showing up in character creation even though I own the book digitally
never mind i just had to log out and then log back in for them to show up in the character creation screen
Since the phb (2014) just updated in dndbeyond, what was changed?
Also, not sure if this is the right spot (direct me to the right one if it isn't), but will someone with the 2014 phb need to buy the 2024 phb seperately?
As far as I'm aware, the only update was adding the "(2014)" suffix in preparation for the new 2024 PHB (which will just be called "Player's Handbook")
And yes, the 2024 PHB is a separate book and therefore seperate purchase from the 2014 PHB
Damn
Will the basic rules be updated though to fit the class changes?
Nothing has been announced regarding that

Bruh, I was just making homebrew magic items, why am I under suspicion of being a construct?
Something in your posting behavior on DnDBeyond triggered whatever security setup they have.
I've tried to hold down the button 5 times, and every time it finishes it just loads for a bit and tells me to try again
Might try using a different browser without any extensions and without any VPN
It works on Edge, but no matter what I do, the thing keeps popping up whenever I use Chrome
I've deactivated all of my extensions
Have you tried clearing your cache and cookies on Chrome and restarting Chrome?
i want to ask question about specific DND beyond tooltip (rule) and it's interaction with character sheet and subclass page
so unlike other (spell, action, condition etc) tooltips transfer from homebrewed subclass page (with just losing pop up explanation text and color) - rule tooltip transfers at character sheet not as eg. "advantage" but as "[rule]advantage[/rule]"
is there any viable workaround other than turning tooltip in colored web link to definition in phb or basic rules?
like i want both subclass page with good looking tooltips and my characters sheet (that use this subclass) without some sort of analogy to BBCode
impossible for the player to join my campaign
They need to have a character to be in the campaign
They could click “Create a character” or “Create from premade character” there.
I’m betting their existing characters are already assigned to other campaigns.
If they want to use one of those, they’d have to remove their character from its existing campaign first.
he wants to import a character he created I sent him the campaign link
Did he make said character on D&D Beyond?
yes
Is his character already assigned to another campaign?
How many players are in your campaign already? How many characters?
Is there a reason that the fact that I am wearing armor is ignored because my unarmored AC is better
Not a visual bug. lowered my stats and the ac swapped to the armored ac of 19 for +3 breastplate with +2 dex once it was better than the unarmored ac
not sure why it's coded to ignore armor when unarmored defense is better. For this specific character I am not using unarmored defense even though it would raise my AC
11
I think campaign allow up to 12 players, so that should be fine…
Can you share a link to the character he wants to use?
can you post a link to the character?
#ddb-support message issue around which i'm searching workaround
yes
there are 11 characters
I think dnd beyond is just set up to take whatever is higher, its not able to choose the ac calculation to use based on equipment.
ig this is a weird edge case where it sucks that they didn't code unarmored defense to turn off when armor was equipped, but not many people would equip armor when their AC is higher without it
Also since you can’t use Rage while wearing armor.
heavy armor*
light and medium is fine
also ironically you can rage while wearing heavy armor, you just don't receive benefits, due to wording
While raging, you gain the following benefits if you aren't wearing heavy armor:
true. you can however click cusomize there and just put a -1 in to make it right
omg I just realized that you still get subclass things while raging in heavy armor since most of them don't have the heavy armor clause since it's baked into the main feature in a weird way
welp, time to have some fun
also, id, check with your dm about those gloves/wraps/gauntlets. https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/dmg-2014/treasure#MultipleItemsoftheSameKind
already cleared ages ago, ty though!
reflavored as necessary
convo isn't on topic for support anymore, so I'm going to pop over to #character-discussion and talk about the build a little if you want to hear about it
Hello all, I am new to DND beyond and I am trying to create a lv2 wizard, however, the only school I can choose is the School of Evocation. How can I choose the school if Divination in the creating site? Thank you.
?books
There are four ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books
- Purchase the full digital book from the marketplace
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from the marketplace
- Join a DnDBeyond campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond. Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way, it is for personal use only
You will need access to the Player's Handbook (or one of the other books that contains a wizard subclass) in order to have access to more than just the free subclass option
Thanks
What the diffenet between the 2014 and 2024 version?
The new book’s been completely redesigned from the ground up. There’s some articles here that discuss many of the changes, or you’re welcome to ask in https://discord.com/channels/516367331358801950/1252622903669686342 if you have any other questions.
Thanks
So buying either of one can access more class right?
Hey I’m new and I’m guessing this is a dumb question but do you have to buy different books on d and d beyond to unlock some things in the character builder?
If so what would I have to buy?
then a lot of books
there isnt really a bundle to buy anymore, you have to buy full books. if you want everything, youll have to go through and figure out what has what, and spend likely hundreds
you can go to https://www.dndbeyond.com/races to see some info on everything on the site for races for example, and itll show ones you dont own as well, but only a short description
Monsters of the Multiverse is the best option for races: a whopping 34 of them.
If I am going create a new character using the fast build feature in the website, which version of rule is the character under? 2014 or 2024 version? Thanks
2014
Thanks
The 2024 rules release next month.
Thanks
Are you still having this issue? Seems like it might have simply been a bug.
When I level up my characters, it takes a long time to go through on the actual character sheet. This isn't a one time thing either, it's happened to me a lot.
For example it just now went through
sorry if this is the wrong chat, but i am trying to start a new campaign on d@d beyond and i need help adding sources to the campaign so, my players can get their characters ready, ( sorry if this is the wrong chat to ask)
Do you own the sources you want to add and have a master tier subscription?
i don't know i want to get the player hand books and the monster manual, but i am in a campaign already so its says its sharded with me so i don't know how to buy it ,
y i do, i think this specific tooltip is non optimized by devs tbh - like eg some niche homebrew monsters alignements that crash encounter (endless beta) tab
You can purchase D&D books for use in DnDBeyond through the marketplace: https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/
To share these books with folks (and to allow others to share the content they own) in your DnDBeyond campaign someone in the group needs to have an active Master Tier subscription and you will need to toggle on content sharing in that campaign.
Content sharing from another DnDBeyond campaign does not carry over to other DnDBeyond campaigns.
there is astemte time to when the site will be back?
Hallo hallo! The site should be available now: maintenance has concluded. Thanks for your patience!
Any estimates on when the mobile app will be back up?
ooh, no I don't know that. I'll see if I can find out!
if I buy the 2024 handbook do I also get the 2014 beyond unlocks? If not, will I have to wait until september for the 2024 unlocks?
No, they're two separate books
If you pre-order the 2024 Player's Handbook, you will have to wait until it releases before you can access it
The new book is available September 17, or up to two weeks early for subscribers.
(Sept. 3 for Master Tier; Sept. 10 for Hero Tier)
But we can expect the physical books september 17th right? (If we ordered from a book store for the alt version)
Local game stores in the US and CAN can also start selling the book up to two weeks early.
There's been delays for the alt cover outside of North America:
http://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1800-delays-outside-north-america-for-2024-players
oh i mean if i already pre-orded it can i expect it by or after sept 17th (Im in USA)
But ultimately, contacting the book store you preordered from would be the best way to get a verified answer.
cool thanks!
how do u change spells u got from clockwork sorcerer on dnd beyond with other spells from other spellslots?
make a homebrew copy of the subclass with the changes
I'm using shared content from a campaign, can't really make a copy of that I think. those shared books also only work on one of my characters
there isnt an officially supported way to change your spells unfortunately
well thats stupid lol
Hey can anyone help with this?
There's a PC in my campaign with a custom BG, their character sheet doesn't appear to be picking up the language from the inputs.
Sometimes custom background choices can take a little longer to appear, but they’ll show up in time.
So I run a large community of 80+ homeschoolers on D&D Beyond AboveVTT and I am having major issues with it. I've contacted D&D Beyond through the help emails and they have been absolutely no help. I frequently cannot even get onto AboveVTT and when I click the link to join as DM it routes me to the "Encounters" section of D&D Beyond. How do I fix this?
AboveVTT is a completely 3rd party extension that isnt supported or suggested for use by DDB. You'd need to contact the developer of the extension for support
I'm also having issues with My Encounters section not allowing me to delete the 7 encounters on my account.
do the encounters have names?
Two of them do, but 4 do not
Try giving them names first, and then delete.
If that still doesn’t work, you’d have to contact Customer Support.

Ok thank y ou
Write to support, they delete it in +-10 days or so, had this issue too
heyo sorry if this is not the right place but I noticed this new view that set everything on for me
What is expanded rules?
It covers rulebooks like XGTE, TCOE, and MOTM.
Setting books like SCAG, GGTR, and VRGTR.
Adventure books like COS, JTTR, and VEOR.
Basically the whole alphabet.
Any current, official book beyond the core rulebooks.
QQ is there a place in DNDBeyond where I can see the Feats I have available to me in one place? I know that the PHB has a section but there have been a lot of feats released since then
There isn't a specific space to see all feats that you have access to, but you can go to the Features & Traits tab in your character sheet and select the Manage Feats button to see all the Feats that that specific character has access to.
Ugh really? Thank you but I was hoping there was something like the spells tab lol. Anyways thank you
My character sheet isn't loading the backdrop or the portrait. Its a black picture and a white background.
Try clearing your browser cache and cookies and restarting your browser
Sometimes this is just a caching issue and doing those steps will help clear it out.
thank you!
You can find the full list of feats here:

Thank you

Just what I want a few hours before my session starts, D&D Beyond telling me my saved password that has worked every day for the past 2 years is suddenly wrong... And I can't reset it because the email never arrives to reset the password.
That's not a D&D Beyond issue because D&D Beyond does not provide it's own account authentication service
The services D&D Beyond uses are
- twitch (legacy)
- apple
- wizards
Whichever service you use, you'll have to go through that services password recovery system; D&D Beyond has no access or control over that
And Wizards is what I was using. Ah, all my password reset emails arrive at once... Time to try each reset code...
No, don't do that
Use the most recent (the emails will have time stamps)
But this isnt' really a D&D Beyond support matter, so we'll leave it that
Okay I'm on all is good again!
I cannot edit my player's characater sheets anymore as a DM. Has something changed?
Are you able to edit if you open it from your campaign page?
If you're using their public sharing URL, you won't be able to edit.
Fixed it, the "help" button was selected. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yo nerds is DnDBeyond forcing the OneDND rules on us?
You can get the full details here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/changelog#UpdatingtheDDBeyondToolsetforthe2024CoreRulebooks
Thanks cuzzo
I see the change logs. What I don't see is how the legacy items mesh with 2024 rules. Does dndbeyond go ahead and use the guidance from the 2024 phb when using a legacy "race" or background with the phb 2024 rules and classes. For eg. When creating a character using a legacy race that gives ability bonuses, will they still give those bonuses or ignore them?
No idea! 😅
But I’ve reached out behind the scenes to see if we can get some clarification.
hi question, is there an option for subclasses on dndbeyond?
An option to do what with them?
add them to character sheet?
Then yes
You’d add it on the class tab, under whatever feature grants the subclass for that class.
So fighters, for example, choose theirs in their Martial Archetype feature at level 3.
So if you do not order the new books, does that mean that you won't be able to use character sheets to spell links anymore? Even if using only 2014 materials?
What do you mean by “use character sheets to spell links”? Can you give an example?
The right or left column spell description when managing a spell selection on the character sheet.
I create a 3rd level wizard 2014. Select subclass evocation. On spells selection, known/prepared are all the spells going to reference 2024 version? And what happens if I don't own PHB2024? Will the spell options be blank and limited to 2014 spells that haven't been updated? Do I get the updated 2024 spell descriptions for free?
From what I’ve been told, if you have access to the 2014 version of a spell, you’ll also have access to the 2024 version of that same spell.
So when you click a spell on your character sheet, the sidebar will open to display the description of the 2024 version of that spell — whether you have the new book or not.
Is it possible to swap my pre-order bundle for alternate covers on the physical copies? I just saw recent announcement mention them but I don’t see them on the website yet.
The alt covers are available only in local game stores.
You can call your local store or check here to find a store near you:

For any changes to your preorder, you’d have to contact customer support:

Oh I didn’t realize they’d only be in-stores. I already ordered the digital+physical bundle and just hoped it might be possible to switch physicals. I guess I’ll have to wait and see if any stores near me bring them in but I don’t want to lose the bundle price and don’t need 2 copies 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks
What's the best way to keep my ear to the ground for if there's ever a ddb sale?
Social media, and #dnd-social-feeds in this server usually
Thanks!
There's usually a blue banner at the top of the site, too, whenever a sale is happening.
I preordered the new 2024 bundle (PHB/DMG/MM) and would like to know if it's too late to cancel and get a refund? If it isn't, what's the process to do so?

Thank you... once you get clarity, where would I find that answer? Or just wait for 12 more days? haha
Sorry, I was given incorrect information. 😅
Any legacy race with an ASI will keep it. Only the 2024 backgrounds will include it.
good luck getting any response from DDB. I've had a ticket open for 19 days now.....
According to the site, all digital sales are final. I'm not sure how that makes sense considering nothing has been delivered yet.
Right. Today, for example, you cannot choose the 2014 PHB Beastmaster (there's only one option, and mine gives me Tasha's but maybe if you don't own Tasha's it gives you legacy?), but you can choose legacy races. But classes changed. Will I be able to level up existing characters or create new characters with the 2014 base class progression?
You can definitely create a Beastmaster using the 2014 PHB rules.
It's the default, even, when you select that subclass. There are then additional steps required to enable the feature replacements from Tasha's.
Not in my builder. I select the only Beast Master and I get Tasha's version.
But yes, both versions of each class will remain available. If you want to switch to the 2024 version, you'll need to apply the new class to your character and remove the old one.
Can you share a screenshot? Or a link to the character?
I understand I will be able to look at it, "in the book", but will it be available in the builder?
Yes
I'm sure I'm not the only one in my particular situation - several ongoing campaigns, none wishing to move to new rules until the campaigns are over, perhaps years from now, that presently rely heavily on DDB. It would be nice to keep our subscriptions and continue playing as we do today,
That's definitely the PHB version.
It's got the Ranger's Companion feature from the PHB.
And not the Primal Companion feature from Tasha's.
That's Tasha's
OK, I stand corrected. This is controlled by Tasha's optional features. Is that how they will allow you to control 2014 vs 2024 classes and sub classes (optional check boxes)?
This is a terrible summary, by the way, since it implies no actio nis required for Attack, etc.
That's not a topic for this channel
When selecting a class, the 2024 and 2014 versions will be listed as completely separate options, as shown here:
https://x.com/DnDBeyond/status/1826348893505740960
The 2014 versions will only be visible (during class selection) if the "Legacy Content" toggle is enabled for that character.
Once you've selected your class, it will remain on your character sheet regardless of whether that toggle is enabled.
The entry for the Druidic Focus in DDB’s Equipment only lists a Sprig of Mistletoe (or Holly) as an option, but the PHB equipment section also offers Totem, Wooden Staff, and Yew Wand as options. Is that accidental?
I don't know, but since that listing is about to be replaced with the 2024 description, it will forever be a mystery.
Fair enough 😅
I'm not sure if it was made clear or not in the change list, but if I don't own or plan to own the 2024 rules, will my magic items and spells remain as they were, will I get the new definitions for free, or will I suddenly get a 'you don't own this content' error in my spell book?
Since all my 2014 content in the character sheets is getting axed, is it possible to get a refund on previously purchased content?
You’ll effectively be getting the updated spells and magic items for free.
If you can access the 2014 version, you’ll have access to the 2024 version in the character builder and the spell/magic item listings.
That’s not something anyone here can help you with, I’m afraid. You’d have to contact customer support if you want to have that discussion.

Any idea how long it takes to get a ticket reply? ive been waiting for someone to reply to my ticket for 22 days.
It entirely depends on how many tickets are open before yours.
so rough guess? 4-6 weeks?
No idea - depends on customer service workload and where your ticket is in their work queue.
I'd also suggest checking your spam folder in case they sent any follow-up questions and are waiting for a reply from you.
its via email?
If you have an issue with D&D Beyond purchases or subscriptions, you may need to contact customer support. To do so, please go to http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket and submit a ticket.

- Tickets are grouped by user based on the most recent ticket. Do not submit multiple tickets for the same issue. This will push you down the queue
- The customer support team is active Monday-Friday and work US hours. This means you may not get a response based on your local timezone or weekends.
^ So if they respond to your ticket, it should send an email associated with the account you created for the ticket system.

Well I know how to add extras, I put in sidekick none of the classes that Tasha’s sidekick rules allow showed up. When I tried searching for the classes nothing showed up, only after I disabled the rules it allowed me to pick creatures, but I couldn’t give them levels and classes
Also the sidekick/creature I want to add is a spell caster rat
The Sidekick category there is for the versions in Dragon of Icespire Peak, which predates the Tasha’s rules.
I’d recommend making a homebrew monster. Select a rat as a template, and then you can manually add your sidekick choices as needed.
Thanks!
if I buy the subscription to the website can I use all rulebooks for making my character sheet
like are the rulebooks included in the subscription
No, subscription tiers do not grant you direct access to content
Will the 2014 magic items and spells still be available to copy as homebrew or will we have to go make them all manually so we can use the product we paid for?
As of right now you will need to make these homebrew copies of the 2014 spells before the release date of the 2024 Players Handbook.
will the restriction for sharing official content in the homebrew browser go away for unsupported items and spells or does everyone have to make their own?
There are no changes to content sharing
You may not publish your 2014 homebrew spells though
(copyright and all that)
It has not been stated either way if they'll be selectable as options to copy from
i feel like everyone making copies is a lot of data
sorry for all the questions, will people with subscriptions lose access to the unsupported material when the books drop for everyone or in the early access period, i believe 1 week for hero and 2 weeks for master tier?
Completely okay

Subscriptions don't grant access to content, so I'm not sure exactly what you're getting at here precisely
If you're referring to content sharing, anything shared with you will continue to be shared with you in the form that it exists
What this means is
- Listings of spells and (later) magic items that are updated from 2014 to 2024 versions will be shared in their new, updated forms
- Compendium entitries of the above content will continue to be shared in its unaltered 2014 form
this part of the subscriptions, will subscribers loose 2014 content in these periods or at full launch?
not content sharing
To clarity, you won't be losing any content
i WILL be losing my 2014 spells
No, they will still be accessible through your 2014 Player's Handbook
Only the listings will be updated to the 2024 version
on m y character sheet? for my character to use?
When the 2024 Player's Handbook goes live on D&D Beyond on September 3rd, all spell and mundane item listings (what the tools use) will be updated to their 2024 versions _where both a 2014 and 2024 version exists)
im sorry, im upset and i shouldnt get rude
It's completely okay
I'm just trying to reassure you that while you will lose the convenience of being able to add the 2014 spells to your character sheet (without the use of hombrew tools), you will not lose access them
They will still exist unchanged within the 2014 Player's Handbook you have
(because there's a lot of misinformation circling)
I get that's a cold comfort if you're just concerned about the tools, but when communicating on this matter, the moderation team has to be careful to communicate as precisely as possible for those viewing the channel, not just the person they're addressing
So to answer your question as precisely and to-the-point as I can
When September 3rd comes out, regardless of if you have a subscription or have ordered the 2024 Player's Handbook, your spells and mundane gear will be updated to the 2024 versions for listings only (listings are what's used in the tools such as character builder).
Entries for those same game options in your 2014 Player's Handbook will remain unchanged
ok, thanks, im sorry so much of this is hitting you
eh, it's okay. I'm in it for the community and the community has ups and downs
One thing I will say is that for the vast majority of spells (as far as I'm aware) the changes are trivial (or none)
This means that making the 2014 version in the homebrew tools will consist mostly of
- Copy the 2024 version
- Make a small change such as spell school or damage dice
- Save
(Again, I'm aware this is cold comfort but I'm trying to provide whatever I can)
i am currently copying every spell and adding (2014) to the start of the name so they'll be in a block
Why is the Articifier class in official discord but not in the basic rules?
The Basic Rules contains a subset of content from the 2014 PHB, DMG, and MM.
The Artificer was released long after any of those books.
You can use it in D&D Beyond if you have access to ERFTLW or TCOE.
So ive been hearing that people with memberships will be forced to use the new rules and cannot use the original rules on dndbeyond. Is this true?
The changelog with all the information can be found here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/changelog#UpdatingtheDDBeyondToolsetforthe2024CoreRulebooks
But to summarise as best I can; you will not be prevented from using the original rules on D&D Beyond, there just may be extra hurdles to do so depending on what rules you want to use
Membership is irrelevant. You can use old/legacy rules for class/subclass/race/background/feat. Everything else on the character sheet will be changed to 2024 rules whether you like it or not. This includes spells, items (when the DMG is released), conditions, rule references etc. Essentially if you want to continue using 2014 rules you will have to reference a load of things off-sheet, negating the whole point of using the site.
Most content will be unaffected bar getting the Legacy Tag
Spells and (later, when the DMG comes out) magic item listings will be automatically updated to the 2024 descriptions and rules. This will not affect the compendium entries in the 2014 Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Basic Rules
You can use those compendiums to create homebrew copies of the original, 2014 versions for use on your character sheets
Mundane gear, including weapons, will be updated in a similar fashion, but no homebrewing will be necessary as these changes are purely additive (with the exception of the Net weapon); weapons are simply having their master traits added (so you can ignore those if you're using the 2014 rules) and items will have their item-specific rules added (which again, can be ignored)
Tooltips, links to rules, and other such rules reminders and descriptions will now show their 2024 versions (such as the new Exhaustion rule or the Magic action) in the character sheets, but the original wording of those rules will likewise be unchanged in the compendiums
